Rhys shows his location

Abi has messaged Rhys to ask where he lives and he highlights the area on a map, commenting, ‘West is best!’

Mathew looks over his shoulder

Then Mathew comes upstairs and he quickly closes the laptop, but not quickly enough, alleging that he was talking to a mate.

"I know exactly what I saw, right?"

“Listen, Rhys – I know exactly what I saw, right?” and it is pointed out that Abi contacted him.

"It was nice to hear from her again"

Rhys says that it was nice to hear from her again.   “Does her mother know that you are in contact?” demands Mathew,

"She's 16, Rhys!"

“You’re online with someone who’s 16, Rhys!”

“Don’t make it seem seedy – she’s Gwen’s sister,” Rhys emphasises, but he is reminded that he should not be in contact with her.

"I'm not doing anything wrong"

“I’m not doing anything wrong – I just wanted to ask a couple of questions,” he insists.

Mathew asks whether Lois knows about this;  “I’m going to tell her the first chance I get – so chill!” Rhys exclaims.

"Abi wants to meet"

Then a message arrives on his phone;  “Abi wants to meet,” he says, and Mathew urges him to be careful,

"You're playing a dangerous game"

as he is playing a dangerous game.

"No – we can reorganise"

Colin is on the phone, telling someone that they can reorganise,

Britt seems to have a ghost fixation

and Britt is watching another ghost film;  she maintains, “I’m trying to psych myself up – more chance of seeing a ghost, and getting our money’s worth.”   The phone call was from Aaron who cannot come with them, as some work has got to be done by the end of the day.

"I reckon he was scared'

Britt imagines that he was scared about this ghost tour, but Colin says that he was excited about the whole thing;

"We ought to reorganise"

he considers that it is best to reorganise so that he does not miss out.

"The tickets are non-refundable"

Britt is adamant,“We’re going – the tickets are non-refundable, so he turns to Lois, who has an afternoon off.

“Do you want to come with us on this spooky adventure?” he asks,

"No – I don't like things like that"

but she does not like things like that.

"We can have a cappuccino"

Colin tries to pretend that he is looking forward to it, and says that they can have a cappuccino in the café there.

"The ghosts might lock us in, Col"

Britt would prefer to take a flask of coffee and sandwiches – or the ghosts might lock them in.

"Still not talking to your mother, then?"

“You’re still not talking to your mother, then?” Colin enquires of Lois, and she is quite determined that she is not going to,

"After she made such  mess by contacting Gwen"

after she has made such a mess by contacting Gwen.

Sioned's mind is elsewhere

Sioned is gazing out of the window at Penrhewl and does not seem at all interested when DJ announces that another sheep has had triplets;  “Come and see the size of them!” he encourages her, “I thought she was your favourite – Eileen would have shown a bit of interest.”

"Well, she's not here, is she?"

“Well, she’s not here, is she?” Sioned replies, “She’s gone away in the midst of all this.   I just can’t stop thinking about what I saw at Deri Fawr yesterday.

"I think we should go back there"

“I think we should go back there and find out what is going on – and I promise,

"I'll phone the police straightaway"

“if there’s anything suspicious, I’ll phone the police straightaway.”

"All right – but I'm coming with you"

DJ acquiesces to this, but also insists that he will come with her.

"The place is sparkling, Andrea"

Dani has been cleaning the former salon and assures Andrea, “There are no creepy crawlies and the place is sparkling.”

"I'm shortening this dress for a customer"

Mark is on his way over with her belongings, and Andrea explains that she is shortening a dress for a customer who wants it for a party on Saturday night.   “I’ve always been interested in altering clothes – especially ‘Cosplay’ ones.”

"W could offer that as part of the business"

Dani thinks they could offer this service as part of the business, if Andrea is happy with that.

“I knew that employing you was the right thing to do,” says Dani as she leaves.

"You don't have to move in if the pace is filthy"

Then Mark arrives and offers to go and check on the flat, insisting that she does not have to move in if the place is filthy.

Andrea says that she has been assured that the flat is sparkling;

"You just want me to stay at number 7, don't you?"

