"I'm going for a shower"

Sioned comes into the farm kitchen and informs Alaz, by means of hand signals, that she is going into the shower, but then the front door opens and Eileen’s voice is heard;  “We’re back!”

Alaz looks at family photos

Meanwhile Alaz is looking at family photographs.

"Who the hell are you?"

To say that Eileen is shocked is an understatement, as she discovers the stranger in her house;  “Who the hell are you?” she demands,

"OK, sorry, no – friend"

and Alaz comes up with the few English words he knows, which are ‘OK, sorry, no – friend’.

"He's staying with us, Mam"

Sioned comes dashing back downstairs and explains that he is staying with them;  she introduces him as Alaz,

"Erm . . . hello"

and Eileen is very taken aback.

In the Deri, Kelly tells Jason, “I know Auntie Anita is upset, right, but you can’t blame Mathew.”

"We've been here before, Kelly"

Jason points out that they have been there before;  he can understand why Auntie Anita is upset – either Mathew trusts her with the accounts or he does not.

"It look like Mathew doesn't trust anyone"

“It looks like Mathew doesn’t trust anyone,” Kelly goes on, but Jason maintains that anyone could have walked in off the street and stolen that money.

"Nah – it's an inside job, Jase"

She is unconvinced, and stresses that it is bound to be an inside job,

Then they are disturbed

but then they are not happy to see Ieuan Griffiths coming in.

"Can Anita and I have there house to ourselves?"

“Just the people,” he says, “Can Anita and I have the house to ourselves this afternoon – for a special meal?”

"Throwing us out of of own house"

“You’re throwing us out of our own house?” says Kelly, shocked, but he points out that he is just asking politely.   “Why can’t you do the entertaining at your own house?” she wants to know,

"The oven is broken at home"

and he makes some lame excuse that the oven is broken.   He would appreciate it if they could have the kitchen to themselves at least.

Jason considers that if it is only the kitchen, it should be all right, and Kelly glowers at him.   Griffiths puts down the bag he is carrying and hurries to the toilet.

"Ooh – Hearts Entwined!"

In his absence, Kelly delves into the bag, much to Jason’s disapproval;  she finds some perfume;  “‘Hearts Entwined’ – wow, that cost a pretty penny!” she exclaims, and Jason is anxious that she should put it back.

"You haven't forgotten about Eunice, have you?"

“All right – chill, Jase,” she says, “You haven’t forgotten about Eunice, have you?”

“No, and I’m sure there’s an innocent explanation for what’s happened there,” he replies.

'Jason, my antenna is twitching"

“Jason, my antenna is twitching – not a good sign, is it?” Kelly warns,

Griffiths goes to the bar

as Griffiths comes back and picks up the bag, heading to the bar, where Geraint is serving.

"Kurdish – how do you know?"

Sioned has been explaining to her mother;  “Kurdish – how do you know?” Eileen asks, and Sioned says that he told her earlier,

"We don't know anything about him"

and DJ emphasises that they do not know anything about him.

"Isn't it enough that John ill-treated him?"

Sioned considers it enough that John mistreated him.

"Well, he can't stay here"

Eileen makes it quite clear that he cannot stay there.

“Some sense at last!” growls DJ, but Sioned pleads that he is on his own and does not have anyone.

"More reason to phone the authorities"

Eileen regards that as even more reason to phone the authorities.   “Exactly – the sooner he’s out of our hands, the better for everyone,” DJ agrees, “Right, I’m going to the shed – some of us have to finish the lambing.

"Before we all get into trouble"

“Phone the authorities, will you, before we all get into trouble.”

Alaz can see that all is not well

Alaz comes back in and can see that there is some tension.

"Iolo would have helped you"

SiĆ“n is having some work done by APD at Y Felin, and tells Eifion that Iolo would have helped him to bring things over.   “I know do you want this job finished quickly – I’ll unload the van,” says Eifion.

Iolo arrives for his lunchbox

Iolo comes in, having forgotten his lunch.

“As I’m here, do you want some help with the van?” Iolo offers, but Eifion refuses.

"I'll make a cup of tea"

SiĆ“n will make a cup of tea, but Eifion does not want one, and SiĆ“n leaves them together.

"I'm quite handy with cement"

“If you need some help, I’m quite handy with cement,” Iolo volunteers, but is told that it is not fair to pay for the job and do half the work himself.

"Thanks for the offer all the same"

“It won’t take me long, but thanks for the offer all the same,” Eifion tells him, so Iolo leaves.

News of the Ghost Tours is spreading

Britt informs Colin that ‘Merched y Wawr’ [the Welsh version of The Women’s Institute] and the Young Farmers are interested;  “And they’re willing to pay!”

