Tegwen escapes from the stage |
As Howard shouts at her, Tegwen immediately leaves the stage and he attempts to follow her,
A bouncer blocks their progress |
but his progress is blocked by a bouncer. Howard insists, “That’s my sister!” and Mathew adds that they just want to talk to her.
The bouncer sternly warns them, in English, “Step back – or you’re out!”
"Did you know she was doing this now?" |
Rhys simply laughs, “Math – did you know she was doing this now? Stripper!”
Llinos has collected her drink |
In the Deri, Llinos has just been served with her drink when Brynmor comes downstairs
"A bit of fresh air will do you good" |
and advises Cassie that he is going out for a walk. She diagnoses that a bit of fresh air will do him the world of good.
"I'm just missing Kath so much" |
“I’m just missing Kath so much,” he laments, so is advised to go and see her.
"I don't think Eleri would like that" |
“I don’t think Eleri would want me to tell her,” he says; Cassie demands who is the boss around there – him or Eleri?
"Go and see her – or you'll regret it!" |
She instructs him to go and see Kath – or he will regret it.
Dani has been doing some garment repairs |
At that moment Dani comes in with the a dress that she has been repairing for Cassie, who admits that she is useless at sewing and always has been;
"My grandmother was ashamed of me" |
she recalls that her grandmother was ashamed of her. “If you need anything else done, give me a shout,” says Dani, “The cash is handy,” and she is offered a drink on the house.
"I have to get back to Jinx and the kids" |
“I’d better not – I have to get back to Jinx and the kids,” she replies. Cassie tells her that if she has a free night any time . . .
"That's getting less and less likely every day!" |
Dani exclaims, “That’s getting less and less likely every day!”
Gaynor is chilling out . . . |
Gaynor is watching television and stuffing herself with a large packet of crisps when there is an unexpected knock at the door.
. . . when Tom visits again |
he discovers that it is Tom once again, with another bunch of flowers. He apologises for intruding, but finished his meeting early and thought that she might like some company.
"Sorry – the place is in rather a mess" |
She apologises that the place is in rather a mess – and so is she, as she was not expecting company.
"You look a picture" |
He tells her that she looks a picture and hands over the flowers, which Gaynor says are lovely.
She regrets that she does not have much to make dinner,
"I've brought enough food for two" |
but Tom is prepared for this as he has brought enough food for two.
"Full of surprises, aren't you?" |
She declares that he is full of surprises and he heads straight to the kitchen.
They look rather subdued |
At the strip club, the party are sitting despondently
"Tegwen doesn't want to see us" |
when Mathew returns to inform them that Tegwen does not want to see them. Howard threatens that he will go and sort the bouncer out, but is dissuaded from so doing.
"When was the last time you saw her, Howard" |
“When was the last time you saw her?” Mathew asks and he replies that he has not seen her since she left Cwmderi; he does not know how long she has been working there.
Mathew is adamant that they cannot leave until they know she is all right, then searches for his phone, which he left on the table.
"I thought everything was about Ffion these days!" |
“I’m surprised you’re concerned,” comments Rhys, cynically, “I thought everything was about Ffion these days.”
"At least I get paid for being here" |
Then Tegwen appears, back to her normal self, and once again Howard asks her what she is doing there; “At least I get paid the being here – what are you doing here?” she answers.
"You're disgusting!" |
“You’re disgusting!” he snarls,
"Says the man who trained dogs to fight!" |
so she reminds him that he was training dogs to fight. “You’ve got a child!” he goes on
"That's the reason I work" |
and she tells him that is the reason why she works.
Mathew is concerned about her and Ken and whether they are OK; “Yes, we’re doing great, thanks. I know this has come as a shock to you, but I really enjoy it.”
"What are those bruises on your arm" |
He notices bruises on her arm and she informs him that is none of his business.
"Îs Ioan forcing you to work here" |
“Is Ioan forcing you to work here?” he demands and Tegwen denies it,
"I'm the happiest I ever has been" |
pointing out that the only thing he needs to know is that she is the happiest she has ever been.
"Can we forget we saw each other?" |
“So can we please just forget we saw each other tonight?”
She turns and walks away |
With this, she turns and walks away, with both Howard and Mathew following.
