"I'm glad you've started to buy good coffee" |
Gaynor has gone to number 7 to visit Cheryl and comments, “I’m glad to see you’ve finally started to buy good coffee.” She is informed that it is the coffee that she left behind, so she rather unnecessarily adds, “I thought it tasted a bit posh for you, Cher.
"Thanks for letting me borrow this" |
“Thanks for letting me borrow these today,” she goes on, picking up the electric hair curler.
Mark wonders why she needs it and Cheryl replies, “Tom – they’re going on a date,”
"What are you looking at?" |
as she continues to look at her phone.
"The updates about Jason" |
Mark explains that she is following updates on Jason; she complains, “People have some crazy theories –
"Someone thinks he's been kidnapped" |
“someone thinks he’s been kidnapped – there’s so much fake news around.”
"Right, I'd better be off now" |
Gaynor will now go and is wished good luck with her date.
Britt continues the packing |
At number 21, Britt carries on with the packing for the move to the MFC flat; there is a knock at the door and she discovers that it is Colin.
"Why did you knock?" |
“Why did you knock?” she demands.
"You told me not to barge in" |
“You told me not to barge in using my keys again,” he answers and she thanks him for coming over, reminding him that they have to move out.
"I'm moving back to the flat" |
Then she comes to the awkward part; “And I’m moving back to the flat.”
"What – back with me?" |
He has the mistaken expectation that she is moving back with him, but she soon shatters that;
"No – on my own" |
“Oh, no, not with you, love – on my own.”
“Right, of course,” he groans. She apologises for being so brazen and expecting him to move out,
"I've been expecting that" |
but he says had been expecting this for some time. “It’s only fair, isn’t it? It was your home before . . . we got married,” he says, “I’ll ask Mathew and Rhys if they’ve still got room in the flat above the shop –
"It will be handy for me, working downstairs" |
“because it will be handy for me, working downstairs. Right, I’d better distribute these leaflets – I’ll get the rest of my stuff later.”
"I did try to phone you" |
As he leaves, Britt says that she did try to phone him while he was camping,
"Our phones were confiscated" |
so he explains that their phones were confiscated, which comes as somewhat of a relief to her.
"It was nothing important" |
She maintains it was about nothing important and has forgotten already what it was. “Nice to see you, Col,” she adds as he goes.
Ffion walks along the street |
Ffion walks along the street past CwmFM and encounters Rhys, who totally ignores her; she asks how he is.
"How do you think? My friend is missing!" |
“How do you think? My friend is missing!”
Ffion reminds him that Jason is her friend, too, but she is in a hurry to get to a meeting.
"Has John mentioned my offer?" |
“Has John mentioned my offer for Deri Fawr?” she asks and is told that she is too late –
"Someone else has put in an offer" |
someone else has put in an offer which he believes that John is going to accept. Ffion finds the news – and his attitude – very disappointing.
The search goes on |
In the woods, the search effort is still ongoing; Diane and Kelly are also there. “The cops have told us to be very careful by the water,” says Kelly
"I'm sure he's hiding something" |
and Diane complains that Jinx has still not phoned, which increases her suspicion that he is hiding something.
“Diane, please! We’re all shattered! I’ve told you he doesn’t know anything –
"I know him well enough to know he's not lying" |
“I know him well enough to know he’s not lying.”
"Thanks for these, Colin" |
In MFC, Colin has taken over more of the ‘missing’ leaflets
"Are you sure?" |
and is rewarded with a coffee on the house; “It’s the least I can do, with you moving out,” Britt says,
"Can I have the keys to the flat, please?" |
“While I remember, can I have the keys to the flat, please? I can’t find mine.”
"You're moving in next week" |
Colin wonders why she wants them today, and she points out that she wants to move boxes.
He rather angrily tells her, “You’re moving in next week – that’s what you said – next week.”
She urges him not to get in a flap and will put them in the spare room out of the way.
"What are you doing to me, Britt?" |
“What are you doing to me, Britt?” he growls and she cannot see what is the problem.
"Have you got another woman in there?" |
“Have you got another woman in there? I’m serious about those boxes!
"I want to shift them today or tomorrow" |
“I want to shift them today or tomorrow – the weekend is so busy with children’s parties, I’ve got no choice.”
"All right – come over about two" |
“All right – come over about two and I’ll let you in, OK?” he says
"What about your coffee?" |
as he rushes off, without his coffee.
The leaflets are everywhere |
One of the leaflets featuring Jason is on the door of Tomos ac Ellis;
"I still expect him to walk through the door" |
“I still expect him to walk through the door,” says Mathew at APD.
Ffion is less confident |
“The more time that passes without finding him, the more I lose faith,” Ffion replies.
Mathew tells her what Jason did |
Mathew confesses that he fell out with Jason on the camping trip, about him going behind Mathew’s back, “He was trying to get Eleri to buy my share of the company without telling me.”
"We all know he's not a saint" |
Ffion assumes that was to pay Kelly, and says that it is OK to be angry with him, as they all know that Jason is not a saint – the fact that he is missing does not change that.
