25 February 2020

Colin is working at the shop . . .
Colin is putting out the vegetables in front of the shop when Aaron returns from his paper round,
. . . when Aaron returns from a successful paper round
and confirms that they have all been correctly delivered;  now he wants his wages.
"I'll sort it out by the end of the week"
Colin says he will sort it out by the end of the week, but Aaron is not willing to wait, protesting that he is not slave labour.
“All right – go and get it from the till – and remember to put in an IOU for the money, says Colin,
Colin sorts out the flowers
and arranges the flowers.   Izzy comes across the road,
"I want the flat tidied up for Britt"
and her father tells her that Britt is arriving home at lunchtime, so he wants the flat tidied up.
"I want the place to be perfect when she gets home"
“I’m up to my eyes with work, and I want the place to be perfect when Britt gets home,” he insists.
"I didn't realise you offered self-service in the shop"
Then Siôn comes along and comments that he did not realise they offered self-service in the shop;  “There are customers by the till,” so Colin rushes inside, wondering why Aaron did not serve them, but he points out that his job is delivering papers.
"How are the arrangements coming along for St David's Day ?"
“How are the arrangements coming along?” Siôn asks Izzy, and when she looks blankly at him, elaborates, “For the St David’s Day celebrations.”   He adds, sarcastically, “Oh, I forgot – Yr Antur doesn’t celebrate Welsh events – only English ones, like St Valentine’s Day!”
"It's something special this year – a surprise!"
She alleges that they are organising something special this year, but it is a surprise, and she hurries away before he can question her any further.
Kelly is willing her phone to ring . . .
Kelly is hanging around behind APD, looking intently at her phone –
. . . and this is the number she wants to see on the display
particularly at the name of Jason in her contacts.
Debbie brings out the rubbish to the bin, and Kelly wonders who is serving in the café;
"You – I'm in charge of bins, remember?"
“You – I’m in charge of the bins, remember?” is the reply, “Are you all right?   You’ve been staring at your phone all morning.”
"I'll be there in a minute"
Kelly says that she will return to the café in a moment.
Ffion is also concentrating on her phone . . .
Ffion is also looking at her phone, but this time at the ‘Period Tracker’ app,
. . . but for a different reason
particularly the notification that she is five days late.   She quickly puts down the phone when Rhys comes in,
"Arwen can't find her tights with hearts on them"
reporting that Arwen cannot find her tights with the hearts on them, but it appears they are in the wash, and she will have to wear a plain pair.
It is evident that something is wrong
He can see that Ffion is not feeling well,
"Phone Gaynor and go back to bed"
and he instructs her to phone Gaynor and to go back to bed;  he will take Arwen to school.
"Gaynor's on my back already!"
Then a text message appears on Ffion’s phone, and she complains, “Gaynor’s on my back already!”
"I haven't got time for breakfast"
She has no time for any breakfast, and pretends that she is fine;
"I'll cook a nice dinner tonight"
Rhys will cook a nice dinner for them tonight, and she hopes that she will be home not later than six.
Ffion is rather distant with him this morning
He is about to kiss her, but she is rather less than receptive, saying that she will see him later;  he looks worried.
"Why am I doing the washing-up?"
In the chippy flat, Eifion remarks, “Explain to me again why I’m doing the washing-up – this isn’t my house.”
"I'm not going to let Siôn White make a fool of me!"
Izzy replies that she is not going to let Siôn White make a fool of her,
"You could organise a raffle"
and he suggests that she could organise a raffle.
Izzy is dead against this idea
“No – do you realise how much of a faff it is to organise a raffle?” she demands, “It takes ages for the money to come in, and people like me have to put their hands in their pockets to make up for any loss.”
She is not interested in any more or his suggestions . . .
She snarls that she does not want to hear any more suggestions from him, but then relents,
. . . until he mentions an auction
and he points out that she could organise an auction;  she considers this to be a perfect idea – easy to organise – and plenty of profit.
She is mainly interested in what she can get out of it
“You never know, perhaps we could do something nice with the money left over!” she gloats, “You’re not that useless after all!”
Britt is back home from Portugal . . .
Colin arrives back with Britt,
. . . and is pleased the place has been kept tidy
who is very impressed with the tidiness of the place.
Angharad appears in the gym
In the gym, we see that Angharad is checking out the place, and tries her hand at the cycling machine;  in the background, Dylan is weight-lifting.
Dylan is eager to give some assistance
She appears to be having some trouble, so Dylan comes over to assist, advising her that there is a knack to it.
"You've got the knack, have you?"
“You’ve got the knack, have you?” Angharad says, provocatively, and begins pedalling,
Dylan appears interested
while Dylan looks her up and down, then resumes his bodybuilding.
"You wouldn't recognise him – Chester's all muscles!"
“You wouldn’t recognise him – Chester’s all muscles!” Britt informs them, “But it was so nice to see him – and Catrin as well, of course.   It doesn’t matter what the doctor says –
"The best medicine is spending time with the family"
“the best medicine is spending time with the family.   Did I tell you we went over to see this bloke . . ?”
