Iolo is back

Iolo is back in the village;  he walks through the alley and hesitates; 

He decides against going straight home

looking across at number 7, then decides to go to the Deri instead.   

Tesni is avoiding her father

Outside the garage, Jaclyn asks Gerwyn if he saw Tesni this morning;  “No – she’s avoiding me.   Where is she?”   Jaclyn says that she has gone to see her friends, and he hopes that she is telling the truth.

"She is sorry, Ger"

“She is sorry, Ger,” his wife insists, and he comes to the conclusion that women are nothing but trouble.   “I won’t bother with the chocolate biscuits next time,” she warns him.

"Can we at least talk, Iolo?"

Llio comes downstairs, leaving another message for Iolo;  “It’s me again – can we at least talk?   I just want to know you’re all right.   

"Phone me, will you, please?"

“Phone me, will you, please?”

He listens to her plaintive message

He is listening to this message in the Deri, apparently having just used the toilet;  

"The toilets are for customers only, Iolo"

as he is on his way out, he is challenged by Cassie.  “The toilets are for customers only, Iolo,” she points out, 

"Sorry, Cassie, I have to go"

and he says that he is sorry, but he has to go.

Cassie is waiting for Garry to turn up . . .

On Cassie’s phone we see that she has sent a message to Garry, ‘Did you get the voicemail?’ 

. . . although Mark thinks the text is for Em

and Mark, who is at the bar, assumes that the message is for her daughter.   “Are you doing anything tonight?” she asks him, and learns that he intends to finish his pint, go home and put his feet up, as he is shattered.

Another night with Mark does not enthral her

Cassie is disappointed when he suggests, “We could carry on watching that series, if you want,” and she seems less than enthusiastic.   

Dylan comes downstairs . . .

Just then, Dylan comes hurrying down the stairs from the flat 

. . . and walks straight out of the door

and walks straight the pub, 

Mark is surprised by this

causing Mark to look rather puzzled.   Cassie knows exactly what has been going on.

Llio is still worried

Llio has made herself a drink, and sits in the kitchen;  the front door opens and she is pleased to see that Iolo is back.   

"Sorry about what happened"

He wants to know if she is all right, and after the pleasantries, he expresses his regrets about what happened on New Year’s Eve.

"It's confusing, isn't it?"

“I understand why you disappeared, you know,” she says, “It’s confusing, isn’t it?”   

"My head's been spinning"

He admits that his head has been spinning, and she has had far too much time and space to think.   and she is pleased to see that Iolo is back.   He wants to know if she is all right, and after the pleasantries, he expresses his regrets about what happened on New Year’s Eve.

"I hate falling out with you"

“I’ve missed you so much,” she groans,  “I hate falling out with you.”   

"The best thing is to forget it happened"

Iolo maintains that the best thing they can is to forget that anything happened and start again.   “But something did happen, Iol,” she replies.

"You're jacket's on the bed"

In the Deri flat, Dani hears footsteps coming into the room and says, “If you’re looking for your jacket, it’s on the bed.”

However, it is Garry who has just entered the room;  

"Whose jacket?"

“Whose jacket?” he demands, 

"What are you doing here?"

and she turns in astonishment, wanting to know what he is doing there.   

"This was my home, last time I checked"

“This is my home,” he continues, “It was the last time I checked, anyway.”      

"You walked out, if you remember"

“You walked out, if you remember,” Dani snarls at him, but he considers that she has moved on pretty quickly.

“So who’s the lucky man?   I have a right to know who’s sleeping under the same roof as my children,” he tells her.

"The children you turned your back on?"

She wonders what children they might be – could they be the ones he turned his back on?   She demands where he has been, but at that moment, footsteps can be heard on the stairs.

"Dani, did I leave my jacket?"

Then there is a voice;  “Dani, did I leave my jacket . . ?”   Dylan stops abruptly when he sees Garry, 

"Well, that little mystery is solved!"

who realises that mystery has now been solved.

"I knew someone who was gay"

Llio relates that she knew someone, a school friend, who was gay;  “She ‘came out’ in the sixth from, and had several relationships with women – then ten years later, she started seeing a man.   She’s married to him now.    She said she had fallen in love with the person – it didn’t matter whether it was a man or woman.”