Mark looks at the screen . . .

Mark puts on his glasses and looks at the laptop screen,

. . . to see the local Historical Society are interested

to see that the ‘Gwendraeth Valley Historical Society’ have also shown an interest.

Britt wonders how much they should charge, but Colin raises the rather basic objection,

"For what?   You haven't got a Ghost Tour

“For what?   You haven’t got a ghost tour.”   Britt dismisses this, wondering how hard it can be, as all they need are stories.

“It will be like the old days – you and me entertaining people again,” Mark tells Colin,

"I'm not getting dragged into this!"

who does not want to be dragged into this nonsense.   He is adamant that he wants nothing to do with it.   “Come on – it will be a bit of fun –

"Mark and Colin – the frightening brothers!"

“‘Mark and Colin – the frightening brothers’!   Be afraid – be very afraid!”

Britt finds this amusing . . .

Although Britt

. . . as does Mark . . .

and Mark are laughing heartily,

. . . but Colin remains stony-faced

Colin looks very unimpressed.

Sioned is not getting anywhere

As they sit at Penrhewl with cups of tea, Sioned is having difficulty getting through to the relevant authority;  “I shall be waiting on the phone all day at this rate,” she grumbles.

"We don't know where he's been, do we?"

Eileen is anxious that he might be carrying a disease;  “I’m only asking – we don’t know where he’s been, do we?”

"In John's shed!"

Sioned abruptly replies that he has been in John’s shed, and that he must regret coming there in the first place.

Obviously, Sioned has been quite successful in communicating with Alaz, because she can tell her mother that he arrived on a boat;  “He said that there was a storm and his brother fell into the sea.

"They both drowned"

“His uncle tried to save him, but they both drowned.”

"That's awful!"

Eileen’s attitude seems to be changing, as she groans, “That’s awful!”   Sioned continues that he was sent back to Calais, but some of them managed to escape in the back of lorries – they had to give every penny they had to those men.

“I don’t know quite what happened then, but Alaz was separated from his family and ended up here – with John!”

"John would sell his own mother!"

“That swine would sell his own mother if he thought he could make money,” snarls Eileen.

Sioned receives a phone call

Then Sioneds phone sounds, and she appears to be receiving some information.

Mark is behaving strangely in the bookshop

In the bookshop, SiĆ“n is concerned to see Mark looking at some books and photographing pages of them with his phone.

"Are you looking for anything particular?"

He asks if Mark is looking for anything particular;  “Just stories about local people,” is the reply, “Britt and I are going to start doing Ghost Tours.”

"I like the candyfloss look!"

Then he looks up at SiĆ“n and comments, “I like the candyfloss look – it’s good!”

"Go to the library if you want to do research!"

This annoys SiĆ“n, and he tells Mark to go to the library if he wants to do research.

"The tours will be in Welsh"

“I just thought you could give us some pointers, as the tours will be in Welsh,” Mark adds, and of course this attracts SiĆ“n’s attention.

This changes SiƓn's attitude

“Not many stories like that have been published in Welsh, actually,” he says, and is told that is why they are asking him,

"You're the expert on these things"

as he is an expert on these things.   SiĆ“n is won over, and is sure that he could do some research for Mark;  he says it sounds like an interesting project.

Mark is very grateful and suggests, “If these tours are successful, you could write a book to go with them – it sounds like there’s a gap in the market.”

SiƓn has been persuaded

SiĆ“n is now well and truly ‘on board’ with the idea.

"The secret's in the Sofrito!"

As Griffiths is cooking at Llwyncelyn, he says, “The secret’s in the Sofrito – if you don’t get that right, the paella’s ruined before you start.”

"I hadn't realised you were such a chef"

Anita remarks that it smells lovely and had not realised that he was such a chef.

In the background, Kelly and Jason are sitting on the sofa.

"I'm a dark horse, Anita"

Griffiths describes himself as a dark horse,

Anita mentions the refurb of Llwyncelyn

and Anita does not know where anything is since the refurb, drawing our attention to the fact that Llwyncelyn does indeed look different.

Griffiths calls it very tasteful, but Anita is not so sure;

"Diane doesn't know yet"

“It’s too bright – I don’t know what Diane will say – she doesn’t know yet.”

"What did you say about a 'dark horse'?"

Kelly cannot help chiming in at this point;  “I like it bright myself – and what did you just say about a ‘dark horse’?

"Anything else you're hiding?"

“Anything else you’re hiding?”   Griffiths remembers that there is one little thing and presents Anita with the bag.

She is effusively grateful, and Kelly is watching intently as she takes out some perfume,

"You're Unique – that's nice, isn't it, Kelly?"