"I'm busy, organising St David's Day"
Izzy cannot sit and listen, but is busy organising St David’s Day celebrations, which she hopes can be held in the Deri, and Britt thinks that it is a great idea.
"Left it a bit late again, haven't you?"
“You’ve left things a bit late again, haven’t you?” points out Colin, “What did you have in mind – leek soup and dancing?”
Izzy proudly announces that there will be an auction;  “I’m sure I can persuade local businesses to donate a few things – Penrhewl, APD.”
"Looks like the donations will be jam and bricks!"
Colin comments that it looks as if the donations will be jam and bricks.
Britt wishes her good luck, trying to persuade Dai to give her something,
"I know exactly how to 'suck up to' Dai!"
but Izzy maintains that she knows exactly how to ‘suck up to Dai’,
"I don't like the sound of that!"
something which Britt regards as sounding rather distasteful.
“They sound like prizes you would win in a raffle,” Colin remarks, “Now – that’s an idea!” but Izzy is quite adamant she is not doing a raffle.   “If you want people to bid, you have to offer something worth bidding for!” he instructs her.
"They had a Shane Williams rugby shirt!"
Britt remembers one auction they went to near Swansea, where they had Shane Williams’ rugby shirt – and that went for at least £1,000;  “Yeah – that’s what you need – something exclusive!   If you find something like that, people will throw money at you!”
Izzy has an idea
This sounds very appealing to Izzy.
"It's nice to be home, Col"
Britt once more tells Colin that it is nice to be home.
Dylan shows off his weight-lifting prowess . . .
Dylan is lifting what appear to be heavy weights,
. . . and cannot help ogling Angharad
and then takes another look at Angharad;
"I haven't see you around the place"
“I haven’t seen you around the place, but have we met before?” he asks.
"I'm new to the area"
She replies that she is new to the area, and thought she would try out this gym.   He is sure that her face looks familiar.
“Do you run?   I’m sure I’ve seen you near Cwrtmynach,” she suggests,
"I'm a businessman, and I run if I have the time"
and he says that when he has time off from being a businessman, he does run sometimes.
He makes a point of informing her that he runs Tapas, enquiring, “Do you like Tapas?”
"I like trying anything"
She answers that she likes trying anything, which he finds encouraging, then goes off to have a shower,
Already, Angharad is formulating a plan
while she appears to be developing another plan.
She picks up the locker keys he left behind
She picks up his locker keys, which he has inadvertently left behind.
Izzy has been shopping with Megan
Izzy comes out of Apêl Maenan with a bagful of various items and meets Siôn,
"Esyllt, Colin told me about the auction"
who addresses her as “Esyllt, Colin’s just told me about the auction –
"Oh – trust Dad to open his mouth!"
“it’s a good idea, a bit ambitious perhaps.   Didn’t you consider something simpler?
"If you're looking for an auctioneer . . ."
“If you’re looking for an auctioneer, I’ve done a few in my day,”
"I already have someone in mind, Siôn"
but she assures him she has someone in mind.
Kelly pours herself some orange juice
Up in the café flat, Kelly is still wearing a very concerned look as she pours out a glass of orange juice;
It is only a message from Debbie downstairs
her phone sounds, and she immediately grabs it, but is disappointed to find that it is only Debbie downstairs, reporting there is not enough change in the till.
She is decidedly not happy
She angrily slams down the phone again.
"Only ten more minutes on ther iPad, Arwen"
Rhys warns Arwen that she only has another 10 minutes on the iPad, and then dinner will be ready;
He gets out his shopping . . .
he has a bag of shopping and a bunch of flowers for Ffion.   He hears a phone ringing, and discovers that it is Ffion’s, which she has left behind;
. . . then there is a call from Gaynor
it is Gaynor calling, so he ignores it,
Siomething else catches Rhys' eye . . .
but then his attention is attracted by an incoming notification on the phone.
. . . the notification that Ffion is five days late
The Period Tracker is again informing Ffion that she is five days late,
The implications of this percolate into Rhys' mind
and he appears to be reaching some kind of conclusion.
Ffion is talking to two pupils
At school, Ffion is speaking to two girls in her office, and then resumes typing something on the computer;
Obviously, not a particularly relevant illustration
a message pops up on the screen from Gaynor, which reads, “Answer your phone!”
Gaynor is on the phone
and then the school phone rings.
Ffion assures Gaynor that she is not ignoring her, but has left her phone at home;
"Yes, all right, Gaynor"
she is given yet another task to do, which apparently cannot wait until tomorrow.
"Just what I could do without!"
She looks furious as she puts down the phone.
Angharad is snooping around somewhere else . . .
The office at Tapas is in darkness as there is a tap at the door;  Angharad walks in and looks around;
. . . and relieves the cash box of some cash
her attention is drawn by a cash box, which she investigates and removes the notes from it, placing them in her handbag.
She finds a suitable bottle of wine . . .
Then she turns to the wine bottles,
. . . and two glasses
and prepares two glasses.
