As Cassie comes out of the shop, the bottom falls out of her paper bag

and vegetables are scattered on the road; Siôn quickly comes to her aid, and produces a reusable cotton bag from his pocket.

| Siôn valiantly comes to the rescue, but it appears one of the apples is overlooked |
“Just doing my bit to save the planet!” he comments,

| 'Em' is approaching number 9 |
and as they reach the other side of the road, ‘Em’ is coming along.
As she opens the door of number 9,

| "She's your girl, is she?" |
Siôn asks if she is Cassie’s girl; “Don’t call her a ‘girl’, whatever you do,” she groans, “She’s binary or something.”

| "You mean 'non-binary' - or Aneuaidd" |
Siôn realises that she means ‘non-binary’, and even knows the Welsh word for it, ‘Aneuaidd’, which comes as a surprise to Cassie. “You know, like that singer, Sam Smith,” he says. Cassie comments that she had never heard of it, but that there are a lot of fads these days;

| "We've done nothing but fight since she got back" |
“We’ve done nothing but fight since she got back.” Siôn suggests they could go for a coffee, admitting that he does not have all the answers, but they could have a chat.

| "I'd like to talk to someone before I go doolally" |
“Yes, I’d like to talk to somebody before I go doolally!” Cassie replies.

| "I just wanted a closer look at the handle, honestly" |
In the Deri, Debbie is talking to Jaclyn, attempting to cover her tracks about yesterday; “I feel terrible about it, Tesni catching me like that – I just wanted a closer look at the handle, honest. Anita’s has given me the details now.”

Jaclyn was under the impression it was just a normal dresser.

| Garry is rather abrupt |
Garry is in a rather cantankerous mood, and reminds Jaclyn that the specials for today need to be put up on the board.

| "It's time for Dani to come back" |
She remarks to Debbie, “It’s time for Dani to come back – he might be in a better mood then.”
 |
| Debbie notices her unattended handbag |
As Jaclyn walks away, Debbie notices that she has left her handbag behind.

| "Did you go and see Gwyneth?" |
Garry demands, “Did you go and see her? What did she want?” Debbie maintains that Gwyneth just wanted to see a familiar face.

| "Her name is 'Em' now" |
In the café, where Llinos is doing a shift, Cassie explains to Siôn, “Her name is ‘Em’ now! On the one hand, it was not a shock – I’ve always thought of her as a bit of a tomboy.

| "I wouldn't have been surprised if she said she was gay" |
“I wouldn’t have been surprised if she said that she was gay. This may not be a PC thing to say, but is this ‘binary’ business for real – or is she just doing it to annoy me?”

Siôn considers that she has probably been like this for years, and does not think she is doing it to spite Cassie,

Garry, with a depressed look, is leaning on the bar, when he hears a familiar voice;

it is Dani, with Seren, and John Post is bringing in the luggage from the taxi. “Look, it’s Dadi!” says Dani, and he is overjoyed to see them,

| "We have a lot to discuss" |
commenting that they have a lot to discuss.
Dani is concerned about Gwern, after what has happened to Gwyneth, and Garry says he will be better now that she is home. He is about to pay for the taxi, but she says she has already done that,

| "Surprise for you, Garry!" |
and has a surprise for him.

| "I don't think Dadi can cope with any more surprises!" |
Garry tells Seren that he does not think he can cope with any more surprises.
When Danny re-enters, carrying a small fluffy dog,

| "Oh – another dog!" |
Garry’s face falls;

| "Teddy, this is your new Dadi!" |
“Garry, this is Teddy! Teddy, this is your new Dadi!” she says, “He’s a Pomeranian – he was Gloria’s daughter’s friend’s dog, but she got a job in Dubai, and I thought he’d fit in here perfectly.”

| "Oh, isn't he gorgeous!" |
Jaclyn thinks that he is gorgeous, but this opinion is obviously not shared by Garry. Jaclyn would love to have a dog, but Gerwyn is allergic; as she reminisces about a dog she had when she was younger,

| Debbie snaffles something from Jaclyn's bag |
Debbie takes the opportunity to slip her hand into Jaclyn’s handbag and remove something.

| "Are you serious?" |
“Are you serious that he’s coming to live with us?” asks Garry, and Dani assures him that he has had the jabs, is housetrained and is used to kids. “I wish you had discussed it with me first,” he remarks.

| "Don't say you're going to refuse to let me have a dog, Garry!" |
“Don’t say you’re going to refuse to let me have a dog, Garry – I’m allowed to make some decisions, aren’t I?” Dani replies, “So, while I sort Seren out, you can bond with Teddy.”

| He is not at all comfortable with this |
Garry looks far from happy with the prospect.

| 'Em' is preparing to leave again |
When Cassie returns home, ‘Em’ is ready to leave, but was waiting to say goodbye; “Even if we don’t get on, we are family.”