“Ooh, ‘You’re Unique’ – that’s nice, isn’t it, Kelly?”

"I knew it all along, Jase"

Kelly returns to sit by Jason, who is reading a ‘Men’s Fitness’ magazine;  “I knew it,” she mutters, “I knew it all along.   He’s just given Auntie Anita some perfume.”

"Yes – you used into his bag"

Jason does not see the significance of this fact, as she already knew, after nosing into his bag.

Kelly points out the discrepancy

She points out, “That was ‘Hearts Entwined’, but this one’s ‘You’re Unique’ – and it looks loads cheaper, too!”   He still has not realised what she is getting at, so she spells it out, “Jase, it’s a no-brainer, isn’t it?   He’s given the more expensive perfume to someone else.”

"He may be keeping ti for Christmas"

“Unless he’s keeping the more expensive one for her birthday – or for Christmas,” he suggests,

"Blokes don't do Christmas shopping until Christmas Eve!"

but Kelly is quite convinced that blokes do not do their Christmas shopping until Christmas Eve.

"I'm going to find out who!"

“He’s got someone else – and do you know what?   I’m going to find out who!” Kelly declares.

Whatever Eifion has been doing is outside

SiĆ“n is peering out of the window to check the work that Eifion has been doing out there;  “You’ve done a decent job, fair play to you,” he says,

"You must be ready for your lunch"

“You must be ready for your lunch after slaving away all morning.”

"I don't usually bother with lunch"

Eifion protests that he does not usually bother with lunch, but SiƓn is insistent that he will pay for lunch in the Deri.

"I've forgiven you – just about"

“Iolo seemed very keen to help you earlier – it’s nice to see a smile on his face again,” SiĆ“n adds, “And he enjoyed the other night as well – don’t worry, I’ve forgiven you for colouring my beard – just about.   You two seem to get on well.”

"I'm not one to refuse a free lunch"

Eifion says that they are friends, and they are about to leave for the Deri;  “You know me, SiĆ“n – I’m not one to refuse free lunch,” he says.

SiƓn has a plan in mind

SiƓn has a conspiratorial look on his face.

"Just doing some research for an article"

Sioned is speaking on the phone, and lies that she is just doing some research for an article she is writing.   “He’d have to go to a refugee centre,” she tells DJ, “They could keep him there for six months and he’d probably be sent home.”

"There's not much more we can do"

DJ points out that there is not much more they can do,

"Can't wait to get rid of him, can you?"

and she snarls, “You can’t wait to get rid of him, can you?   Have you considered why he fled in the first place?   Nobody wants to leave everything they know – a home, family – he must have been desperate,” but DJ replies that is not their fault.

“How can you be so hard?” she goes on,

Alaz listens to the argument

and we can see that Alaz is listening from outside the door, as DJ insists that he is being sensible.

“We can’t just keep an illegal refugee – we could go to jail!   How are we supposed to keep him here?   And if John finds out – look out, then!”

"Not frightened of John, are you?"

Sioned is surprised that DJ is frightened of John;  “Is that what worries you – John’s reaction?   Not what happens to Alaz?”

"If he's run away, I'll never forgive you!"

He seems to have heard enough and leaves the house;  they hear the front door slam, and Sioned rages, “I’m telling you now, if he’s run away, I’ll never forgive you!” and she goes out to look for the fugitive.

"That was lovely, Ieuan"

Ieuan and Anita have just finished their meal, and Kelly is vacuuming in the background.   “I’m glad you enjoyed it,” he says,

"Quite successful – under the circumstances"

“It was quite successful – under the circumstances.”

Anita apologises, saying that she does not know what is wrong with Kelly, who is being very childish.

"Kelly, can you stop making that noise?"

She shouts, “Kelly, can you stop making that noise, please?”   Kelly replies that Ifan has dropped crisps everywhere, and she does not want the new carpet to be ruined.

"Anything important?"

Ieuan’s phone sounds, and Kelly suspiciously demands, “Anything important?”

"Emergency council meeting"

He makes the excuse that there is an emergency council meeting, commenting that there is always some crisis, as he puts on his jacket

"I'll phone you, Anita"

and says that he will phone Anita.

She is rather put out by this, moaning, “After all the trouble he went to and everything!”

Kelly formulates her plan . . .

As she continues to complain about the noise of the vacuum cleaner,

. . . and sets off in pursuit

Kelly grabs her coat and follows him out of the door.

There are more customers in the Deri today

SiĆ“n brings Eifion a glass of Bordeaux, commenting, “I didn’t know you were a red wine kind of guy,”

"Red wine goes with steak"

but is told that it goes with steak.

