Guto is searching for something

Guto is looking for something at number 10, and overhears his mother agreeing to go and see Cassie for a chat;  she wants to know exactly what it is about.   

"Work?   No problem – I'll come over"

“Work?   No problem, I’ll come over.”

"You're not going back to work in the Deri?"

Guto has found what he was looking for, and remarks, “You’re not going back to work in the Deri, are you?”   She tells him off for listening, and he again asks, “Are you?”   She points out that she may have to, and he exclaims, “After what you did?”

"Sitting her won't put food on the table!"

“Well, sitting here won’t put food on the table!” she snaps, but he wonders what Dani thinks about it, and whether his mother has considered her feelings.   She concedes, “Yes, it will be awkward, but I’ll be dealing with Cassie.”   

"I'm glad I don't live here any more!"

As Guto leaves the house, he says that his mother is so embarrassing, and he is ashamed of her;  he maintains that he is glad he does not live there any more.

His mother chases after him

She chases him down the street, arguing that they have to discuss these things properly, but he simply ignores her and continues towards the shop flat.   

"I'm fine, Colin"

Colin, who is outside the shop, asks her how she is and tries to interest her in a good deal today on parsnips and leeks;  

There is a promotion on Parsnips and Leeks

“I can give you an extra special discount.”   

"I'm worried about Britt"

He says that he is just trying to keep his customers happy, and then admits that he is worried about Britt;  “I think it’s all getting too much for her – the businesses and paperwork, on top of everything else.   

"Do you have any idea where Garry is?"

“Do you have any idea where Garry is?   He’s still not answering her calls.”

Jaclyn does not know – or care

Jaclyn abruptly replies, “No – I’m not interested in him, or where he is – it’s my family that’s important to me now!”

Dani is approaching

She walks away, and Dani approaches through the alley;  

She explains she is not boycotting the shop

she explains that she took Seren to the childminder, and it was easier to buy stuff there, rather than his shop.   

Colin's sales pitch is not working . . .

As Colin attempts his selling technique on her, she notices Jaclyn, who is going into the Deri.

. . .as Dani likes neither of them

“I don’t like parsnips or leeks, actually,” Dani tells him, so he wants to interest her in Carmarthenshire potatoes instead;  she is in rather a hurry to get back to the Deri.

"You want me to start today?"

Inside the pub, Jaclyn is surprised that Cassie wants her to start today;  “It’s a bit short notice.”   

"The kitchen needs sorting out"

She is informed that they need her, and there are things to sort out in the kitchen.   Cassie is very relieved when she agrees to work there.

“Look, about you and Garry – I want to be honest with you.   I wasn’t happy about the situation, 

"I think we're both professional enough"

“but I think we’re both professional enough to move on, and draw a line under it.”   Jaclyn agrees that she would also like to do that.

"What's going on?"

Then Dani comes in;  “What’s going on?” she asks, and is told that Jaclyn is back, starting today.   “You’ve got a cheek!” Dani growls, 

"I know it's not ideal"

and Cassie realises the situation is not ideal, but points out it is her job to make sure that the place succeeds.   “You think?” Dani goes on, 

"I'm not here to make trouble, Dani"

and Jaclyn assures her that she is not there to make trouble, but to work.

"So let me get this straight . . ."

Dani laughs, “Oh, everything’s fine then!   So let me get this straight – the woman who had an affair with my husband has more rights in this place than I do, yeah?   Great!”

"I don't think this is a good idea"

Jaclyn does not think this is a good idea, but Cassie insists that they need her;  “Well, I need the job – so I’ll keep out of her way,” 

"Yes, that's a very good plan

and Cassie considers that a very good plan.   

Jaclyn will go home to get changed, and when she has gone, 

Cassie makes a phone call

Cassie picks up her phone and makes a call.   “Hiya – it’s me.   

"Yes, she's started – everything's fine"

“Yes, she’s started – everything’s fine.   There we are – see you then.”