"That might work for some people"

Iolo accepts how that can work for some people, and she stresses that it could work for them as well;  “I can’t stop thinking about you,” she says, but he points out that while he was away, he had time to make sense of things.

"There was a spark there"

She has been doing the same thing;  “There was a spark there – it wasn’t just a kiss between friends.   I’m sure you felt it too.”   He emphasises that he was with Tyler over Christmas, but he did not want to talk about it then.

"I was with Tyler and Aled at Christmas . . ."

However, now he thinks it would help;  he is not getting back together with Tyler, but was with him and Aled.   “A bit odd, I know, but I was invited.   

". . . to show I was totally cool with it"

“I thought it would be a good idea to show them that I was OK – totally cool – with it.”

"But you're not!"

“But you’re not!” interrupts Llio, and he admits that seeing the two of them together, looking so happy, was hard.   

"Tyler always knows what I like"

“Besides that, Tyler gave me a really nice present – because Tyler always knows what I like.   It confused me so much.”

"Then you came back and confused me"

“And then you came back here and confused me with that kiss!” she protests, “I thought you were a genuine guy – a good friend who would never hurt me – but you’re just as bad as him!”

"I didn't set out to hurt you"

Iolo stresses that he did not set out to hurt her or confuse her;  

"But that's what you've done!"

“But that’s what you’ve done,” she answers angrily.

Garry fetches the jacket

Garry has retrieved the jacket and drops it on the floor in front of Dylan;  

"How long have you been sleeping with my wife?"

“Here you go!” he growls, “How long have you been sleeping with my wife, then?” 

He sits on the sofa rather unconventionally

as he climbs over the back of the sofa.   

"I'd better go, then"

Dylan is eager to distance himself from this situation, 

"We've got plenty of time to catch up, Dyl"

but is told, “Don’t worry, we’ve got plenty of time to catch up.”

"None of your business, Garry!"

Then he turns to Dani and asks her, “How long?”   She points out that it is none of his business.   “I hope you were careful – he’s slept with half the village!”

"You've got a cheek – what do you want?"

She laughs, “You’ve got a cheek – what do you want, Garry?”   

"I want to come home"

He replies that he wants to come home.

"What was I, then – an experiment?"

“What was I, then – an experiment?” enquires Llio, “You used me!”   

"I felt low after seeing them"

He argues that he felt low after seeing Tyler and Aled so happy;  “And I was here to make you feel better?” she demands, 

"Were you thinking of him when kissing me?"

“Were you thinking of him when you were kissing me?”

He emphasises, “You always make me feel better – you always do,” and she describes herself as an idiot

"No!   You're perfect, Llio!"

“No!   You’re perfect!” he exclaims.

"Just not the perfect man!"

“Just not the perfect man!” she says, and he regrets that he cannot change who he is;  “It’s a shame you didn’t realise that before you kissed me,” she goes on.

"You kissed me – and you know I'm gay"

He protests, “You kissed me too – and you know I’m gay,” so she concludes he is blaming her for his confusion.   “I’m not confused – I’m gay!” he shouts, 

"Nothing you can say or do will change that!"

“Nothing you can say or do will change that!”   Llio escapes upstairs.

"I made a mistake, Dan"

“I made a mistake – I lost sight of what was important – you, the children . . .” Garry tells Dani, but she protests that he did not even phone the children.

"He needs a father he can rely on!"

“Gwern’s heartbroken!” she rages, but he says he will make it up to his son.   “What will it be this time – headphones?   A new phone?   He needs a father he can rely on, Garry!”

"I'm here now, and I've had a lot of time to think"

“I’m here now,” Garry declares, “I’ve had a lot of time to think.”   Dani deduces that his mind must work really slowly.   “My place is here, with my family.”

"Should have thought of that before sleeping with Jaclyn!"

“Well, you should have thought of that before sleeping with Jaclyn,” Dani advises him.   

"I'm missing you, Dan"

He knows that he has hurt her, and she cannot believe that she is hearing this.   He says that he is missing her, but she stresses that she has now moved on.

Is there some significance in this action?

He is well aware of that, but as he applies some salve to his lips, he remarks, “I can forgive you for Dylan – and I think, with time, you can forgive me too.”   

