Dani arrives with Seren and Gabriel

As Mark is eating some food, he almost falls over some toys left on the floor, then Dani comes in with Seren and Gabriel.   He says that he was about to have a snack, but Dani asks if he can make the children some tea as well;  “The hospital has phoned.”

She instructs Seren to tell Mark about school and things,

"Is everything OK, Dani?"

and he wonders if everything is OK.

"Gwern can come home"

“Yeah – Gwern can come home,” she answers, “Thank you and see you later.”

Mark is not used to this . . .

Mark looks with some concern at the children,

. . . child-minding

who he is supposed to be supervising.

"Don't bring any mud in"

At Penrhewl, Sioned comes in, wearing her overalls and is warned by her mother not to bring any mud in.

"I just want the keys for the quad"

“I just want the keys for the quad –  I’m not taking my shoes off,” says Sioned, and, when asked if her mother can do anything to help,

"Oh yes – jump in your wheelchair!"

she laughs, “Oh yes – jump in your wheelchair and help me fix a fence!   DJ has been lambing since first thing this morning – I’ll be here by the time Huwi comes back from school.”

Eileen protests that she can look after Huwi, but is informed that he will need a bath, as they have been playing with glitter;

"Don't want the heir covered in glitter"

“Don’t worry, I’ll sort it – we can’t leave the heir to Penrhewl covered in glitter, can we?”

Eileen looks downcast

Eileen looks more miserable than usual.

Britt serves Beti from next door

Britt is serving Beti in the Deri when Mathew comes in, looking for Dani.

"I've brought Dani a sympathy card"

He has brought a sympathy card,

"She's either upstairs or at the hospital"

and Britt says that she is either upstairs or at the hospital with Gwern.   Mathew is reluctant to go up and see her;

"I might say the wrong thing"

“I might say the wrong thing,” he worries,

"I've got to go unto the safe"

so she will take it upstairs when goes to get more money out of the safe.

Someone else asked to mind the bar

She asks him to keep an eye on the bar for her.

Britt gets a shock when she goes upstairs

However, when she gets up to the flat, she does not find Dani, but there are a large number of bags packed with her belongings, which Britt  finds quite surprising.

Iolo is looking at his phone again

Iolo is still looking at the photos on the ‘IoloDW’ Facebook page when Siôn remarks that he is spending almost the same amount on bills as before Y Winllan closed.

"How can that make sense?"

“How can that makes sense?” he demands, but his son is too engrossed to be listening.

“I thought you were going to help,” Siôn continues,

"I am helping, Dad"

and Iolo replies that he is;  “By asking your followers to vote on what I should do with Y Winllan?” and Iolo thinks that might be a good idea.

"My livelihood is at stake!"

“I’m serious – my livelihood is at stake!” Siôn complains.

"Either reopen or sell"

“Dad, you’re going round and round in circles – you’ve got two choices – you either reopen or sell,” says Iolo, and his father says that he could rent it out – but that would be a lot of work, too.

"People will call me a failure"

“And people round here will call me a failure if I don’t reopen,” he goes on;  Iolo advises that he has to do what is right for him, and must not worry about what other people say.

"Isn't it time you picked Greta up?"

“Isn’t it is time for you to pick up Greta from school?” enquires Siôn.

“No, I don’t have to pick her up until 3:30pm,” is the reply, and he is enlightened that it is 3:55 already.

Iolo panics

Iolo jumps up from his seat and dashes out of the door.

"Look, aeroplane approaching"

Mark is trying to get Gabriel to eat, with very little success;  “Look, an aeroplane approaching,” he says,

Gabriel is definitely not co-operating

but the child is uncooperative.   “Is this is what my life has become?   Running a free crèche?” Mark groans,

"I know, things are a lot different"

“I know, things are a lot different to when Uncle Tyler was here.”

"What's that noise?"

There is a sound of a load crash,

The table seems to have been overturned

and he discovers a broken lamp and Seren holding a box of Roses chocolates;  he is almost at the end of his tether.

