Next morning, a police car arrives outside number 9,

| . . . and Dylan is watching events |
and Dylan seems to be taking an interest; he loiters by the shop, and Hywel asks him what is going on.

| "Gwyneth's been arrested for dealing drugs" |
“Gwyneth’s been arrested for dealing drugs – that’s what I’ve heard, anyway,” Dylan informs him, “To be honest, I had heard something – a customer at Tapas mentioned it.”
 |
| Hywel is going to speak to his contact |
Hywel maintains that he has a contact at the police station, so will see what he can find out. As DI Davies hammers on the door of number 9,

| Everything seems to be going according to plan |
Dylan looks pleased with himself.
 |
| Cassie is unable to contact Gwyneth |
Inside the house, Cassie is trying, unsuccessfully, to contact Gwyneth by phone, then has to answer the door.
 |
| "DI Davies – can I come in?" |
DI Davies shows her identification and asks to come in; Cassie enquires if Gwyneth is all right.
 |
| "I knew there was something when when she didn't come home last night" |
“I knew something was wrong when she didn’t come home last night.”
The DI assures her that Gwyneth is fine, and is at the police station;
 |
| "We've come to search the house" |
“We’ve come to search the house – we have a warrant.”
 |
| "What has she done?" |
As Cassie looks at it, she wonders what Gwyneth has done. “Were you aware of Gwyneth Jones’ activities? Drugs are a serious matter – they destroy lives,” the DI goes on, and there is another knock at the door. Insisting that she knows nothing about any drugs, Cassie opens the door, finding Garry is there.

| "Oh, it's you!" |
“Oh, it’s you,” he says, in a rather familiar manner, when he sees DI Davies there, “I just wanted to remind Gwyneth that she’s picking up Gwern today – she’s not answering her phone.”

| "She's at the police station – something about drugs" |
Cassie tells him that she is at the police station; “Something about drugs,” and it is confirmed that she will not be able to pick up her son.
 |
| "We are now going to conduct a search of the house . . ." |
The police are now going to conduct a search of the house,
 |
| ". . . and I have a few questions for you" |
but also have a few questions for Cassie.
 |
| A fragile marital harmony has been restored |
At number 10, Gerwyn and Jaclyn appear to be reconciled, and are dancing to the sound of music on the radio; she says that he is going to be late for work, but he does not care. “No nor do I, but I don’t want you to get the sack,” she adds,

| "Thank goodness the children think we fell out over the credit card bill" |
so he thinks that he had better go. She asks what he would like for dinner tonight, and whether she should make something special for the four of them.

| "We all want things to be back to normal" |
but Jaclyn stresses that they all just want things to be back to normal. Gerwyn warns that it will not happen overnight, but they need to discuss a few things, and suggests lasagne for dinner.

| "A 43-year-old woman from Cwmderi has been arrested on drugs charges. . ." |
The latest news can be heard on the radio, read by Hywel Llywelyn; “A 43-year-old woman from Cwmderi has been arrested on suspicion of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply.” Jaclyn looks concerned.

| " . . . the police investigation continues" |
In the café Mark and Debbie are listening to the same news bulletin; “The police say they don’t want to make any further comment, but that their investigation continues.”

| Debbie abruptly closes the café |
Debbie immediately locks the café door and turns the sign to read ‘closed’.

| "Where were you on 9 December 2019?" |
“Where were you on 9 December 2019?” the DI asks Cassie,
 |
| Cassie cannot remember |
and she cannot remember, neither can she say where Gwyneth was; the next question is, “Does the name Bethan Price mean anything to you?” Cassie replies that apart from the posters around the village, she knows nothing about her.

| "Did Gwyneth Jones know her?" |
“She went by the name of Jessie – does that mean anything to you? Did Gwyneth Jones know her?” the DI continues,
 |
| Cassie can be of no assistance |
but Cassie has no idea. “You’re not sure of a lot of things, Ms Morris,” DI Davies remarks, “Did you ever see them together? She had bright red, curly hair.”
 |
| "I hope you're telling the truth!" |
When Cassie can be of no help to her, she threateningly adds, “I hope you’re telling the truth, or you will be in serious trouble.”
 |
| One of the other officers comes downstairs |
Her colleague comes downstairs after searching there.
 |
| "It won't be long before I'm in jail with her!" |
As they stand outside the café, Debbie is sure that the police are after Gwyneth; “It won’t be long until I’m in jail with her, you’ll see!” she wails.