Her mother asks her not to leave like this, but ‘Em’ demands that she answer one question;

| "Why did you stay away for so long?" |
“Why did you stay away for so long – seven years? Didn’t you love me.”
Cassie insists that of course she loved her;

| "But I couldn't deal with you" |
“But I couldn’t deal with you – you and Huw understood each other.”

| "It wasn't easy without a mother to turn to" |
‘Em’ points out that it was not easy, being a teenager, coming to terms with things – without a mother to turn to.

| Cassie wants them to start again |
Cassie maintains that she would not have been a lot of use to her daughter, and wonders if they can start again; she asks if she can be forgiven. “I’m not ready to give up on you, so please don’t give up on me.”

| Seren is engrossed in her colouring |
Seren is doing some colouring as Garry comes in

| "You've left him in our bedroom, Dan" |
to point out, “You’ve left him in our bedroom,” and Dani answers that it is cosy in there,

as she does not want him to have abandonment issues. He wonders, “Do you think it’s healthy to let a dog sleep in the same room?”
She informs him, “They’re like babies to start with – they need to feel safe. He’ll move in here in a few nights – please don’t spoil things.”

“I can’t tell you how happy I am to have you home,” he tells her, “You don’t need to cook anything – I’ve booked us a table.”

| "This is for Teddy – it's healthier than that tinned stuff" |
She replies that she is preparing food for Teddy, as it is healthier than stuff in tins.

| "That dog is more trouble than a child" |
Garry mutters that the dog is more trouble than a child,
 |
| "You didn't want another child – so Teddy's staying!' |
but Dani reminds him, “You didn’t want another child – so Teddy’s staying!”

| "I wanted to tell you something, Dan" |
He is about to point out that he has changed his mind about that, but now Dani considers that she has everything she needs;

| I accept you don't want any more children" |
“I accept you don’t want any more children – but Teddy’s staying – all right?”

| "How are we going to deal with Gwern?" |
Then he pretends that what he wanted to say was concerning Gwern, and how they are going to cope with things, as so much has happened. Dani assures him that everything will be fine, because they have each other, family and friends. “Actually, it might be easier if Gwyneth wasn’t here – and he’ll love Teddy – what else do we need?”

and this gives her a chance to escape through the back door, as Guto says (in English) that they are quite happy with the broadband they have already got.

At Cysgod y Glyn, Ffion comes in and laments that is she only managed to run 3km today, but Rhys does not think that is bad after a day’s work.

“For an old woman, yeah?” she groans, but he tells her not to talk like that.

“You’re beautiful and I love you,” he emphasises, but she makes it clear that she does not want to be 44, and going through the menopause;

she protests that she is too young to have all this. Then she apologises to him,

and says that she has made an appointment to see the doctor. He is pleased to hear it, reasoning that once she knows what she is dealing with, it will be a lot easier.

“You’re 25, Rhys!” she emphasises, “How sexy is the menopause in that context?”

He replies that it is as sexy as ‘J-Lo’, Kylie, Cameron Diaz;

| 'Em' is introduced to Garry |
Cassie and ‘Em’ come into the Deri, and Garry is introduced as the one who sent the detective. He, in turn, introduces his wife, Dani,

and it is pointed out to him that ‘Em’ does not want to be called a girl, as she is ‘non-binary’.

| "I like that 'androgenous vibe'!" |
Dani comments, “I like that ‘androgynous vibe’, and that jacket!”

| "No, Mam, not 'her' – it's 'their'" |
When Cassie jokes that she does not raid her wardrobe, she is immediately corrected, that is the correct term is ‘their’, not ‘her’.

| "You've got everything a woman has!" |
Garry is showing signs of confusion, enquiring, “If you’re not ‘he’ or ‘she’ – you’re ‘their’, right? But you’ve got everything a woman has!”
He is informed that it is simple, really; “I’m just me!”

| Garry cannot help laughing at this |
Garry regards this with some amusement, as the dog can be heard barking upstairs, by means of the baby monitor, and Dani will go and investigate. He explains to Cassie that it is Dani’s new friend, and she informs them that Pomeranians do not like being left on their own.

| "Small dog, massive personality" |
Apparently, ‘Em’ had a friend with a Pomeranian, and describes it as, “Small dog, massive personality.” She accompanies Dani upstairs.

| "You seem very fond of Teddy!" |
Cassie warns Garry, “Don’t say anything – I’m trying to understand it myself. You seem very fond of Teddy!” He answers that Teddy is better than a baby.

| "You could be going through the perimenopause" |
Ffion has indeed visited the doctor, who informs her, “You could be going through the perimenopause, but because of your age and the symptoms I’d like to do some blood tests to check your hormone levels.

| "Will it be impossible to have more children?" |
Ffion enquires whether it will be impossible to have more children,
 |
| "We advise you to use contraception" |
and is told that they advise any woman going through the perimenopause to use contraception, as it is far from impossible – if that is what it is.
Ffion reveals, “My partner is a lot . . . Well, I am in a relatively new relationship, so if I can’t have children, it’s only fair that he knows.

| "We'll do the blood tests first" |
The doctor says that they will take one step at a time, with blood tests first; Ffion is told to make another appointment to see her.

| 'Em' is evidently talented with design |
‘Em’ shows her mother some of the drawings she has done, and Cassie wonders where this talent will take her;

| "College is way too expensive" |
she would like to be a graphic designer, but maintains that it is too late now, and college is way too expensive.

| "You don't make a fortune behind the bar" |
Cassie suggests that she could help with that, but ‘Em’ is not convinced that she makes a fortune behind the bar.

| "I write books under the name of Cassandra Auburn" |
“I don’t just make money there – I write books – fiction, under the name of Cassandra Auburn.