"Are you all right, Dan?"

Upstairs, Dani is unpacking her shopping, banging each item down on the table, which leads Tyler to enquire if she is all right;  she snarls, “Do you know who’s back working here?   Go on, guess – 

"A frumpy mother, a slapper!"

“I’ll give you a clue – a frumpy mother, a slapper!”

Tyler recognises this description, and wonders who took her on;  “Cassie – it will make things even harder, having her around!” Dani shouts, “She’s not the only chef in the area, Tyler!”   

"Does Britt know about this?"

She does not know whether Britt it is aware of this development, 

"I shall find out"

so will ask her.

Dylan is thinking about calling Daf

Meanwhile, Dylan is debating whether to dial Daf’s number, 

"Have you seen Ifan's teddy?"

but is interrupted by Sara, who is looking for Ifan’s teddy, which he wants to take to playgroup.   Dylan can be of no help, 

"Are you going to help me look?"

and does not seem willing to help her look for it.   

"What are you doing there?"

Then she locates the teddy in the kitchen, and was sure she had put it in the bed with Ifan last night.

Dylan is living on his nerves . . .

Still in a very nervous state, Dylan is suspicious about how the toy came to be in the kitchen, 

. . . and bolting the back door makes him feel better

and bolts the back door, just to be safe.

"I haven't asked you here for an argument"

Dani thanks Britt for coming over to the Deri;  “I haven’t asked you here for an argument – did you know Jaclyn was back here?”   

"I didn't know that!"

Britt says that she did not;  “Well, someone’s given her the job back,” Dani continues.

"Someone has to make the decisions round here"

Cassie is sitting nearby and points out that the reason why Jaclyn is back there is because she is needed;  “She’s good at her job – and someone has to make the decisions around here.”   

"Garry wouldn't want her here"

Britt cannot imagine that Garry would want her back in the pub, but then admits that she has not having a go at Cassie;  

"He's left us all in a hole!"

“I’ve just had enough – the more time that goes by, the angrier I’m getting with him.   He’s left us all in a hole!”

"You can say that again!"

“You can say that again!” interjects Dani.   Britt summarises that Cassie has had to get Jaclyn back, Dani has been cheated on, and she has been left in charge of all the businesses.

"What he's done to the children is worse!"

“What he’s done is wrong –what he did to you was wrong!   But what he’s done to his children is worse!   I’m going to phone him again – for the hundredth time!”    Dani hopes that she will remind him that he has children, and that Gwern is breaking his heart.   Cassie looks concerned at this.

“There we go – voicemail again!” Britt rages, having dialled the number, 

"Garry, answer your phone!"

then issues the instruction, “Garry, where are you?   Answer your phone!   I know I said I’d support you, but that doesn’t mean you can ignore my calls and break off all communication.   You need to come back here and sort out the mess you’ve created.   Dani’s stressed – Jaclyn’s back in the Deri, and I can’t cope!   Oh yeah – and your children want to see you as well – they miss you terribly!   

"Do you remember your children, Gar?"

“Do you remember them, Gar?   Be a good man and come back!”

Dylan listens to the anguished message

At Hywel’s house, Dylan is listening to this message 

"We could look at some of these"

when Sara suggests that they could look at some wedding magazines and discuss a few ideas.  She hopes that he is not getting cold feet, 

"I can't wait to be your husband" — LIAR!

but he emphasises, “I can’t wait to be your husband, but I’ve got a better idea.   

"Why don't we go to the Deri?"

“Why don’t we go to the Deri, and discuss it over a few drinks – I can give you and the wedding all of my attention.”   

"That's a good idea"

Sara likes the sound of this.

"I can't avoid Dani and Britt for ever"

Jaclyn reports that everything is fine in the kitchen, but acknowledges she cannot avoid Dani and Britt for ever.   

