29 March 2023

A car arrives at the Glyndwr . . .

A smartly turned-out vintage car rolls up the drive of the Glyndwr

. . . but only Amanda is on board

and Amanda alights, alone.   Inside the hotel, Matthew is directing the guests to the correct sides of the room,

"Where have you been . . . "

and when he sees Amanda, he exclaims, “At last – where have you been?

". . . and where's Kelly?"

“Where’s Kelly?”

Amanda had expected her to be there,

"Where's Kelly?"

and then Anita sees her;  “What’s wrong?” she demands, and Amanda does not know where Kelly is.

Surely that is Ffion's car

In fact she is sitting in a car outside Cysgod y Glyn with Jinx;

"Mam made things sound so simple"

“Mam made things sound so simple, but they’re not!” she says,

"Things have never been simple with us"

and Jinx comments that things have never been simple with them.

Jinx holds her hand

He grasps her hand and tells her,

"I can make things a lot less complicated"

“I can make things a lot less complicated for you,”

Jinx kisses her . . .

then he leans forward and kisses her.

. . . "For the last time"

“For the last time,” he continues, “Forget about me, Kelly, OK?   Marry Jason and be happy.”

"Do you mean that?"

She can hardly believe that he means it, but he swears, “Hand on heart – if that’s what you want.”

"You could have had a better crop"

At the Glyndwr, Jason is told by his mother that he looks very handsome, “But you could have had a better crop.”

"That's the way Kelly likes it"

He points out that this is the way Kelly likes his hair, so he is keeping it like that.

Mathew enters the room . . .

Mathew comes through the door and Diane assumes that Kelly has arrived;

. . . and Dai is watching

Dai, who is keeping an eye on Ifan, is watching as Mathew advises Jason that they have a problem;

"We can't find Kelly"

“We can’t find Kelly.”

"What do you mean, you can't find her?"

“What do you mean, you can’t find her?” Dai snarls;  he is told that Amanda is here, and Kelly was supposed to be with her, but there was no sign of her.”

Diane suspects that she has run away,

"Are we going to have to cancel the whole shebang?"

and Dai is concerned, “Are we going to have to cancel the whole shebang?”   Mathew says that he has been trying to contact Jinx, but with no success,

Jinx beckons to Jason

and at that moment Jinx arrives, and attracts Jason’s attention.

“Have you seen Kelly?” Jason demands, and Mathew want him to go outside for a moment.

"What's going on, Jinx?"

Jason still wants to know what is going on, and is again urged to go outside.

People are taking notice

By this time the guests are also concerned about what is happening.

"Just come outside, now!"

“Please don’t make a scene – just come outside with me now,” says Jinx,

"Just tell me if Kelly's changed her mind"

and as they go out of the hotel, Jason demands to be told now if Kelly has changed her mind.

"I haven;'t changed my mind . . ."

A voice behind him announces, “No, I haven’t changed my mind –

". . . not exactly, anyway"

“not exactly, anyway.”

"You'll be needing these"

Jinx hands over the rings

"Come on, Jase"

as Kelly continues, “Jase,” and stretches out her hand to him.

She cannot resist a glance back at Jinx

They walk together into the garden and Jinx sadly watches them go, before he goes back inside.

"I just want you, Jason"

“I want you – I don’t want all the fuss and palaver – I just want you,” she tells him.”

"But everything is arranged"

He points out that a lot of people have been waiting for her and everything is arranged.

"Yes, by other people"

“Yes, by other people – I don’t want a pantomime and you know that,” Kelly stresses.

"How are we going to tell Mam and Auntie Neet?"

“How are we going to tell Mam and Auntie Neet?” Jason demands, “Look at all the effort they’ve put in, choosing swatches for you – they’re going to kill us, Kelly – your mother included!   Whichever one gets to us first!”

"Starting married life on the right foot!"

Kelly’s reaction is to laugh, “Starting married life on the right foot!

"Are you up for it, or what?"

“Are you up for it, or what?   Because . . .”

Everything is ready for them

He follows her gaze and turns round to see the two celebrants in the garden, with Iolo and Tyler, waiting for them.