Dylan is not expecting that
When Dylan comes in, he is very surprised to see her there;
"Does the boss have time for a quick one?"  (nudge, nudge, wink, wink)
“Does the boss have time for a quick one?” she asks, brandishing the bottle, and he is rendered speechless.
"I've got to tell Garry about Chester and Catrin"
Colin wants to go to Cwm Delhi for a change, but Britt is intent on going to the Deri to tell Garry about Catrin and Chester.   They will see Izzy and Eifion later,
"No, Eifion!   Aaron might walk in"
but Izzy does not want to get down to any romantic business as she is afraid that Aaron will walk in.
She suggests they could have a bottle of wine from the fridge,
"It would be nice of we could go away somewhere"
and remarks, “It would be nice if we could go away soon, wouldn’t it?   It’s ages since we’ve been on holiday.
She regards the auction proceeds as her own personal money
“It depends what we can afford with this auction!”
"We're very busy at Penrhewl at the moment – with the lambing"
Eifion replies that it will not be easy as he is very busy at Penrhewl at the moment, but she maintains that he deserves a holiday.
"A pair of scruffy old trainers?"
Izzy says that she has something to show him for the auction, and produces a pair of disreputable old trainers.   “Not just any old trainers – these were owned by presenter and marathon runner, Angharad Mair!   We’ll get loads for these!”
"Size 10?   She would never wear that size!"
He draws her attention to the fact that they are size 10, and she would never wear a pair that size, so Izzy will go back tomorrow to find something else.
"How about this – a first edition?"
“What about this – an original copy of Dail Pren [Wooden Leaves] by Waldo Williams,” is her next item,
"It says 'fourth edition' here"
but Eifion points out that it says ‘fourth edition’.
"Right – it's a first edition now!"
Her answer is to tear out that page, and she insists that now it is a first edition.
"Gaynor has been going on and on for ages!"
Ffion arrives home very late, reporting that Gaynor has been going on and on for ages;
"Why didn't you phone to say?"
“Why didn’t you phone to say?” he asks, “And leaving your phone at home is no excuse, because you could have phoned from the office.”
"Don't be angry – I'm tired"
She begs him not to be angry with her, because she is tired;
"Because you've had a long day . . ."
Rhys picks up her phone and presents it to her.   “Because you’ve had a long day,
". . . or because you're pregnant?"
“or because you’re pregnant?” he queries.
Ffion remains silent
She makes no comment.
Geraint's beard has grown a lot
Geraint is serving behind the bar in the Deri, and Kelly asks for vodka and lemonade;
"Have you seen Jason at all today?"
she asks DJ if he is all right, and wonders, “Have you seen Jason today, at all?”
"He's gone away"
but then learns that he has gone away.
"I needed a quote for the café kitchen"
She makes up an excuse about needing a quote from him for the kitchen in the café,
"You'll have to wait until he gets back from Australia!"
and is told, “Well, you’ll have to wait until he gets back from Australia!”
"You what?"
She looks aghast at this news, and DJ goes on, “It was a last-minute thing – he texted Diane from the airport on Saturday morning.   He’s gone to see his sister, apparently.   Why don’t you ask Dad for your quote?   You’d better ask him soon – he’ll be up to his eyes without Jason!”
"Why didn't you tell me they'd gone on holiday?"
Britt complains to Colin, “Why didn’t you tell me that Garry and Dani had gone on holiday – you know I worry when they go away.”
"It was the excitement of having you home"
He says that he forgot with all the excitement of having her home.   She reminds him they are celebrating his promotion;
"Mr Manager!   I'm really proud of you, Col!"
“Mr Manager!   I’m really proud of you, Col!”
It appears they have been 'up to something'
At Tapas, Dylan and Angharad seemed to have ‘got to know each other’ quite rapidly, but she decides, “That is enough!”
Angharad ties up her belt
and does up her belt, while he buttons his shirt.
"Two workouts in one day"
Dylan asks if she is OK, and points out she has had two workouts in one day.
"You've obviously got the stamina!"
“You’ve obviously got the stamina!” she remarks,
She hands him the keys
and hands him the keys that she picked up in the gym, but will not permit him to kiss her again.
Watch out, Sara – you look like being replaced
Dylan appears quite impressed
Ffion takes a couple of tablets
Ffion takes a couple of tablets with some water,
"Sometimes I'm early and sometimes late"
and points out to Rhys, “I’m never regular – sometimes I’m early and sometimes late – it’s no big deal.   I’m starting to get cramps already.”
"Are you sure?"
He demands if she is sure,
"Don't worry – I'm not pregnant!"
and she confirms that she is not pregnant, and that he should not worry.
"Something is wrong, Ffi!"
“I’d worry less if you went to the doctor,” he replies, “You might not be pregnant but something is wrong, Ffi!”
"The problem is just PMT – and Gaynor!"
She insists, rather too emphatically, that she is fine, and that her problem is just PMT – and Gaynor.
He does not appear convinced, and demands, “Promise that you will tell me if you’re not feeling better, OK?”
Rhys embraces her
She says that she promises, and he hugs her.
