Garry is only too willing to oblige |
Garry is in the chip shop flat and is very pleased to agree to her request; “Just give me half an hour,” he replies, and Britt, who is listening to this,

assumes from his smile that it was Andrea.
“Remember you did promise to fix that fryer!” she tells him, but he is in a hurry to have a shower,

"I'll deal with it when I come back" |
and will be back in plenty of time to deal with it.

"Why didn't you wake me?" |
At Penrhewl, Sioned is in a bad mood; “Why didn’t you wake me?” she demands,

"I didn't want to disturb you" |
and DJ says that he did not want to disturb her, as she does not have much on today, so it does not matter.

"I didn't want to sleep" |
She angrily exclaims, “Yes, it does – because I didn’t want to sleep!”

"Next time I'll pull the duvet off" |
He replies that next time he will pull the duvet off her.

"I had a dream about John" |
She explains, “I had a dream about John – we were both sitting at the top of a mountain, looking down over Penrhewl. We were laughing together – then the fields started to disappear – and then John disappeared.

"I was screaming – but I had no voice!" |
“I was shouting and screaming – but I had no voice! This isn’t about money, DJ, I don’t want the shop – or even the business!

“If I lose Penrhewl, I lose who I am.”

"Did you sleep?" |
Garry arrives at the Deri flat and asks whether Dani slept;

"Listen, Garry . . ." |
“Listen, Garry,” she begins; he maintains that he knows what she is going to say and there is no need. She does not have to apologise or thank him – he is just glad that he was there.

"One thing I can't understand . . ." |
“No – I wasn’t too going to say that . . . things have been going round and round in my head, and there’s one thing I can’t understand,” she continues,

". . . how did you know I was there?" |
“How did you know I was there?”

"Does it matter now?" |
He remarks that it does not matter now as she is safe, and that is what is important.

Dani wants to get to the truth |
She is insistent, “Yes, it does matter – how did you know?” He takes off his jacket and is reluctant to answer,

"I put a tracker on your phone –and I'm glad I did!" |
but finally admits that he put a tracker on her phone, as she did not give him much choice – he could not risk her disappearing with the kids again. He is very glad that he did, or no-one would have saved her.

She is still adamant that she did not need to be saved, so Garry points out that Wilko has been filming her and the kids for weeks, watching everything she has been doing.

“Says the boy who put a tracker on my phone!” she screams, “You had no right!”

concedes that she may be right, adding, “But people who are in love do stupid things sometimes.”

She laughs, and tells him that she does not want this again; “Jaclyn, a couple of months ago, Andrea yesterday – now me?”

He makes it very clear that wherever he goes, whoever he sees, Dani is the one. “I can’t do this,” Dani groans and rushes out of the room.

Jinx is in the shop, remarking to Kath that he heard about the sailors’ outfits, and is pleased that he did not join in. She maintains that they looked great, and while she is occupied with paperwork,

Jinx slips the purloined bottle of brandy behind a magazine on the rack.
“I’d like to pay for a few sweets as well,” he goes on, “Arwen’s already chosen some –

and helped herself to them the other day! Don’t worry, it’s all sorted and will never happen again.”

Sioned is very subdued over the lunch table; DJ comments on the soup as being disgusting,

but she says that she is just not hungry. She will go out to finish the sheep’s hooves;

“Mam’s on her way back and I don’t have the energy to fall out with her any more.”

DJ is worried about her; he has an idea and makes a phone call.

Garry brings breakfast for Dani |
Garry is still at the Deri flat and brings Dani some breakfast; “I don’t eat carbs,” she tells him.

He recalls a restaurant they went to, but she warns him not to try reminding her of the good times,

“Because . . . I remember them all. No matter how hard I try, I can’t stop.”

She is in tears as Garry argues, “We’re meant to be together,”

They kiss |
and he kisses her. “I’ve wanted to do that for months,” he confesses.

"It felt like the last few months hadn't happened" |
“Just for a moment, it felt like these last few months hadn’t happened,” Dani sighs, “But they have – and I can’t forget that. You’ve done a lot of things to hurt me.

“When you left me and the children for Jaclyn, you broke my heart,” she sobs.

He says that he has regretted it every day since then,

but Dani unexpectedly announces, “I want you to leave Cwmderi. I can’t do this.”

Garry begs for just one more chance, and she explains that this is his chance;

He kisses her hand |
He kisses her hand, gets up and walks out of the flat.

Back at the chip shop flat, Britt insists that Garry is not thinking straight,

but he realises, “It’s all my fault – if I hadn’t had an affair with Jaclyn, Dani wouldn’t have had to go to someone else. “I’ve ruined my life.”

Britt was under the impression that he was in love with Andrea, and he admits that he wanted to be in love with her. “Well, if you think there is a chance with her,” Britt encourages him, but he does not want to make a mess of her life as well.

