"I need some Sellotape"

Kelly has been out, but comes back to number 7 and informs Griffiths that she needs Sellotape, as someone has torn down one of the posters.   

"There are plenty more of them"

He protests that there are plenty more, but she argues, “What if this is the one somebody sees and it jogs their memory?”

Kelly barges into the house

He is about to go inside and get some, when Kelly notices someone coming and pushes past him to get into the house;  

"You haven't seen me or Ifan –OK?"

“You haven’t seen me or Ifan – OK?”   She slams the door, leaving him outside.

"Neither Kelly or Ifan are there"

It is Sara who is approaching and he tells her that neither Kelly or Ifan are there.  

"What are you – their bodyguard?"

“What are you, then – their bodyguard?” she demands, then notices the logo on his fleece.   “Since when do you work at APD?” she demands.

"I'm helping out while Anita's away"

He replies that he is helping out while Anita is away, 

"Where's Anita gone?"

so she wants to know where Anita has gone.   

"Goodbye, Sara"

Ieuan has had enough of this and wishes her goodbye.

"He won't listen to me"

As they come out of the Deri, Kath remarks to Cassie, “You know how he feels about Eleri – he won’t listen to me – he believes every word she says.”

"Do you want me to have a word with him?"

Cassie enquires whether she should have a word with him, but Kath says that she will have a chat with him  when he returns from the car auction.

Megan approaches

Megan has just come out of her shop and walks towards them;  

"Are you coming to the film session?"

Kath asks if she will be coming to the film session with Dai on Friday.   Cassie explains that it is a film about views in Wales, which he put on the WhatsApp group last night.   

"I'm not in any WhatsApp group"

“I’m not in any WhatsApp group,” she replies, so Cassie will talk to him.

"I have to be in the office"

Hywel is at last in the process of moving out of Llwyncelyn, but Rhys protests that he has to be in the office.   Hywel complains that if he had come over last night to help, there would be this problem.   “I’ll sort it out later,” says Rhys, as he leaves.

"I don't want to live in a store-room"

Gaynor is angry, insisting that she wants everything out;  “I don’t want to live in a store-room.”   Then there is an unexpected knock at the door which they presume is the man with the van.   Hywel is hopeful that then he will actually get some help.

"I recognise that voice!"

In fact it is Tom who is calling, much to Gaynor’s surprise;  

"Bad timing?"

“Bad timing?” he asks, but she replies that it is nice to see him.   He apologises for not getting in touch sooner, 

"I thought I'd come and say hello"

but he had a last-minute meeting in Llanelli and thought he would come and say hello.

"Can I put these up, Ger?"

Kelly arrives at the Deri and asks to put up some of her posters in the toilets as a couple have been ripped down;  “I just want to refresh people’s memories,” she tells Geraint.

“Yeah, sure,” he answers, then Kelly notices Eleri, who is becoming very frustrated with the website of Tomos ac Ellis.

"This flipping website!"

“This flipping website is refusing to accept a new listing!” she moans, 

Kelly puts her right

so Kelly points out where it says ‘adopt changes’ and explains that you have to press that before ‘publish’ – 

"Otherwise it refuses to do anything"

Eleri describes it as a stupid system;  Kelly remarks that there are loads of quirks, “But you’ll get used to it.”

"I'm not working at the moment"

Then Eleri wants to know how she adds another listing, so Kelly points out that she is not working at the moment;  “No, but I would appreciate an explanation of these quirks,” says Eleri.

"I think we need to have a chat about work"

“The thing is – I actually think we need to have a chat about work,” Kelly tells her, and Eleri appears for once to be receptive.

"Ffion Llywelyn?"

At school, Ffion is working in her office when there is a knock at the door;  she is amazed to see that it is Dafydd Iwan Jones [born 24 August 1943, a Welsh singer and nationalist politician who rose to fame writing and performing folk music in the Welsh language].

"I'm here to sing for year 11"

He announces that he is there to sing for year 11, 

"Year 11 have left"

which she finds rather puzzling as year 11 have left.   

"Head of the Irish department, Emma O'Heed"

He takes out his phone to confirm what the e-mail says;  “A gig for year 11, from the head of the Irish department, Emma O’Heed.”