"Today will be the most difficult"

Cassie predicts that today will be the most difficult day, then Dylan comes in, 

"A little bird told me you were back"

commenting, “A little bird told me you were back.”   

Jaclyn is not sure that she is doing the right thing, and Guto was not keen;  

"I'm not sure what Gerwyn really thinks"

“Gerwyn says he’s fine with it, but I’m not sure what he really thinks.   Cassie asked me to come back – I haven’t spoken to Garry.”

Sara arrives with her magazines

When Sara arrives, Jaclyn asks how the wedding arrangements are coming along, and is told that they are discussing the matter today.   

"That wedding will cost you a fortune!"

Cassie imagines that with Sara’s tastes, this wedding will cost Dylan a fortune, but he maintains that if Sara wants it, she will get it, 

"Two menus coming up!"

and asks for two menus.

Dani is sitting quietly

Dani is sitting quietly in the flat when Tyler returns, and is asked if he has had a good day;  

"As exciting as window cleaning can be"

“Well, as good and exciting as a day cleaning windows can be,” is the reply.   He wonders how it went with Britt.

"Britt gave Garry an earful!"

“I had a shock, actually,” Dani confesses, “She phoned Garry and gave him an earful.”   Tyler remarks that it is nothing more than he deserves, but he is surprised that she did it.   She doubts that he will listen;  

"Britt didn't know anything about Jaclyn"

“Britt  didn’t know anything about Jaclyn either –  well, Cassie is the boss.” 

"They ask about Garry all the time"

When he enquires if the children are OK, she says, “Yeah . . . well, no – they ask about Garry all the time.   Gwern is having a sleepover tonight with Iestyn – 

"What – on a school night?"

“on a school night – he says he doesn’t want to be here.   

"I feel as if I'm losing control, Ty"

“I’m trying to keep everybody happy, Ty, but I’m not OK!   I feel as if I’m losing control – I act as if I’m coping and I’m fine, 

"Apart from the children, I've lost everything"

“but the truth is, apart from the children, I’ve lost everything!   It’s going to be hard, isn’t it – being on my own?”

"You're not on your own, Dan"

He assures her that she is not on her own, emphasising that he will always be there for her and the children;  “And now that Britt has come round, things might be easier for you.   You’ve got nothing to be ashamed of – you’re not in the wrong here!”

"Oh – it's the solicitor"

Dani hears her phone ringing and finds that it is the solicitor calling;  

"Hello"

she is initially reluctant to answer it.

"I might stay for dinner as well"

Sara has obviously gone back home, leaving Dylan in the Deri;  Jaclyn has made a moussaka as a special tonight, and Dylan remarks that his lunch was so nice, he might stay for dinner as well.

"Bottle of champagne and two glasses!"

Just then, Dani comes hurrying downstairs and asks Cassie for a bottle of champagne and two glasses.   It appears that she is celebrating something;  

"I have a right to half of what Garry owns!"

“The divorce is going ahead and the solicitor says I have a right to half of everything Garry owns.”   Dylan congratulates her, as does Jaclyn, and Cassie assumes that Tyler will be joining her, but apparently he is babysitting.

"Will you join me, Dylan?"

Dani invites Dylan to join her;  “If you hadn’t told me the truth, who knows where I would be now?   You do like champagne, don’t you?”   

"Er, yes, I love it, Dani

Dylan, who is very surprised, confirm"s that he loves it, and Cassie looks very concerned.

"You cook the best chips this side of Chippenham!"

In the chip shop flat, Colin announces, “Yep, there’s no doubt about it – you cook the best chips this side of Chippenham!”   Britt did not want them to go to waste, but looks upset.

"Things have been very difficult for you"

“Things have been very difficult for you recently,” he sympathises, and she blames Garry for all of it.   

"Garry created this mess – and no-one else!"

She has defended him so many times over the years, but points out that it is he who has created this mess, and no one else.   