His mind is made up; “I’m moving back to Newcastle!”

DJ’s phone is ringing on the table at Penrhewl when Sioned comes in; as he is not around, she answers it. “Yes, this is DJ’s phone – I don’t know what he called you, but I’ll tell him that you phoned back.”

"Britt said you wanted to talk to me" |
Garry is zipping up his case when he hears footsteps on the stairs and assumes that it is Britt; however, it is Andrea, who has been contacted by Britt. “She said you wanted to talk to me,” Andrea tells him, and when she notices the luggage, she continues, “Are we going somewhere?”

He is rather lost for words, but manages to explain that he is moving back to Newcastle; Andrea is incredulous and wants to know what is going on.

“It’s over,” he mutters, and there is a stunned silence.

“I came here today thinking you were going to apologise for disappearing last night,” she growls, “That you had some big plan to make it up to me.”

Garry points out that he was not the one who invited her over, and Andrea realises that he did not know Britt had contacted her.

DJ sighs that he had to talk to someone about the situation; “Someone who knows you, Eileen and Penrhewl. I couldn’t stand seeing you how you were this morning – it breaks my heart.

“I don’t know what to say – you know – if there’s a wrong way to say something, I’ll say it!”

The very thought of leaving the farm scares Sioned, but he emphasises that it is not doing her any good to stay there; “You’ve got a lot of memories here and you can take them with you.

“If it’s a choice between staying here and your mental health, I’m ready to pack up now!”

"Why are we wasting time here?" |
She realises that DJ is right; “I’ve been too sentimental – if Huwi-John’s getting everything, why are we wasting time here?

“We need to leave – and soon! We’ll see how Mam copes then.” DJ is disappointed by her attitude.

Mark finds Andrea sitting miserably in the Deri, and she growls angrily, “You men in Cwmderi – you’re lovely, aren’t you?

“At least you were honest – you didn’t want to get close to me from the start – but Garry! He’s moving to Newcastle – being with me is just too hard, apparently.”

Mark is shocked by this but points out that Garry has a lot going on, especially between him and Dani.

“Oh great – he’s got issues with his ex as well!” she groans, “Something else to discuss with my therapist – I haven’t got one, but I need one after being here!”

Mark apologises again for the way he reacted; “There’s no excuse – I was an idiot.”

Andrea fears that she will never get a boyfriend, but Mark is quite sure that she will, “A better one than Garry – or me.”

She decides that she wants another drink, but Mark is worried that she has had too many already.

“How are you going to get home tonight?” he asks, and she glumly supposes that she will catch the bus.

“Good luck with that – look, come back to our house,” he suggests, “Tyler and I are going to watch Harry Potter.”

She replies that she has seen them all – twice. “That’s still one fewer than me, then,” he says,

Andrea takes him up on the offer.

Up in the chip shop flat, Britt asks, “Why are you letting her win?”

but Garry insists that this is not about winning; he has to give Dani a chance to be happy. “And what about the children?” she says.
He argues that this is what is best for them as well.

Britt is sorry about phoning Andrea, and he comments wryly, “You had to create some sort of drama before I left, didn’t you?” She does not want him to go, but he makes his way slowly down the stairs.

Aaron comes out of his room, complaining, “He could have said ‘tara’. What about Andrea?”

Britt tells him that it is all over, and is determined she is not going to stay in the flat, dwelling on things all afternoon;

she has to go downstairs and sort out the fryer, but reminds Aaron that Garry will not be gone for ever.

As Britt leaves the room, Aaron mutters, “I don’t believe a word he says.”

When Ffion arrives home from school, Jinx is making stirfry; “The one with the Tofu?” she enquires, and wonders where Arwen is.

“I haven’t collected her from Siôn’s yet – I wanted to talk to you first.

"We should talk to Arwen about your alcoholism" |
“I think we should talk to Arwen about your alcoholism – you know, properly.”

Ffion is not in favour of this, but he goes on, “She stole a bottle of brandy – there must be a connection.”
Ffion insists that she is too young to understand,

but he is sure that it must be on her mind; “That vodka business wasn’t long ago – she’s seen you drunk before, hasn’t she? Look, I know you don’t like talking about it.”
Ffion makes it clear that they should leave the matter for now, regarding it as a coincidence;

“She stole something to get attention, that’s all. I’ll go and get changed,

As they come out of the Deri, Mark is asking what Andrea would like; “Beans or spaghetti?” She wonders whether they have hoops or alphabet letters. “Hoops – I’m an adult!” he sneers.

Then they notice Garry loading up the car nearby;

Andrea glowers at him and walks away.

Dani comes out of the Deri and thanks him for what he is doing;

She wants him to give her time, so he thinks there may still be hope.

Garry drives out of the village . . . |
He gets into the car and drives away along the High Street,
