Work goes on at Penrhewl 

Jinx arrives early for work at Penrhewl, saying that he wanted to impress the new boss, then realising that it is a joint venture, 

"Oh, sorry – bosses!"

so he refers to the bosses.   

He is sent on his first errand to the lower field

He is sent to get organic potatoes from the lower field;  the boxes are already out there.   He sets off to work with a will.

Jason is reading the Western Post 

Anita comes in through the back door of Bryntirion and sees Jason reading the Western Post;  

"It's all over the front page!"

she is alarmed to see what is all over the front page.   

"Yes, it's terrible, Anita

Jason agrees that it is terrible, and she complains, “Everyone will see it and read it now – I’m so embarrassed!   The Parris have been living in my house – 

"They'll think Dylan was running everything from there!"

“everyone will think Dylan was running everything from there!”   

Jason thinks she is exaggerating

Jason is sure that is not true.

“They seemed a respectable family,” she goes on, “It’s not your house, Jason, is it?   

"What if they've hidden money – or drugs?"

“What if they’ve hidden money in the cupboards?   Or drugs in the walls?”

"If there's money, you should move back there . . ."

He suggests that if there is hidden money in the cupboards, she ought to move straight back there.   “You’re trying to get rid of me now!” she moans, but he insists that if she is worried about the house, she needs to give them their notice, as these things can take time.

". . . before Operation Julie turns up"

“Do it now – before Operation Julie turns up there and kicks the door down!” he warns, rather melodramatically.   Anita immediately rushes from the house, 

He hopes to get rid of her

while Jason looks rather pleased with himself.

"The chip shop is a bit of a mess"

Aled comes into the Deri, where Aaron is behind the bar;  “I saw the chip shop just now – it’s a bit of a mess, isn’t it?   

"Any idea who did it?"

“Any idea who did it?”   

"I'll have a cup of coffee"

He asks for a cup of coffee, and Aaron will bring it over;  

Aaron has his suspicions

he looks suspicious.

"I know where everything is, Dad"

Iolo has been called to fix a plumbing problem at the bookshop, and reminds his father that he knows where everything is, having worked there before.   

"Delivery for Mr White"

Then a stranger comes into the shop, announcing, “Delivery for Mr White.”   

He is welcomed by Siôn, who asks if everything he has ordered is in the box.   

"How strong do you think I am?"

“How strong do you think I am?” is the reply, “I’m picking up the rest from the depot now.”   Siôn offers him a cup of coffee before he goes, 

"Have you turned the water off yet?"

and enquires if Iolo has turned off the water yet, which he has.

"I'm back and forth, and you can't offer me a coffee?"

Iolo seems quite impressed by the stranger, who comments, “I’m back and forth getting your stock, and you can’t offer me a coffee?” he says sarcastically, 

"Ryan, this is my son, Iolo"

and is introduced to Iolo as Ryan.

“He’s helping me with a big order, and I was hoping they’d be on the shelves by this afternoon,” Siôn explains, so Ryan agrees to go and get the rest now.

"Do all delivery people talk to you like that?"

“Do all delivery people talk to you like that?” Iolo demands, and is told that Ryan is not only a delivery person, but is helping his father with marketing and things.

"He knows his stuff – and he's a nice bloke"

“He knows his stuff – and he’s a nice bloke,” Siôn adds;  Iolo obviously agrees with this evaluation.

Sioned is in a hurry to finish

At the farm, Sioned wonders where Jinx has got to with the potatoes;  “You might not be in a hurry,” she tells her mother, “But I want to go out tonight!”   Eileen says that Jinx is not used to farm work.

Jinx eavesdrops on their converation

He has just come in through the front door, and hears Sioned commenting, “He’s probably keen to get out of that flat with Ffion!   

"I'd rather be in a field full of potatoes!"

“I’d rather be in a field full of potatoes than stuck in that flat with her!”   

"She's not that bad, Sioned"

Eileen replies that she is not that bad, but Sioned has not finished yet;  “Perhaps not, but she’s got problems, hasn’t she?   I'm sure there’s a lot more going on behind that door than we realise.”

Then Jinx accidentally makes his presence felt

Unfortunately, Jinx sneezes, betraying his presence, so he goes into the room, 

He quickly goes to get another box

puts down the box and leaves to collect another one.

Aaron has nothing to do

Aaron seems to be at a loose end in the Deri, as he is piling up empty disposable cups on each other, which does not seem to impress Cassie.   

"Don't you have anything better to do?"

She goes over to Aled, and remarks that his coffee must be cold by now;  “Don’t you have anything better to do?”

“There’s nothing to do round here when you’re skint!” is the gloomy reply, and she imagines that the salon does not pay enough.   