Sioned is putting Huwi's clothes in to soak

Sioned brings in some of Huwi’s clothes which will need soaking before washing, and Eileen says that she appreciates her daughter’s help.

"I'll make it up to you, Sioned"

She promises that she will make it up to Sioned as soon as she is back on her feet.

"I don't want to hear any more of your lies"

“Just stop it, Mam – I don’t want to hear any more of your lies.   I just want you to get better, so that DJ and I can move away,” Sioned tells her.

"I want you to stay here"

Eileen whimpers, “I want you to stay here.”

"What you want is a skivvy . . ."

Sioned maintains, “What you want is a skivvy – like Alaz, Eifion, Howard –

". . . until Huwi-John is old enough"

“anyone who will work for you until Huwi-John is old enough.”   She marches out of the farmhouse just as Colin is arriving.

"Who stole her chips, then?"

“Who stole her chips, then?” he jokes, and then realises that Eileen is upset.

"I'm here to do Britt's shift"

He is there to do Britt’s shift at Cae Glas and finds Eileen looking very downhearted.

"I've made such a mess of things"

“I’ve made such a mess of things, Colin,” she sobs.

"Please tell me that Greta's still here!"

Iolo runs across to the school and shouts to Cai, “Please tell me that Greta’s still here!” but he does not believe that she is – she finished almost an hour ago,

"I'll go and check now"

but Cai will go and check now, encouraging Iolo not to worry,

"Look, she won't have gone far"

as she will not have gone far.

Colin makes some tea

Colin fetches Eileen a cup of tea and says that he should have come over earlier to stop Sioned.

"It's not Sioned's fault"

“It’s not her fault – if it wasn’t for me, they would both be starting a new life in Ireland.   Instead they’re stuck here until I get better,” Eileen moans, even though Colin insist that they are not ‘stuck’, but want to be there.

"Yo would have done the same for her"

“You don’t need to feel sorry for Sioned – you would have done the same for her.   Right, I’d better start sorting those jars out – and if you come and help after finishing that cup of tea,

"I'll tell you who's sleeping on our sofa!"

I’ll tell you who’s sleeping on our sofa!”

Gwern is almost ready to leave

At the hospital, Gwern is packing his last few belongings into a haversack

A get well card from Arwen

and shows Dani a card [‘BRYSIA WELLA’ – get well soon]  which Arwen has sent him from North Wales.

“She’ll be glad to hear that you’re coming home today – like the rest of us,” says Dani, “Did you get many cards?”

"But nothing from Mam"

“Yes – but nothing from Mam,” he replies,

"Do you know when she's coming home from Birmingham?"

“Do you know when she’s coming home from Birmingham?   That’s where Auntie Cassie said she is.”

"I have something to tell you about your Mam"

Dani is momentarily lost for words, then advises that she has something to tell him about his mother, so he should sit down.

"She wasn't as lucky as you"

“The night of the  accident – she wasn’t as lucky as you.   The doctors – they tried everything.

"I'm so sorry, Gwern – she's dead"

“I’m so sorry, Gwern – she’s dead.”

"The police are on the way"

Cai comes back out of the school to report to Iolo, “The police are on their way.”

"You should never have let her leave"

Iolo rages that they should never have let Greta leave, but is told, “Dani was at the gate and Miss Price assumed that she was collecting Greta.

"Have you phoned your Dad?"

“Don’t get angry with me, Iol – every member of staff is searching.   Have you phoned your Dad?”

Iolo says that he is searching the village,

"I should be searching, too!"

adding, “And I should be searching, too!”   Cai advises that the best thing he can do is to wait for the police, and assures Iolo that they will find her.

All this noise is getting on Mark's nerves . . .

Seren is singing, loudly, and dancing to music on the television, much to Mark’s annoyance,

. . . and Gabriel is crying upstairs

and then Gabriel starts crying, so he goes upstairs.

"I'm sorry I'm only telling you this now . . ."