"We don't have an Irish department"

Ffion replies that they do not have an Irish department 

Ffion has a suspicion

and has a fairly good idea of who may have been playing tricks on her.

"That's awful"

Kelly has explained the situation to Eleri;  “So the police think he has . . ?”   The police cannot confirm anything until they find a body and Eleri agrees that it is awful.

"This is too much, sorry"

“Just balancing everything – the grief, dealing with Ifan’s mother who has just turned up out of the blue and coming back to work, this is too much, sorry!” Kelly sighs.

Uncharacteristically, Eleri answers, “Don’t worry about work – just take the time you need,” and Kelly is very grateful for her attitude.

Rhys comes to complain

At that moment Rhys comes in, complaining, “I’ve got three viewings, back to back, and there’s no-one in the office to answer the phone!   Mrs Jenkins is collecting the keys.”

"Where were you earlier?"

Eleri’s response is to demand, “Talking of answering phones, where were you earlier?   You were meant to be in the office!”   

"I popped out for five minutes"

He explains that he popped out for five minutes, but she points out that he was gone at least ten.

"You need to pull your socks up!"

“You need to pull your socks up, especially as you’re going to be covering for Kelly,” is the next instruction, which he regards as not fair.   Kelly is looking very apologetic as Eleri snaps, “I thought you had viewings to do!” so he sadly walks out.

Megan comes from the pharmacy . . .

Megan crosses the road from MFC to where someone is waiting outside her shop;  

. . . where someone is waiting for her

“Mrs Hutchings,” she says, “I’m sorry to keep you – I had to get my prescription – 

"I'm reopening now"

“I’m reopening now.”

"I'm so sorry!"

Ffion comes into her office, apologising once more to Dafydd Iwan;  “I don’t know how or who – but I will find out for you.”   

"It's quite funny – Emma O'Heed"

He confesses that it is quite funny, using the name ‘Emma O’Heed’.  [‘Yma o Hyd’, or in English, ‘Still Here’, is a Welsh language folk song by Dafydd Iwan himself]

Ffion agrees that it is obvious when you say it out loud, but when you see it written down . . . she offers him another cup of tea, but he thinks that he had better return to North Wales.   

"You haven't come all this way specially?"

Ffion is anxious that he has not come all this way specially, and he assures her that he had a meeting in Carmarthen last night.

"I insist – and I'm paying"

She offers to find him somewhere to stay tonight;  “I insist – and I’m paying, to apologise for this mess!”   She appears to be rather over-awed to be in the presence of such a man.

Griffiths is eating his lunch 

Griffiths is eating his lunch in the Deri when Sara joins him;  “You and Anita – who would have thought it?”   

"Are you jealous or something?"

He assumes that she has been gossiping and she continues, “How long have you been an item?”   Ieuan wonders if she is jealous or something.

"Does she know about our antics?"

Her next question, “Does she know about our antics?” causes him to ask what it is she wants.   “I want to see Ifan,” she says 

"It's nothing to do with me"

and he is adamant that it is nothing to do with him.   

"But you live with him and Kelly at the moment"

“But you live with him and Kelly at the moment,” she reminds him.

“Listen, this is between you, Kelly and Diane, right?” he emphasises.

"I haven't come to stir things up"

Once again she maintains that she has not come to stir things up;  “The last few years without Ifan – well, you understand – 

"When was the last time you saw the girls?"

“when was the last time you saw the girls?” she asks, 

"I though you decided to leave"

but he was under the impression that Sara decided to leave.   

“I had to leave!” she exclaims, “It was the most difficult decision of my life – I had to keep Ifan safe!”

"You need to discuss it with Kelly"

“Well, Kelly has been raising Ifan since you left – you need to discuss this with her,” Ieuan insists, but Sara stresses that Kelly will not speak to her.

"Please, Ieuan!"

“Please, Ieuan – if you knew one of the girls was just down the road and this awful thing had happened to her, you’d do anything to see her, wouldn’t you?   Please.”   

"Sorry, Sara"

He says that he is sorry and leaves the Deri.

Ffion and Dafydd are at the bar

Meanwhile Ffion is at the bar with Dafydd Iwan;  

"We don't run a B&B any more"

Kath informs her that they do not run a B&B any more, but Cassie is quick to countermand this.   