"I don't work there any more"

“I don’t work there any more,” Aled groans.

"I'm looking for a barman to help Aaron"

Coincidentally, Cassie happens to be looking for a barman to help Aaron;  she will give him a trial, to see how it works.   

Aaron is not impressed

Aaron does not seem particularly keen on this idea, but Aled is grinning.

"I'm not here officially"

Anita visits number 10;  “I know a landlord is supposed to give a warning before visiting, but I’m not here officially – I’ve just come to see how you are.   

"Things must have been difficult for you"

“Things must have been difficult for you recently.”   

"This Dylan business has been dragging on a bit"

Jaclyn agrees that the business with Dylan has been dragging on a bit.

“I’m sure things are very difficult for you,” Anita continues, 

Anita scans the room

looking very conspicuously all around the room.   She explains that she was just looking at the walls;  

"I was admiring your taste"

“I always forget how much work you’ve done here – there’s no problem – I was just admiring your taste.”   

"I left my phone upstairs"

Jaclyn’s suspicions have already been roused, and just then, her phone sounds;  “Sorry, I left it upstairs,” she says, and goes up to answer it.   

Anita continues looking for drugs

In her absence, Anita continues peering inquisitively around the room.

Jason (almost) closes the laptop

Jason is looking at something on the laptop at APD when Izzy comes in, so he closes it;  

"I'm going to pop over to Llanybydder"

“I’m just going to pop over to Llanybydder to check on the job for Mrs Jones,” he says.   

"We've already given her a quote"

Izzy protests that they have already given her a quote;  “But we want to make sure we get the work – we need to show we’re keen,” he reminds her.   She points out that they do not want to look desperate.

"Stuffing Jaffa Cakes and surfing Facebook"

“I like keeping busy, Izzy – not everyone’s like you, you see – happy to just sit there, stuffing Jaffa cakes and surfing Facebook all day!” he snarls.

Izzy investigates the laptop . . .

She opens the laptop, which has not been properly closed, 

. . . in particular, Jason's bank records . . .

and discovers Jason’s bank account records, which she studies closely,  

. . . which she finds interesting

and appears to find something very interesting.

Ryan is back with another box

Ryan returns with another box of books;  “Don’t tell me you’ve turned the water back on just to make me a coffee?” he teases.   

Siôn will go and fetch the coffees

Siôn will go and fetch it now, presumably from the Deri, and then they can go through the new catalogue.

Ryan starts chatting up Iolo

Ryan and Iolo look at each other;  “Perhaps I could buy you a coffee some time,” Ryan suggests, “Or a glass of wine instead.”   

His approach is rejected

Iolo says that he is touched, but he cannot.   

Who is that in the background, chatting to Beti?

“Don’t tell me you like girls?” Ryan sneers, and Iolo explains that he is married, pointing out his ring, and adding that they have a little girl as well.

“Listen, you’re not the first to turn me down – and you won’t be the last, either,” Ryan replies, “We could still go for a drink if you want – casual.”   

"That would not be sensible"

Iolo looks sorely tempted, but does not think that would be sensible.   “Do you always have to be sensible?” wonders Ryan.

Anita continues her search . . . 

Now Anita is looking in the cupboards, under the sink and everywhere else, 

. . . but cannot locate any hidden compartments

but when she is tapping on the walls, Jaclyn comes downstairs and demands if she has found anything.   

"Perhaps we could knock down the rest of this wall"

She improvises that perhaps they could knock down the rest of that wall to open up the room.

"What did you expect to find?"

“Don’t insult me, please – what did you expect to find?” continues Jaclyn, 

"Things that should not be here"

and is told that there might be things there that should not be.   

"Like drugs?"

“Like drugs?   Is that how little you think of me?” Jaclyn demands.

"Is everything all right?"

Just then, Tesni comes in through the back door and detects that all is not well.   “Anita was just going home to Y Felin,” replies her mother.

"I don't live in Y Felin any more"

“As Tesni knows, I don’t live in Y Felin any more,” says Anita, 

"That's why you want to throw us out!"

and Jaclyn concludes that is why she is looking for a reason to throw them out.   

Anita makes a hasty retreat

Anita denies that is her intention, and rapidly takes her leave.

"I don't think I want to stay in Cwmderi any more"

Jaclyn tells her daughter that Anita was only saying what everyone else in the village is saying;  “If everyone’s talking about us, I don’t think I want to stay in Cwmderi any more.”

Ffion recovers from her run

Ffion has come back from a run, and gets herself a drink of water;  when Jinx comes in she tells him he has some post.   

"I gave this place as a temporary address"

“That’s from Taid’s solicitor – I gave this place as a temporary address,” he replies.

