Jinx is not happy with his companion

Next morning as they awaken, we see that Jinx is now sharing his tent with Siôn, who groans, “Do I look as bad as I feel?”   Jinx replies that he looks worse.

Jason's night has not been profitable

Jason is still looking at his phone, where it is displayed that his total loss is £341.05.

"Sorry about last night, Jason"

He puts the phone in his pocket when DJ approaches and says he is sorry about last night.

"I'm not the one with the black eye"

“There’s no need to apologise to me – I’m not the one with the black eye,” replies Jason.

“I don’t know what came over me,” DJ continues and is told that he has a good right hook.

"Do you think he'll go to the police?"

“Do you think he’ll go to the police?”

"Siôn?   No!"

Jason regards that as very unlikely, and DJ moans that he would be in even more trouble with Sioned.

"How's Siôn?"

Then they hear the sound of a tent unzipping and Jinx emerges;  DJ is very anxious about Siôn’s condition

"Hungover – and he looks like a panda!"

and is informed, “Hungover – and he looks like a panda!   He’s putting all his energies into not throwing up at the moment.”

"Has he said anything bout going to the police?"

“Has he said anything about going to the police?” DJ asks.   Jinx answers that he has not said anything,

"Have you seen Colin this morning?"

then wonders if they have seen Colin this morning, as he was in rather a state last night

DJ was under the impression that he was in the tent with Jinx and Siôn.   “He was supposed to be, but he wasn’t there last night or this morning,” says Jinx with increasing anxiety, “I was assuming he’d gone to stay in your tent.”

Rhys plays a practical joke on Mathew

Mathew is still asleep as Rhys quietly unzips his bag and takes out a shaver, which he turns on right next to Mathew,

"Don't touch my eyebrows!"

who wakes up suddenly and warns, “Don’t touch my eyebrows!”   Rhys maintains that if he shares the tent with someone they have to have shaved eyebrows.

"Any rule about not giving someone a right hook?"

“Is there are any rule about giving someone a right hook?” Mathew wonders, “Do you think Siôn’s all right?”

Rhys predicts that his ego will be hurting more than his eye and complains that if he had his phone, he could phone for some breakfast.

"Everyone will need a bit of grease this morning"

“Come on – everyone will need a bit of grease this morning,” he insists.

However, Mathew will not change his mind;  “We’re here to have a digital detox – not a stag do!   We’ve got a busy morning – in an hour we’ve got that orienteering thing.”

"Anyone seen Colin?"

They crawl out of their tent and are asked if they have seen Colin;

"Probably nursing a hangover somewhere"

“He’s probably nursing a hangover somewhere,” imagines Rhys.   The problem is that no-one knows where he is – he is missing.

No-one knows Colin's whereabouts

The other members of the party have done a cursory search, but have not located Colin.

"Perhaps he went down to the river"

DJ suggests that he may have gone for a walk when everyone went to bed;  “He was hammered – perhaps he went down to the river.”

Mathew will check the toilets and showers

Mathew will go and check the toilets and showers, while Siôn will look in the woods and Rhys down to the river, but before he goes, he jokes, “All right, Fury?”

"That's not a laughing matter, Rhys!"

DJ does not regard that as a laughing matter and will follow Siôn.

"I don't think he's ready for round two yet!"

“I don’t think he’s ready for round two yet!” says Rhys, but DJ intends to apologise.

Jason stealthily replaces his phone

Meanwhile Jason slips into the tent to replace his phone in the box, but Rhys sees him coming back out again,

"I can't find my glasses"

so he makes the excuse that he cannot find his glasses and does not know what he has done with them.

"All right, boys?"

Suddenly there is a triumphant shout, “All right, boys?” and Colin comes into view;  they demand where he has been, as everyone is looking for him.

"I've been with Mike and his Rottweilers"

“I’ve been with Mike and his Rottweilers – Jessie, Barnaby and Sebastian.