At the hospital Dani apologises that she is only telling Gwern now;

". . . I wanted to wait until you were strong enough"

“I just wanted to wait until you were strong enough,”

"Why did Cassie say she was in Birmingham?"

Gwern still cannot understand why Cassie said that she was in Birmingham.

"To protect you"

“To protect you,” Dani explains.

"Is Dad a murderer?"

He asks, “Was she lying about Dad as well?   That he’s a murderer?”

"He's going to prison – but he's not a murderer"

Dani emphasises that Garry is not;  he is going to be in prison for a long time, but he is not a murderer.   She suggests that they should leave that place and go home;  they can discuss everything in the house.

"I'm proud of you"

“I’m proud of you,” she tells him, “You’re brave and you’re strong – you’ll get through this, but it will take a long time to come to terms with not having your father and mother around.”

"You're my mother!"

“I haven’t lost my mother,” Gwern tells her, “You’re my mother!”

Dani hits him

Dani hugs him.

"Gaynor is staying with us"

Eileen feels very sorry for Britt when she hears that Gaynor is staying with them;

"Hope she goes back to Llwyncelyn before long"

“Well, I hope that she goes home to Llwyncelyn before long – for all your sakes.”

"Have you heard about Siôn White?"

“Have you heard about Siôn White?   The rumour is that Y Winllan has closed – kaput!   Blinds down and everything – it hasn’t been open for weeks.   Mind you, he might be helping Iolo and Greta.”

"That accident caused so much pain"

Eileen comments that the accident has caused so much pain, and Colin regards it as a good thing that she cannot remember much.

"I'm a little hazy as well"

“I’m a little hazy as well, to be honest with you – but my voice was very hoarse the following morning, so I must have been enjoying myself and singing a lot.

He remembers what he was singing . . .

“What was that song?   Yes –

‘For everyone who is faithful, beneath his banner,

Jesus has a crown, above in the kingdom of heaven’.

It is thought that these were not the words being sung, to the hymn tune Rachie, before the accident occurred.

. . . and Eileen also remembers something

A strange look that comes over Eileen’s face as he stops singing and he asks if she is OK.

"I remember sitting in the front . . ."

“That’s the song you were singing on the bus – I remember now – I remember sitting in the front

". . . next to Tyler, poor dab"

“and next to Tyler, poor dab.   I remember you singing in the back . . .

"Then I looked at Hywel – and . . ."

“and then I looked at Hywel – and . . . nothing else.”

"Perhaps it's for the best, Eileen"

Colin considers that it may be for the best that she does not remember any more,

Or is Eileen planning something?

but it appears quite probable that she does in fact remember more.

Mathew returns to APD . . .

Mathew comes back to APD and calls for Jason and Anita, but there is no answer;

. . . but when he goes behind the counter . . .

he goes round behind the counter,

. . . he discovers a stowaway

and is astonished to see Greta, sitting on the floor looking very upset.   She has an APD fleece over her legs.

"Seren is sorry for eating all the chocolates"

Mark is doing his best to tidy up at number 7 and Dani comes downstairs, reporting that Gwern is unpacking, with Seren helping him.   “She said she’s sorry that there is no chocolate left.”

He tries to look convincing as he tells her that they have both been angels in her absence;

"Perhaps not all afternoon"

“All right, perhaps not all afternoon, but some arts and crafts kept Seren quiet.   There’s a letter for you there from the Deri.

"I don't mind helping in an emergency"

“Listen, I don’t mind helping with the kids in an emergency like today – but I think we should have a chat about how things will work.   Are you staying here for long?   If you are, do you want me to move out?”

"They're releasing Tyler's body next week"

He notices that Dani is looking very concerned about the letter she is reading;  “Tyler’s body – they’re releasing it next week –

"It's just one thing after another"

“it’s just one thing after another!”

"Have you lost something, Siôn?"

Siôn comes hurrying into APD and Mathew asks him, “Have you lost something?

Greta is having some crisps

“Greta was just here behind the counter.”