“We need witnesses,” she explains, but Jason is not keen on having Tyler involved.

"No more drama today, please"

She rebukes him, “Jason, no more drama today, please.”

There is no reply from Kelly's phone

Inside the hotel, people are becoming restless, and Anita is still trying to contact Kelly’s phone, but without any success.   Diane wonders if she and Ieuan have arranged some sort of surprise.

"We've got another problem now!"

Then Anita receives a text alert and gasps, “Well, if this wedding does go ahead, we’ve got another problem now,”

She shows them the message

and she shows her phone to Diane.

Gaynor has found the drink supply . . .

Gaynor, carrying two glasses, totters into the room and Britt wonders where she got the drinks;  “Through there – there’s no point wasting them,” she replies, but Hywel comments that they do not know that the wedding is off yet.

. . . so Britt and Colin go in search of champagne

“If it isn’t, we’ll be celebrating early,” suggests Colin, so he and Britt go off in search of some champagne.   Anita suddenly warns Hywel that he had better stay sober because she and Diane have a favour to ask him.

Hywel is required to do the disco

“You know all those hours of volunteering I’ve done for CwmFM?   Would you be willing to do the disco?   Listen, all the equipment’s here, but Dilwyn’s fallen off a ladder or something – we can’t have a wedding party without a disco!   I knew I could depend on you, Hywel.”

"If the wedding takes place at all"

He does not seem to have much choice, as Anita boasts to Diane that he has saved the day;  “If the wedding takes place at all,” Hywel groans,

"All the more for me, then"

and Gaynor gleefully concludes that it means more alcohol for her.

"You know what you're like when you mix your drinks"

“You know what you’re like when you mix your drinks – you cry like a baby,” he moans,

"She's more fun when she's drunk!"

but Cai remarks that she is more fun when she is drunk, and she tells Hywel to ‘chill’.

"I, Jason Francis, take you, Kelly Charlene Evans . . ."

“I, Jason Francis, take you, Kelly Charlene Evans as my lifetime partner.

". . . I promise to love, respect and care for you"

“I promise to love you, respect you and care for you.”

The witnesses watch

Iolo and Tyler witness this event, as Kelly replies,

"I, Kelly Charlene Evans, take you, Jason Francis . . ."

“I, Kelly Charlene Evans, take you, Jason Francis, as my lifetime partner.

". . . I promise to love, respect ask care for you"

I promise to love you, respect you, care for you.”

"Make you laugh"

Jason:  “Make you laugh.”

"Wipe away your tears"

Kelly:  “Wipe away your tears.”

Jason:  “Be there for you until death do us part.”

Kelly:  “Until death do us part.”

"Congratulations, Mr and Mrs Francis-Evans"

They are told, “It’s my pleasure to announce that you are officially married – congratulations Mr and Mrs Francis-Evans.”

They kiss . . .

They kiss as they are applauded by Iolo and Tyler,

. . . as little Ifan . . .

and Ifan, who has also been watching,

. . . is enjoying himself

seems very enthusiastic about it.

Gwyneth looks preoccupied

Gwyneth retrieves the darts from the board and is surprised to see Tesni, who asks if she can play;  “Are you sure you’re all right to leave the flat?” she is asked,

"Have I done something, Gwyneth?"

and Tesni imagines that she has done something.   “I don’t want you getting sick again,” replies Gwyneth,

Garry and Gwern are back

and then Garry and Gwern come in, earlier than expected.

Garry says that he has a couple of things to do;  “I heard that you and Gwern are watching a film tonight,” he says, and Gwern would like to stay over so they can watch two or three.

"I'll go upstairs and tell Dani"

He will go upstairs to grab a few things and tell Dani.

"Have you got a lot on?"

Gwyneth asks Garry if he has a lot on,

"People want everything done yesterday"

and is told, “Yeah – you know how things are – everyone wants everything done yesterday – enjoy the film.”

"Let's go, Mam"

Within a few seconds, Gwern is back downstairs and leaves the Deri with his mother;

Tesni has been watching

Tesni has been watching Gwyneth.