“And I say that as a friend – of yours and his.
"I had trouble with Rhys this morning" |
“I had trouble with Rhys this morning – he’s refusing to give my offer to John Deri Fawr – he said I’m too late and he’s about to accept an offer from someone else. Do you think you could have a word with him?”
"Things are not great between us" |
Mathew explains that things are not great between him and Rhys since the trip; “Hes not happy that you and I kissed.”
"You didn't tell him?" |
Ffion is furious, demanding why Rhys told him. “I couldn’t lie,” answers Mathew, “I’m not sure it’s a good idea for me to discuss Deri Fawr with him –
"I'm willing to prick his conscience" |
“but I’m willing to prick his conscience, if you want me to.”
"If he has a conscience" |
Ffion is doubtful whether Rhys has a conscience.
"No more sweet potato burgers" |
Britt seems very busy at MFC although there are few customers; she is on the phone to a supplier and does not want any more sweet potato burgers.
Something catches her eye . . . |
Suddenly she is distracted
. . . Colin, carrying a ladder |
by the sight of Colin carrying a ladder past the shop as she orders ten ketchups and five Sriracho mayo.
"I know I still haven't phoned Diane" |
Out in the woods, Jinx meets Kelly; “Before you say anything, I know I still haven’t phoned Diane.”
"She wonders if you're guilty of something" |
“She’s starting to wonder if you’re guilty of something,” Kelly tells him and he admits that he has not been completely honest with her.
"We argued the last time we saw each other" |
“We argued that the last time we saw each other – but I did not do anything to Jason. He blamed me for destroying your marriage and some nonsense. I’d had enough and told him where to go – I told the cops that this morning.
"I'm scared, Kelly" |
I’m scared – I know I didn’t do anything to him, but I’m worried that my words drove him to do something stupid!”
"We're all guilty of something – I am, anyway" |
Kelly mutters, “We’re all guilty of something – I am, anyway. I put too much pressure on him with the divorce money, Jinx – and before he went on this stupid camping trip, we had the biggest argument – it was horrible! It’s not the best feeling that it was the last conversation we had.”
"Don't feel like that, Kelly" |
Jinx urges her not to feel like that and gives her a hug.
"Oh, my giddy aunt!" |
When Britt takes the first box into the MFC flat she has a great surprise; “Oh my giddy aunt!” she exclaims.
"You did all this?" |
Colin has been redecorating and anxiously asks if she likes it. “You did all this? she says and he wonders if the colours are OK.
"It's bloomin 'fabulous, `Col!" |
“It’s bloomin’ fabulous, Col!”
"I was having kittens!" |
He was worried when she said earlier that she wanted to bring her stuff to the flat and almost had a fit; “I was having kittens – I hadn’t quite finished
"I've been slaving away for hours" |
“and I’ve been slaving away, incognito, for hours.” Britt had no idea that he was doing that.
"A cosy nest for you and Kylie" |
She looks very guilty as he announces that it is a cosy nest for her and Kylie;
"I'm crossing everything" |
“I’m crossing everything that the fostering panel will be happy for you to foster Kylie on your own.”
"Britt Monk speechless?" |
Britt does not know what to say, so he goes on, “Britt Monk speechless – good grief!
"Our marriage was a happy one — wasn't it?" |
“Our marriage was a happy one, wasn’t it? On the whole – a few blips here and there, but . . . Consider this a parting gift – right, I’d better clear up a little bit
"Before I say goodbye" |
before saying goodbye.
Britt is very uneasy |
Britt is very uneasy about all this.
"I saw that APD is closed" |
In the Deri, Cassie gives Mathew his drink and comments, “I saw that APD is closed today.” Mathew explains that it felt strange to open after everything that has happened.
"Pint, please, Cassie" |
Rhys comes in and asks for a pint.
"I don't want any trouble between you two" |
“Right, I don’t want any trouble between you two – understand?” Cassie warns them.
"Isn't it time we moved on?" |
Mathew considers that it is about time they moved on,
"I haven't done anything wrong" |
but Rhys argues that he has not done anything wrong.
"I shouldn't have kissed Ffion" |
“All right, I shouldn’t have kissed Ffion when you had your eye on her – but I’ve told you, it won’t happen again.” Rhys tells him to do what he wants. “I was hoping after a few days of giving me the cold shoulder, you’d be over this by now.”
"You're not having a get out of jail card that easily!" |
“You’re not having a get out of jail card that easily!” snarls Rhys and Mathew describes him as very stubborn; he has said sorry before – and he means it.
"I'm not interested in her!" |
He spells it out, “I’m not interested in her!”
"Stop talking about her as if she's a cow in the market" |
Cassie intervenes and instructs them to stop talking about Ffion as if she is a cow in a market;
"Try to be civil with each other" |
“Try to be civil with each other – this week of all weeks!”
Mathew continues, “I saw Ffion earlier, by the way. She’s worried you didn’t give John Deri Fawr her offer.”