"Yes, we do – it's for VIPs"

“Yes, we do – we have one room – we don’t advertise, it’s only for VIPs.   Follow me, Dafydd, I’ll show you the room.”

"What's wrong with you, Kath?"

She turns to Kath;  “What’s wrong with you?   That’s Dafydd Iwan!”   

"I'm not giving up my bed!"

Kath believes that he is the guy from the World Cup, and stresses that it does not mean she is giving up her bed.   

"He can have my bed any time!"

Cassie comments, “He can have my bed any time!”

"Sláinte!"

Lleucu can be seen sitting in the background and, as Ffion is about to return to school, she raises a glass and says “Sláinte!” [the Irish toast to ‘Good Health’]   

"So it was you!"

This confirms Ffion’s suspicion.   

“You’ll think twice before trying to embarrass me in front of the pupils again!” Lleucu sneers.

“You know, I have a lot of work to do,” moans Ffion, and is told that she can do it after enjoying her night entertaining Dafydd Iwan.   

She is not endearing herself to Ffion 

Ffion now dislikes Lleucu even more.

"Thanks for the help . . ."

Tom has been lending a hand, loading the van, with Hywel very grateful for the help;  

". . . sorry for spoiling things last week"

“I’m sorry for landing here last week and spoiling things,” he says.

"I hope you've got everything"

Gaynor hopes that he has got everything now, but if he has left anything behind she will bring it over.   

They have a final hug

Hywel gives her a farewell hug and she admits that they were both to blame;  

"Bye, then"

he takes his leave 

"Would you like a cup of tea?"

and Gaynor offers Tom a cup of tea.

Megan is not happy

Megan is down-heartedly telling Cassie that the manager has suggested sending someone down to help in Apêl Maenan three times a week.   “And they might be cutting my hours – 

"I think they're trying to get rid of me"

“I think they’re trying to get rid of me,” she groans.

"They wouldn't do that, Megan"

Cassie is sure that they would not do that, but Megan concedes that perhaps the time has come;  “And the bus service has stopped, 

"It might be time for me to go"

“so it might be time for me to go.”   She is told that she will be greatly missed.

She is shocked to find who is next to her . . .

Ffion comes back in with Dafydd Iwan and Megan is astonished to realise who he is;

Ffion will take a photo of the two of them together and thanks Dafydd for agreeing to sing for them tonight.   “Any time for a good cause,” he replies.   

"Dafydd Iwan!"

Megan is very excited to be in the same room as him.

"Are you all right?"

At Llwyncelyn, Tom checks that Gaynor is all right with Hywel leaving;  “It would be only natural to be upset that it’s all over.”

"There's nothing between us any more"

She tells him that there is nothing between the two of them any more, so he wonders what is troubling her;  

"There's something, isn't there?"

“Because there is something, isn’t there?”

"I'm not sure of where I stand with you"

Gaynor is unsure of where she stands with him;  “You do realise that I’m completely and utterly single, don’t you?   And I’m ready to commit to another relationship?” 

"Do you have someone in mind?"

Tom enquires whether she has someone in mind 

"I like you very much"

and she replies, “Well, I like you very much – but what about you?   Are you single?   Or are you seeing other people?   Or are you too busy?   

"Or do you not want to?"

“Or do you not want to?”

"I like you very much as well"

He admits, “I’m completely and utterly single – and I like you very much as well.”   She wonders if he wants to stay there tonight, but he confesses that he cannot – 

"But I want to, so much"

although he wants to, so much.

Ieuan brings in some wine

Kelly sits dolefully on the sofa at number 7 and Ieuan brings in a bottle of wine;  

"Sara wanted to discuss Ifan

“This wine is a lot better than the one Sara bought me in the Deri,” he remarks, “She wanted to discuss Ifan.”

"She's got a cheek, targeting you!"

“She’s got a cheek, targeting you like that – honestly!” says Kelly, but he adds that she did sound pretty genuine.   

"I don't think that's best for Ifan, OK?"

“I don’t think seeing Sara is what’s best for Ifan, OK?”