"I hope you don't mind that I invited Iolo"

Iolo arrives, and SiƓn hopes that he does not mind that Iolo was also invited.

Iolo asks how Eifion likes his steaks;  “Well done or rare?”   Eifion answers that he is not fussy – just as long as it has stopped moving.

SiƓn manufactures a problem he has to sort out . . .

SiĆ“n’s phone sounds, and he alleges that he has to leave to sort out a problem with an order at the bookshop;  “All the information is on my laptop at home.”

. . . and leaves money for the meal

As he takes out some money to pay for the meal, he adds, “I’m sure you’ll have more fun without me.”

"He knows how to make things awkward"

“He knows how to make things awkward, doesn’t he?” groans Iolo,

"I can't remember the last time someone bought me a steak!"

and Eifion cannot remember the last time someone bought him a steak.

"SiƓn was all in favour of the idea"

Mark goes to the chip shop flat and reports that SiĆ“n was all in favour of the idea when he found out that the tours would be in Welsh.

"We'll have enough stories for ten years"

Britt is confident, “Knowing SiĆ“n, we’ll have enough stories for the next ten years!”

"Best of luck to you"

Colin, who is doing the ironing, wishes them well, but Britt complains, “You’re not going to do it with us?   Aaron will be disappointed – he’s been texting all morning, saying it’s a really cool idea.

"The perfect opportunity to do something together"

“This is the perfect opportunity for us to do something as a family and take his mind off everything that’s happened!   But, no – you want to spoil everything.”

"If it means helping Aaron . . ."

Colin’s attitude changes;  “Well, if doing it means I’m helping Aaron, then . . .”

"That's the spirit, Col"

Mark praises him, just as Britt receives a message that one company is willing to pay £10 a head for a private tour.

"Our first customer, boys!"

“Our first customer, boys!” she exclaims, “This is just the start!”

Griffiths approaches an opulent house . . .

Ieuan Griffiths strides up to a very imposing house,

. . . with 'Super Sleuth' Kelly on his tail

and Kelly is following from a discreet distance.

He carefully wipes his feet

He very carefully wipes his feet on the doormat, then goes into the house.

Kelly continues her investigation . . .

Kelly approaches and peers through the leaded light window

. . . as Griffiths gives the perfume to a woman

to see someone sitting in an armchair;  Griffiths gives the present to her,

"Gotcha!"

and Kelly triumphantly and mutters, “Gotcha!”

"No sign of him"

Back at the farm, Eileen and Sioned return from their search, but have been able to find no sign of him.

"It's better this way"

“Listen, Sioned, I know you’re upset, but it’s better this way,” says DJ.   Eileen hopes that he finds somewhere to shelter in this wind, as it is expected to be a cold night.

Sioned appears to be distraught

She reassures Sioned that she did her best.

"Come on, Griffiths, time to face the music!"

Kelly marches resolutely to the front door of the house, rings the doorbell and bangs on the door, growling, “Come on, Griffiths, time to face the music!”

"Oh, Kelly!"

Ieuan opens the door and is very surprised to see her.

"Council meeting cancelled, was it?"

“The council meeting was cancelled, was it?” Kelly demands, and as he is struggling for an explanation, she continues, “I wasn’t born yesterday –

"Know you're two-timing Auntie Anita!"

“I know you’re two-timing Auntie Anita!”

"No – you've misunderstood, Kelly"

He insists that she has misunderstood, but she goes on, “I’ve misunderstood you giving that perfume to that woman, have I?”

"Another one of your dolly birds, is it?"

An elderly woman comes to see what is going on;  “Another one of your dolly birds, is it?” she demands,

"You'r not going to see a penny of his money!"

“Listen here, good girl, whatever he’s told you, whatever he’s promised you, you’re not going to see a penny of his money – do you understand?”

"What?   You think him and me . . ?"

Kelly laughs at the ridiculous accusation;  “What?   You think him and me . . .

"If this slimeball was the last man on the planet!"

“You know what – I wouldn’t go out with this slimeball if he was the last bloke on the planet!”

"Mami, this is Kelly, Jason's partner"

Ieuan steps in to explain, “Mami, this is Kelly, Jason’s partner – APD – do you remember?”

Kelly is amazed by his reference to ‘Mami’,

"Miss Eunice Gwenhwyfar Griffiths to you . . ."

and the woman haughtily informs her, “Miss Eunice Gwenhwyfar Griffiths to you –

". . . not that we're going to see each other again!"

“not that we’re going to see each other again!”

"Ieuan, inside!"

Then she turns her anger on Griffiths;  “Ieuan, inside!” she orders, and slams the door in Kelly’s face,

Kelly is left somewhat surprised

which is not what Kelly had been expecting.