| Is Gwen chatting up the policeman? |
Gwen is coming along the road, and has a lengthy chat with the constable outside the door of number 9.
 |
| "Please tell me you're not still dealing drugs!" |
“Please tell me you’re not still dealing drugs!” demands Mark, and Debbie emphatically denies that she; “So what did Gwyneth want with you last night, then?” he asks.
 |
| "I told her where to go!" |
“She wanted contacts to get more stuff – but I told her where to go!” Debbie replies, “It’s only a matter of time before they knock on my door,” but he advises her not to panic.
 |
| "The best thing you can do is to say nothing and do nothing" |
The best thing she can do is to say nothing and do nothing.

| "We haven't found anything so far" |
DI Davies reports by phone that that they have not discovered anything so far;

| "Can I get dressed and start my shift at the Deri?" |
Cassie wants to get dressed so that she can start her shift at the Deri, but then it appears that the DI’s colleague has found something of interest.

| Jaclyn leaves the house |
Jaclyn comes out of the front door and crosses the road;
 |
| One item of evidence is brought out . . . |
she asks Hywel what is going on, and he answers that Gwyneth has been arrested, something to do with drugs. A detective comes out of number 9, carrying a rolled-up rug in an evidence bag,

followed by another with a large brown paper bag.

| "What are you able to tell us about Gwyneth?" |
Hywel enquires of the DI what she is able to tell them about Gwyneth; “If she is the one who has been selling drugs round here, people have a right to know.”

| "We don't say anything until we have all the facts" |
He is told that the police do not say anything to the public until they have all the facts, and the car drives away.
 |
| "They wouldn't tell me anything at the police station" |
Jaclyn comes into the Deri, and Garry says that he has been at the police station, but they would not tell him anything; Jaclyn hopes that she will be home tonight.

| Dylan is in a cheerful mood |
Dylan also comes in, and Jaclyn reminds him that this is not a joke.

| "I feel guilty, and I haven't done anything" |
Cassie is rather shaken up; “I feel guilty, and I haven’t done anything,” she tells Garry. “Gwyneth is in a lot of trouble, for more than just drugs –

| "The police have been questioning me about the woman who died" |
“the police have been questioning me about that woman who died – Bethan or Jessie – and they’ve taken things from the house in plastic bags.

| This makes Garry think |
“They found a piece of carpet with blood on it.”

| "Sounds like Gwyneth's been dabbling in more than drugs" |
Just along the bar, Dylan remarks to Jaclyn, “Sounds like Gwyneth’s been dabbling in more than drugs.”
Garry has to go and pick up Gwern, and leaves Jaclyn and Cassie to deal with the delivery.

In the interview room, Gwyneth stares up at the camera, then DI Davies returns.

“Interview starts at 11:30,” she begins, “Have you seen this carpet before? We found it in your house – it will be sent to the lab later,

| "Why don't you admit it is Bethan Price's blood?" |
“so why don’t you save everyone time and admit that the blood on it is Bethan Price’s? Come on, Miss Jones, it’s only a matter of time before forensics confirm this.”

| "This is ridiculous!" |
Gwyneth replies, “This is ridiculous!”
 |
| "It's nice to hear you talking at last" |
and the DI comments that it is nice to hear her talking at last. Gwyneth snarls, “Can’t you see what’s going on?

| "Someone is trying to frame me!" |
“Someone is trying to frame me!” This causes the DI to smile,
 |
| "Jaclyn Parry – go and ask her about Jessie!" |
as Gwyneth snarls, “Jaclyn Parry – go and ask her about Jessie!”

| "Why would she want to frame you?" |
DI Davies asks why she would want to frame Gwyneth; “You’re looking for anyone to blame, if you ask me.” Gwyneth goes on that it is rumoured that Jaclyn is the boss of the drugs ring in Cwmderi, and if anyone knows anything about Jessie’s death, it will be her.