"I’m no Jackie Collins, but there is a market out there.”

| "What sort of books?" |
‘Em’ finds this absolutely hilarious, and wonders what sort of books they are.

| "You mean porn!" |
“I like to call them romantic novels,” her mother says, which ‘Em’ takes to mean ‘porn’. Cassie concedes that there are some erotic elements, but there is good money to be made.

| Siôn and Anita arrive |
Siôn and Anita come in, and when he sees that Dani is back,

| "Now's your chance, Anita" |
he advises that Anita should go and speak to her;
 |
| "You're in court next week" |
he reminds her, “You’re in court next week, and it might be time to swallow some of your pride.”
 |
| "Could I have a word – in private?" |
Reluctantly, Anita asks Dani if she might have a word in private, and they go upstairs.
 |
| "Is Jaclyn there?" |
Debbie comes in, asking if Jaclyn is there, and is told that she is in the kitchen; “If you want something to eat, you should hurry, because she is about to finish,” Garry tells her.
 |
| "You didn't reply to any of my messages" |
Up in the flat, Anita begins, rather abrasively, “I am a little disappointed that you didn’t reply to any of my messages.”
 |
| "Your 'apology' didn't sound genuine" |
Dani replies that we all feel disappointed sometimes, and maintains that Anita’s so-called apology did not sound genuine.
 |
| "Like I said in those messages – at least nine of them" |
“Well, I’m here now to apologise face to face,” Anita stresses, “Like I said in those messages – at least nine of them –
 |
| "And now you've had time to consider" |
‘I’m sorry, truly sorry, that you took things the wrong way. And now you’ve had time to consider and realise that I was only worried about Greta.”
 |
| "After accusing me of kidnapping Greta . . ." |
Dani is not very satisfied with this apology; “So, let me get this straight – after accusing me of kidnapping Greta and then assaulting me,
 |
| ". . . the only thing you're sorry about is how I'm reacting?" |
“the only thing you’re sorry about is the way I’m reacting to it all?”
Anita insists that she is thinking of Dani as well;

| "Dragging a middle-aged woman through court." |
“How is it going to look that you’re dragging a middle-aged woman through court because she cares about the welfare of a little girl?”

| "Get out, Anita!" |
Dani has now heard enough, and instructs Anita to get out; “Or do you want me to add harassment and loss of earnings to the charge?”

| "It was an accident!" |
Anita loudly protests that it was an accident,
 |
| "And you can't even say sorry about that!" |
and is told, “And you can’t even say sorry about that!” As Anita stalks out, Dani looks quite pleased with her performance.

| "I'm trying to be open with Gwern" |
Downstairs, Siôn enquires how Garry is dealing with Gwern; “I’m trying to be open with him, but he spelt to find out on the school yard, like last week,” he answers.

| "We're leaving, Siôn!" |
Anita comes downstairs and orders Siôn that they are leaving now;
 |
| "She spoke to me like a piece of dirt!" |
she rages, “She’s such a madam! She spoke to me like a piece of dirt!”
 |
| "Here's that list of specials, Garry" |
Jaclyn comes to the bar with the list of specials for Garry to look at, before she goes to the Cash and Carry.
 |
| "I found these on the table" |
Debbie, who has been hanging around, brings across Jaclyn’s keys, alleging that she found them on a table.
 |
| "You didn't find them on the table" |
As soon as she has gone, Garry, tackles Debbie; “You didn’t find them on the table – I would have seen them,” so she changes her story to finding them under the table.
 |
| "What were you doing with Jaclyn's keys?" |
“What were you doing with Jaclyn’s keys?” he demands.
 |
| "Gwyneth thinks Jaclyn framed her" |
“Gwyneth thinks she is in prison because Jaclyn framed her,” she replies, and Garry cannot believe she is serious.
 |
| "She's going to drag me down!" |
“Framed her for killing Jessie – and she’s going to drag me down if I don’t find evidence!”
“And you didn’t find any, did you? And you won’t?” he predicts. Debbie does not know what to do,
 |
| Garry has that determined look |
and Garry walks away from her, with a determined look on his face.
 |
| Guto has been preparing dinner |
Jaclyn arrives home, complaining that she has had a long day, but Guto has prepared Pasta Arrabbiata for their meal;
 |
| "I'll be a good catch for someone, some day" |
“I’ll be a good catch for someone, some day,” he boasts, “But actually I cheated on the sauce.”
 |
| "You know you should keep this door locked" |
His mother notices that the back door is ajar, and admonishes him for not locking it;
 |
| "I haven't used that door today" |
he replies that he has not been out through that door today, and does not know why it was open.
 |
| Something is not right here |
She looks at the keys, with suspicion growing in her mind.