"We had a full Welsh!"

“We had a full Welsh – fair play to him, he’s such a nice bloke!”

They instruct him to stay there while they go to tell the boys that they have found him.   Colin tells Rhys, “Did you know that Mike comes from Scotland . . .

"Or did he say Ireland?"

“or did he say Ireland?   I can’t remember!”

Siôn plods through the wood

Siôn is plodding through the woodland where he meets up with DJ;  neither of them have seen any sign of Colin.

"Listen, Siôn, I'm sorry about last night"

“Listen, Siôn, I’m sorry about last night,” says DJ, but Siôn is intent on finding Colin.

"I'm trying to apologise here!"

“I’m trying to apologise here!   Is your eye all right?”

“It’s nothing I can’t put up with,” is the reply,

"Panic over!"

but then they see Rhys running towards them, informing them that the panic is over;

"He's still alive, but still drunk"

Colin is still alive, but still drunk.

“Nobody will want him on their team – you have to see him!” he laughs and they return to the camp.

Jason brings the good news to Mathew

In another part of the wood Jason brings the good news to Mathew;  “He’ll be all right now that he’s had a big fry up in the house with Mike.

"Thank you for letting me come"

“Listen, I wanted to have a talk to you anyway – I want to thank you for letting me come on the trip.”

"I haven't forgotten what you did with Eleri!"

Mathew makes it clear that the fact he agreed does not mean that he has forgotten everything Jason did with Eleri.

"I've been under a lot of pressure with this divorce"

“I’m sorry – I’ve been under a lot of pressure with this divorce – I was desperate.   I’m sorry – will you forgive me?” Jason begs.

"Quite a show last night, wasn't it?"

As they walk back towards the others, Jason comments, “It was quite a show last night, wasn’t it?”

Mathew warns him, “Look, I’ll forgive you – like I always do –

"I don't trust you for a second!"

“I don’t trust you for a second!   So keep your distance – right?”

Colin catches up on some sleep

Colin is fast asleep in a chair when the rest of them return and Mathew gives them their instructions for the orienteering;

"We all have to get into pairs"

“We all have to get into pairs – every pair starts 15 minutes after another.   The course isn’t very big and we don’t want teams following each other.”

"There are seven of us"

Siôn raises the objection, “How can we get into pairs if there are seven of us?” so Rhys suggests that they discount Colin.

"I don't wam him in my team!"

None of the others seem to want him in their team.

Colin, who has just woken up, mutters that he does not want to be in a team,

"I've got better things to do"

but has better things to do, “Like being sick, sleeping and going home – in that order.”

DJ agrees that it might be a good idea to go home now, because he has to be home by three, anyway.   Mathew explains that the bus will not be there until one.

Colin goes to the tent

Colin staggers back into the tent as Rhys demands why Matthew did not organise canoeing or something.

"Sort it out yourselves!"

“For the last time, I didn’t arrange this!” Mathew snaps, “Do you know what?   Sort it out yourselves – the walkie-talkies are here and the maps – I’m leaving now – I’ll be better off on my own!”

"I'll go after him"

Rhys volunteers to go after him,

"What – drinking already?"

while Jason is about to open another can, much to Jinx’s surprise.

Siôn studies the instructions

Siôn picks up one of the packs and says, “We need to follow the map, find the points and when we have found every point we can stop the clock.”

"What's stopping us going straight to the last point?"

DJ wonders what stops them cheating and going straight to the last point.   Apparently there is something to be found at each point.

“Oh, that sounds like fun!” Jason sarcastically remarks.

"I'm sure this is the right way"

Mathew is sure that they are going the right way, but Rhys is not convinced;

"City break and out on the pop!"

“City break and out on the pop – that’s what we should do next time,” he says.

“There won’t be a next time, boy – I’m not going anywhere with them again!” Mathew snarls.

"That was one of the best things I've seen in ages!"

