Rhys is off for a run

Rhys comes out of the shop flat, heading for a run, as Diane walks past.

Tickets are running out

Lleucu is putting up an addition to her poster about the gig on the shop window and wonders if Diane would like a ticket.

Lleucu tries to interest Diane . . .

“Do you like R&B?   I’m performing – it’ll be a laugh!   But the tickets have almost sold out.”

. . . but her mind is on other things

Over her shoulder Diane can see the door of number 7 opening

"It's not my kind of thing"

and replies that it does not sound like her kind of thing, then hurries across to see Kelly.

"We need legal advice!"

“We need legal advice!” she snarls, but Kelly urges her to think about this;  they do not want to go to court if they can avoid it.   “Sara is not getting away with this –

"I've phoned Elin already"

“I’ve phoned Elin already – she’s looking to see if we have a case,” Diane adds, “Come into the deli for a talk.”

"All right, Kel?"

Rhys comes running round the corner, obviously going round a short circuit, asking, “All right, Kel?” as he passes.

Brynmor is being fussed over

In the Deri flat, Brynmor is now home, with both Eleri and Kath fussing over him;  they carefully manoeuvre him on to the sofa

"I'll make some coffee"

and when Eleri suggests that she can make some coffee, Kath considers that Horlicks would be better, as he does not need caffeine.

Eleri has no idea where Horlicks is kept and, when directed to it by Kath,

Horlicks all over the table!

manages to spill it on the table, shouting out in anger.   “What are you trying to do?   Give me another heart attack?” says her father.

Dai addresses Clwb Awelon

Dai is presenting another slideshow to the members of Clwb Awelon;  “After my last show on the views of Wales was a hit, I’m taking you further afield, outside Wales.”

Megan is wheeled in . . .

Megan appears in her wheelchair, being pushed by Maya;

. . . to Dai's surprise

“How are you?   I wasn’t expecting to see you today,” he says.   She is very grateful to Maya for bringing her to the village,

"The dizziness is the biggest concern"

but complains that her dizziness is the biggest concern.

"You're not going to leave me?"

Maya is going to leave her now and Dai agrees that she must have better things to do.   He turns to his presentation,

"The best rugby stadiums in the world1"

“The best rugby stadiums in the world!”

Megan is in for a thrilling afternoon

Megan does not think that she is likely to enjoy this.

Now Eleri is looking for something to clear up the mess,

"We don't want to disturb Brynmor"

but Kath does not want to disturb Brynmor with the vacuum cleaner, so she will do it with a brush and pan.

"Dad doesn't need two nurses"

“Listen, Kath, I’ve been thinking – you’ve got everything under control here.   Dad doesn’t need two nurses, so the sooner I’m out of here, the better.”

"Where will you go, then?"

Kath enquires where she will go, and she answers,

"There's more for me than Cwmderi can offer"

“To be honest, I think there’s more out there for me than what Cwmderi has to offer.”

"What will happen to Tomos ac Ellis?"

If she is thinking about leaving the area, Kath wants to know what will happen to Tomos ac Ellis.   “Well, I’ve had an offer to sell the business – it’s a good offer, so I’d be silly to reject it.”

Kath cannot believe that she is really thinking of leaving, stressing that her father has just come home,

"Cwmderi was only temporary"

but Eleri maintains that Cwmderi was only temporary.   “Just stay until he gets a bit stronger, will you?” asks Kath.

"What?   You're not serious?"

Inside the deli, with the ‘missing’ poster in the window, Diane is speaking to Elin;  “Yes, I know she’s his biological mother – what?   You’re not serious?

"Is there anything we can do?"

“That’s not right!   Is there anything we can do?”

"OK, I'll come with you"

Kelly can see that did not go well;  “Have you got Sara’s address?” asks Diane.   Kelly hands over the piece of paper, insisting that she will accompany Diane, but this is refused.

"Leave this to me!"

“Leave this to me!   Send an e-mail to Elin, explaining exactly what Sara’s like.”

As Diane walks out of the deli, she meets Rhys who is seeking refreshment after his exhausting run.   He offers to buy something for Kelly,

"Do we have a list of solicitors?"

but she is more interested in whether Tomos ac Ellis has a list of solicitors that clients use;  “Ones that don’t cost the earth, like?”

"When we do the handover later'

He brags, “I’ll get it for you when Eleri and I do the handover later!

"You what?"

“Well, she’s more or less agreed to sell Tomos ac Ellis –

"You're looking at your new boss"

“so, Kelly Francis, you’re looking at your new boss!

"What do you want?   A latté?"

“Now, what do you want – a latté?”

Kath takes Maya's order

In the Deri, Maya is ordering Lasagne, but will not have a drink

"I'm Megan's personal chauffeur"

as she is Megan’s personal chauffeur today.

"You'll need a large glass later, then"

In that case Kath recommends that she will need a large glass later.

Mark comes in

Mark comes in and Maya is very glad to see him;

"I'm worried about Megan"

“I’m worried about Megan – you know when you found her, did she say that she’d knocked her head?”   As far as he was aware, she was only concerned about her ankle.

