5 March 2020 (2nd)

"Will you donate a prize for the auction?"
In the café, Izzy asks Anita if the café will donate a prize for the Antur auction tonight, pointing out that it is for a good cause;  “I could make a Victoria sponge for you,” she suggests, this is welcomed by Izzy.
"A St David's Day auction so late in the month?"
Siôn is sitting nearby, and comments that it does not bode well if Izzy is still looking for items;  “And who’s heard of a St David’s Day auction so late in the month?”   She points out to him that they have loads of items for tonight, but is rather hesitant to reveal exactly what they are,
"There are things signed by celebs"
merely stating that there are things signed by celebs.
"Do you want Anita to sign the Victoria sponge?"
He wonders whether she wants Anita to sign the Victoria sponge.
Izzy crosses the road . . .
Izzy crosses the road and is greeted by Colin and Britt, who are looking forward to the auction in the Deri tonight.
. . . and asks Britt and Colin to be her glamorous assistants
She asks them if they would like to be her glamorous assistants,
"Glamour is my middle name!"
and Colin confidently asserts, “Glamour is my middle name!”
Gaynor has an unpleasant surprise
Outside the shop, Gaynor is looking wistfully at Izzy when she is surprised by Angharad;
"Do you fancy a drink tonight?"
“I haven’t seen you for ages – do you fancy a drink tonight?” she asks, but Gaynor is glad to have the excuse that she is going to the Deri to support Izzy, at the St David’s Day auction.
Gaynor does not look pleased about being accompanied by Angharad
Angharad will go with her, much to Gaynor’s disappointment.
"You can come and work at Tapas"
In the Deri, Jaclyn is doing a crossword when Dylan comes over;  “So this is where you’re hiding,” he remarks, “It must be boring, sitting in the house on your own all day.   Once you’re strong enough, you can come to work at Tapas.”
"I resigned, remember?"
She reminds him that she resigned, but he insists, “There’s no need to find something else when you have the perfect job.”
"We need a new chef to run the kitchen here"
Garry has overheard this, and suggests that they need a new chef to run the kitchen in the Deri, once she is better.
"She'll be working at Tapas, Garry"
Ignoring Dylan’s protestations that she will be working at Tapas,
"Thanks, Garry, I'd love to work here!"
Jaclyn says that she would love to work for Garry.   He invites her to come in for a chat next week.
"I don't want to work for you!"
As a text arrives for Dylan, she again informs him, “I don’t want to work for you, Dyl!”   He looks at his phone with concern, and she assumes that there are more drugs to be picked up.
"It's someone I trust – you'd like him"
He says he is not doing it himself, it is someone else who he trusts, and Jaclyn would like him.
"I don't like anything about this business!"
She replies that she does not like anything about this business.
"We need space to store copies of the novel"
Dai is in Megan’s shop, bringing in some of Diane’s clothes;  he explains, “We need space to store copies of the novel,”
"How is it selling?"
and Megan wonders if it is selling.   “Like hot cakes, as they say,” Dai continues, “And I’m looking forward to the big stores hearing about it – I know we live in the Internet age, but word of mouth is important.
"Diane wants everyone to know it's not an autobiographical novel"
“Diane wants everyone to know that it’s not an autobiographical novel, like it says on the book – that’s a mistake – it’s ‘self-publishing’, as Siôn White would say.”
"Would she like to donate a signed copy for the austion?"
Izzy enquires if Diane would like to donate a signed copy for the auction tonight, and Dai agrees to this, on condition that they can have a table where they can sell more copies.   Izzy even says that she will make it the Book Club’s ‘Book of the Month’.   He its confident that now he will be able to open another box of books.
Izzy purchases a book
Izzy purchases a book, by Kate Roberts, from the shop.
Dylan comes to the garage . . .
Gerwyn is working on a car in the garage when Dylan comes in;
. . . with instructions for Gerwyn
“Tonight,” he says and wants to hand him a slip of paper containing the details.
"How do I know this is not a trick?"
Gerwyn does not look at all happy about this, and demands how he knows that it is not a trick.
"If you can't do it, there's another option"
“If you can’t do it, there’s another option,” explains Dylan, and Gerwyn finds himself with no choice but to agree to carry out the pick-up.
"The money has already been transferred"
“What about the money?   When do I get that?” he demands, and is told it has already been transferred into his account, as it is safer that way.