“You just want me to stay at number 7, don’t you?” and Mark cannot deny that he enjoys her company.   “We can still be friends,” she insists.

"If Mam comes home"

Mark predicts that he will hardly be there when his mother returns home;  “If she comes home,” he adds, gloomily, but Andrea tells him not to talk like that.   “You know what?   She’s never been so still – it must be hell for her!” he moans.

"You have to believe that she will recover"

“You have to believe that she will recover,” Andrea encourages him,

"I'm trying to stay positive for her sake"

and he realises that it is going to take time;  he is trying to stay positive for her sake.

"Can you do me another favour, please?"

“Before you go, can you do me another favour, please?” she asks.

John Deri Fawr is shouting

DJ and Sioned are back at Deri Fawr and they see John shouting at the man from the shed,

"Are you stupid or what?"

“Are you stupid or what?   Use this to get the rust off first – yeah?

"One – rust, two – paint!"

“One – rust, two – paint!”   The man appears very frightened as he is angrily told to do a proper job.

Then he notices their visitors

Then they notice their two visitors;

"What are you doing nosing around?"

John snarls, “What are you doing nosing around?”

"Who's he, then?"

Sioned wants to know who the other man is. and is told, “That’s the new farmhand – better than that idiot Eifion!

"He did his work experience at Penrhewl!"

“But there we are, he did his work experience at Penrhewl!”

“It’s hard to find farm labourers these days,” says Sioned and John agrees that it is hard to find poor workers, let alone good ones.

"I don't have time for this!"

He insists that he does not have time for this, so she invites him over to Penrhewl later,

"I've got an offer for you"

informing him that she has an offer for him.

They walk away

They turn and walk away, while John continues berating his farmhand.

The dress is a perfect fit on Mark

Mark is acting as a tailor’s dummy for Andrea, and she is very pleased with her work;  she is also glad that Mark is the same size as her customer.

"I'll get some tacking thread"

He struts up and down in the costume and Andrea will go and get some tacking thread.

"Any chance of a date, beautiful?"

Colin happens to be passing at that moment, and, seeing Mark in the costume, comments, “Oh yeah – any chance of a date, beautiful?”   He is told to get lost, but goes on, “I didn’t know you wore dresses –

"Your secret's safe wit me!"

“but don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone – your secret’s safe with me!”

"I'm doing Andrea a favour"

Mark explains that he is doing Andrea a favour, and Colin wonders if he would like a free trip;

"We've got a spare ticket"

“Britt and I are off to a haunted house ghost party, and we’ve got a spare ticket.”

"I'm not keen on ghosts"

Mark is not keen on ghosts, and recalls that one came to the house with the Eisteddfod Chair, but is sure that Britt will hold Colin’s hand;  “And she’ll wash your pants when you get home!   Just tell Britt you don’t want to go.”

"Britt's looking forward to it"

Colin argues that he does not want to let her down, as she is looking forward to it,

"Oh – OK, then"

so Mark agrees that he will accompany them.

Cassie does not watch Rhys' videos . . .

In the Deri, Cassie apologises for not watching Rhys’ videos,

. . . as moving barrels keeps her fit

but explains that moving barrels in the cellar keeps her fit;  he groans, “The problem problem with the Internet is that there is always something more exciting to attract followers.

Rhys is optimistic about the future

“A lot fewer watch my videos now – but I’ve got a lot to look forward to.”

"Thanks for coming, Lois"

He takes the drinks over to a table just as Lois comes in and thanks her for coming;

"It's important we understand each other"

“It’s important that we understand each other, I suppose,” she answers.   Rhys begins that he has been thinking a lot,

Then Gaynor comes in . . .

but then they are interrupted by Gaynor’s arrival.

. . . promoting the scholarship

“I thought you’d like to see this,” she tells Lois, as she puts down a sheet of paper on the table.   “It’s been online for a while but there has not been much response – there’s so much rubbish on the Internet, isn’t there?”

"A dig at me, is it?"

Rhys imagines that this is a dig at him, but Gaynor denies it.

"I've always been supportive"

“I’ve always been supportive of your business,” she goes on, and heads to the bar.