"Don't mention this to anyone? — with Kath Jones listening?

“Please don’t mention this to anyone else, Megan’s been complaining that her head hurts, but I’m not sure – perhaps she’s hoping for some attention.   The nurses said everything was fine on the CT scan.”

"Poor Brynmor is struggling to put his socks on"

Kath has returned to the bar and concludes that Megan is lying;  “She should be ashamed – poor Brynmor is struggling to put his socks on upstairs!”

"Calm down, Mam"

Mark urges his mother to calm down, suspecting that Megan might be lonely or something, but she is unsympathetic;  “Attention-seeking, lonely – she need to sort herself out.”

Diane has gone to Lampeter

Diane walks up the drive of a semi-detached house and rings the doorbell.

"Well, well – you must remember me"

The door is opened by David White and she says, “Well, well – you must remember me.”

He does indeed;  “Diane!”

"Why don't you come in, Diane?"

and she walks in without invitation.

"I thought you were sleeping"

Eleri finds her father getting himself a glass of water;  “I thought you were sleeping,” she says,

"Don't make a fuss"

but he tells her not to make a fuss.

"Where is Kath, then?"

She instructs him to sit on the sofa and he wonders where Kath is.   “She’s doing a shift while you were napping,” replies Eleri.

He is surprised that she is not working, understanding that she had a meeting this afternoon with the developers.

“I wanted to discuss that, but it can wait,” she insists.

"I'm thinking of selling to Rhys Llywelyn"

However, Brynmor demands to know what is worrying her.   “Well, you see, it’s the business – I’m thinking of selling it – to Rhys Llywelyn.”

Brynmor cannot believe his ears;  “I know that you had plans, but buying and selling houses really doesn’t suit me,” she continues, “And I miss living in a city – you carry on without me.”

"You're not selling Tomos ac Ellis!"

He roughly grabs her arm, snarling, “Don’t you dare!   You’re not selling Tomos ac Ellis!

"I want you to think long-term here"

“I want you to think long-term here – you’d be a fool to turn your back on Tomos ac Ellis, just because you’re struggling to settle there.

"Remember how much of an investment this is for us"

“And remember how much of an investment this is for us!”

"You've got a nice place here . . ."

Diane looks around the house, commenting, “You’ve got a nice place here,” and David says he is pleased to be back in the area.

". . . are you going to stay?"

“Are you going to stay?” she goes on, looking at a photo of Sara and Ifan.

"Wales is home"

“Yes, definitely,” he answers, “Sydney is an incredible place, but Wales is home.   Help yourself to a biscuit.”   Diane did not think that Sara was his type and thinks it odd that Siôn did not say anything.

"Siôn doesn't know" — He soon will!

“Well, Siôn doesn’t know – Sara and I have decided to keep things secret, because Dylan is still such a threat.”   (Is he unaware that Dylan met his gruesome end at the hands of the late Gwyneth in the inspection pit of the garage?)

"Siôn and I haven't spoken for a long time"

“Siôn and I haven’t spoken for a long time – I went through a difficult time before going to Australia – that’s why I wanted to say how sorry I am to hear about Jason.

"I've lost a child, too"

“I’m only saying that because I’ve lost a child, too – about ten years ago – his name was Gruff.   It’s impossible to get over something like that, isn’t it?

"I bumped into Sara in Sydney"

That’s why I went to Australia, I think and I bumped into Sara in Sydney, of all places.   Things got better and then Math arrived – although it hurts that Gruff isn’t here,

"Math gives me a reason to get up in the morning"

“Math gives me a reason to get up in the morning.”

Sara gets a surprise

Then the door opens, and Sara’s voice says, “Hello, Dadi, we’re home!”   She is very surprised to see Diane there and asks David to take the baby up to bed.

"You've got the perfect set-up here"

“You’ve landed on your feet!” Diane growls, “You’ve got the perfect set-up here.”

"It's not perfect – not without Ifan here"

She is informed that it is not perfect;  “Not without Ifan here.”

Rhys is celebrating a little early

In the shop flat, Rhys is rather prematurely pouring two glasses of fizz to celebrate the sale of Tomos ac Ellis when Eleri gives him the news;

"You said you wanted to sell!"

“But you said you wanted to sell!” he exclaims.

She points out that nothing has been signed

"I have the right to change my mind"

and that she has the right to change her mind;  “Take this as a lesson on the importance of a paper trail – are you going to work for me?”

"I've given in my notice"

He makes it crystal clear that he has given in his notice;

"I could delete the e-mail"

she suggests that she can delete the e-mail.   “I asked for your help last week because you’re a good businessman.”

"I want things to change – if I stay"

“I want things to change if I stay,” he demands, “If I stay!   You start pulling your weight – I can’t do everything on my own.   You’ll have to help with the viewings, listings, admin –

"And a pay rise!"

“and a pay rise!   I’ve been covering for Kelly for weeks.”

"If you come back, it's on the same pay"

She maintains that if he comes back, it will be on the same pay, then walks out of the flat.