"I hope everything's all right out there"

Inside the hotel, Jinx is looking very solemn, and Mathew hopes that everything is all right with Jason and Kelly.   Jinx tells him that it is, and is asked, “Did she tell you anything earlier?”

“Nothing important,” says Jinx,

"Dewi Lloyd went on and on!"

just as Ieuan Griffiths rushes in, full of apologies;  “Dewi Lloyd went on and on and on,” he complains, “Am I too late?”   He confirms that Kelly is not with him,

A sigh of disappointment

and there is a collective sigh of disappointment.

Diane says that she is just a bit late, and that is all, but Anita thinks that it is getting rather embarrassing now,

"Anita, we ought to do something"

and Diane wonders if they ought to do something.   “Like what, for example?” demands Anita.

Diane turns furiously to Dai;  “Don’t just sit there like a statue – can’t you think of something?”

"Good grief, woman!"

“Why me?” he snarls, “Good grief, woman – this fiasco’s got nothing to do with me!”

Iolo comes in . . .

Then as Iolo comes in through the door, he adds, “Hold on, this one looks as if he’s got something to say.”

. . . and announces . . .

Iolo stands by the microphone and calls for attention;  “It’s my pleasure to ask you all to put your hands together

. . . the arrival of Mr and Mrs Francis-Evans

“and welcome Mr and Mrs Francis-Evans!”

All eyes turn in their direction as Kelly and Jason make their entrance, to the surprise of the guests.

"We did it!   We did it!"

“Erm, we did it – we did it!” they exclaim, which is the cue for a riotous round of applause.

"We decided to do it our way!"

“Sorry about this, but you know Jason and me by now – we decided to do it our way,” Kelly tells them.  Jason advises the multitude that there is food available, as they must be starving, and it is the first door on the left.

"No speeches – do you hear that, Dai?"

He also reminds them, “There are to be no speeches – do you hear that, Dai?”

"I couldn't find anything nice to say about you"

“That’s good, because I couldn’t find any nice things to say about you,” Dai grumpily replies, and he is first in line to get to the food.

The happy couple . . .

Kelly and Jason are radiantly happy;

. . . and the disappointed onlooker

Jinx manages rueful smile as he looks at Kelly.

The pizza is not quite right

At number 9, Gwyneth seems to have mistimed the pizza, which is looking rather burnt and Gwern wants to know what they are having for their dinner.

"I think there's another one in the freezer:

She thinks there may be another pizza in the freezer, but he objects to having an Hawaiian one, and she advises him to remove the pineapple.

"We won't have time to watch 'End Game"

He predicts they will not have time to watch ‘End Game’ as it lasts three hours.   His is getting rather angry, and Gwyneth suggests that they could have an MFC.

"You've been really moody lately"

“You’ve been really moody lately,” he moans, and she maintains that she is trying her best;

"Things have been difficult for all of us"

things have been difficult for them all.

"Nuggets and chips?"

She will get nuggets and chips.

Hywel is acting as DJ

Hywel is manning the controls for the disco;

Gaynor is getting really 'stuck in'

he notices Gaynor engaged in some heavy-duty drinking.

"Don't tell me you're the DJ?"

Colin approaches, complaining, “Don’t tell me you’re the DJ?”

"I've only had a pint and a Bloody Mary"

and Hywel moans that he has only had a pint and a Bloody Mary all day.   Gaynor said that he would make a fool of himself.

Colin had been looking forward to Dilwyn, and predicts that Hywel will not fill the dance floor.

"In that case, you might as well have the keys"

Cai decides that he might as well hand over the minibus keys, so he can have a pint.

“Come on, Hywel – I’ve sorted myself out – I can have a couple!” he insists and meanwhile Gaynor is getting herself another drink.   “You’ll need to be sober to look after Gaynor,” Cai adds,

"And you'll need a bucket!"

and Siôn advises that he will also need a bucket.

Mathew is handed the microphone and addresses the multitude;

"The married couple are ready for their first dance"

“The married couple are ready for their first dance – can we clear the floor, please?   DJ Hywel, off we go.”

The happy couple take to the floor and Kelly mutters, “Embarrassing!”