"Phone me as soon as you've done the job"
He is instructed to phone Dylan as soon as he has done the job, and not to mention a word to Jaclyn.
Gerwyn is not happy about this
Gerwyn still looks extremely suspicious.
Sassie is presented with a signed copy
Diane is now much more happy about the novel, and presents a signed copy to Cassie in the café;  “Thanks for reading through it and giving a fantastic quote.”
"It's an excellent novel"
Cassie replies that it is a pleasure, and it is an excellent novel.
Dai arrives with good news
Dai comes in with the good news that they can have a table to sell copies at the auction tonight;  “And it’s the Book Club’s ‘Book of the Month’ as well!”
"I hope you told everyone it's not autobiographical!"
“I hope you told everyone that it’s not autobiographical!” she exclaims, and he answers that the whole world knows it is not about her personal life.   He adds that Izzy wants a signed copy for the auction.   Diane suggests they had better go home and get all the copies they are going to sell.
"Is the book any good, then, Cassie?"
As soon as they have gone, Anita comes over to enquire if the book is any good,
"I don't know – I didn't read it!"
and Cassie confesses, “I didn’t read it!   The quote on the back is something totally normal – you just say something generic,”
Then she sees that her cover has been blown
but then she notices on the back cover, below her quote, that it explains Cassandra Auburn’s real name is Cassie Morris.
"My anonymity's gone!   Dai is an idiot!"
She gasps in horror, “My anonymity’s gone!   Dai is an idiot!”
Siôn is obviously short of translation work at the moment
Then Izzy comes in to collect her cake from Anita;  Siôn cannot have much to do, as he is still sitting in the café, reading the Western Post, and predicts that the cake will make a lot of money.   Izzy asks who is Siôn’s favourite poet,
"Waldo Williams, I should think"
and he chooses Waldo Williams;
"I have a signed first edition of Dail Pren"
“Interesting,” she remarks, “I have a signed first edition copy of Dail Pren [Wooden Leaves] – and a signed copy of Te Yn Y Grug [Tea in the Heather] as well.
"Don't forget your chequebook tonight, Siôn!"
Siôn finds that very interesting, and is reminded not to forget his cheque book tonight
"How did the funeral go yesterday, Eifion?"
In the Deri, Britt asks Eifion how the funeral went yesterday, and he replies, “It was fine – until Eileen got back with the will.”   Then Izzy arrives with the cake.
"Stupid – March 1st has been and gone!"
Garry mutters, “Stupid – March 1st has been and gone,” but Britt forecasts is that everyone will enjoy themselves.
"Is everything all right?"
She goes over to him and says, “Dani decided to stay up in Newcastle, then?   Is everything all right?” and he wonders why it would not be.
"I wasn't sure that you would come"
Izzy was not sure that Eifion would come, but he was eager to be there for her;
"I didn't want to miss the chance to win Angharad Mair's daps!"
“Anyway, I didn’t want to miss the chance to win Angharad Mair’s daps, either!   Did you get enough items?”
"Shirley Bassey's feather boa"
Izzy lists Shirley Bassey’s feather boa, some rare books,
"Used by John Lennon when he came to Bangor"
and produces a mug, which she alleges was used by John Lennon when the Beatles came to Bangor in 1967.   He is sure that no one will believe that,
It comes with a home-made Certificate of Authenticity
so she produces a Certificate of Authenticity, which she just printed at Llwyncelyn.
"Sign Kate Roberts' name on this book, will you?"
Then she asks Eifion, “Sign Kate Robert’s name on this book for me, will you?”
"You are naughty, you know!"
and he describes her as naughty.
"Were you thinking of going to the auction?"
Jaclyn and Gerwyn sit at home;  he looks at his watch and enquires, “Were you thinking of going to the auction tonight?”   Jaclyn does not think so, as she will be spending plenty of time in the Deri before long, and thinks that it is nice to have a quiet night, just the two of them.
"I'll go over to show some support"
He decides he will go over there to show some support, and tells her to stay there and relax;  “Don’t wait up – I might be late.”
"I can't understand why he left us that dresser"
In the Deri, Dai still cannot understand why Jim left them that dresser;  “I happened to say that it looked smart,” Diane explains, “I can’t believe he remembered – I was just being polite.”
Dai wonders what they are going to do with it, as they cannot throw it out,
"We'll find somewhere to put it"
but Diane is confident they will find somewhere, and is glad that Dai only got a watch.