"I don't want you getting ill again"

Colin is concerned, and does not want her getting ill again;  

"I feel sorry for Dani"

“To be honest with you, Col, I feel sorry for Dani,” she goes on, “I’ve been so busy defending him, I haven’t really thought about what he’s done to her and the children.”

"They're the innocents in all of this"

He agrees that they are the innocents in all of this;  “I’m tired of all this hassle,” she adds, “If he can’t even be bothered to come back and face what he’s done, 

"I don't want to think of him as my brother any more!"

“I don’t want to think of him as my brother any more!”

Colin comments that is a very big thing to say, 

"Being a Monk has caused us all so much pain"

but she stresses, “Being a Monk has caused us all so much pain.”

"It's all ready for the morning"

Jaclyn has cleared everything up and prepared for the morning;  she is pleased that the moussaka went down well.   As she is about to go home, she notices Dylan with Dani, and is surprised to see that Sara is not there.  

"I've got the night off"

He says that he has got the night off, and will be going home soon.

"I'd invite you to join us – but, well . . ."

Dani would invite Jaclyn to join them, “But, well . . .” so Jaclyn takes her leave of them, 

A lecherous look in Dylan's eye

and they look at each other.

"You're not going to be a Monk much longer . . ."

“You know what you said earlier about not wanting to be a Monk,” Colin begins, “Well, you’re not going to be a Monk for much longer – 

". . . I've booked the registry office"

“I’ve booked the registry office, to make the marriage official.   Not now, but later on in the year – in the spring.”

"You're a sly one, Colin Evans!"

This brings a smile to Britt’s face;  “You’re a sly one, Colin Evans, going behind my back like that!” and he insists that they have to do things right.   

"I can't wait to be be an Evans!"

“I can’t wait to be an Evans!” she tells him, and neither can he wait.   

"My future is with you now, Colin"

“My future is with you now, Colin – not as part of Garry’s world – not as a Monk.”

"Don't forget to lock up, Dani"

Cassie is now ready to leave the Deri, and tells them she will not lock up, as Dylan is still there, but warns Dani not to forget, as they do not want burglars.

"You've been under a lot of strain lately"

Looking expectantly at Dani, he says, “You’ve been under a lot of strain lately,” and is told that having his sister back does not help.   “She and Garry have caused a lot of trouble for people – I’m sorry about that.”

"You can't control what your sister does"

Dani appreciates that he cannot control what his sister does, and he says that he is disappointed in her.   

"You have to concentrate on yourself now"

“Have you heard from Garry at all?” he enquires, and urges her to concentrate on herself now.

"And the children"

“Yes, me and the children,” she replies, but he reminds her about the businesses, as she needs to look to the future;  they drink a toast, “To the future!”

Cassie wants to get in touch with Garry

Cassie arrives home at number 9 and immediately makes an urgent phone call;  “Look, I don’t know when you’ll get this message, 

"I think you should come home right now!"

“but I think you should come home right now!”

"You deserve better than Garry Monk!"

In the deserted Deri, Dylan alleges, “I’ve always thought there was something special about you – you deserve better than Garry Monk.”   Dani smiles and thought that families were supposed to stick together.   He maintains that blood is not always thicker than water, and continues, “You’ve got a lot to offer.”

"How are things with Sara?"

She asks how things are with Sara, 

"Boring!"

and his immediate answer is, “Boring!   All she talks about is the wedding.”   Dani can understand that she is excited, 

"The more I realise we're wrong for each other"

but he grumbles, “The more time I spend with her, the more I realise we’re wrong for each other.”

"Like me and Garry"

“Like me and Garry,” she says, then gets up to locks the front door of the pub;  “We don’t want anyone to break in, do we?”   

"How am I supposed to get home?"

He wonders how he is supposed to get home, and she asks if he really wants to.   

"You can stay here with me, if you want"

“You can stay with me if you want to,” she invites him, “No-one else matters.”
