The telephone rings . . .

At number 10 the phone rings, but Jaclyn is very reluctant to answer it;  

. . . and Jaclyn answers it

when she finally does, she finds that it is Dylan calling.   “Please don’t put the phone down,” he begs, 

"I'm not going to lie for you"

and she makes it clear that she is not going to lie for him.

“I wouldn’t ask you to – are you OK?   I’ve only got two minutes – you know I’ve been charged and I’m in front of the magistrates today,” he goes on, and his sister hopes that he admits everything.   “It was an accident – OK?   And I’m so sorry for what happened!” he exclaims.

"You left the Deri without checking I was alive"

“You left the Deri without checking that I was still alive!” she snarls, “You saved your own skin.”   He wants to know if she has made a statement.   “You’re worried that I’ll drop you in it,” Jaclyn says, and he insists that he does not want her to change her story.

"You're on your own from now on!"

“Good – because I’m not going to do that again!   You’re on your own from now on!”   He points out that she is recovering and there is no permanent damage;  “Not to my body, anyway,” she replies, and he stresses that he has been so worried about her;  she is the most important person in his life, and he tells her, whatever happens, she should remember that he loves her.

She puts down the phone . . .

This has brought tears to her eyes as she puts down the phone, then immediately picks up her mobile 

. . . but then picks up her mobile

and debates whether to call someone else.

It appears Jason is back on the gambling

Jason’s phone notifies him that he has won £20, but he hides it away when Anita comes into the room;  

"He's asleep – at last!"

“He’s asleep – at last!   But he did enjoy himself in the park,” she says.  

Jason is grateful to her for taking him;  

"Nothing I did worked, did it?"

“Nothing I did worked, did it?” he groans, and she points out that the child is missing his mother.   “Yes, it’s been a big shock to him,” Jason agrees.

"His mother just upped and left him!"

“Poor thing – his mother just upped and left him!” Anita adds, “Don’t get me wrong – you’re doing a great job, but your patience is wearing thin, 

"Everybody needs a break"

“and everybody needs a break.”   

Jason could certainly do with a break

Jason would indeed really appreciate a break.

"Did he put pressure on you?"

Jaclyn has contacted Garry, who asks, “Did he put pressure on you to take his side?” but she has decided not to help him any more.   

"If he has an ounce of compassion . . ."

“If he has an ounce of conscience, he’ll admit what he did,” Garry continues, “That would be a clear sign to Daf that he'll take all the flak.   Then Dani and the children will be safe.”

He has still heard nothing from Dani, 

"Dani will be back"

but Jaclyn is confident that she will come back.

Tesni has gone to Y Felin to confront Siôn;  

"I have to talk to you, Siôn"

“I have to talk to you,” she begins, 

"I heard that you like me"

“I’ve heard something – that you like me.”   

"Of course I like you"

He points out that of course he does;  she is young and popular – there is no reason not to.

“No, more than that,” she goes on, as he begins to look worried, 

"That you're in love with me"

“That you’re in love with me.”   

"How do you know?   Who told you?"

He demands how she knows – and who told her.

Aaron is getting stuck in

In the Deri, where Aaron is industriously cleaning the bar, Hywel goes to sit with Mathew;  

"Thank you for being there for Rhys"

“I’m glad I’ve bumped into you,” he says, “I wanted to thank you for being there for Rhys – it’s been a big help.”   

"I only listened"

Mathew points out that he has simply listened, 

"You showed concern"

but Hywel appreciates that he showed concern and persuaded Rhys to talk, which is not an easy thing to do for lads of their age.

"I'm glad he's getting along better with you"

Mathew is just glad that he is recovering, and is getting along better with his father, who admits that he has made some mistakes, 

"I don't want to see him in that state again"

but does not want to see Rhys in that state again.   Mathew is likewise glad that things did not go too far.

Hywel remarks, “We need to look to the future now – how’s Izzy?   

"Excited about moving into the new house?"

“Are you excited about moving into the new house?”   

Mathew regrets that the house is nothing more than a tip, which was even condemned by the survey, so they would not get a mortgage.   Hywel says that is bad news, as Izzy has been talking about nothing else.

When he hears that they cannot afford anything else that is available, Hywel has an idea;  

"Would you consider buying my house?"

“Would you consider buying my house?” he asks, “I’m thinking about selling, now the tenant’s moved out – and Rhys is happy enough at Llwyncelyn.   If he wants his own place, I can help him buy it.”

"I'll have to talk to Izzy first"

Mathew will have to talk to Izzy first, but thinks that it sounds an ideal solution.

An imposing edifice . . . 

In front of a large imposing building with a brass plate on the door, 

. . . where Aled is standing outside

Aled can be seen;   

"If I find out your father's told you . . ."

Garry also approaches, commenting, “I hope you’re not here to support him.   If I find out your father’s told you where Dani is . . .” 

"He hasn't – and why should I tell you?"