"Fair play to Jimbo for thinking of us"
He muses, “Fair play to Jimbo, for thinking of us, poor guy.”
"Welcome to the auction for Yr Antur"
Izzy welcomes everyone to the auction to raise money for Yr Antur;
"The first lot, Diane Ashurst's first novel"
“We have lots of excellent items to get through tonight – the first is a signed copy of Diane Ashurst’s first novel. ‘Y Gusan ar y Traeth’,
Diane likes being the centre of attention
and Diane is all smiles.
Izzy asks for a first bid of £10, but as no-one responds, drops this to £5,
Megan bids £5
and Megan begins the bidding;
"I'm just building up some momentum, Diane"
in order to build up some momentum, Dai offers £10,
Beti, at the back, bids £15
and Beti bids £15,
Dai bids, with a crafty wink
followed by Dai again, with £20.    He is not happy when he wins the book, and has to pay out the money.
"I'm coming to the Deri – get me a G&T"
At number 10, Jaclyn cannot find anything on the television that she wants to watch, and phones Gerwyn, leaving a message that she is also coming to the Deri;  “If you get this message before I get there, a gin and tonic, please.”
"A first edition of Dail Pren by Waldo Williams"
The next lot is the ‘first edition’ copy of Dail Pren by Waldo Williams,
Siôn immediately offers £50 . . .
which Siôn is eager to secure, and bids £50,
. . . but is outbid by Eifion
followed by Eifion with a £100 bid.    The two of them alternate, offering first £150, then £200.
"What are you doing?   You're not even a fan of Waldo!"
Siôn demands, “What are you doing?   You’re not even a fan of Waldo!”
Eifion replies, “No – but you are!”   His plan backfires when Siôn almost pulls out of the bidding,
Siôn wins the book with a £300 bid
but then shouts he will pay £300, and pleads with Eifion not to take it further.
“Sold to Siôn White for £300!” announces Izzy, and now they will take a five minute break;  “To go to the bar – and to allow Siôn to find his wallet!”
Jaclyn cannot find Gerwyn . . .
Jaclyn comes in, and is dismayed to find that she cannot locate Gerwyn;
. . . but is offered three copies for the price of two
Dai does not think he has been in all night, and tries to sell a copy of the novel to her.   There is now, apparently, a ‘Three for Two’ offer on them, but Jaclyn is not tempted.
"Where did you get that 'John Lennon' cup?"'
Izzy reports to her mother that people have been very generous;  “Can I ask where you got that ‘John Lennon’ cup?” asks Gaynor,
"A member of Yr Antur staff donated it"
and is told that a member of staff at Yr Antur donated it.
"It's a lot like one I got from your grandmother"
“It’s a lot like a cup I’ve got at home from your grandmother,” her mother continues, and Izzy maintains that she has too many cups.
"You have to win the 'John Lennon' cup – it must go back in Mam's cupboard!"
Izzy urgently informs Eifion that he has to win the ‘John Lennon’ cup, informing him, “It has to go back into Mam’s cupboard!”
Jaclyn still cannot contact Gerwyn
Jaclyn has returned home, and is attempting to contact Gerwyn by phone;  then there is a knock at the door,
Dylan has brought a curry
and Dylan comes in, with a takeaway curry.   “I thought it would be nice to sit down together and eat, like the old days – things have become so awkward lately.”
"You know you told me I'd like the person doing the job . . ."
Jaclyn remarks, “You know you told me I’d like the person doing the job tonight –
". . . please tell me it's not Ger!"
“please tell me it’s not Ger!”
"I had to draw him in somehow!"
He replies that he had no choice, as Gerwyn knew too much;  “I had to draw him in somehow.”
"When is this going to end?"
She screams, “When is this going to end?”   He explains that if she and Gerwyn split up,
"I must have some leverage on him"
Dylan needs to have leverage on him, and that it is simply insurance;  he had to do it to protect her, to protect both of them.
“Now after tonight, you and Gerwyn don’t have to be part of this – everything will be fine,” Dylan maintains.
Geraint is rushed off his feet tonight
The ‘John Lennon’ mug is now going under the hammer, and Eifion, following his instructions, is the proud winner.
"I'm learning all sorts of things from this book"
Gaynor is watching the proceedings very sternly, while Angharad says that she is learning all kind of things from Diane’s book.   Gaynor does not think it is appropriate for the Book Club, but Angharad considers it as just a bit of fun.
