Sioned gazes at her laptop |
Sioned is looking at her laptop where we can see that a photo of Dr Morris is displayed; her mother comes in and comments that he looks familiar.
"It's Dr Morris from the hospital" |
Sioned explains, “It’s Dr Morris from the hospital – I’m just looking at his profile and booking next month’s appointment.” Once again Eileen stresses that she is happy to pay and will go and get her card.
"He did suggest something else" |
“He did suggest that I try something else, too,” Sioned continues, “A bit of counselling.” Eileen regards this idea with distaste,
"To talk about my experiences" |
as Sioned goes on, “To talk about things – the experiences I’ve had.”
"You don't need anything like that!" |
“Don’t be soft – you don’t need anything like that!” snaps her mother,
"He's just trying to get more money out of you!" |
“He’s just trying to get some more money out of you! That’s the problem with going private.”
"Right, I'll see you later" |
DJ is coming downstairs with a basket of washing and talking on the phone; “Right, I’ll see you later this afternoon – yes, round the back – and it will be cash in hand.”
Diane lets herself in |
Diane lets herself into the house, and is rather shocked at the sight of DJ in his underpants.
"Why didn't you phone before coming over?" |
He asks why she did not phone before coming over,
"What are you doing in the kitchen in your pants?" |
but she is more interested in demanding, “What are you doing in the kitchen in your pants?”
Lleucu is supervising the removals |
Furniture moving is going on in the Deri, to make room for Lleucu’s gig; “That table will have to be moved to make room for the sound system,” she says, while Cheryl and her father do all the work.
"We're a little bit more mature than you" |
“Remember that we’re a little bit more mature than you are,” he reminds her.
"I shall be 'rapping', more than anything" |
Cheryl asks if Lleucu will be singing in this gig and she replies that she will be ‘rapping’ more than anything.
"Yes, I used to sing when I was Lleucu's age" |
Cheryl reveals that she was always very nervous before going on stage, which comes as a surprise to Cai. “Yes, I used to sing when I was Lleucu’s age,” she confirms, “Just the local Eisteddfodau and things.”
Lleucu wonders why she does not do so now;
"Some stupid man knocked my confidence" |
“Some stupid man knocked my confidence – said I was rubbish, but there’s no point dwelling.” Apparently all the tickets have been sold and Lleucu appears to be getting cold feet; she does not have her phone so that she can check whether people will be coming.
"Your new phone arrives at the weekend" |
“Your new phone arrives at the weekend,” her father informs her, but she protests that the gig will be over by then. “What do you always tell me? Chill!” Cai laughs.
"The last thing I want is you cringing me out!" |
“The last thing I want today is you cringing me out!” she reprimands him.
"Oh, hello, Gwern" |
Britt arrives back in the flat to find Gwern already there, as Colin had let him in before he went out with Kylie. Britt has been out shopping for Kylie;
"There are good sales in Carmarthen" |
“There are good sales on in Carmarthen,” she says.
"I wanted a bit of peace" |
He simply wanted to get out of the house for bit of peace, “And to say sorry for yesterday.” Auntie Britt insists that he is always welcome there
"Hot chocolate with all the trimmings?" |
and enquires whether he would like a hot chocolate with all the trimmings.
"Go on, then, if you're making it" |
“Oh, go on then, if you’re making it,” he says.
She will go and get some marshmallows,
"You're going to have to work for it, good boy!" |
“And then you can help me in MFC – you’re going to have to work for that hot chocolate, good boy!” She tosses an MFC uniform at him.
Diane is sorting through clothes |
DJ comes downstairs, fully clothed this time, to find Diane sorting through some clothes;
"I know you've got a spare key, but . . .~" |
“Listen, Diane, I know you’ve got a spare key, but can you let me know before you come over? I live here now, don’t I?”
"It won't happen again" |
She replies that it will not happen again, and remarks on the fact that he looks smart.
"Sioned's coming over with something" |
This is because Sioned is coming over with something. “I won't be long here – I just wanted to fetch Ifan something,” Diane sighs,
"Ifan's going to be living with Sara now" |
“He’s going to be living with Sara now – I wanted to give him something of Jason’s to take with him.”
"There's no further news" |
She advises that there is no further news about Jason; “I spoke to the police earlier – they’ve been through all the CCTV and there is nothing on it.”