| "Apparently the police had a tip-off!" |
Hywel comes into the Deri, reporting that he has spoken to someone from the Western Post; “They said the police had a tip-off about Gwyneth. She’s got plenty of enemies –

| "Have you noticed strangers coming and going" |
“haven’t you noticed strangers coming and going from the house?” Cassie replies that Gwyneth was out late sometimes, but she did not suspect she was a drug dealer – or a murderer.
 |
| "The police were asking me about Bethan Price" |
“The police were asking me about Bethan Price, the one who died,” she continues,

| "I'm not feeling very well" |
and Jaclyn maintains that she is not feeling well, and thinks she should go home. Cassie tells her to go upstairs to get some change first, then she can go home.

| "Chocolate chip, your favourite" |
Upstairs, Garry brings Gwern a chocolate chip cookie and a drink, and Gwern wants to know what is wrong;
 |
| "Why did you fetch me from school?" |
“I don’t understand why you came to fetch me from school.”
 |
| "Your Mam has gone away for a while" |
Garry has something to tell him – that his mother has gone away for a while, with work.
 |
| "Why didn't she tell me?" |
Gwern is perturbed that she did not tell him, and Garry explains that it was a last-minute thing.

| Jaclyn is listening from the doorway |
Jaclyn is standing in the doorway, listening to this, as Garry admits he does not know when Gwyneth will be back;

| "Dani should be back soon" |
“But, with a bit of luck, Dani will be back soon, and until then, I’ll be looking after you. Go and get changed out of your school uniform.”

| "Garry was having a chat with Gwern" |
Jaclyn hurries back downstairs and informs Cassie that she did not get a chance to fetch the change, because Garry was having a chat with Gwern. Then she asks where Dylan went,

| "Dylan said he had work to do" |
and Cassie answers that he had work to do.
 |
| "I've been so stupid, believing her lies" |
Cassie confesses to Garry, “I’ve been so stupid, believing her lies – I didn’t tell the police, but I asked her last week about all the money I found around the place.

| "She admitted she was selling . . . 'her company'!" |
“She admitted that she was selling . . . ‘her company’!”
 |
| "We've all been stupid to believe her lies!" |
Garry agrees that they have all been stupid to believe her lies, adding that he could not tell Gwern, and Dani would know how to handle this situation better than him – but he has still not heard from her.
 |
| "I'm sure Dani will come back" |
Cassie is confident that she will come back.
 |
| Jaclyn cannot get in touch wilth Dylan |
Jaclyn is back home, trying to contact Dylan, and at that moment he walks in;
 |
| "I can't believe what you've done to Gwyneth!" |
“I can’t believe what you’ve done to Gwyneth!” she rages, but he expected her to be in a better mood, now that Gerwyn is home.
“I knew he would be –you two can’t live without each other,” he says.
 |
| "What's this about Gwyneth killing Bethan? Have you framed her?" |
“What’s this about Gwyneth killing Bethan? Have you framed her?”
 |
| "Yeah – I said I would sort her out!" |
He proudly nods his head, and had said that he would sort her out; now he has done so. He smiles malevolently, “Gwyneth isn’t innocent – she’s been coming here, threatening you. She won’t be hassling you any more!”
 |
| "She doesn't deserve to go to jail for killing Bethan!" |
Jaclyn is adamant that she does not deserve to go to jail for killing Bethan,
 |
| "Dod you know she killed Garry's brother?" |
but is informed, “Did you know she killed Garry’s brother? She burned his flat down – she’s dangerous! Do you want her to do the same here? What about Guto and Tesni? She deserves everything she gets! We’ll be safe now.”
 |
| "Just a few routine questions" |
There is a knock at the door, and DI Davies has a few routine questions for Jaclyn; “Are are you happy for me to question you in front of your husband?” the DI asks,
 |
| "He's not my husband – he's my brother" |
and it is pointed out that Dylan is her brother.
 |
| "We're looking for the person who has been selling drugs" |
“We’re looking for the person who has been selling drugs in the area,” the DI begins, and Dylan is quick to agree that this is an awful business. DI Davies goes on, “Someone has suggested that you could help us with our enquiries – there is also a case of a suspicious death as well as drugs, so we have to follow every lead. Do you know anyone called Bethan Price, who also went by the name of Jessie?”