"Don't ever do that again!"

Then Iolo comes rushing in and shouts at her, “Don’t ever do that again – do you hear?   Running away – the police have been looking for you!”

Greta is upset

Greta looks as if she is about to burst into tears as his father reprimands him,

"She needs to know she can't do things like this!"

but Iolo protests, “She needs to know that she can’t do things like this!”

"Why did you come here?"

Turning back to Greta, he continues his rant, “We’ve all been worried.   What came over you?   Why did you come here?”

"To look for Dadi"

“To look for Dadi,” she replies, and as Iolo realises how she feels, his anger evaporates,

"Dad's here now"

and he points out that Dad is here now.

"Right, I'd better make dinner, then"

Sioned comes back into the farmhouse and decides that she had better make dinner.   Eileen explains that Colin has been there until now and she will help in a minute,

"I have to phone someone first"

but first she has to go and phone someone;  “Hywel Llywelyn, if you must know.   I remembered something earlier and I want to discuss it with him.”

"Anything to avoid me"

“Anything to avoid me,” Sioned sneers, but her mother maintains she is not trying to avoid her, instead wanting them to be OK.

"I'll do anything, Sioned"

She says she will do anything;

"Anything except change your plans for Penrhewl!"

“Anything except change the plans for Penrhewl!” snaps Sioned.

"There may be better than Penrhewl"

“There may be better than Penrhewl,” Eileen remarks, enigmatically, and goes upstairs.

"She's not asleep yet"

Back at Y Felin, Iolo reports to his father that Greta is not yet asleep and he has left the little light on.

"Are we going ton talk about today?"

“Are we going to talk about today?” Siôn asks, but Iolo does not even want to think about today.

"I can't even look after one child"

“I don’t know how you got through this with the three of us,” he says, “I can’t even look after one child.”

"You're coping better than many would"

Siôn knows that he is doing his best, and acknowledges that he has been heavy-handed, but Iolo is coping better than many would.

Another message alert

Iolo’s phone sounds with another message alert,

"Less of that phone might help"

and his father suggests, “Less of that phone might help – I know you take comfort from messages and comments, but Greta and I would like to have Iolo back in the room with us.”

"You're probably right, Dad"

Iolo realises that he is right and turns off the phone, while Siôn will go and make a cup of tea.

"Where's my dinner?"

Britt is working on the accounts when Colin returns to number 21 and informs her, “Penrhewl is sorted and the shop is closed for the night – where’s my dinner?”

"You'll have to make your own"

She replies that he will have to make his own dinner, and Gaynor has popped out to get herself something.

“Oh, she’s still here, is she?” he groans, “Don’t worry – she won’t be here long, once she sorts things out with Hywel.”

"The Deri, MFC, the garage . . ."

That is not what is worrying Britt, but rather everything else;  “The Deri, MFC, the garage, finding a way to pay Garry’s legal costs.”

"Dani's rent will help with that"

Colin remarks that Dani’s rent will help with that, but he is told, “It was supposed to – but she’s moved out – I don’t blame her.   Would you want to live your ex’s home?”

"It hasn't stopped Gaynor!"

“It hasn’t stopped Gaynor,” Colin jokes, which Britt finds hilariously funny and they have a good laugh together.

"That's the first time I've laughed today!"

She realises that this is the first time she has laughed today.

“I don’t want to waste time worrying about one thing after another,” she moans,

"You are all right, aren't you?"

and Colin is worried that she is not OK.   “I am worried that all this is too much for me – I don’t want to be ill

"I don't want this to affect our relationship"

“and I don’t want this work to affect our relationship.”

"Do you need more staff, or a new lodger?"

Colin assures her that he is there for her and asks whether she needs more staff for MFC and the Deri – or a new lodger for the flat.   She does not consider that would be enough;

"I'm going to sell the Deri"

“But I do think I know what would be – I’m going to sell the Deri.”

Colin was not expecting that

Colin looks surprised.