"Looks as if it was a burglary" |
DJ asks what is the latest about the money from APD, and she replies that it looks as if it was a burglary. “The code had been written down next to the safe, hadn’t it? It could have been anyone.”
"I'd like to say goodbye properly" |
“I’ve been thinking as I’ve been going through Jason’s stuff – I’d like to say goodbye, properly – go down to the river where he disappeared and leave something, just the family.
"Will you come and say goodbye?" |
“I’ll be asking Kelly this afternoon – will you come to say goodbye?”
"Of course I will, Diane" |
DJ agrees that of course he will.
"What's going in here?" |
When Ffion comes into the Deri, she asks what is going on with all the furniture moving; “Lleucu’s gig tonight – you’ve got a ticket, haven’t you?” replies Cheryl.
"Hasn't it been cancelled?" |
“Hasn’t it been cancelled?” says Ffion, “I’ve come to get a refund – it’s all over your Insta!” Lleucu says that she has not posted anything – in fact she cannot, as she has lost her phone.
Lleucu looks at the evidence |
Ffion gets out her phone to show Lleucu, who exclaims, “I wouldn’t cancel my own gig –
"I've been hacked!" |
“I’ve been hacked!” Ffion cannot understand why anyone would do something so horrible and Lleucu picks up her coat and rushes out of the Deri,
She snatches Cai's phone on her way out |
grabbing her father’s phone on the way.
"No-one wants to go to her stupid gig anyway!" |
Meanwhile, Arwen, with two of her friends, is just walking into MFC; looking at Lleucu’s phone, Arwen sneers, “No-one wants to go to her stupid gig anyway!”
Then she sees Gwern |
Then she looks up to see Gwern on duty there
"Actually, I don't want anything to eat" |
and remarks, “Actually, I don’t want anything to eat – come on, let’s go.”
She beats a hasty retreat |
They quickly walk out again, as Gwern watches them go.
"Are you OK, Gwern?" |
When Britt asks if he is OK, he wants to know what he is required to do next. “Perhaps you should phone Dani to tell her you’re here,” Britt suggests.
"I am 15!" Should he not be at school, then? |
He angrily points out that he is 15, but Britt maintains that Dani may be worried about him.
“That’s not my problem,” he grumbles,
"Why are you trying to get rid of me?" |
“Don’t you want me here? Why are you trying to get rid of me? Why did you ask me to come here?”
"You're family, Gwern!" |
When she insists that he is family, he queries this;
"Am I? Or is Kylie your family?" |
“Am I – or is Kylie your family? You don’t want me any more!” She shouts that because Kylie is there does not mean . . . but he is already on his way out of the shop,
Britt prevents him from leaving |
so she seizes his arm.
"Do you want to stay with us?" |
“Gwern, do you want to stay with us?”
"Are you serious?" |
He wants to know if she is serious.
DJ is stuffing a brown envelope |
DJ is stuffing a lot of cash into a brown envelope when there is a knock the door;
"I'm tired and starving all the time" |
it is Sioned and he welcomes her in, asking if everything is all right with her. “Yes, just tired and starving all the time,” she answers.
"I'm living here, while Jason's . . ." |
He confirms that he is living that now; “You know, while Jason’s . . .”
"Perhaps this will cheer you up" |
“Perhaps this will cheer you up,” she says, handing him the photo of the scan;
"Dad meant the world to me" |
“Listen, Dad meant the world to me – I want these to have the same.”
Ffion is not looking 100% |
Ffion looks rather under the weather as she sits at the bar in the Deri; she asks Cheryl for a glass of water. “I’ve got a bit of a headache.” Cheryl comments that she must be glad it is almost the school holidays.
"Nearly my time of the month" |
“And it’s nearly my time of the month as well,” Ffion moans
"I can't find any sign of her" |
Cai comes in, reporting that he can find no sign of Lleucu; “She looked so gutted,” says Cheryl and he says that she has talked about nothing else but that gig for days.
"She'll be all right" |
Ffion is confident that Lleucu will be all right, but that is not much consolation for her father,
"I just wanted this to be successful for her" |
who just wanted this to be successful for her – to give her a bit of a boost. He wonders where she is.
"I'm glad your Mam is paying . . ." |
DJ makes Sioned a cup of tea and is very grateful to her mother for paying for the scans,
". . . but I want to make sure to pay my share" |
“But I want to make sure that I pay my share,” he says.