“Come on – that punch was one of the best things I’ve seen in ages!” laughs Rhys, “And do you know what else I can’t get out of my head?   Siôn and Eileen!

"What were you and Ffion talking about, then?"

“What were you and Ffion talking about, then?   I saw you together before we left yesterday.”   Mathew unconvincingly replies that it was nothing, so Rhys can see that it must have some significance.

"Just tell me, Math"

“It didn’t look like ‘nothing much’ – why are you being odd?   Just tell me, Math.”

"We kissed"

“All right – I wasn’t going to tell you on this trip, because there’s nothing to say – it was a mistake.   I don’t even know how it happened – but we kissed.”

"You're joking?"

Rhys initially thinks he is joking,

He does not look as if he is

but then realises that is not the case;

"You and Ffion?"

“You and Ffion?” he growls and walks away.

"Well, it's time to go"

Back at the camp a quarter of an hour has passed and Siôn is ready to leave and DJ volunteers to go with him;

"I'm not going to punch you again"

“I’m not going to punch you again!”

"It might be nice if the left matched the right!"

Jinx points out that it might be nice if the left eye matched the right.

"I want to do this properly"

“Come on, but remember if you’re going to be my partner, I want to do this properly – no cheating – understand?” Siôn insists.

"We shall beat that other pair"

DJ is convinced that they will beat the other pair, Jason and Jinx.

"What – another one?"

Jason opens yet another can and when Jinx objects, he demands, “Are you always this much fun on holiday?”

"It meant nothing, right?"

Mathew is following Rhys and urges him to listen;  “It meant nothing, right?”

"Why did you do it, then?"

Rhys wonders what he did it in that case;  “It wasn’t me!” Mathew protests, “I don’t know what happened.”

"But you wanted it to happen"

Rhys is convinced that he wanted to happen;

"No – and it will never happen again!"

“No, I didn’t – and it will never happen again,” stresses Mathew, but Rhys regards it as too late now, now that Matthew has gone behind his back.

"Friends don't go with each other's exes!"

“Friends don’t go with each other’s exes!”

"How about Tes?"

so Mathew reminds him about Tesni, but he says that was different.

"I just kissed one of your exes"

“You’re just angry because I kissed one of your exes – I didn’t kiss her intentionally.”

"Ffion's different – and you know it!"

Rhys is becoming angry;  “You could have gone with any other ex – all right?   But Ffion’s different – and you know it!”

"We'd better go back"

DJ and Siôn are striding through the woods, but Siôn does not think they did the last point right;  “We’d better go back.”

"I've got to get back in time for the scan"

DJ is in a hurry so that he gets back in time for the scan, but Siôn is insistent that they do it properly.

"I want to be home in an hour"

“I want to be home in an hour – and if that means we come last, I don’t care.   Come on – lets go to the second point.”

"I thought you were sorry about last night!"

“I thought you were sorry about last night!” snarls Siôn, and DJ confirms that he is.

"So why are you being so impatient with me?"

“So why are you being so impatient with me, then?”

“Don’t take it personally – I don’t want to let Sioned down again – we’re trying to give things another go.

"I want to be someone she can depend on"

“I want to be someone she can depend on – someone she can turn to when she needs some support.   So that she doesn’t . . . turn to other people.”

Siôn realises what the situation is;

"Perhaps I didn't deserve this, but . . ."

“Perhaps I didn’t deserve this, but I don’t think I helped myself either.”

"Would you mind not telling Sioned?"

DJ asks if he would mind not telling Sioned about it and Siôn agrees.

"You might as well come"

Jinx is looking at the map and Jason urges him to go and enjoy himself;  “I’m staying here.”   Jinx suggest that he might as well come as well, instead of waiting there;  he points out that after that can, the beer will be all finished, so he will be just staring at a fire that has gone out.

He has to finish the latest can first

In the end Jason agrees to accompany him;

"I'm not taking any instructions from you . . ."

