DJ has good news from the hospital . . .

We learn the result of the hospital phone call to Penrhewl;  “She’s awake,” announces DJ 

. . . which comes as a great relief to Sioned 

and Sioned is extremely relieved.   “I told you, didn’t I?   She’ll end up telling the doctors how to do their job.   We can go and see her now, if you like.”

We cam drop off Huwi with Elinor

Sioned says that they can drop Huwi off with Elinor, and as she calls for him, 

Then DK has a call . . .

DJ’s phone rings;  

. . . from Café Neuf

he is disturbed to see that it is Café Neuf calling, so he ignores the call.

"What are we supposed to do now?"

As they sit on the stairs in Y Felin, Dani demands, “What are we supposed to do now?   Phone the undertaker or something?”   

"They might want to keep him for now"

Iolo predicts that the police might want to keep Tyler’s body for now.

“I don’t like to think of him on his own,” she continues, 

"Things were really improving"

but Iolo points out that he was happy at the end and things were improving for them – really improving.

"You should have seen his face"

“I asked him to pick Greta up after the wedding – you should have seen his face.   We should have sorted things out sooner – we wasted months when we could have been together.   And now I’ll never get him back.”   

They share their grief

Both he and Dani are in tears.

"You wanted to see me, Mathew"

Mathew is fiddling with his phone in the shop flat when Siôn comes in, as Mathew wanted to see him.   

"I'm so sorry to hassle you like this"

“Siôn, I’m so sorry to hassle you like this – I know you’ve got a lot going on at home, but I’m really worried about Tesni.   She didn’t come home last night and she’s not answering her phone.   

"I've looked everywhere for her"

Cassie hasn’t seen her either and I’ve looked everywhere.”

Siôn urges him to calm down, and will help him look for Tesni;  

"Don't you want to be with greta and Iolo?"

“Are you sure?   Don’t you want to be with Greta and Iolo?” asks Mathew, 

"I don't want to suffocate them"

but Siôn does not want to suffocate them.   They leave the flat to continue with the search.

Britt tries to keep herself busy

Britt is hanging washing on the clothes airer and looking very upset when the back door opens 

"I'll have a coffee when you're ready"

and Colin says, “I’ll have a coffee when you're ready.”   She is overjoyed to see him and rushes to hug him, 

Colin is still in some pain . . .

which causes some discomfort;  she did not think he was coming out of hospital until tomorrow.

. . . but describes himself as like the bionic man

“Well, what can I say?   I’m like the bionic man,” he tells her, 

"I wanted to surprise you!"

“I didn’t phone, because I wanted to surprise you!”

"I've had enough surprises for one day"

Britt groans that she has had enough surprises for one day;  “Garry’s been arrested,” she tells him.

"You don't have to go, Dani"

Iolo insists that Dani does not have to go, but she explains that she has to go to the hospital, 

"You need to talk to Greta"

and he needs to talk to Greta, something which he is not looking forward to.   

"When I tell her, everything will change"

“She seems so happy playing school with her teddies – once I tell her, everything will change.”

Dani agrees that it will, but that they do not have a choice;  

"All we can do is love them"

“All we can do is be there for them and love them.   I have to go.”   

She hugs Iolo again

She gives Iolo another hug and then her phone sounds;  

"No, it's not the hospital"

she says it is not the hospital, but does not reveal who the caller is.   

Iolo does not relish the task before him

Iolo looks anxiously upstairs.

Eileen is asleep

Eileen, who is looking somewhat battered, is lying in her hospital bed, with Sioned at the bedside.   

"Do you think she can hear me?"

“Do you think she can hear me?” Sioned asks DJ, who is looking at his phone, 

"You're going to be all right, Mam"

then takes her mother’s hand and says, “You’re going to be all right, Mam.   You’ve been in an accident, but you’re OK.”

"You were in a fight with a minibus"

DJ adds, “You were in a fight with a minibus, and you won,” which Sioned regards as being unnecessarily flippant.   

Eileen looks around

Eileen gradually opens her eyes and looks around her nervously.

“It’s all right, I’m here – don’t try to speak,” Sioned tells her, “I’m here and DJ is here, too.   I’m so sorry, Mam, but we’re here now, OK?   

"We're not going anywhere"

“And we’re not going anywhere.”   

This sounds ominous to DJ

DJ finds this rather disconcerting.

Gaynor has another phone call

Gaynor is packing a bag at Llwyncelyn when her phone sounds again;  she looks at it, and then answers, but as usual there is no voice at the other end.   

"Why are you doing this?"

“Why are you doing this?   Would you please just say something?”

Now she is exceedingly nervous

Then there is a knock at the door, so she puts down the phone and very gingerly goes to see who is there.   

"I didn't have a key!"

It is Hywel, who complains that he did not have a key, 

"You should still be in hospital"

but is reminded that he should be in hospital until tomorrow.

“I wanted to sleep in my own bed,” he complains, and Gaynor insists that he is not well enough to be home.   “I wanted some peace – 

"We don't have machines that bleep here!"