"I was trying to be sensitive"

As Sara brings Diane a cup of tea she explains, “I didn’t say anything about David or Math because I was trying to be sensitive.   Things have worked out for me for once – when things couldn’t have been worse for you.”

"You've been lying for my sake?"

“You’ve been lying for my sake – is that what you’re saying?” Diane replies.   Sara maintains that she did not know how to tell her.   “If you cared about my feelings, Sara, you wouldn’t be trying to steal Ifan from me.”

"He's my son, Diane!"

Sara reminds her, “He’s my son, Diane – I’m not trying to steal him from anyone.   You knew I would come back for him – of course I would!

"Jason's gone and Ifan needs his mother"

“Listen, Jason’s gone and Ifan needs his mother.”

"Kelly is his mother now!"

Diane emphasises, “Kelly is his mother now,” but of course Sara does not agree with that.   “Kelly has been there for him for three years – while you were gallivanting on the other side of the world – what sort of mother does that?”

"But I'm back now"

Sara accepts that, but points out that she is back now and is now in a much better place than she was;  “I’m settled – and David can help – Kelly hasn’t got anyone.”

Diane angrily points out that she is there for Kelly.

"You're no spring chickens"

“We need to be realistic,” Sara continues, “Down’s Syndrome is a lot for Kelly to deal with on her own.   I know you and Dai are there as support, but you’re no spring chickens.”

"Ifan's not a burden!"

Diane is outraged at the suggestion that Ifan is a burden, and Sara stresses that she is not saying that;  “Ifan is perfect, but his needs are different to other children.”

"And a stranger can deal with that?"

Diane agrees that they are and doubts that David, a stranger, can deal with them;  “I wouldn’t be with him if he couldn’t!” Sara answers, “Listen, David is such a lovely father.”

Diane growls that Jason is Ifan’s father;

"Jason's not here, is he?"

“Jason’s not here, is he?” Sara yells.

They have adjourned to the deli . . .

Clwb Awelon have now adjourned to the deli for some sustenance;

. . . where Megan is receiving special treatment

the nice young waitress brings some more cakes for Megan

"I hasn't affected your appetite"

and Dai remarks, “That knock to the head hasn’t affected your appetite, Megan.”   She maintains that it still hurts a little bit at times.

Lleucu is still trying to flog her tickets

Lleucu comes across, recommending that some R&B at her gig is what Megan needs.   Then Mark comes in, having heard that Megan was there, and hears that she is still feeling rather dizzy.

"The nurse said everything is fine"

“So you’re not getting better, then?” asks Mark, “I don’t think you need to worry because the nurse said everything is fine – that’s what she told Maya.”

"Are you accusing me of lying?"

“Are you accusing me of lying?” demands Megan

"Are you ready to go, Mrs Harries?"

and just then Maya arrives to take her home.

Off she goes

When she has been wheeled out of the door, Dai is sure that there is no need to worry about her,

"The way she was shovelling those cakes down!"

judging by the way she was shovelling those cakes down.

He is pleased to see she has left one behind

Then, noticing that she had left one behind, he quickly grabs it.

"All this is for Ifan"

Diane looks out of the window as Sara continues to emphasise that all this is for Ifan;  “Not a day goes by when I don’t feel the emptiness – when I don’t think about him – how he is, who he’s with.   That longing for your child – you know exactly what that’s like – and I’m so sorry.”

"Please don't take Ifan"

Diane turns from looking into the garden;  “That’s why I’m asking, kindly, please don’t take Ifan – not now – not while Jason . . .”

"You'll always be welcome here – and Kelly"

Sara reminds so that she is his grandmother and that she will always be welcome there – and Kelly.   “I’m not here to cut you out of his life, I promise.   I just want him home with me.”

"What if I don't agree?"

Diane asks what happens if she does not agree.   “I don’t want to take you to court, Diane, I really don’t –

"I will, if I have to!"

“but if I have to, I will – just like you would.”

"Would you like another one?"

Rhys sits miserably in the Deri with his drink;  Eleri asks if he would like another one.

"I can't afford another one on my wage"

“If it’s free – I can’t afford another one on my wage,” he moans.

She regards that as odd, because he could afford a whole business earlier;

"The meeting with the developers went very well"

as she goes behind the bar to get him another bottle, she informs him that the meeting with the developers went very well this afternoon.

"I can offer you a 7% pay rise"

“So I’ve been over the figures and I can offer you a 7% pay rise, no more.”

"Do you mean it this time?"

He asks whether she means it this time;  “Check your emails – I’ve sent a confirmation.”

"Well, do we have a deal?"

He does so and she enquires whether they have a deal.

"Yeah – go on, then"

Realising that he has little choice, he agrees.   She reiterates, “The first rule of business – always keep a paper trail.”

"You can afford it now!"

Then she hands him the bill for his drink;  “You can afford it now!”

Kelly looks anxiously at the laptop

Kelly is looking on the laptop at the list of solicitors when Diane returns, rather downhearted.

"We have to let Ifan go"

“We’ll have to let Ifan go,” she tells Kelly,

Kelly weeps

whose eyes fill with tears.
