Neither of them is getting any response |
On the day of the court case, Jason is banging on the door of Hywel’s house and shouting Sara’s name; simultaneously Dylan is trying to gain entry to the Deri.
“Dylan, I’m looking for Sara,” says Jason,
"She's already gone to the court" |
but he is told that she is not there, she has already gone to the court. “The thing is I’ve been trying to get in touch with her for days –
"Kelly says she can look after Ifan" |
“Kelly says she can look after Ifan while we’re in court,” Jason adds.
“There’s no need,” replies slimy Dylan, “I’ve already taken him to the childminder’s.”
"I wish she would check with me first" |
Jason is disappointed that Sara did not check with him first,
"Do you want to borrow a tie?" |
and Dylan wonders, “Do you want to borrow a tie? You don’t want to be late!” As Jason walks away, Dylan smiles.
"I'm not going to waste any more of my time" |
At Maes-y-Deri, Kath is looking at the laptop and sighs, “Do you know what? I’m not going to waste any more of my time with these dating websites.”
"You've had a few replies" |
Cassie reminds her that she has had a few replies, but Kath is very unimpressed, pointing out, “I got one private message from this bloke –
"This one showed me more than his profile!" |
“and he showed me more than his profile! I’ve deleted it and reported him!”
Cassie is still determined to find her a date, and Non has just come in through the back door, but Kath has to go to Penrhewl, as she promised to help Eileen, who is up to her eyes with all the wedding stuff. “Finding you a partner is more important than packing veg!” Cassie insists.
"I can go instead, Kath" |
Non sees her opportunity here and offers to go in Kath’s place; “I don’t have much on today – I don’t mind helping if it means you will find the love of your life.” Kath reluctantly takes off her coat again, while Non looks very pleased with herself.
"Sara had already left" |
In the café flat, Jason reports to Kelly that Sara had already left;
"Dylan always looks shifty" |
“And Dylan – well, Dylan always looks shifty.”
"You're paranoid, Jase" |
She accuses him of being paranoid, possibly because he is nervous about today. “Do I look messy to you?” he demands, but her reply is that he looks gorgeous.
"I got curry on my tie" |
He laments that his one and only tie is covered with curry stains; Kelly reassures him that he is fine,
"I'll call at Bryntirion to get one" |
but he proposes to call at Bryntirion to get a tie. “Hurry up, then, or you’ll be late,” she urges him,
"Cool head, Jase!" |
adding, “Cool head!”
Eileen is pleased with the cake . . . |
At Penrhewl, Eileen is looking at the Wedding Cake she has made and reminds Sioned to phone Megan; “She needs to open the chapel for the flower woman.” Sioned has already done that,
. . .but hopes it is not too dry |
and her mother hopes that the cake will not be too dry.
"If you want someone to taste it, Eileen . . ." |
DJ has just come into the room and suggests, “If you want someone to taste it, I know just the boy.”
A text in his phone disturbs him . . . |
His phone sounds, and he looks disturbed to see the message;
. . . Non is on her way |
‘I can’t wait any longer. I’m coming to see you.’
When he takes Sioned to the village, Eileen wants him to make a vegetable delivery; DJ is anxious to go, before Non’s arrival, but the order has not been prepared yet.
Jason suspects an intruder at Bryntirion . . . |
Jason arrives at Bryntirion to find that someone is already there, and he looks concerned;
. . and equips himself with a golf club . . . |
there is no sign of anyone, but then he hears a sound on the stairs, so he arms himself with a golf club, which happens to be in the kitchen.
. . . then finds it is Sara |
Then he discovers that the intruder is Sara, and is very confused.
"I had nowhere else to go" |
“Sorry – I had nowhere else to go – I had no choice – I had to make sure Ifan was safe!” she wails, and Jason wants to know what has happened.
"It's Dylan – we've argued!" |
“Dylan,” she goes on, “We’ve argued!” and he wonders why she has broken into Bryntirion because she has argued with him. He is also concerned about Ifan’s safety, but Sara says that he is fast asleep upstairs.
Dylan has been lying . . . again |
“Dylan told me you were on the way to court, and Ifan was with the childminder!” he rages, and seeing Sara’s tears, demands if Dylan has hurt her.
"What do you think I'm going to do, Sara?" |
Still clutching the golf club, he heads towards the door, intending to use it on Dylan, but she begs him to stop.
"Just leave it – you'll only make things worse!" |
“No, Jase, please – just leave it!” You’ll only make things worse, and Dylan’s not worth it! All I want is to be left alone, please, Jason!” she sobs, and he relents.
"Does he know you're here?" |
“Does you know you’re here?” Jason asks, and she is convinced that Dylan does not give a damn about her – it is over.
"Dani's expecting his baby!" |
“He’s already moved on – with Dani. She’s expecting his baby!” Sara reveals.
He was not expecting that |
This comes as a shock to Jason.
"Why didn't you tell me you were pregnant?" |
Dylan is in the Deri flat, where he asks, “Why didn’t you tell me you were pregnant?”
"It's nothing to do with you" |
She answers that it is nothing to do with him, but he maintains that if he is the father,
"We need to talk, for the baby's sake" |
they need to talk, just for a couple of minutes, for the baby’s sake. She is in a hurry to get to work at the salon.
