A parcel has just been delivered to Maes-y-Deri and Kath is looking concerned. Mark arrives through the back door;

she informs him that the costumes are there, and that she wants him to take them to Cassie in the Deri.
“Your costume is in there, too,” she adds, which comes as a surprise to him;

"You won't have to worry about what to wear" |
“You won’t have to worry about what to wear now, will you? And make sure Brynmor stays away from the Deri, because we’ll be preparing.”

"How are you, Mark?" |
Brynmor comes in through the front door and Mark hurries away,

"See you later – or perhaps not" |
commenting, “See you later, then – or perhaps not,” which Brynmor finds rather puzzling.

Kath is also off to work, and he is disappointed,

"I'm really looking forward to seeing you later" |
but she assures him that she loves him and is really looking forward to seeing him later.

He dials Wilko's number . . . |
As soon as she is out of the door, Brynmor picks up his phone and dials Marc Wilkinson’s number,

. . . but is in for a surprise |
but a recorded voice advises, “The number you have reached has been disconnected.” He regards this as particularly strange.

Dani and Wilko prepare to leave |
Meanwhile Wilko and Dani are just coming out of the Deri and loading the luggage into his car.

Garry comes across the road, and sarcastically comments, “Leaving the country, are you?”

Wilko replies that they are just having a break, and when Garry hears that the children are with Jaclyn, he points out that he would have had them.
Dani tells him to go and see them, warning, “But I’m back tomorrow,

She tells Ffion that it is hard to keep this surprise party a secret from Brynmor; “He thinks I’ve forgotten it – he wasn’t happy this morning – actually, I feel a bit guilty.”

Out in the countryside, Wilko’s car arrives at a secluded cottage with some scaffolding around the chimney.

Dani gets out of the car and is told, “I know you were expecting a five star hotel.”

She says that it is lovely and really romantic; she is glad she packed more than stilettos and a little black dress.

Brynmor has rung the police station; “Good morning – is it possible to speak to Detective Inspector Marc Wilkinson, please?”

Then he receives some interesting, and troubling, news; “Has he?” Brynmor gasps,

Brynmor heads for the Deri |
As a cyclist rides along the street, Mark and Tyler are passing the chip shop when they notice Brynmor, who is heading towards the Deri. Mark is concerned that he will see all the preparations for the party,

and shouts to him, with the feeble excuse that he and Tyler are going for a walk to the park and they invite Brynmor to join them.

When they are told that he is on his way to see Dani, Mark explains that Tyler knows, so Brynmor tells them, “This cameras business has been on my mind and Wilko’s disappeared.

“What’s worrying me is I phoned the station and he hasn’t been in work for three months!”

"So that filming wasn't part of the job?" |
Mark concludes that filming Dani was not part of the job, and that is why Brynmor wants to see Dani. Mark protests that he cannot go in;

Tyler, who has been into the Deri, emerges with the news that Danny has gone away with Wilko and Jaclyn does not know where they have gone.
Mark will phone the police, while Tyler goes to speak to Kelly, who knows a lot about the situation;

Brynmor is instructed, “Go home and act surprised when the moment arrives! And pretend that you’re happy – she’s gone to a lot of trouble!”

“Didn’t you think about discussing it with me before you bought a house?” Dani wants to know, but he alleges that he needed to make a quick decision,

“You must be able to see that leaving Cwmderi, my home, my business and taking the kids out of school is a huge step!” she complains.
He agrees and suggests that the children do not have to go to school;

Dani likes the fact that they can mix with other children at school; she points out that their friends and family are in Cwmderi.

Dani protests that she has not been threatened, but Wilko maintains that is because he has been keeping her safe.

After a moment’s thought, Dani asks, “You haven’t been filming me, have you, like Kelly said?”

He does not answer her question but informs her that she and the children are being watched and he had no choice.
“You were determined to carry on as if nothing was wrong,” he goes on, and she wonders when they are going to pick up the children.

He leaves the room and Dani is very frightened.

Ffion discovers in Arwen’s school bag a bottle of brandy, so she investigates the bag further.

In the secluded cottage, Wilko brings Dani a mug of tea; “You think I’m overreacting, don’t you?” he says, “I’ve got my reasons, Dan.”