He maintains that it will not be very easy to refuse, because she is his mother – and she has all the rights in the eyes of the law.   “What’s the law got to do with this?   We’re not going to court!” she snarls.   

"You might end up in court"

He points out that may not be the case yet;  “But if I know Sara, if you’re not very careful, that’s where you’ll end up,” he warns;  Kelly thinks this is ridiculous.

"What's so important?"

In the Deri flat, Brynmor demands, “What’s so important?   Dafydd Iwan?”

"Eleri!"

Kath stops him there with the single word, “Eleri!   I have to say this because I’m losing sleep – and Cassie is on pins as well, OK?   It would be worse if you heard from someone else down the line.”

"What do you think she's done now?"

He angrily demands what she thinks Eleri has done now 

"Where did she get the money?"

and Kath wants to know, “Where did she get the money to buy Tomos ac Ellis?   I know what you’re going to say – that she’s a clever businesswoman, 

"There's something odd about it"

“but there’s something odd about it.   After that fuss with her partner in America, you sending that money to clear her name – where has all this money come from?   I’m telling you, Brynmor, she’s hiding something.”

"Is it true that Dafydd Iwan is here?"

At that very moment, who should walk in but Eleri, asking, “Is it true that Dafydd Iwan is here?”

"Where did you get the money to buy Tomos ac Ellis?"

Kath demands, “Where did you get the money to buy Tomos ac Ellis?   If it’s dodgy, after everything he did to you in America . . .”

"Dad gave me the money, didn't you, Dad?"

Eleri immediately replies that there is nothing dodgy going on;  “Dad gave me the money – every penny – didn’t you, Dad?”

"How are you settling in?"

Gaynor brings a couple of items to Hywel at number 21 and asks how he is settling in;  he says that at least he has unpacked and they head towards the Deri next door.

"£10 a ticket to see Dafydd Iwan"

Cassie is stationed there and informs them, “£10 a ticket to see Dafydd Iwan singing live in the Deri tonight!”   

"All I wanted was a quiet pint"

Hywel moans that all he wanted was a quiet pint.

“As a councillor, you must want your photo taken with Dafydd Iwan to put on social media,” she continues, 

Hywel coughs up £20

so he pays £20 for himself and Gaynor.   

"We're going to make a lot of money"

Ffion comes out and is told, “You were right – we’re going to make a lot of money to get that defibrillator for the rugby club!”

Lleucu heads towards the Deri

Lleucu comes across the road to see what is going on and is informed that it is £10 with the profits going towards a defibrillator for the rugby club.   

"I can't afford that"

Lleucu cannot afford that and sadly turns away.   

"I'll pay for you"

Ffion calls after her, “I’ll pay for you – I know I upset you at school last week.   

"You were right – I was unprofessional"

“You were right – I was unprofessional and I’m sorry.”

This is not enough for Lleucu;  

"And for destroying my family?"

“And for destroying my family?   Are you sorry about that, too?”

Ffion reminds her that she has had her revenge now, so surely they can be civil with each other;  “Or perhaps you don’t want to see Dafydd Iwan tonight.”   

"Ffion's paying for my ticket!"

Lleucu hurries through the door, advising Cassie that Ffion is paying for her ticket.

"It's an investment for our future"

“But it’s an investment for our future!” rages Brynmor, “I have a right!”   

"I have a right to know the truth!"

Kath argues that she also has a right to know the truth, after everything she has done for him – hiding his secrets when he went off for months.

"She's my daughter!"

“She’s my daughter!” Brynmor shouts.

"And I'm your wife!"

Kath shouts back, “I’m your wife!”   The sound of Dafydd Iwan singing downstairs can be heard as Brynmor becomes more conciliatory.

"I should have told you from then start"

“No, you’re right – I should have told you from the start and I regret it.”   

"You only regret it because I found out"

Kath knows only too well that he only regrets it because she found out.   

"Kath, we need to disced this properly"

She walks out of the room and he demands where she is going, as they need to discuss this properly.

That did not go very well

“I’m not staying here tonight,” she replies and leaves him alone.

"Join in the chorus"

Downstairs in the bar, Dafydd Iwan invites those present to join in with the chorus of his next song;

"You don't remember Macsen"

Kath slips quietly away

As the song continues, Kath leaves the Deri.