"We won't get much peace with her here"

Rhys points out that they will not get much peace with her there,

"The flat's empty"

and Lois suggests they could go to the chippy flat, which is empty.

John Deri Fawr arrives at Penrhewl

A Land Rover pulls into the farmyard at Penrhewl and John Deri Fawr gets out, looking scruffy as usual;  he maintains that he has to keep an eye on the boy, and in answer to Sioned’s query, points out that he is not local.

"He's my friend's sister's son"

“He’s my sister’s friend’s son – I’m doing her favour.   There’s nothing like slaving away on a farm to stop him turning into a waster.   Right, what’s this offer, then?”

"We could run the farm"

“It’s no secret that I've always liked Deri Fawr,” says Sioned, “We could run the farm and you wouldn’t have to employ a farmhand.”

"And you'd want to get paid?"

He was under the impression that they had plenty to do at Penrhewl, and supposes they would expect to get paid.

"I'm talking about renting it"

“I’m talking about renting it, with an option to buy, perhaps,” Sioned continues;  DJ adds that John could retire a wealthy man, and travel the world.

"Land is better than money in the bank"

“Land goes up in value every year – it’s better than money in the bank,” John replies, but Sioned insists that every farm needs new blood;

"We're full of modern ideas"

they are young and full of modern ideas.   “I’ve forgotten more about farming than you two know, combined!” he snarls,

"I d rather give it to a donkey sanctuary!"

“I’d rather give it to a donkey sanctuary than sell it to Eileen Probert’s daughter!   Goodbye.”

With that, off he goes again . . .

With that he gets back into the Land Rover and drives away,

. . . much to Sioned's annoyance

much to her disgust.

"Do you think yoiu'll ever go back to Llwyncelyn?"

In the chip shop flat, Rhys wonders if Lois is enjoying living there;  “Does Britt fuss all the time?   Do you think you’ll ever go back to Llwyncelyn?”

"It might be better if you had your own place"

She answers that it is better for everyone this way, and Rhys suggests that it might be better if she had her own place.

"What if we looked for a place together?"

“What if we looked for a place together?   I don’t mean a damp bedsit – a proper home, so we can settle down together.   Meeting you again and having a relationship has been brill!   I just want to be with you.”

This does not fill Lois with enthusiasm

From her expression, we can clearly see that Lois thinks otherwise.

Gaynor tries to interest Ffion in the scholarship

In the Deri, Gaynor is speaking on the phone to Ffion;  “It would be a good opportunity for the sixth form to do some work for their Bacc, or A-level Welsh.”

"It's a writing competition"

Then she asks Cassie to put up one of her posters;  “It’s a writing competition,” she says

"Cassie should enter"

and Dani thinks that Cassie should enter.

"How about that diary about your travels?"

“They want factual, not fantasy,” is the reply, “How about that diary you wrote on your travels in the campervan?”   Dani answers that would be a story for the kids,

"I'd like to read about that"

but Andrea would like to read about her experiences.

"With rain coming through the roof?"

“Really?   About cooking bangers and beans, with rain coming through the roof?   I don’t think so!   How about you, travelling around the world in an aeroplane?”

"Have you ever stayed at the Atlantis Hotel in Dubai?"

Cassie wonders if she has ever stayed in the Atlantis Hotel in Dubai,

"All right it you like sheiks in Ferraris"

and is told, “It’s all right if you like Sheiks in Ferraris.”   Cassie wonders where she went wrong.

"The two of you should compete"

Gaynor thinks that the two of them should compete.

"Look at this one in Cwrtmynach!"

Rhys has rather jumped the gun, looking at suitable properties, one of which is in Cwrtmynach.   “Three bedrooms – one on-suite, and a patio for barbecues!”

"A posh house doesn't make a person happy, Rhys"

“A posh house doesn’t make a person happy, Rhys,” Lois remarks,

"Living together could be great!"

but he predicts that living together could be great.   She makes it clear, “Rhys, we’ll always have something special between us.   We can’t change what happened,

"I don't want to be forced into something"

“but I don’t want to be forced into something I don’t want to do because of the past.”