"It's time for you to leave!" |
This time the bouncer considers that it is time for them to leave; Griffiths pipes up, “Can’t I stay– I’m a member – don’t you remember me?
"Mimi!" |
“Well, ask Mimi!”
Brynmor comes in the back door |
Brynmor comes in through the back door of Maes-y-Deri, where Mark has carelessly left a bottle of milk out of the fridge. He calls for Kath but is told by Mark that she is not there. When asked if he knows where she is,
"Perhaps I do and perhaps I don't" |
he enigmatically replies, “Perhaps I do and perhaps I don’t.”
"We're supposed to be family" |
“Don’t play games now, Mark, we’re supposed to be family,” Brynmor groans.
"I thought families were supposed to be honest with each other" |
“Oh, are we? I thought families were supposed to be honest with each other – not hiding how much money you’ve given your daughter, while some of us can’t afford a new pair of pants.”
"I've been very generous to you" |
Brynmor remind Mark that he has been very generous to him, but it is pointed out that it is not about the money. His response is to reach for his wallet;
"You want more money, do you?" |
“You want more money, do you? Would that make you happy?”
"I just want you to be fair with Mam" |
“I just want you to be fair with Mam!” emphasises Mark, but Brynmor simply puts down £100 on the table,
"Enough to buy a shop full of pants" |
which he describes as enough to buy a shop full of clean pants.
"Right, so where's your Mam?" |
Now he wants to know where Kath is.
"No idea – haven't seen her all day" |
“I have no idea – I haven’t seen her all day,” which is not what Brynmor wanted to hear.
We catch a rare glimpse of Gabriel and Seren |
At number 9, Dani appears to be having trouble with the children when someone arrives at the door.
Cassie has brought more sewing . . . |
It is Cassie, who has brought some more sewing for her to do, plus she has brought a couple of bottles.
. . . and a couple of bottles |
“As you couldn’t have a drink with me, I’ve brought you a drink.”
"I got fed up with people telling me what to do" |
As they eat the dinner which Tom has prepared, Gaynor asks how long he has been running his own business. “A few years – I got fed up with people telling me what to do – I’ve never been one who likes authority.”
Gaynor imagines that he was a naughty boy at school;
"You wouldn't have liked me as a pupil!" |
“You wouldn’t have liked me as a pupil!” he informs her. He does not strike her as the type to cause trouble, and he says that he is more sensible now.
"I hope you're not too sensible" |
She hopes that he is not too sensible. He thinks that she must have been a perfect pupil; she maintains that she never put a step out place and actually liked school. “I’ve spent most of my life there, one way or another –
"I do regret not leaving earlier" |
“but I do regret not leaving earlier and trying something different.”
"What would you like to do?" |
Tom gets up to fetch some more wine; he asks what she would like to do.
"I would like to have done nothing" |
“To be completely honest, I would like to have done nothing. I was always very jealous of Izzy, my daughter – when she went off travelling all the time. I think I would have enjoyed doing something like that –
"Earn a bit of money and then move on" |
“have a job, earn a bit of money and then move on to wherever.”
"Well, you have the time now, Gaynor" |
He points out that now she has the time
"We could go somewhere together" |
and she suggests that they could go somewhere together.
Brynmor has found Kath at last |
Brynmor finally tracks down Kath to the Deri
"Can we talk – upstairs?" |
and would like to talk, upstairs; as she is about to go up there, the boys return.
"I thought you were having a big night tonight" |
“Good heavens, I thought you were having a big night tonight,” she remarks.
“Whose fault was that, Math?” Rhys snarls
"You were the one hassling the 'talent'!" |
and DJ adds that he was the one hassling ‘the talent’. Howard objects to her being called ‘talent’. When Kath wants to know what happened,
"What happened in Swansea stays in Swansea" |
Griffiths insists that what happened in Swansea stays in Swansea.
“Get me a pint, will you? I want to forget what I saw tonight,” says Howard.
"Do you have any way of contacting Tegwen?" |
Mathew demands whether he has any way of contacting Tegwen, suspecting that Ioan is forcing her to do that stuff – or even worse.
"I don't want to think about it" |
When Howard does not want to think about it, he is forcibly told, “Well, you need to – she’s your sister!”
