Hywel looks depressed |

![]() |
"What exactly is that supposed to mean?" |
“What exactly is that supposed to mean?” he demands, as Gaynor calls to Esther to come and get her breakfast. “I’m not going and that’s it!” he decides,

"You can't carry on like this, Hywel!" |
but she warns him he cannot carry on like this; he has hardly left the house since the accident.
![]() |
"How am I supposed to face people?" |

"I was not responsible for the accident!" |
“How many times do I have to say it? I wasn’t to blame for the accident!” Gaynor snarls,
![]() |
Gaynor calls to Esther |

![]() |
"Britt said Gwern is talking a little bit" |

![]() |
"Are you going to talk about Dylan?" |
“Are you going to talk about Dylan?” she wants to know, and he says that he is, if that is all right with her. “Yeah, well, he was Gabriel’s father, wasn’t he?”
![]() |
"He's at the reason Garry's in prison" |
“I wasn’t sure, you see, because he’s the reason Garry’s in prison,” Colin goes on.
![]() |

Dani is eager to point out that Garry is in prison because he deserves to be there.
![]() |
"Will you say a few words about Tyler?" |
“Will you say a few words about Tyler?” Colin asks, “You were his sister.”
![]() |
"I can't stand there in front of people" |

![]() |
"Is Gwern well enough to have these?" |
Colin reaches into his pocket and takes out a packet of those sweets, if Gwern is well enough to have them, and Dani thanks him, before setting off for the hospital.
![]() |

![]() |
"Several people wish she had never existed!" |
“There are several people in Cwmderi who wish she had never existed!” Megan snarls, “And when the time comes to bury her, she’ll have a council funeral – no-one in the family will organise one!”
![]() |
"She should have a proper funeral" |
Cassie is adamant that she should have a proper funeral; “Cremation, burial – it doesn’t matter, as long as she’s in the cemetery like everyone else in this village. And I want a service at the graveside.”
![]() |
"What – after everything she's done?" |
“What – after everything she’s done?” gasps Megan,
![]() |
"We're not here to judge, Megan" |
and Cassie points out that they are not here to judge, but to try and understand each other.
![]() |
"Understand someone like her?" |
“Do you think it’s possible to understand someone like Gwyneth?” Megan demands,

![]() |
"The deacons will have to approve it" |
“It won’t be a matter for me in the end – the deacons will have to approve it,” says Megan, and Cassie hopes that she will support the proposal. “But aren’t you worried about making people angry?”

![]() |
"Going on about the smells of dead people!" |

Cassie emphasises, “There’s another side to all of us,”
![]() |
"Not everyone goes round killing their neighbours" |
and Kath insists that not everyone goes around killing their neighbours.
“She murdered Jaclyn – I don’t know what you’re considering giving her a respectable funeral.” Cassie comments that she asked Megan to keep it to herself. “Well, you’re lucky that she told me, then – everyone else will think you’re mad!

![]() |
"He's got a guilty conscience" |
“Why do you think he hasn’t been to see you, Dani? You’d expect Councillor Hywel Llywelyn to be the first to come and see you – unless he’s got a guilty conscience.” This makes Dani think.

he was way under the limit.
![]() |
"Now you can go to the village" |
“Right, what did I tell you?” says Gaynor, “Now go to the village – you have no reason to hide here now, do you?” Cai also encourages him to do so, and they can go together – the insurance document can wait.

"Perhaps I shall get a bit of peace" |
Hywel succumbs to their entreaties, hoping that it will get him a little bit of peace.

but is reminded, “You promised to keep it quiet.”
![]() |
"It wasn't something I could keep to myself" |
“It wasn’t something I could keep to myself,” Megan protests, and is accused of talking behind Cassie’s back. “Listen – we have to consider everyone’s feelings at a time like this – the cemetery is for this area and so people have the right to know,” growls Megan
![]() |
She walks away |
and then stalks off.