Dani does not look very 'forgiving'

She regards this suggestion with scepticism.

Cassie is rather uneasy about her lodger

When Cassie comes downstairs, she finds Mark busy in the kitchen;  when she asks what he is doing, 

"You'll see in a minute, Cas"

he replies, “You’ll see shortly.”   She insists that he should be out enjoying himself, and grumbles that she is not much company.

"Why don't you phone one of your mates?"

“Why don’t you phone one of your mates?” she asks, but he is adamant he is not going to leave her on her own, after everything she has done for him.   

He has a bottle of Prosecco

He produces a bottle of Prosecco and some glasses, commenting that it is something to cheer her up and to show his appreciation.

"It's nice to have the place to ourselves again"

“It’s nice to have the place to ourselves again, like Christmas,” he goes on, 

Cassie does not seem to agree

and she resists the temptation to tell him what she really thinks.

"You've never liked teddy, so don't start now!"

Garry enquires after Teddy;  “Oh, please, don’t!” Dani groans, “You’ve never liked him, so don’t start now!   Pathetic!”   

"We're good together, Dan"

He grins as he points out that they are good together.

"Is that what you told Jaclyn?"

“Is that what you told Jaclyn during your sordid dates in the garage?” she wonders, “I think you’d better leave – you don’t live here any more.”   

"I'll sleep in the spare room"

He does not expect things to go back to normal immediately, and proposes sleeping in the spare room.   “Tyler’s there now!” she snaps, “And Tyler’s not going anywhere – the only person who’s leaving is you!   So go.”   Garry looks her in the eyes and says that they will talk again;  she is sure that they will.

"I have a right to half of everything"

As a footnote, Dani adds, “By the way, my solicitor says I have a right to half of everything – but I’m sure, with time, you’ll forgive me too.”   

He is not too keen on that

His expression changes as he walks out of the room without a further word.

"I just get a few texts from Em"

Cassie explains, “I get a few texts from Em, but apart from that I don’t hear anything.”   Mark says that Ricky is the same;  he does not hear from his son from one fortnight to the next.

"No news is good news, as they say"

“But no news is good news, as they say – if they need anything, they know where we are.”  

"I think she was only after the house"

That is what Cassie is afraid of;  she thinks that her daughter took advantage only because she wanted the house, but Mark considers that she is probably too busy enjoying herself.   “Remember how you were at that age?”   

"I just about remember that"

Cassie can just about remember, 

She discovers the bottle is empty

then finds that the bottle is empty;  Mark reminds her that there are cans in the fridge, but she says that she has standards.   “So have I,” he protests, “I didn’t choose to live with just anyone – and I’d say I chose wisely.”   She grudgingly concedes that he is not bad either, and he assures her that Em will come round eventually.

"She thinks the world of you, like I do"

“She thinks the world of you – like I do,” he adds, but just at that, possibly romantic, moment, 

The moment is ruined by Garry's arrival

the back door opens and Garry rushes in.   Mark is shocked;  “Where on earth have you been?   

"I thought you'd left the Cwm for ever!"

“I thought you’d left the Cwm for ever,” he gasps.

Garry replies that it is a long story – but at the moment he needs a place to stay.   “You can’t just waltz in here!” roars Mark, “Anyway, this place is full to the rafters!”

"Mark, go and get another bottle"

Cassie wants Mark to leave them for five minutes, telling him to go and get another bottle of Prosecco, and she will pay him later.   He unwillingly leaves them.

She can see that he got her message, and Garry thanks her;  

"You should have told me . . ."

he maintains, “You should have told me that my wife was sleeping with the bloke who tried to kill me!”   She protests that she did not know what was going on.

“It was obvious earlier,” he muses, 

"I've had enough of this MI5 business"

and Cassie stresses she has had enough of this MI5 business;  she has to work in the Deri and has to see Dani.    He realises, “I know I put you in an awkward position, and I’m sorry – 

"I just need a roof over my head for now"

“I just need a roof over my head for now.”

She answers that he can have the sofa, for which he is grateful;  

"Now I have something to sort out"

immediately he puts his hood up, advises her that he has to sort something out, and leaves through the back door.

Mark has vodka and lemonade instead . . .