"It's over £300 a time" |
points out that they are expensive – over £300 a time.
"My premium bonds have come up" |
He insists, “I want to – don’t tell anyone, but my Premium Bonds have come up, so I’m all right for money.” Sioned is very grateful to him and, as he looks at the scan,
"Sure you don't want to find out the sex?" |
he asks if she is sure she does not want to find out the sex of twins.
“No, as long as they’re healthy, we’ll see what comes,” she replies, “The doctor said the same thing, but I said no.
"He's lovely, you know" |
“He’s lovely, you know.” DJ would like to come with her next time, as he has not heard their heartbeats for while;
She is not keen on that idea |
she obviously does not relish the thought, but he receives a phone message at that moment.
"I've got a new business idea . . ." |
“Oh, he must be here – I’ve got a new business idea –
". . . do you want to see it?" |
“do you want to see it?” says DJ, picking up the envelope full of money
Cheryl emerges from the shop |
Cheryl comes out of the shop and discovers that Lleucu is sitting on the bench by the alley;
Her father was not looking very hard for Lleucu |
“Your father is worried about you,” she says, “Come on, we’ll organise another gig.”
"I can't contact the sound system bloke" |
Lleucu has been trying to contact the sound system bloke and tell him not to bother, but has had no luck so far.
Cheryl has an idea; “Why don’t you do the gig anyway?”
"No-one will turn up" |
Lleucu is convinced that no one will turn up,
"Some loser who's trying to bring you down" |
but Cheryl goes on, “All I’m saying is, why stop performing because of some loser who’s trying to bring you down?
"Trust me – it's their problem!" |
“Trust me – it’s their problem! You shouldn’t let it spoil things for you – that's the mistake I made.”
This changes Lleucu's mind |
Lleucu thinks that she may be right.
"You're not serious?" |
When Sioned sees this new venture which DJ is proposing, she looks seriously unimpressed; “You’re not serious?”
"I'm turning it into a 'food truck'" |
He proposes turning the disreputable horsebox into a ‘food truck’; “Like those snazzy ones that sell Mexican food.”
"Look at the state of it!" |
Sioned calls his attention to the state of it
DJ has high ambitions |
and he maintains that all it needs is a jet wash, a coat of paint and new tyres; then it will be as good as new, with a few fairy lights here and there.
"I'm going to call it 'Flamingo'!" |
She still looks repulsed by the whole idea as he announces what he is going to call it; “Flamingo! Because they live in Mexico – I have Googled it – we could wear pink hats and pink shirts – I really think this is going to work!”
Sioned tries to restrain her laughter |
Sioned regards it as more of a joke; he insists that he is doing it for her and the children, so would appreciate it if she supported him.
"How much did you pay for this?"| |
“I am supporting you, honestly – how much did you pay for this?”
"£1,000" |
When he reveals that he paid £1,000,
"For this?" |
she shouts, “For this?”
Arwen comes to look at the results of her plan |
The chairs and tables are being returned to their places in the Deri when Arwen and her sidekicks arrive; they are asked if they are there for the gig, so are informed that it has been cancelled.
"We haven't seen anything, have we?" |
Arwen feigns surprise; “No way! We haven’t seen anything about it, have we?”
"Someone sabotaged it!" |
Cheryl informs her that someone sabotaged it; “Who would do such a thing?” Arwen asks, as innocently as possible.
"Some little toe-rag who wants to spoil things!" |
“Some little toe-rag who wants to spoil things for everyone!” Cheryl snarls, “Were you looking forward to it? I feel so sorry for Lleucu.”
“Yes, poor thing,” says Arwen, then hears music playing outside;
"What's that?" |
“What’s that?” She goes to investigate, followed by her mates.
"I'm just popping out for a minute" |
Cheryl tells Geraint she is popping out for a moment to see what the noise is.
Lleucu is performing |
Other people are congregating and hear Lleucu ‘rapping’,
. . . and has attracted a crowd |
♫“Who’s calling?
There’s no calling them back – my phone’s dead.
Longtime experiences are clear to the heart;
Situations have forced me to raise the standard –
who’s calling? I had three missed calls from her,
I’m in the stu, Dom’s with me, my phone’s dead,
I’m drunk – what do I do?”♫
Arwen is displeased |
Arwen is very disappointed that her prank has misfired
Not Eileen's 'cup of tea' |
and it is quite evident that Eileen dislikes this sort of ‘music’.