"There are pupils there – I don't want them reading smut!"
“Well, there are pupils there, and I don’t want them reading smut!” Gaynor stresses,
"It's refined erotica, not smut!"
but Diane is passing, and takes exception to that comment, emphasising that it is refined erotica, and not smut.
"Talking of refined erotica, how are things between you and Hywel?"
“Talking of refined erotica, how are things between you and Hywel?” asks Angharad,
"We're talking of moving in together"
and is told that they are great, and have never been better;  in fact, they are talking about moving in together.
"Not a good idea – it's far too soon"
Angharad warns that it is not a good idea, as it is far too soon;  Gaynor must make sure he knows it is important she has enough space.
"If I wanted your advice, I would ask for it!"
“If I wanted your advice, I would ask for it!” is Gaynor’s rather terse reply.
"Holding a piece of Waldo and Kate in my hands!"
Siôn cannot believe that he is holding a piece of Waldo and Kate in his hands, and Garry comments that he suspects Anita will be sleeping in the spare room tonight.
"There won't be room for you, Siôn, Waldo and Kate in the bed!"
“There won’t be room for you, Siôn, Waldo and Kate in the bed!” he predicts.
Jaclyn has lost her appetite – unlike Dylan
Jaclyn does not seem to be interested in her curry, so Dylan takes her naan;  “What if things go wrong?” she worries, “What if he gets hurt?”   He tries to convince her that things do not go wrong, and this is not like the films.   It is so simple that even Gerwyn can do it.
"I told you to phone me as soon as you were done!"
The door opens, and Gerwyn has returned;  “I told you to phone me as soon as you were done!” shouts Dylan, “Why are you bringing it into the house?”
"Here – catch!"
Gerwyn throws the bag to him;
Dylan is rather aggrieved to find the bag empty
he looks inside and finds it empty.
"Where is it?"
“Where is it?” he demands,
"It's somewhere safe"
and Gerwyn replies that he has hidden it;  Dylan is very eager to find out where, and is told that it is somewhere safe.
"Where is it, Gerwyn?"
Dylan screams at the top of his voice, “Where is it, Gerwyn?”
"At the bottom of Swansea Harbour, where it can't hurt anyone"
“At the bottom of Swansea Harbour,” is Gerwyn’s calm reply, “Where it can’t hurt anyone.”
"Was it the copy you bought at Apêl Maenan?"
Megan approaches Izzy, and asks, “Te yn y Grug – was it the copy you bought at Apêl Maenan?”   Eifion advises that Megan should look at her books more closely.   She congratulates Izzy on a successful night, and it is revealed to Eifion that she has raised over £1,000.
"I think Dr Kate and Waldo deserve some commission!"
“I think Dr Kate and Waldo deserve some commission!” she suggests,
This scam will be rumbled before long
and they look very pleased with their scam.
"The suppliers are not interested what happens to the stuff"
Gerwyn informs them, “He said he’d already been paid for the drugs – the suppliers don’t care what happens to the stuff.”
"Do you realise what you've done to me?"
“Do you realise what you’ve done to me?” roars Dylan, but Gerwyn is not concerned what happens to him.   “It wasn’t my money that paid for it!   How am I supposed to pay thousands back when I have nothing to sell?” snarls Dylan.
Gerwyn gives him the same answer again;  “That’s your problem!”
Jaclyn prevents a fight from developing
Dylan is about to attack him, when Jaclyn stands between them;  “It’s a problem for us all,” she tells Gerwyn,
"This was a chance to get the stuff off the streets!"
but he protests this was a chance to get the stuff off the streets.
“Look, I know you’re angry,” she begins,
"Why are you sticking up for scum like Dylan?"
and Gerwyn objects to her sticking up for scum like Dylan.
"You don't understand!"
“I’m part of it!” she is forced to admit, “You just don’t understand –
"I helped Dyl to move Bethan's body"
“I helped Dyl to move Bethan’s body.”
"I'm part of it, Gerwyn!"
Gerwyn is speechless, but Dylan points out it was an accident, and Jaclyn acknowledges that she is part of it;  “If the police come sniffing around here tonight after what you’ve done . . .”
Gerwyn has had enough, and leaves the house
Gerwyn maintains that she is as bad as her brother, and he storms out of the house, leaving Jaclyn in floods of tears, and Dylan trying to work out exactly how he will extricate himself from this situation.
