at that moment Britt is coming out of the door of number 21 and wishes him good morning. He asks how Colin is and she rather unconcernedly replies that she does not know.

"I take it he's on the mend!" |
“All I do know is that I need to fetch him home from the hospital, because there’s no-one else available – so I take it he’s on the mend!”

Griffiths thinks that is rather a strange attitude,

Rhys is walking along the street |
then notices Rhys coming along the street past the pharmacy.

"Hey – it's past ten o'clock!" |
“Hey – it’s past ten o’clock!” he complains, “Why aren’t you in the office? You know you have two viewings at Llys Gwyn.” Rhys simply answers that he has the day off, but Griffiths points out that he did not authorise that. “This isn’t the way you act if you want me to put in a good word for you with whoever buys Tomos ac Ellis,” he warns.

At APD, Kelly asks Auntie Anita, “Are you sure you don’t want to come shopping with me? That rattan chest of drawers is half-price online, but I want to see it in the flesh – because I don’t want a repeat of that giraffe!” [Zara, who in fact was a long-necked zebra, first arrived in Bryntirion on 5 July 2022]

Anita advises that she should take her time, reminding Kelly that there already is furniture at number 7.

“I want to put my stamp on it,” protests Kelly, but Anita replies that she has no idea how long she will be staying there.

“No can do, amigo!” is Kelly’s response, so he suggests this afternoon. “Swimming with Ifan,” she answers

and he insists that he needs to sell the house today.
She has the perfect solution;

He haughtily protests that he is the owner, not a salesman, so she emphasises, “If you want this sale to go through, you have no choice –

“and remember, smile and be nice to the clients!” He turns round and storms out, with Kelly bidding him, “Tara!”

Anita tells her to go shopping and enjoy herself, “But be careful with Jason’s money – I don’t want you spending too much on stuff you don’t need.”

“Don’t worry, Auntie Neet, no stress – I know what I’m doing,” Kelly reassures her.
Britt has collected Colin, who appears to have made a miracle recovery after his injury;

Rhys has gone to Llwyncelyn to ask his father if he can borrow a golf club; “Remember that it’s worth a lot of money,” his father warns, “You’re lucky I’m lending it to you – who are you playing with – Mathew?”

Rhys says that he is on his own

and his father volunteers to accompany him if he fancies a bit of company.

Rhys groans that there is no guarantee, but his father is sure that he will find another job. “There aren’t any jobs around here,” he says, but Hywel suggests that he could do some PT work until something comes up.

Colin does not appear to have lost his appetite and thanks Britt for the soup he has just finished;

“Listen, Col, I’m glad you’re OK, all right, but I don’t want to talk about this now!” she snarls, “Not until we find out if we can be foster parents again or not. Give me a shout if you need anything – I’ll be back in a few hours to change that dressing.”

In the Deri, Griffiths complains to Anita, “Those viewings were a complete waste of time. None of those couples were interested in the house at all – I think they just wanted a day out.”

“I’m surprised you care – that company won’t be anything to do with you soon,” she replies, but he protests that he still cares about the place’s success.

He stresses that if he had any choice, he would not be selling it at all.
“I don’t know, because I don’t know what’s going on in your head,” Anita moans and he urges her to stop holding a grudge against him.

Hywel Llywelyn walks in and jokingly asks, “Are you sure you can afford that?” Griffiths maintains that things are looking better now and thanks Hywel for his concern.

“Oh does he? So that’s why he refused to work with me today,” Griffiths answers.

“I know you’re busy and I also wanted to check you were all right after last week,” she goes on; Jason says he has already forgotten about it and everything is fine.

The bag contains Ifan’s swimming kit and, as she turns to leave, Kelly adds, “Thanks, by the way, for letting me take him – I miss our trips to the swimming pool.”

In the Deri, Hywel continues, “Having someone to buy into the business would be a good way to keep the company and make a pretty penny,” but Griffiths says that he has made his decision.

In MFC, Britt is serving a customer when Colin cautiously approaches outside, obviously still in some pain; “You should be at home resting,” she reprimands him.

She maintains that she was not punishing him, but simply did not want to see him; he replies that she cannot ignore him for ever.

Colin jumps up from his chair as quickly as his injury will allow and leaves the shop;

Hywel walks across the road to the deli, where Griffiths is sitting at a table;

Hywel replies, “You’re in rather a hole, aren’t you? Tell me what happened.”
Griffiths begins that one of his contacts gave him a tip; “A new housing development in Pembrokeshire – the return on the first investment was the best I’d ever had.

“So you want to be in my life but you don’t want to be with me,” summarises Jason.

She explains that, for the last few weeks she is starting to feel like Kelly again after all the years of one thing after another – the trauma.

“But now you don’t need me, because you’re over it,” is his assumption, she protests that is not what she said. “The thing is, I wish I could move on, too, but I can’t.

“I’ve been too busy running around, helping you – trying to find 50 grand to enable you to move on,” as he slams the fridge door.

“Trying?” she exclaims, “You said ‘trying to find 50 grand’. You said it was sorted – but it’s not sorted is it, Jase?”

Colin sits gloomily in the Deri as Hywel comes in and asks his son, “Did you stay out of those bunkers?” but he has not come to talk about golf.

“It makes sense – you must have had a good return from the visitors at number 10 – why don’t you invest some of it? Perhaps Griffiths will let you have it cheaper.”

Rhys says that he is not flavour of the month at the moment, but his father points out that Griffiths has a soft spot for him. “I can’t afford to buy a business – my savings aren’t that big,” he says.

Hywel wonders if Kelly might be interested, as she will have got a pretty penny after the divorce.
“I want the place to remain in the hands of local people,”Hywel insists and Rhys thinks that it is worth considering,

but instructs his father not to say anything at the moment; he has to do a lot of charming with Griffiths first before he has any chance of getting the business. “I’m a bit of a charmer myself – I’m sure the three of us can sort something out,” says Hywel.

Rhys will go and get the next drink, and on the way notices Colin, asking him how are things;

“Is he all right?” Rhys asks his father, who saw him arguing with Britt earlier. “He’s only just come out of hospital,” Rhys goes on

but all she does is to turn up the volume on the television

He shouts, “This is stupid, Britt!” but she continues to ignore him

he yells, “There you are, then – suit yourself!”

He heads back next door |
and he staggers back next door to the pub.

"Why say the money's there if it isn't?" |
exclaims, “I don’t know if I’ll have a job in a couple of months – why say the money’s there, when it isn’t?” He merely replies that he is sorry,

so she continues, “When I signed the contract to rent Dani’s house – did you know the money wasn’t there?”

“I do have the money . . . just . . . I need to work out the best way to release it,” Jason argues.”

“OK – so how am I meant to move on with my life, then?” she demands and he asks what is the problem; she just needs to be patient until he has sorted something.
“Do you know what, Jase? I’m battling with my inner conscience – but I’m not backing down!

“I want that money, as promised, in two weeks, or I will go to my lawyer!” She picks up the swimming bag and storms out of the bungalow.