"Ride in on a white horse to save her?" |
Rhys demands what he is going to do; “Ride in on a white horse to save her?
"I should have told you from the start" |
Upstairs in the Deri flat, Brynmor says, “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you about the money I gave to Eleri – I should have told you from the start.”
"Yes, you should" |
Kath agrees that he should. “I’m just trying to make up the years I wasn’t there for her.”
"Don't you trust me or something?" |
“Oh, please change the record, will you?” sighs Kath. “What about me, then? And why hide it? Don’t you trust me or what?”
"Of course I trust you! |
He replies that of course he trusts her.
"I'm not sure I trust you any more, good boy!" |
“But I’m not sure I trust you any more,” she tells him, “I’ve been thinking Eleri was in the wrong – but it’s time you took some responsibility, good boy!” Brynmor looks rather stunned by this.
"The children are having fun" |
At number 9, Cassie tells Dani that it sounds as if the children are having fun upstairs.
"I'm not too sure about Jinx" |
Dani replies that the children definitely are – she is not so sure about Jinx.
"Are you enjoying The Pizza Place?" |
“Are you still enjoying the shifts at The Pizza Place?” Cassie enquires.
"It's not what I've always wanted to do" |
Dani is not going to pretend it is what she has always wanted to do, but it is all right for now.
"What happened to that Criminology Course?" |
The next question is, “What happened to that criminology course?”
"I never finished it" |
and Dani explains that she never finished it and that life gets in the way.
“But cooking pizzas and doing some sewing is all right.” Cassie does not like to see a bright woman’s talent going to waste. “Well, that ‘bright woman’ doesn’t have the money or the time to play ‘Legally Blonde’,” is Dani’s reply.
"Gwern's coming home at the end of the month" |
Then she announces, “Gwern’s coming home at the end of the month – so I think I’ll have a lot on my plate by then.”
"I haven't heard from him for a while" |
Cassie has not heard anything from him for a while.
"I'm worried about how he'll be" |
“I’m a bit worried, you know, about how he’ll be when he gets out.”
"An experience like that can change someone" |
Cassie appreciates that an experience like that can change someone; “Yes – but for better or worse?” wonders Dani.
"A unicorn and a hedgehog going tot the cinema?" |
Jinx comes downstairs looking puzzled; “Seren wants the story about a unicorn and a hedgehog going to the cinema – where is it?”
"I made it up, Jinx" |
Dani proudly announces that she made up the story.
"I thought you were a creative man, Jinx" |
Cassie had been under the impression that Jinx was a creative man, so he returns upstairs to invent a suitable story.
"It's been lovely reconnecting with Cheryl" |
At Llwyncelyn, Gaynor says that it has been lovely reconnecting with her sister Cheryl;
"I don't have much family left" |
“After losing Izzy and with Lois in Thailand, I don’t have much family left.”
"You can have some of mine!" |
Tom invites her to have some of his; “There are too many of them.” Gaynor would like to hear more, so he goes on, “Well, I’m one of three, Mam is one of nine, Dad is one of six.
"Grandfather was a professional boxer" |
“Dad brewed beer and my grandfather was a professional boxer.”
In response to her question, he says that he did a little bit of boxing, but not for some time.
"Can you show me how to do it?" |
She would like to be shown how to do it; “I’ve always wanted to learn – it’s important to be able to defend yourself.”
He laughs that she will not defend anyone with those fists;
"Hands up in front of your face" |
“Hands up in front of your face – now hit me!”
Gaynor throws a few punches |
Gaynor is getting into the swing of this and he promises to show her a few real moves,
"When we're sober" |
“When we’re sober.”
He looks at his watch and decides that it is time to go,
"Can't you stay?" |
but Gaynor is anxious for him to stay. He agrees that he will;
"I'll sleep on the sofa" |
“I’ll sleep on the sofa,”
Not what Gaynor had in mind |
which she finds rather disappointing.
"It's the fact you don't trust me!" |
Back in the Deri flat, Kath continues, “It’s not the money that worries me, but the fact you don’t trust me.” He insists that he does trust her,
"You throw money at Eleri!" |
“But not enough to tell me the truth!” she adds, “You trust Eleri 100% – you throw money at Eleri!”