“And you had no idea that Dylan had slept with Dani?” Jason continues,
"And I was going to marry him!" |
and Sara cannot believe that she was going to marry him. He is convinced that she must have suspected something, and she agrees that sometimes she had her doubts, but he was so charming.
Jason laughs as she goes on, “He came across as being so successful, but all he did was spout one lie after another.
"You must think I got what I deserved" |
“He promised me the world – just did enough to keep me happy. I’ve been a real fool, Jason – you must think I’ve got exactly what I deserved.”
"No, I don't think that, Sara" |
On the contrary, he does not think that at all; “I gave up everything for him – us, our family.” He confesses that, to be fair, he was responsible for what happened between them – making a mess of everything.
"I shouldn't have chosen Dylan" |
“But I should not have chosen Dylan – you were right,” she concludes.
"You can stay here, Sara" |
Jason is quite happy for her to stay at Bryntirion until she sorts herself out, and she is very grateful;
"You and Ifan will be safe here" |
“You and Ifan will be safe here – I’ll make sure of that.”
"How did you find out?" |
Dani asks how Dylan found out; “Garry told Sara – and now she’s left,” he explains, for which Dani is very sorry.
He is not at all perturbed |
“I’m not – I tried my best, but living with her got to be so hard,” he says, “If I’d left her, she would have lost custody of Ifan – I couldn’t do that to her, or him.
He lies that he loves Ifan |
“I loved that kid – but there we go, we’re over now – thanks to Garry!”
"He'll come after me next" |
Dani knew that Garry would do something like this, and predicts, “He’ll come after me next,”
"I won't let him do anything to you" |
but Dylan promises he will not let him do anything to her.
"I can look after myself" |
“I can look after myself,” Dani assures him,
"I want to look after both of you" |
but Dylan wants to look after them both, and begs her not to push him away.
"Should I wear my hair up or down?" |
Sioned debates whether she should wear her hair up or down on the big day, suggesting, “I’ll ask Mandy what she thinks.”
An unwelcome visitor arrives |
Then there is a knock at the door and Non comes in, much to Sioned’s displeasure; “Kath had to go to the dentist, so I’m standing in for her,” she says. When Eileen suggests that she can help out with the orders,
"I can do that, Mam!" |
Sioned protests that she can do that, but her mother insists that everything is to be done today.
They are going to the Glyndwr spa |
“I wasn’t going to say anything, but I’ve booked us into the spa at the Glyndwr in a few days – that’s why I want everything done.”
Non detects am opportunity here |
Non appears to regard this as an opportunity for her. “You deserve to be spoiled before the big day,” Sioned’s mother tells her.
Sioned glowers at Non . . . |
Sioned
. . . and Non does the same |
and Non look at each other.
Jason's determined look |
Jason is wearing a determined look as Sara concedes, “You were right – Ifan should be with you!” He demands what would make her say something like that now, but she whines, “What can I offer him? I’ve got nothing – anyway, I don’t trust myself. I stayed with Dylan for so long and put Ifan in a lot of danger.”
"He needs his mother – and you need him" |
He makes it quite clear that he is not going to take Ifan away from her, insisting, “He needs his mother – and you need him too.” She points out that is up to the court to decide.
"There's no need to go to court" |
“That’s what I’m trying to say – there’s no need to go to court,” Jason explains, “Can’t we sort it out now, just the two of us? Ifan can spend half his time with me and the other half with you. I don’t need this circus any more – do you?”
Sara apologises for her behaviour |
She apologises for the way she has been behaving lately; “I thought you were taking the most important thing in my life!”
"Ifan needs his mother and father" |
He is sorry for even considering such a thing; “Ifan needs his mother and father in his life all the time. Shall I phone them to say we’re not going?”
They have reached an agreement |
Sara smiles through her tears and nods her head.
"Now you can concentrate on Aled" |
Dani comments, “If Sara and Ifan aren’t around, you can concentrate on Aled – you did promise. You want to be part of the baby’s life, but Aled needs you too. He’s so upset after Tyler finished things.”
"I don't know what to do" |
Dylan argues that he does not know what to do,
"Stop making excuses" |
and she suggests, “Be there for him – stop making excuses,” and he agrees to try. He knows that he turned his back on Aled, and that was wrong, but maintains that he was scared. He did not know how to deal with the situation, but does not want to make the same mistake again.
“I’m not saying I’ll know what to do this time, but I’m willing to try,” he tells her, “I’ll come to the scans.”
"You're pushing it now, Dylan!" |
This is the final straw, and she insists that he is pushing it now; besides that, she has to go to the salon.
His favourite pose, presumably intended to indicate sincerity |
He falls to one knee, spreads out his arms and begs, “Give me a chance, please – I won’t let you down.”
"I'll think about it" |
She replies that she will think about it, and instructs him to leave the flat now.
"I've been trying to contact you!" |
Jason returns to the café flat, where Kelly is worried and has been trying to contact him;
"I didn't go to court!" |
“I didn’t go to court!” he announces, which comes as a rather a shock to her. “Sara and I have decided to share custody of Ifan – we’ve sorted it out.”