"She has done well" |
Across the road by the deli, Ffion is very complimentary that Lleucu has reorganised things so quickly. Cai says that it was a good idea to have it outside as more people are turning up.
Arwen is not at all happy |
At the end of the performance, everyone watching is applauding, except for Arwen and her friends.
"I don't want to hog the mike all to myself . . ." |
Lleucu introduces herself, “I’m Lleucu Rossiter and I wanted to have a little gig as it’s end of term – but I don’t want to hog the mike all to myself,
". . . when there's a lot of talent here" |
“especially when I know there’s a lot of talent here – isn’t there, Cheryl?”
She is initially hesitant and Ffion wonders if she can sing;
"We'll find out now" |
“We’ll find out now,” Cai replies.
"I haven't done this for a while" |
“I haven’t done this for a while, but I’ll sing ‘Harbwr Diogel’ [Safe Harbour],” says Cheryl.
Sioned looks adoringly at her phone |
Sioned is looking at Dan Morris on her phone as she lies on the sofa at Penrhewl;
. . . and is now becoming infatuated |
it is obvious that she is becoming besotted with him. Her mother comes in, complaining about the noise in the village;
"Cai's daughter yelling into a microphone" |
“Cai’s daughter yelling very quickly into a microphone! Have you had a nice afternoon?”
"DJ's starting a new business" |
“Yes, I went over to see DJ and gave him a picture of the scan,” says Sioned, “He’s starting a new business, something to do with catering. He’s bought a horse box and he’s going to do it up.”
"You and the children need his money now!" |
Eileen immediately demands where he got the money; “I thought he was skint – you and the children need his money now.”
"He's going to pay for half the scans" |
Sioned stops her there, pointing out that he is going to pay for half the scans; “Anyway, it’s none of our business where he gets his money from.”
She resumes gazing at the screen |
She resumes looking admiringly at the photographs on the phone.
Arwen wonders how things went wrong |
Out in the street, Arwen is, rather unwisely, looking at Lleucu’s phone in full view of other people,
Cheryl is singing |
while Cheryl sings,
♫“There’s something about you that I just can’t explain –
Lleucu is very pleased . . . |
“something about you that makes my heart beat.”♫
. . .and goes over to join her father |
Lleucu goes over to join her father, who puts his arm on her shoulder; when she objects to this, he tells her, “Hey, chill, Lleucs! I’m very proud of you – do you know that?”
The headmistress does not miss very much |
Arwen is looking with a puzzled expression at the phone; “I don’t understand – I changed it to say it had been cancelled.”
"Give me Lleucu's phone right now!" |
Ffion’s eagle eye has not missed this and comes across; “Give me Lleucu’s phone right now!” she snarls,
"You're grounded – right?" |
“You’re grounded – right?”
Cheryl receives a rapturous reception |
The assembled multitude applaud Cheryl.
There is a noise in the kitchen . . . |
DJ comes back into Bryntirion, looking very pleased with himself and then is concerned to hear a noise in the kitchen,
. . . so DJ picks up a handy weapon |
so arms himself with a plastic cricket bat, presumably left behind by Ifan.
It is only Diane . . . |
He discovers that it is Diane once again and rants, “I thought I told you not to come over without checking first!”
. . . who is looking for one of Jason's bracelets |
She is simply looking for one of Jason’s bracelets, but DJ is very anxious about where she is standing, in front of the former fireplace, where a large pile of logs are stacked.
She demands where is his respect,
"Where's your respect for my privacy?" |
so he in turn growls, “Where’s your respect for my privacy? Sorry, Diane, but I have to put my foot down – I told you not come here without asking first.”
"I don't want to fall out with you as well" |
She does not want to fall out with him as well; “I’ve just seen Kelly and she doesn’t want to come with us next week.”
DJ promises that he will be there,
"As long as you stop coming here without asking" |
“As long as you promise to stop coming here without asking.” She tells him to let her know if he finds one of Jasons string bracelets
"I hope things went well with Sioned" |
and hopes that things went well with Sioned.
On top of those logs is a plastic bag . . . |
When she is safely out of the way, he reaches in at the top of the pile of logs,
. . . with a large amount of cash |
where he extricates a green plastic bag, containing a great deal of cash, very similar to that which was stolen from the safe at APD. He looks apprehensive.