"No, I do not!" |
Brynmor maintains that he is not throwing money at her,
"Don't you think she's taking advantage?" |
but Kath demands, “Don’t you think she’s taking advantage? Just a little bit?”
He imagines that is possible, but he does not know;
"I just want to give her a chance" |
“I just want to give her a chance. Kath, I appreciate you’re looking out for me, honestly – and I do understand why you have your doubts about Eleri.
"She turned our lives upside down" |
“She came out of nowhere and turned our lives upside down – but she’s my child, so please, Kath, I can’t have the two of you falling out all the time – it makes life difficult for everyone!”
Kath wholeheartedly agrees with that and once more he begs her to come home.
"It's as if she's disappeared off the face of the earth" |
In the shop flat, Mathew is trying everything he can think of to find Tegwen; “It’s as if she’s disappeared off the face of the earth!” he growls,
"No Facebook, no Instagram" |
“There’s no Facebook, no Instagram, no address – nothing!”
Rhys raises the possibility that she enjoys working as a stripper. Mathew does not think that is the case and is also worried about Ken.
"When you're obsessed with Ffion!" |
“Why are you doing this, Math?” Rhys demands, “Pretending you care about Tegwen when you’re obsessed with Ffion?” Mathew sighs that there is nothing going on between him and Ffion.
"Do you think I'm an idiot?" |
“Oh yeah – and you were upstairs in Deri Fawr to see what work needed doing?” Rhys sneers, “Do you think I’m an idiot?”
Mathew replies, “That doesn’t mean I can’t worry about Tegwen.”
Rhys snarls, “I saw you kissing outside Cysgod y Glyn!”
"Can't you two shut up?" |
Howard, who is trying to sleep on the sofa, tells them to shut up.
"I'm leaving – I can't look at him!" |
“It’s all right, Howard – I’m leaving – I can’t look at him!” Rhys answers.
Mathew asks to borrow Howard’s phone; “I need to phone the club –
"I can't se mine because I don't know where it is" |
“I can’t use mine because I don’t know where it is.”
"I do appreciate you coming back" |
Brynmor has poured out two glasses of wine; he assures Kath that he appreciates her coming back.
She has a stipulation . . . |
She stipulates, “And you promise me that any big financial decision – we’ll make it together, right?”
. . .and Brynmor agrees |
He does indeed promise, as she goes on, “Just like married partners are supposed to do.”
Again he says he is sorry, but Kath only wants to make sure that nobody takes advantage of him – not again.
"Are you feeling peckish?" |
Now she is feeling peckish and wonders if there are any crackers there.
A message which he does not want Kath to see |
Meanwhile, Brynmor’s phone sounds and he finds a message from Eleri; ‘Thanks for everything. Almost finished my second week as boss of T+E. PS – Don’t let Kath give you a hard time’.
He looks across rather guiltily at Kath and replaces the phone in his pocket.
"We shall have to do this again" |
Dani thanks Cassie for coming over; they agree that they should do it again. “Once Jinx gets over his bedtime trauma,” adds Dani.
"Sometimes you have to put yourself first" |
Cassie reminds her that she has to put herself first sometimes in this old world.
"Nice talking to someone with a different perspective" |
Jinx has just come downstairs after getting the children to sleep and Dani tells him that it was nice talking to someone different with a different perspective.
“Cassie’s trying to persuade me to go for a more ambitious job,” she continues;
"What's wrong with working at The Pizza Place?" |
he enquires what is wrong with working in The Pizza Place, stressing that they are launching a new menu next week.
He now no longer wants to watch that film tonight, arguing that making up stories is such hard work;
Off he goes for an early night |
he wishes her good night.
Tom kisses Gaynor . . . |
Gaynor brings downstairs the necessary bedding for Tom on the sofa, then tells him, “I’m going to bed.” He kisses her and wishes her good night.
. . . who is still disappointed |
She rather disappointedly turns and goes upstairs.
Someone has let themself into APD |
In the darkness of APD someone enters,
Still haven't got rid of that garden gnome |
shining a torch around,
They know the combination of the safe . . . |
taps in the correct code on the safe
. . . and proceed to empty it of cash |
and sets about removing the cash which it contains.