"What – no screaming ab-dabs?" |
“You’ve sorted it out? No lawyers, no court, no screaming ab-dabs?” demands Kelly, and he begins his explanation. When he went to Bryntirion to get a tie, he found Sara, who was hiding. She had broken in because she was trying to get away from Dylan.
"Dani's pregnant with his baby!" |
“They’ve finished – and Dani is now pregnant with his baby!”
This is mind-blowing stuff |
Kelly feels that her head is about to explode, as he continues, “We could have gone to court, and I think I would have won. The thing is, Kelly,
"I didn't want to hurt her even more" |
Sara’s been through hell and I didn’t want to hurt her even more. Do you think I’ve been too soft?”
"No, I don't think you've been too soft . . ." |
“No, Jase, I don’t think you’ve been too soft – I think you’re a good father, and I think you’re a good person.
". . . I'm really proud of you!" |
“I’m really proud of you!” is Kelly’s appraisal of the situation.
Non grimaces at this symbol of her failure . . . |
At Penrhewl, Non is looking with disgust at the wedding cake;
. . . and starts packing a veg box |
then she sets about making up a vegetable order.
"If that's Megan's order, she doesn't have a swede" |
Sioned interrupts, “If that’s Megan’s order, she doesn’t have a swede. I’m surprised you’re still hanging around Cwmderi – what exactly is keeping you here?”
"I like it here" |
Non answers that she likes it here and thinks the world of Mark and Kath; “I’ve started with the Spanish classes as well,”
"No-one wants to learn Spanish" |
but Sioned is sceptical about anyone in the village wanting to learn Spanish.
"You're ready to go to the hairdresser's?" |
Then DJ comes in, remarking, “Eileen told me you’re ready to go to the hairdressers.”
Then he notices Non |
He stops abruptly when he sees Non, and Sioned explains that she is there in Kath’s place;
"Come on then, let's go, DJ!" |
she is eager to get DJ out of the place.
DJ collects the box |
He comes back in to get the box containing Sioned’s veil,
"You haven't told her yet?" |
and Non comments, “You haven’t told her yet? But you’ve had time to organise a wedding.”
"I can't stop things now" |
He argues that he cannot stop things now, but she insists, “I can’t stay here and watch you get married to someone else.
"It's up to you if you come with me!" |
“I’ll have to go back to Brecon – it’s up to you if you come with me!”
Once again saying that he is sorry, he leaves the farmhouse,
She stares malevolently at the cake |
and Non turns her attention once more to the wedding cake.
Sara collects her stuff from Hywel's house |
Jason has taken Sara to Hywel’s house to collect her belongings, and she has the last few bags. He advises her to check thoroughly,
"This is probably your last chance, Sara" |
because this is probably her last chance. “How about this toaster? Do you fancy it? If you’re scared of Dylan, there’s no need to be – you have a perfect right to be here. You’re safe now.”
She cannot wait to be out of the place |
She is eager to go and never come back, so they slip out by the back door.
Non arrives back at Maes-y-Deri |
Non arrives back at Maes-y-Deri,
She looks determined . . . |
and sits down on the sofa, looking determined.
. . . as she takes the flower removed from the cake . . . |
In her hand is one of the flowers from the wedding cake,
. . . and crushes it to pieces |
which she crushes as hard as she can and throws the broken pieces to the floor.
"There's no need to be nervous, Sioned" |
Sioned is becoming nervous now, but her mother points out that there is no need; “Everything’s ready,” Eileen assures her.
"I can't help thinking about last time" |
“I can’t help thinking about last time – with Ed,” Sioned groans,
"DJ would never betray you like that" |
but her mother is quite sure that DJ would not betray her the way Ed did; she has found a good man there.
"I'm a better person because of him" |
“I feel that I’m a better person because of him,” says Sioned, and Eileen describes them as perfect for each other.
Sara disturbs Dani's relaxation |
Dani is lying on the sofa when Sara comes in, and looks apprehensive; “I’m not here to cause trouble,” Sara assures her,
"Garry shouldn't have told you like that" |
and Dani admits that Garry should not have told her the way he did.
"I'm glad he did – lucky escape!" |
“I’m glad he did – I’m better off without Dylan in my life!” snarls Sara, “I can see that clearly now – lucky escape! Don’t believe a word that he tells you – he’ll promise you the world, but he’ll just tell you what you want to hear.”
"I don't want anything from Dylan" |
Dani maintains that she does not want anything from Dylan;
"He'll find a way into your life" |
Sara continues, “You say that now, but he’ll find a way into your life, into your head.”
"Look, I know you've been hurt" |
Dani appreciates that she has been hurt,
"I'm saying it to warn you!" |
but Sara goes on, “I’m not saying this because I’ve been hurt – I’m saying it to warn you!”
"I shall be fine" |
Dani is naïvely confident that she will be fine, but is reminded, “You’re carrying his baby – I just want you to realise what that means.
"Garry's trouble – but Dylan is worse!" |
“You know, Garry’s trouble – but Dylan is worse!” So saying, she leaves the flat, having made Dani think.