"Is it me, or is this really awkward?"

Jason asks, “Is it me, or is this really awkward?”

"I wish I could curl up and die!"

Kelly agrees that it most certainly is, and that she seriously wishes she could curl up and die.

"Come on – help me out here, please!"

Jason asks for a little help here;  for someone to join them.   “Come on – this is horrendous, seriously.”

DJ and Sioned take to the floor

DJ and Sioned take up the challenge.

Mandy seems very eager to dance with Siôn,

"I thought you'd never ask"

and he says he thought she would never ask;  meanwhile Gaynor is holding a tray with several glasses.

"Would you like to dance, Anita?"

Mathew invites Anita for a dance,

"Who am I supposed to dance with?"

and Gaynor asks who she is supposed to dance with.

Iolo takes pity on her

Iolo comes to her aid.

Dylan is given a drink

In the garage, Garry is supplying Dylan with some water,

"We'll do it right this time"

and informs him, “Once you’re better, and safe, we’ll go after her – but we’ll do it right this time – evidence, the police.   No more of these stupid games between us.”

Garry packs away the bloodstained clothes

He packs away the bloodstained clothes into a bag and Dylan demands where they will be going.

"There's an ex-doctor with AMS"

“Not far – there’s an ex-doctor with the AMS [whatever that is].   You’ll be in safe hands.”

"Thank you, Garry"

Dylan thanks him,

However the gag is still replaced

but he nevertheless replaces the gag.

"The honeymoon . . ."

As the celebrations continue, Jason says, “There’s one thing we haven’t thought about – the honeymoon.”

"We can go another time"

Kelly replies that they can go another time, but he goes on, “Or we could just go tonight – it’s already booked.   I found a really nice campsite just outside Slebech – it’s got Internet and electricity – the campervan’s waiting.”   Only then does he add that he is joking.

"You're the best husband ever!"

Kelly is pleased to hear that, and even more excited when she hears that they are going to Spain;  “You’re the best husband ever!” she squeals.

Eileen comes over to congratulate them, and Jason says they have just heard about Sioned and DJ going to Ireland, predicting that it will be quiet without them.

"She's someone else's problem now"

“She’s someone else’s problem now,” snaps Eileen, then the music changes to a Macarena [whatever that is] and everyone is joining in.

"Perhaps later"

Iolo wonders if Tyler is going to show off his moves, and is told, “Not yet – perhaps later.”   Then the phone can be heard and Tyler discovers that the last part of his job is tomorrow;  “Then I’ll be free.”

Gwyneth comes out of MFC . . .

Gwyneth comes out of MFC and happens to look in the direction of the garage;

. . . and notices Garry

she sees Garry coming from there, carrying a black sack towards the Deri.

Gwern's nuggets are going to get cold

She puts down her purchases on the windowsill and goes across,

Gwyneth goes into the garage

letting herself into the erstwhile ‘Dairy’.

The inspection pit is illuminated by a couple of lamps and she peers down to see Dylan sleeping.

Dylan is horrified by . . .

He suddenly becomes aware of her presence and looks up,

. . . the hideous face staring at him

horrified, at her malevolent features.   He is increasingly terrified.

Siôn is getting wild . . .

Back on the dance floor Siôn seems to be exhibiting his wild, abandoned side,

. . . and everyone is gyrating

and everyone is gyrating in time to the music.

Gwyneth picks up the wrecking bar

Gwyneth, who is not wearing gloves, picks up the wrecking bar and carries it towards the inspection pit.

As the dancing reaches fever pitch . . .

The dancing is now reaching fever pitch,

. . . Dylan can see the fate awaiting him

but in the semi-darkness of the garage Gwyneth raises the wrecking bar, with Dylan watching her intently.

She is about to deliver the blow

She raises it above her head with hatred in her eyes, then brings it down with all her strength.

Ieuan fills the champagne glass

At the hotel, Ieuan opens another bottle of champagne and pours it into glasses.

The deed done, Gwyneth drops the weapon

Gwyneth’s shoe is splattered with blood as she drops the murder weapon to the floor.