"She set you up to talk to me!" |
Rhys realises that Mathew has been set up by her to talk to him.
"As if you would do such a thing!" |
“Well, if that was her plan, I set her straight! As if you would do such a thing!” says Mathew, and then heads to the toilet.
"Pity that Arwen has missed out on Deri Fawr" |
“It’s a pity that Arwen has missed out on Deri Fawr,” remarks Cassie, “She’s been through enough, poor thing – and only someone very cruel would punish Arwen, because her mother rejected him.”
Rhys is left to ponder on her words |
As intended, this makes Rhys think.
At Maes-y-Deri, Mark says, “You’re not still reading those wild theories about Jason, are you?”
"Ordering flowers for Diane" |
Cheryl shows him that she is ordering some flowers for Diane, and he comments that she has a big heart.
There is a knock at the door and Mark finds that it is Gaynor once again,
"Tom cancelled at the last minute" |
bringing back the hair curler; “I didn’t use it in the end – Tom cancelled at the last minute.
"Playing hard to get, like I did!" |
Mark deduces that he must be playing hard to get; “Like I did with Cheryl.” Gaynor is offered a cup of tea –
"There are custard slices in the fridge" |
and there are custard slices in the fridge – something which Mark did not know.
"I haven't had one for ages" |
Gaynor says that she has not had one of those for ages and hopes that she is not gatecrashing.
"He says he's given John your offer . . ." |
Mathew goes to Cysgod y Glyn to report to Ffion, “He’s not in the best mood, but he says he has given John your offer.
". . . sorry I couldn't more help" |
“Sorry I couldn’t be more help.”
"I don't know what to say!" |
Ffion’s phone rings and that she finds that it is Rhys calling; her face suddenly lights up as she gasps, “I don’t know what to say – great – thanks!”
"I've got Deri Fawr!" |
She excitedly informs Mathew, “I’ve got Deri Fawr!”
There follows a hug . . . |
and hugs him, “I don’t know what you said, but it did the trick.”
. . . but Mathew disentangles himself |
Mathew realises what is happening and loosens his grip on Ffion;
"No, we shouldn't" |
as he backs away, he tells her, “No, we shouldn’t!”
Ffion has other ideas |
However Ffion is not of the same opinion and he has to remind her, “Rhys has just forgiven me and I don’t want to hurt him. I’ve just promised him that this would never happen again.”
"You are allowed to change your mind" |
She maintains that he is allowed to change his mind – and this time Rhys does not have to know.
"Put yourself first for once" |
“I think it’s time for you to stop doing what’s right all the time – and put yourself first for once.”
Mathew falls prey to Ffion the temptress . . . |
As they are about to kiss again there is the sound of a door slamming and they realise that Arwen is back.
"This is a sign, Ffion" |
Mathew regards this as a sign that a relationship is not meant to be,
"We just have to be more organised" |
but Ffion replies, “Nonsense – we’ll just have to be more well-organised next time.”
"I've given the floor a good sweep" |
In the MFC flat, Colin tells Britt that he has given the floor a good sweep and, after hesitating for a few seconds,
"I don't like it, Col" |
she says, “I don’t like it.” He had been convinced that the wallpaper was wrong.
"No – you leaving" — you told him to go! |
“No, not that – you leaving – I don’t like it at all – the place is beautiful, Col, absolutely beautiful, but even if I get the go-ahead from the panel, I don’t want to foster Kylie without you.
"You always think of everyone else" |
“I, er, can see now that you always think of everyone else. I was just upset because you went behind my back with Kylie – but it’s too late now, isn’t it? I’ve been such a fool.”
Colin has been listening . . . |
Colin who has been listening dispassionately until now,
. . . but now hurries to Britt . . . |
comes in from the kitchen
. . . and kisses her |
and immediately hugs and kisses her.
The weir and the railway line |
We see the river in full flow, passing over a weir [Radyr Weir on the River Taff, north of Cardiff] with an electrified railway line in the background [the line from Cardiff to Treherbert, Aberdare and Merthyr].
The search continues . . . |
Two of the rescue team in orange dayglo suits walk alongside the river and discover,
. . . and something is noticed by the river . . . |
among the rocks by the water’s edge,
. . . a red backpack |

Has Jason been swept away down the river? |
they look across the fast flowing river.
Kelly and Diane are in the Deri |
In the Deri, Diane sits as Kelly brings over two drinks; “I can’t believe how many people came out to support today,” she says.
"Do you believe Jinx?" |
“Do you believe Jinx? That they just had a few cross words?” Diane demands.
"Yes, I do" |
Kelly replies that she definitely does.
"Why didn't he tell the truth from the start" |
“Then why didn’t he tell the truth from start?” is the next question.
"You're just looking for someone to blame" |
“Because he feels responsible – guilty – like the rest of us,” says Kelly, “You’re just looking for someone to blame, Diane, because this is so painful.
"We have to focus on what's important . . ." |
“What we have to do now is stick together and focus on what’s important –
". . . getting Jason home safe!" |
“getting Jason home safe!”