“He hasn’t, right?   Anyway, why should I tell you?   It’s your fault I don’t have a job!” Aled snarls.   Garry replies that he does not employ wasters.   “You still owe me my wages – or shall I take you to court?”   

"I'd like to see you try!"

Garry invites him to try it.

A police van arrives . . .

They see a police van arriving, 

. . . and Dylan is escorted from it

and Dylan is escorted from it;  

Then DI Wilkinson passes them

then DI Wilkinson approaches, looks at them and proceeds into the courtroom.   Garry and Aled continue waiting.

"There aren't many places still available . . ."

Jason is looking on his phone for places to go;  “There aren’t many places still available – not Bluestone or Center Parcs.   Everywhere’s full – 

". . . I've left it too late, haven't I?"

“I’ve left it too late, haven’t I?”   Anita insists that it does not matter where they go – as long as they have a bit of a change, and it will distract Ifan from his mother.

"We could go camping!"

“Hey, we could go camping,” Jason says, and when asked whether Kelly will go with them, he replies, “If Kelly wants a break too, she’s better off staying here.”   

"You look tired, especially in the mornings"

Anita maintains that he looks tired, especially in the mornings;  

"I haven't had a good night's sleep since Sara left"

he confesses, “I haven’t had a good night’s sleep since Sara left.   Ifan’s crying in his sleep now – can’t you hear him?   If I don’t get up there quickly, he wakes up, upsets himself and then nobody sleeps for ages.”

Anita remarks that she has not been disturbed by them, 

"I cwtch Ifan, which helps"

and Jason explains that he cwtches Ifan, which helps;  “Sometimes, if I’m lucky, he goes back to sleep before I do.   

"Please don't let him sleep too long this afternoon"

“Please, Anita, don’t let him sleep too long this afternoon,” he says, before he leaves for work.

"You should never have found out!"

“You should never have found out!” rages Siôn, “Anita had no right to tell Kelly.”   

"I thought you hated me"

Tesni had been under the impression that he hated her, and that was why he gave her the sack.   

"I had to knock in in the head"

He explains, “I had to knock it in the head – I’m sorry – forget about it.”

Tesni had no idea that he felt like that;  “I looked forward to going to work every day – and I miss it.   

"I've realised it's more than just a job"

“But I’ve come to realise that it’s more than just a job.”   

Siôn looks puzzled

Siôn looks puzzled 

"I've got feelings for you, too!"

as she continues, “What I’m trying to say is I’ve got feelings for you, too!”   

Now he is horrified

Now his expression is more like horror.

An announcement to the press

Garry and Aled have been joined by members of the press as Dylan’s solicitor announces from the steps of the courtroom, “In the light of the fact that my client, Mr Dylan Ellis, denies all the charges against him, 

"He'll be remanded in custody"

“he’ll be remanded in custody until the hearing moves to the Crown Court.”

"Didn't even have the guts to confess"

“He doesn’t even have the guts to confess,” Garry sneers, and points out to Aled, “Dani and the kids are in danger unless he takes the blame.”   

"Dylan loves Dani"

Aled stresses that Dylan loves Dani, and Garry growls, “That’s the sort of person he is!”

Dylan is on his way back to the van

At that moment we see Dylan being led back to the police van, and he calls to Aled, 

"Finding you was the worst thing to happen to me!"

who responds, “Finding you was the worst thing that ever happened to me!   You only love yourself!”   Dylan disappears into the van.

"Jason, hammer fixings?"

At APD, Izzy is on the phone to a customer and asks Jason if they have any 150mm hammer fixings;  he is too busy staring at his phone to take any notice.   She will check their stocks and phone the customer back.

Then he realises what is happening

Then Jason volunteers that he will go and check the hammer fixings, although he is doubtful they have 150mm.   

She cannot resist looking at his phone

He has left his phone on the counter, and when there is a message alert, Izzy cannot resist having a look.

A message from 'Jackpot 4000'

The message from Jackpot 4000 reads, “Special Offer!   24hr deposit deal!   Deposit £30 and get £90 in free bets!   Play now!”   

Then Jason catches her . . .

She looks very concerned, and as Jason returns with the correct size fixings, he is angry to see her with his phone.   

. . . and is furious

She apologises, and when he sees what is displayed on the screen, he throws down the fixings and walks away.

"How would you like to live next door to the Deri?"

Mathew comes in and enquires, “How would you like to live next door to the Deri?” 

This comes as a shock

which comes as a shock to her.

Garry goes to the garage office . . .

Garry unlocks the office of the garage, opens a drawer 

. . . finding the petty cash tim empty

and takes out a cashbox, which he finds is empty.

"Nothing is going to happen between us"

At Y Felin, Siôn makes it perfectly clear that nothing is going to happen between them.   

"But if we both feel the same way . . ."

“But if we both feel the same way . . .” she argues;  he is adamant that they should not be having this conversation.

"It's just not right!"

“It’s just not right – the age gap, to start with!   I’m old enough to be your father – grandfather almost!” he exclaims, “Imagine what people would say!”   

