Diane enters through the back door of Bryntirion just as Dai comes downstairs, yawning; “You’re still not dressed!” she scolds him, “I’ve taken Ifan to drama club, done the food shopping – and you’re still in your pyjamas!”

He tells her to be quiet and simply listen; “Can you hear that? Silence – oh, lovely,” he says, “When was the last time we had the house to ourselves?

"I'm going to make the most of this peace and quiet" |
“I’m going to enjoy today and make the most of all of this peace and quiet.”

"What's that noise?" |
However, as soon as he has said this, there is the sound of a key in the front door

Griffiths appears |
and Griffiths appears. “Ieuan, what are you doing here?” Diane asks,

"Everyone in the village has a key to this house!" |
and Dai complains that everyone in the village has a key to this house.

"I thought I left my coat here" |
Griffiths was under the impression he had left his coat there, but they have not seen it; “Don’t worry – it must be at home,” he says but is looking very uncomfortable.
Diane enquires if anything is wrong,![]() |
"Anita's moving out" |
and he explains, “Anita’s moving out.”

"Seen sense at last, has she?" |
“Oh – she’s seen sense, has she” Dai asks,

Then comes the bad news |
but when he hears that Anita intends to come back to Bryntirion, he is outraged.

"I tried everything to make her stay" |
“I tried everything to make her stay,” Griffiths protests, but Diane points out that he has not tried hard enough. “I have to go – someone is coming to see me – five minutes ago!” Ieuan goes on, “Can you talk to her?”

“Don’t you worry – I’ll sort Anita out!” Diane informs him, with determination.

Iolo arrives at the Deri flat . . . |
Dani is folding washing when Iolo comes into the flat; she explains, “Seren’s gone to a friend’s house, wearing Gwern’s old trousers and Gabriel is at the childminder’s with one sock on.

“With everything, the washing isn’t a priority.”
Iolo volunteers to help with folding the washing and asks if she has eaten today;

“Right, leave that to me and go and eat something, please.” As she does so he asks about Gwern,

and is told that he is confused, but that is only to be expected. Britt is with him at the moment while Dani gets things organised in the flat.

She gets out of a packet of cereal and Iolo wonders if he knows about Gwyneth;

She puts something in the fridge . . . |
“No – not yet – he just needs time to recover,” she answers.

She opens the fridge and find a toy rabbit inside;

“I have to go and identify Tyler’s body,” she groans.

Diane has gone straight to APD where she confronts Anita; “What’s this I’m hearing? You want to move back to Bryntirion?”

"The wedding was over a week ago" |
Anita explains that she stayed with Ieuan to give everyone space during the wedding – but that was over a week ago.

"Sorry, there's no room at the inn" |
Diane announces, “Sorry, there’s no room at the inn – you’ll have to stay with Ieuan.” Anita says that she cannot do that; “Why not? Don’t you like him?” asks Diane.

“It’s not that I don’t like him – just I’m an independent woman, you know.”
Diane counters with, “You should have thought about that before selling number 10.” Mathew, behind the counter, appears to be amused by this conversation,

as Diane spells it out that Bryntirion is her and Dai’s home.

"You're not going back to Australia, then?" |
“You’re not going back to Australia, then?” Anita demands, and is told not to change the subject. It appears to Diane that Anita is scared to commit, and proposes that they write down the pros and cons of living with Ieuan Griffiths.

Iolo asks Dani if she has to go; “The police have asked me,” she replies,

and he offers to go with her. “You have no idea how much that means to me,” she says,

Diane is compiling the list, Anita says that she loves his aftershave; “Oh, sexy aftershave is it?” smiles Diane, and there is about to be another suggestion

when they both look at Mathew. He thinks it wise to go elsewhere while this list is being written.

“He always puts the toilet seat down after he uses it,” says Anita.
Diane can see that he is better than Dai;

“He’s like a tomcat, spraying the walls.” Anita seems rather disgusted by this,

and points out that Ieuan is used to living with his mother.
“And he always says sorry if he farts in bed,” Anita adds,

which Diane regards as a sign that he is a gentleman. She comments that there are only pros on the list at the moment, but Anita admits, “He can wind me up – but I can’t imagine being without him –

DJ approaches as Mathew is outside APD; “Nice for some – haven’t you got any work to do?” he asks. Mathew says that he is taking a break from hearing about Anita’s love life.

“Eileen is having an operation on her leg today, so Sioned is back and forth to the hospital – I have to do everything.” Mathew knows that they are in the middle of lambing at the moment, and wonders if there is anyone to help.

“Everybody’s busy – have you got any galvanised nails in stock?” He is told that there are plenty inside and then DJ realises he has left his wallet at home.

“Pay another time – listen, is there anything I can do to help at Penrhewl?” Mathew asks, “I have done a few shifts on my uncle’s farm – I can help you out.

DJ admits that he could use another pair of hands, so Mathew will go and get the nails, then find his best wellingtons.

Jinx, whose right arm is in a sling, is in the shop and Colin asks if he has seen the poster; “We’re having a vigil tomorrow night – I hope you can come. We want to remember everyone who’s suffering.”

“Even those with minor injuries, like me?” enquires Jinx, and is told that everyone is included –

Cai grumbles that at least she has phoned; “I haven’t heard a word from her.” Jinx reminds him that he just said that he was OK.

“Ask Colin – I’ve just finished putting them up and I’ve got to take them all down!” Mark moans.

As he goes off to retrieve all the posters, Griffiths comes in, looking anxious; he asks Diane, “Did you see Anita?

She takes great delight in telling him, “Well, after a word of advice from me, she has realised that she wants to stay with you.” Ieuan cannot believe his good fortune and enquires how Diane managed to persuade her; “She was determined to leave this morning.”

As they make the corrections to the poster, Colin remarks that it was lucky Diane saw it; “Dani could have seen it.” Mark cannot understand why one letter should cause such trouble.

Then he gets out the biscuits and DJ notices his dirty condition.

Dani and Iolo arrived back in the Deri; she thinks that they deserve a drink. “You do – I don’t deserve anything,” groans Iolo, and she urges him to stop punishing himself.”

Mark is outraged at the thought that he has taken a photo of Tyler’s body, but Iolo explains, “This is one of him alive.” Dani says that they will need a good photo for the order of service, and he is confident that he will have a good send off.

“I don’t think Tyler would want a big funeral, though,” Iolo suggests, but Dani maintains that it can still be special.