“we don’t have machines that bleep here!”

“And we don’t have the police here, either,” she adds, 

"Not that you have any reason to worry"

“Not that you have a reason to worry,” and he walks out of the room.

Their search uas been unsuccessful . . .

After searching, Mathew and Siôn meet in the High Street, but have not managed to find Tesni;  they see DI Fielding and another officer passing, 

. . . so Siôn seeks professional help

so Siôn calls to them.   “We think that a person is missing,” he says, 

"Go to the station and report it"

so the DI recommends that he goes to the police station to report it.

"Tesni Parri"

“I might as well tell you now – Tesni Parri, 21 years old, brown hair,” Siôn continues, and the DI confirms that they have been in contact with her.   

"I can assure you she's safe"

She cannot disclose the details, but assures them that she is safe.   Siôn and Mathew look at each other.

"I'm still getting these calls . . ."

Gaynor contacts the police once again;  “I’ve phoned you before about these anonymous calls – the thing is, I’m still getting them.   

". . . `I can't carry on like this!"

“I can’t carry on like this!   You’re not listening to me – I don’t feel safe!”

"I'll bring the phone to the station"

Hywel comes back into the room as she goes on, “Right, so I’ll bring the phone to the station later,” but before she can say anything else, he grabs the phone and abruptly terminates the call.

"You can't give it to the police!"

Hywel demands what she is doing;  “You can’t give it to the police – because they’ll see that you phoned me!   I picked it up while driving – that’s illegal – 

"This phone isn't going anywhere!"

“this phone isn’t going anywhere!”

"I have to find out who is phoning"

Gaynor stresses that she has to find out who is phoning, 

"I could go to prison – is that what you want?"

but he points out that he could go to prison;  “Is that what you want?”

"How's Dani?"

Cassie brings over a cup of coffee to Jinx in the Deri, and he asks how Dani is;  

Geraint is obviously having his break

“As well as can be expected,” is the reply.

"Is it true that Garry killed someone?"

“Is it true, then?” he goes on, “That Garry killed someone?”

"No, it's not!"

Mathew has just walked in and answers that question, “No, it’s not!   I’ve just spoken to Tesni.   It was Dylan’s body in the garage.”   Jinx was unaware that Dylan was back, and wonders who did it.

"Gwyneth – and she killed Jaclyn, too!"

Mathew announces, “Gwyneth – and she killed Jaclyn, too!”   

"How does Tesni know this?"

Cassie cannot understand how Tesni knows this.   “Gwyneth told her,” says Mathew, “You can’t see her, as she is staying with Rhys – she can’t face the village.”

Jinx is looking extremely shocked by this;  

"Here – give me that phone!"

he gets up and demands that Mathew hand over his phone.   

"Jaclyn was expecting my baby!"

“I want to know what Gwyneth said – because Jaclyn was expecting my baby.”   

They are open-mouthed with surprise

This comes as quite a revelation to them.

Dani is admitted to the interview room

In the police station a plainclothes officer admits Dani to the interview room, where Garry is waiting.   

"Have you been to see Gwern?"

“Have you been to see Gwern?” he asks, 

"He's not great, Garry"

and is told that his son is ‘not great’.   

Garry weeps

Garry breaks down in tears.

"He's better than Tyler"

“He’s better than Tyler,” Dani adds, “One last job!”

"I've told the police everything, Dan"

Garry confesses that he has told the police everything;  she shakes her head and sighs that he did not say anything to her.   

"But Gabriel's father?"

She walks towards the table;  “Gabriel’s father?   Do you have any idea how sick I was when I heard what you’d done?   

"How could you do that to my baby?"

“How could you do that to my baby?”

"I'm not a murderer, Dan"

I’m not a murderer, Dan – I’ve pleaded guilty to kidnapping, but I didn’t kill him,” Garry argues.

"Your decisions but Tyler in a morgue!"

“But your stupid decisions put Gwern in hospital and Tyler in a morgue!” she shouts, “Why did you have to drag us into all this?”   

"For the sake of the family"

He replies that she knows why;  “For the sake of the family.”

"There's no family left, Garry"

She reminds him that there is no family left, and that he did this for his own sake;  

"Always looking for trouble"

“You’re always looking for trouble and scams and dodgy deals – and for what?”

"That's who I am, Dan"

Garry explains, “That’s who I am, Dan – that’s who I’ve always been – someone who looks after his family, no matter what.   

"I'm a fighter — a Monk"

“I’m a fighter – a Monk.”

"I'm going to make sure he doesn't turn out to be a Monk!"

Dani snarls, “Well, I’m not – and if Gwern comes through this, I’m going to make sure he doesn’t turn out to be a Monk, either!   I should have done and what I did last night a long time ago!   

"I phoned the cops"

“I phoned the cops.”   

"You did what?"

Garry cannot believe it.

"We can start looking at sailing times"

Sioned has packed some items to take to her mother, and DJ begins, “Now that we know she’s all right, we can start looking at sailing times.”   