"I'll make it work"

He naïvely maintains that he will make it work, but she sighs, “You don’t understand –

"I don't want to settle down with you"

“I don’t want to settle down with you.   Sorry, but that’s the truth.”

It looks as if the message is at least getting through

He looks very upset about that, and she goes on, “There’s no point dreaming of having a family and getting Gwen back.

"She's happy with the life she's got"

“She’s happy with the life she’s got and I’m at peace with that.   Sorry, but we can’t be anything but friends.”

"Well, thanks for being so honest"

He thanks her for being so honest, commenting that at least they know where they stand,

Lois is left alone

and leaves the flat.

"I'm sure there's a simple explanation"

On their return from the ‘ghost experience’ Cassie is sure there is a simple explanation to what they saw;  “I remember Nain Gerlan saying that she’d seen a white ghost outside – until she realised that the street lights had come on.   Drink that, and you’ll come back to the real world –

"It's on the house"

“it’s on the house!”

"The house was very cold . . ."

Mark informs them, “The house went very cold, then there was this terrific wind –

". . . Colin's face turned into a skull!"

“Colin’s face turned into a skull!”

Then they collapse with laughter . . .

and all three of them burst out laughing, which Cassie had been expecting.   As Colin says that Britt demanded a refund,

. . . and Cassie wants payment for the drinks

Cassie withdraws the offer of the free drinks.

“The ghost train at Porthcawl was more scary,” Britt insists, and Mark remembers the man with his head under his arm,

"He dropped his head when I shouted, 'Boo!'"

who dropped it when Britt shouted ‘Boo!’

"That was hilarious!"

Colin describes the event as hilarious and a real tonic.   “It was hopeless – but it was packed!” exclaims Mark.

"We need to find a spooky location

Britt maintains that they could do a better job;  dress up and find a spooky location.   Mark suggests, “Ooh, Y Plas – I hate delivering post there, especially when it’s dark!”

"Coaches and horses when someone is about to die"

Colin takes up the theme;  “They say you can hear horses and coaches there when someone is about to die.”   Britt maintains that Colin is the expert on stories – Fflam proves that.

"The clatter of horses' hooves!"

Mark can almost hear the sound of horses’ hooves outside.

“Right – I’ll find out if Y Plas is available,” Britt decides,

"This is our chance to make a fortune"

“I’m serious, boys – this is our chance to make a fortune!”

Colin appears to be having misgivings

Colin is not sure if he is happy about this.

A break from the lambing

Sioned and DJ arrive back at the farm house in darkness;

"Shall we have a quick one now?"

“Shall we have a quick one now, as it’s quiet at last in that lambing shed?” she asks, but DJ thinks they should probably go to the shed at night and stay off the booze.

"Stay away from that worthless swine!"

He is sympathetic, “I know you were disappointed today – you should stay away from that John – he’s a worthless swine!”

"The swine who owns the farm I want!"

Sioned points out that he is a swine who owns the farm that she wants, but DJ argues that they should concentrate on Penrhewl.

"Huwi's going to get everything"

“What’s the point?   Huwi’s going to get everything,” she moans, and when he suggests looking for another farm, she is adamant, “Deri Fawr is perfect for us!

"This doesn't mean I'm giving up!"

“Just because John’s refused once doesn’t mean I’m giving up.   What is it to be?   An early night, or fall asleep in front of the fire?”

"What do you think?"

“What do you think?” he replies, and they head up to bed.

"No, I'm going to bed"

In the shop flat, Rhys proposes that they watch one more episode, but Mathew says that he is too tired and it is bedtime for him.

"Is everything OK?"

Rhys’ phone vibrates, and he finds that Abi is calling.   He asks if everything is OK.

“Cardiff?” he says, surprised, and goes on, in English, as Gwen and her family are in Bristol, “When?   That’s pretty soon – send me the details –

"That's great – I can't wait!"

that’s great – I can’t wait!”

Surely they should have turned off those lights

At Penrhewl there is the sound of breaking glass;

Someone investigates the contents of the fridge . . .

someone comes in, looks around the kitchen and opens the fridge.

. . . then settles down to eat

Having found some food, the obviously starving intruder sits down on the sofa to eat it.