“But I’m not taking any instructions from you – I’ll take this, because I can read a map!

". . . you can play with this walkie-talkie"

“You can play with this, the walkie-talkie!”   Jinx demands what is his problem.

“I’ve got a hangover, Jinx, all right?

"I've got better things to do"

“And I’ve got better things to do than go on a treasure hunt in the middle of nowhere with you!”

"I'm trying to get a bit of sleep here!"

An angry voice can be heard behind them, as Colin complains, “I’m trying to get a bit of sleep here!”

"You're not the only one who wants to go home"

Jinx points out that Jason is not the only one who wants to go home.

"We're just wandering around aimlessly"

Siôn and DJ appear to have become lost;  “We’re just wandering around aimlessly now,” Siôn observes

"Let's go back to the tents, then"

and DJ suggests that it would be best to go back to the tents.

"We've agreed to meet the others"

“No, we’ve arranged to meet the other boys at the last point,” Siôn reminds him.

DJ proposes that he will notify them on the walkie-talkie that they have given up, but Siôn will not agree to this.   “Does it matter?

“There are more important things!” DJ grumbles.

"You're ruining this whole experience for me!"

Siôn maintains that the scan is this afternoon, so they have plenty of time, and tells DJ to stop being so selfish.

“You’re ruining this whole experience for me by rushing me.   You’re going to be a father soon, DJ, and being a Dad means putting other people first.”

"Siôn White telling me I'm selfish!"

DJ chuckles, “Siôn White, of all people, telling me that I’m selfish!”

"What are you going to do?   Punch me again?"

Siôn demands what that means;  “What are you going to do?   Punch me again?”   They trudge on through the woods.

"It was just one random kiss"

Rhys wants to know exactly what happened, but Mathew does not know himself;  he is asked whether he slept with Ffion.   “No – it was just one really random kiss – a couple of crazy seconds.”

"Did you enjoy that couple of crazy seconds?"

“Did you enjoy that couple of crazy seconds?” Rhys demands,

"I just want to forget about it"

but all Mathew wants to do is to forget about it;  he maintains that it is not worth the two of them falling out,

Rhys does not agree

but Rhys holds the opposite opinion.

"We should be the other side of the river"

Jinx explains to Jason, “If we’re here, we should be on the opposite side of the river,”

"We could cross here"

so it is suggested they could cross just there.

"I'm not walking all the way round"

Jason refuses to walk all the way round and cross somewhere else.

"Jason, please – it's dangerous!"

“Jason, please – it’s dangerous!” Jinx pleads with him.

"Frightened of getting your pants wet?"

“Frightened of getting your pants wet, are you?” Jason replies, “Oh, you’re worrying about me, are you?

"St Jinx – no wonder everyone loves you so much!"

“St Jinx, you’re incredible – it’s no wonder everyone loves you so much!”

"Don't say this is about Kelly again?"

Jinx angrily asks, “What is your problem with me?   Don’t say this is about Kelly again?”

"If it wasn't for you . . ."

“Well, if it wasn’t for you, Jinx, my marriage to Kelly would have been a happy one, wouldn’t it?”

"She wouldn't have married you in the first place"

Jinx points out, “She wouldn’t have married you in the first place if it wasn’t for me – because I told her to marry you – she didn’t know what to do at the time.   You see, I’m not the villain here –

"If I wanted to be with Kelly, I would be with her!"

“and also, if I wanted to be with Kelly, I would be with her!”

"You think you're such a big man, don't you?"

As he turns to walk away, Jason snarls, “You think you’re such a big man don’t you, Jinx?”

"I'm a bigger man than you'll ever be!"

Jinx’s emphatic answer is, “I’m a bigger man than you’ll ever be!   Just go and complain to someone who cares.”

Jason looks at the river . . .

Jason is left gazing at the swirling waters of the river –

. . . and we can only guess at what is going through his mind

and we must wait until after the week’s break to find out what happens next.