| "I used to know her years ago in Aberporth" |
Jaclyn agrees that she knew her years ago, when they lived quite close in Aberporth; “I remember her at school.”
 |
| "I used to go out with her when we were teenagers" |
Dylan takes over, recalling that he used to go out with her when they were teenagers,
 |
| Jaclyn doubts he should have said that |
and Jaclyn looks somewhat frightened at this.
 |
| "But we haven't seen her for yoars" |
“But we haven’t seen her for years, have we Jacs?” he says; Jaclyn comments that she went to the funeral, as she felt sorry for Bethan after what happened to her. Dylan adds that he could not go, as he is a businessman and had meetings to go to.

| "I was surprised to see Gwyneth at the funeral" |
As an afterthought, Jaclyn mentions that she saw Gwyneth there; “I was surprised because I couldn’t understand how she knew Bethan – but Gwyneth is behind all this, is she?”

| The DI remains tight-lipped about Gwyneth |
The DI is unable to reveal any details, but Jaclyn emphasises that she does not know anything about the drugs, or how Bethan died.
 |
| "We won't take up your time any longer" |
DI Davies thanks them and will not take up their time any longer; “I hope you find out the truth before long,” says Dylan, as he shows them out.
 |
| Dylan is full of confidence that he has beaten the police |
He looks very confident, which is more than can be said for Jaclyn.
 |
| "You left this at Maes-y-Deri" |
In the garage, Mark brings something which Gerwyn left behind at Maes-y-Deri, and is pleased that he and Jaclyn are back together.
 |
| "I was going to call and thank you and Kath" |
Gerwyn was going to call in to thank him and Kath, when he got the chance.
 |
| "Thjere's nothing worse than being separated from your family" |
“There’s nothing worse than being separated from your family,” he points out, and Mark is sure that Gwern must feel like that now.

| "Didn't you see the cops at Gwyneth's house?" |
“Didn’t you see the cops at Gwyneth’s house?” he asks, “She’s been arrested for dealing drugs – but there are rumours that she killed that Bethan Price as well! Poor Gwern.”
 |
| "We must stick together now, Jaclyn, OK?" |
Dylan stresses, “We must stick together now, Jaclyn, OK?” and she very halfheartedly agrees.
 |
| "Gwyneth's been arrested!" |
Gerwyn bursts in with the news that Gwyneth has been arrested, and Jaclyn informs him they already knew –
 |
| "Yes – he framed her!" |
and that Dylan framed her. He argues that he did not have a choice, as she was coming there, threatening Jaclyn,
 |
| "You should be glad I sorted her out" |
and they should be glad he has sorted her out.
“Don’t pretend you were doing that for us – framing Gwyneth gets you off the hook, too!” Jaclyn snarls, but Gerwyn warns her it is pointless to reason with him, as he does not have a conscience.
 |
| "I had to blame someone for losing the drugs . . ." |
“Here he is – the man who knows best!” Dylan exclaims, “I framed Gwyneth for your sake, too! I had to blame someone for losing the drugs –
 |
| ". . . after you threw them in the sea!" |
“after you threw them into the sea! Yes, Gwyneth’s arrest gets us all out of a hole, doesn’t it?”
 |
| He is given the slow handclap by Jaclyn |
Jaclyn sarcastically applauds him, and he says they can thank him another time; he walks out of the house,
 |
| "We can't sit back and do nothing, can we?" |
and Gerwyn insists, “We can’t sit back and do nothing, can we?”
 |
| "This is never going to end, Ger!" |
and she gloomily predicts that this is never going to end.
 |
| By now, Gwyneth is seriously rattled |
Meanwhile, in the interview room, Gwyneth is becoming increasingly troubled; when DI Davies comes in, she demands, “Have you arrested Jaclyn?”
 |
| "Gwyneth Jones, I am charging you with possession of class A drugs" |
In lieu of an answer, she is informed, “Gwyneth Jones, I am charging you with possession of class A drugs, with intent to supply. I’m also charging you with the murder of Bethan Price.”
 |
| "Listen to me – Jaclyn's behind all this!" |
Gwyneth rages, “Listen to me – Jaclyn’s behind all this!”
 |
| "You will appear in court tomorrow" |
but she is told that she will appear in court tomorrow before being remanded until her court case. As she is led from the room, she is still protesting, “I’m innocent!”