"Loads of couples have an age gap"

She points out that loads of people with an age gap are in a relationship, but he answers, “Not as much of a gap as is between us – 

"There's something perverted about it!"

“there’s something perverted about it!   

"Can you go, please?"

“Can you go, please?”   She snatches up her bag and rushes out of the house.

Garry explains his reasoning

Garry has taken the empty cash box back to the Deri flat;  “The petty cash,” he announces, “The only person who knew about this, besides Gerwyn and me, was Dani.   It makes sense that she took it, if she needed cash in a hurry.”

"Someone could have forced her"

Tyler suggests that someone could have forced her to take the money, 

"No, I don't think so"

but Garry dismisses this, and Britt can see that he has a Deri.   

"I think it was Dani's choice to disappear"

“I think that it was Dani’s choice to disappear – she left her phone and cards so no-one could track her.   She took the £400 cash – which means that Dylan’s telling the truth, for once.   He has no idea where she is.”

"What's our next move, then?"

Tyler wants to know what is the next move, and Garry produces a small book;  

"All Dani's contacts are in this book . . ."

“All Dani’s contacts are in this book – 

". . . we're going to phone them all"

“we’re going to phone them all, and ask them to leave her a message.”

Siôn yells at Anita

Siôn has gone to Bryntirion and shouts at Anita, “Why did you tell Kelly?   And why did she tell Tesni?”   

"I didn't name Tesni"

Anita insists that she did not name Tesni, and Kelly must have worked that out for herself;  

"Did it turn her stomach?"

she wonders if the idea turned Tesni’s stomach.

"She said she wants a relationship with me"

He replies, “As it happens, she came over and said she wants a relationship with me.”   

"That's disgusting!"

Anita is incredulous, describing it as disgusting.   “That’s why I didn’t want her to know,” he says, and Anita suspects that Tesni is pulling his leg.

"You've betrayed me!"

“I told you because I trust you, and you’ve betrayed me!” he rages.

Aled watches Aaron

Aled sits in the Deri, watching Aaron working behind the bar.   

"Hywel wants us to go round there now"

Mathew tells Izzy he has received a message from Hywel, telling them to go round there now;  “Isn’t it exciting?”   

"I shouldn't have touched your phone"

She goes to the bar to settle the bill and encounters Jason;  “About this morning – I shouldn’t have touched your phone?” she apologises, and again he tells her to forget about it.   “You haven’t started gambling again, have you?” she asks, “A message popped up on your phone.”

"No, I haven't started gambling again!"

He stresses that he has not started gambling again, but she is worried about him.   He explains that he knows where to get help.

"He's in a critical condition in ICU"

Britt is speaking to someone on Dani’s contact list;  “Yes, he is in a critical condition in the ICU, so if you hear from Dani, can you please let her know?”   

"It's not right to pretend I'm in hospital!"

Tyler is not at all happy with this plan;  “It’s not right to pretend I’m in hospital!” he complains, 

"She'll be back in a shot when she hears"

but Garry is confident that she will be back in shot when she hears the news.   

"Yes, he's in a coma!"

Then he makes another call, explaining that Dani’s brother has been in a serious accident, adding that he is in fact in a coma.

Jason deploys his contactless card

In the Deri, Jason pays contactlessly for his meal, 

"Can you get me another one?"

and then Aled, who is still sitting there, asks Aaron for another drink.   

Aaron considers he has had enough

He is told that Aaron is unable to serve him, and in any case considers that Aled has had enough.

"Do you sell stuff under the counter?"

“Do you sell stuff under the counter?” Aled asks, 

"You should be in jail, too!"

“My Dad’s in jail – and that’s where you should be too!”   Aaron replies that he has learned his lesson, 

"Uncle Garry gave you a job, did he?"

but the complaining continues, “Uncle Garry gave you a job, did he?”

"Why are you so angry with me?"

Aaron cannot understand why Aled is so angry with him;  

"Because you're a spoilt brat!"

“Because you’re a spoilt brat – that’s what the problem is!   What is it about the Monks?   You never blame each other!”   He storms out of the pub.

Meanwhile, Mathew and Izzy are next door

Mathew and Izzy are next door, at Hywel’s house;  

"Perhaps we'll have a bottle of champagne"

“Perhaps we’ll have a bottle of champagne if we strike a deal,” Hywel suggests, and Izzy is very excited.   

"It's a good way of saving money"

“It’s a good way of saving money – for you and me.”   Mathew enquires if he is sure that he wants to sell.

Hywel is reminded of the building's shortcomings

“Yes – I’ll give you a price by the end of the week,” Hywel tells them, but is reminded that the ceilings need replastering, and the windows are not too special, so these things need to be tken into account.

Aled approaches the chippy . . .

We see Aled in the street, outside the chip shop;  

. . . picks up a handy projectile . . .

he picks up a convenient stone 

. . . and shatters the glass of the door

and launches it at the door, shattering the glass.   

He surveys his handiwork

He looks around and then walks away.