Then Mark returns, explaining, “Col didn’t have any Prosecco left, but I got some vodka and lemonade instead.   It will taste the same in those posh glasses, you’ll see!”   Cassie growls that she needs to lie down, and goes upstairs, 

. . . but she leaves him and goes upstairs

much to Mark’s surprise.

"I shouldn't have shouted at you"

Iolo apologises to Llio;  “I shouldn’t have shouted,” but then notices that she has brought a bag downstairs.   “What are you doing?   This is silly.   I’ve only just got back myself.”

"We can sort this out – we're friends"

He declares that they can sort this out, as they are friends, but she sadly shakes her head and says that she has no choice but to leave.   

"I can't be friends with you at the moment, Iol"

“I can’t be friends with you at the moment, Iol, I’m sorry,” she replies as she opens the door.   He looks devastated.

"I've got wine here – I'm going to cook"

Jaclyn comes out of number 10, on her way to get some wine, as Gerwyn is just arriving there;  he asks where she is going.   “I’ve got wine here – and I’m going to cook for you as a treat, Spag Bol,” he says, just as his mother is approaching.

Brenda scathingly remarks, “So she’s still using her sex appeal to get back in your good books, then?”   

"Showing your face at last, are you?"

Gerwyn is surprised that she is showing her face at last, and she alleges that she had to leave the house for a while.   “Too ashamed to see us before now, were you?” he enquires, “What came over you?”   She argues that it was not her fault, and he continues, “People go to jail for faking their death to scam the insurance.”   

"It was Iori's stupid idea!"

She puts the blame on Iori for the stupid idea to fill the hole in his bank account.

"You two are like children"

Gerwyn maintains that they should not have blown their pensions, and says they are like children, 

Jaclyn sniggers at this

which makes Jaclyn laugh.   Brenda turns and snarls, “Don’t you laugh!   You nearly destroyed your marriage!”

Uncharacteristically, Gerwyn stands up for his wife;  “Jaclyn is truly sorry for what she did – 

"Regret isn't part of your vocabulary!"

but then, regret isn’t part of your vocabulary!”   

"You're all over her like a blinkin' rash!"

Brenda maintains that she merely told white lies;  “Jaclyn’s were terrible – and you’re all over her like a blinkin’ rash!”   Gerwyn is not going to listen to any more of this, and is about to go into the house as he has cooking to do.  

"Is there enough for three?"

 “Is there enough for three?” his mother whines.

“You expect us to feed you as well?   Are things that bad?” asks Gerwyn, and she confesses that she and Iori have fallen out.   “Right, well go home and sort it out then!” she is told, so she storms off in a huff.

Jaclyn sympathises that she is only protecting her son, and insists she would do the same;  “You’ll never be like her, I hope!” he roars. 

"You can be all over me like a blinkin' rash!"

Jaclyn says that the sooner they sort things out, the better it will be for everyone;  then she suggests, “Right, shall we go inside, so you can be all over me like a blinkin’ rash?”

Garry is about to confront Dylan again

Dylan is just coming out of Tapas, when a hooded figure rounds the corner;  

"Stay away from Dani, do you hear?"

he warns, “Whatever your game is, stay away from Dani, do you hear?”

"It's a shame you let her go"

Dylan remarks, “You had a good woman there, it’s a shame you let her go.   It’s funny how things work out.”

“Your hysterics in the woods were funny as well,” says Garry, removing his hood, 

"There's something wrong with you, Dyl"

“There’s something wrong with you, Dyl – you need help.”   

"Dani has helped me find stamina"

Dylan maintains that Dani has helped him find strength and stamina.

“Is Sara working?   I might pop up and see her,” Garry suggests, and is invited to do so, as he might like the special – trout, from the bottom of the lake.   Dylan smiles, 

"After you've admitted everything to Jaclyn"

and Garry laughingly comments, “I look forward to seeing that face after you’ve admitted everything to Jaclyn.”

"I did them a favour, if you ask me"

“Gerwyn and Jaclyn have never been happier,” Dylan points out, “I did them a favour, if you ask me.”   Garry doubts that she will see things that way, but they will find out soon enough.   

"It's not long now, Dyl"

He advises, It’s not long now,” as he turns and walks away from Dylan, 

Does Dylan look rather fearful?

who is not looking particularly happy.