"Not now, DJ"

She says that she cannot discuss it now, as she wants to get back to her mother.   “We can’t get the money back for the sailing last night,” he continues, “But worse things happen at sea.”

"I had a word with the consultant"

Sioned tells him, “Listen while you were down in the canteen I had a word with the consultant – she’s going to be in for a couple of weeks at least.   They want to keep an eye on the bleed on her brain.”   

"I'm sure we can make arrangements"

DJ remarks that two weeks is not too long, and he is sure that they can make arrangements.

“No – she needs an operation as well – she’s broken her leg,” Sioned explains, 

"She won't be able to walk properly for months"

“She won’t be able to walk properly for months!”   

"I don't want us to be apart for that long"

DJ does not want to be apart for that long, and she says, “That’s what I’m trying to tell you – 

"I don't think we can move to Ireland after all"

“I don’t think we can move to Ireland after all.   I’m going back to Mam.”

"We have to talk about this"

DJ insists that they have to talk about this, but Sioned insists, “We don’t have any choice, do we?   I know you’re disappointed – I am too – but we have to be here!”   She rushes out of the farmhouse.

Greta is engrossed with her unicorn

At Y Felin, Greta is playing happily with her winged unicorn, while Iolo is trying to pluck up the courage to tell her.   

"Is there room for Dad on the sofa"

“Is there room for Dad on the sofa?” he asks, “What shall we do now?   

"Just you and me"

“Do you want to play another game – or a film?   Just you and me.”

"And Dadi"

Greta adds, “And Dadi.”   

"Dadi is . . . busy today"

Iolo haltingly explains that the thing is . . . Dadi is busy today, 

"Tomorrow, perhaps?"

so she asks, “Tomorrow, perhaps?” and he agrees that perhaps they will do it tomorrow.

Hywel hands back the phone . . .

Hywel is sitting miserably on the stairs;  he hands the phone back to Gaynor and apologises.   

. . . but wants the call history deleted

“I don’t like seeing you like this – you and I should be sticking together – will you delete the call history?”   She refuses to do this, 

"I can't go to prison!"

and he shouts, “I can’t go to prison!   Esther needs me – you need me.”

She replies that she cannot carry on like this, 

"What if you tell the police you spoke to Tyler?"

and he, in a state of panic, suggests, “What if you tell the police that you spoke to Tyler?   Don’t say anything about me.”   

"Did anyone else see you?"

She agrees to this, but wonders if anyone else on the bus saw him – then she would be in trouble for lying.

"Oh yes – Eileen"

Hywel realises that Eileen was sitting behind him;  “And while everyone else was singing . . .”

"I can't live like this, Hywel!"

“I can’t live like this – I feel sick every time my phone rings – and what if it gets worse?   What if scaring me isn’t enough?”   

"I want to keep you safe"

Hywel assures her that he wants to keep her safe, so she challenges him to do something about it.   She is going to check on Esther;  

Hywel slips out of the house

meanwhile Hywel decides what he is going to do, picks up his coat and leaves the house.

At Penrhewl, DJ’s phone rings;  

"No, you don't have to find another chef . . ."

“Sorry about the delay – no, you don’t have to find another chef – 

       ". . . I'll be there, I promise"

“just leave it with me,” he says, “I’ll be there, I promise.”

Iolo is alone on the sofa

Now Iolo is sitting alone on the sofa, looking at the unicorn, when his father returns home 

"How did it go with Greta?"

and asks how it went with Greta.   

"She didn't say a lot"

“She didn’t say a lot and didn’t have any questions – 

"She just needs time"

“she just needs time,” says Iolo.

"I'm so proud of you, Iolo"

“That’s the hardest thing any parent can do,” Siôn appreciates, “I know that from experience – but you’re stronger than you think.   I’m so proud of you.”   

But Iolo knows the truth

Iolo looks far from proud of himself.

Hywel is back in the hospital . . .

Hywel arrives back in the hospital 

. . . and looking shifty

and checks that the coast is clear 

He approaches Eileen 

before heading into the ward where Eileen is lying.   She is asleep and does not know he is there.

"Why did you have to do it?"

“Why?” pleads Garry, “Why did you have to do it?   I could have sorted everything out.”

"I wasn't expecting you to be hiding a body"

Dani had been under the impression that someone had hurt him;  “I wasn’t expecting you to be hiding a body in there.”   

"She's still having the last laugh"

He wonders how he managed to let Gwyneth win, and comments that, even after she has gone, she is still having the last laugh.

"Is there something wrong with you?"

“The last laugh?   Is there something wrong with you?” Dani snarls, 

Garry takes her hand

and Garry takes her hand, 

"I'm sorry, Dan – for everything"

confessing that he is sorry for everything.   

They kiss

He holds her close and they kiss.   

"I love you, Garry"

She admits that she loves him, 

She pulls away from him 

then pulls her hand from his grasp and knocks on the door to be let out.   

The DI opens the door . . .

The DI opens it and Garry winks at Dani as she goes;  

. . . then leaves . . .

then the door is closed again 

. . . Garry alone with his regrets

and Garry is left alone with his regrets.