"When's your furniture arriving?"

Ffion wonders when his furniture will be arriving, 

"I'm not trying to get my feet under the table"

but he assures her that he is not trying to get his feet under the table.   

"It's nice to have you here – like the old days"

“No, it’s nice to have you here – like the old days,” she says.   

“It sometimes feels like I’ve never been away,” he confesses, 

He points to the letter . . .

and points towards the letter on the arm of the sofa, which she misinterprets as a desire to sit next to her, and invites him to do so.

. . . which Ffion misconstrues

“Come here,” she smiles, and is very disappointed 

"No, I meant the letter"

when he points out that it is the letter he wanted.   

Now she feels a 'proper charlie'

She now feels a total idiot.

Tyler is chopping vegetables

Tyler is preparing a meal when Iolo returns to number 7;  

"I sorted the job out straightaway"

“I sorted the job out straightaway,” Iolo reports, and is asked why he was so long, in that case.   “You know how Dad can talk, when he has company,” is the reply.

"You look happier than usual"

Tyler considers that Iolo looks happier than usual;  

"You're usually a right miseryguts"

“You’re usually a real miseryguts after spending hours with your father.”   

"I can come home to a perfect husband"

Iolo extravagantly maintains that he is happy because he can come home to a perfect husband after a morning’s work.   

He is of for a shower before lunch

Tyler will make sure that the soup is ready by the time he has had a shower.

"Mrs Jones needs more time to think"

Jason returns to APD, advising that Mrs Jones needs more time to think;  “I told you there was no need to rush,” Izzy admonishes him, and he stresses that they need the work.

"Why do we need the work so much?"

“And why do we need the work so much?” she demands, “Something to do with the £5,000 that’s missing?”   

She shows him the laptop screen

She turns round the laptop, where his bank details are still displayed.   

"Still checking up on me, are you?"

He is surprised that she is still checking up on him, but she points out that he has made it very easy.

"A professional gambler should cover his tracks better"

“I’d expect a professional gambler to know how to cover his tracks better.   Math and I are trying to buy a house – we don’t want problems because of your gambling!”

"I'm not gambling, Izzy!"

He again exclaims that he is not gambling;  “I borrowed the money to pay for a holiday for Ifan, if you must know.”   

"Must be a very special holiday!"

She imagines it must be a very special holiday to cost £5,000, 

"Designed for Ifan's needs"

and he explains, “It is a special holiday, especially designed for Ifan’s needs – so that he can have some fun after a difficult year – right?”

Izzy is by no means convinced

Izzy does not appear completely convinced as he goes on, “I’ll pay back every penny, I promise – just don’t spoil this for Ifan!”

Aled had not mastered the beer pumps

Aled seems to be having difficulties with the beer pumps on the bar;  

"I feel sorry for whoever has to drink that!"

Aaron feels sorry for whoever has to drink the pint which he has just pulled.   

"You're too young to do it yourself!"

Then he is reminded by Aled that he is too young to do so himself, but insists that he has watched more pints being pulled, and that is not the way to do it.

“I understand that the beer has to go in the glass,” Aled growls, 

"My new team is getting on well"

as Cassie comments that her new team is getting on well, and Aled maintains that they get on well together, a feeling not shared by Aaron.

When asked whether she should take him on, 

"If you have to!"

Aaron sighs, “If you have to!”   

"You'll have to pull a better pint than that!"

She will give him a job on one condition – that he pulls a better pint.

"Taid's will is all completed"

Jinx comes back into the room with the solicitor’s letter;  “Everything’s done with Taid’s will,” he says, 

"I can sell that wreck of a car, then"

and Ffion remarks that now she can sell that wreck of a car.

"Look, Jinx, we should talk about it"

She continues. “Look, Jinx, about earlier – we should talk about it.   Nothing happened – this time.”   

"You mean there may be a next time?"

He takes that to mean there may be a next time;  

"Would that be a bad thing?"

“Would that be a bad thing?” she wonders, and he cannot believe that she is serious, 

"After the way you treated me last time?"

after the way she treated him last time.

Ffion insists that she has changed, but he knows better;  “No – you just want me to think you’ve changed – you’ve been lying since I got here.”   She denies this, 

"Tell me again why you're not driving"

but he asks, “Tell me again why you’re not driving.   Why can’t you just be honest with me?”

"I'm trying to leave that in the past"

She maintains that she is trying to leave all that in the past;  “Forget it and move on.”   

"It doesn't change the people you have hurt"

He reminds her that it does not change what she has done – the people she has hurt – the mess she has left behind.

"I'm dealing with it the best way I can"

She is trying to deal with things the best way she can;  “And it doesn’t matter how that affects anyone else.”   Ffion says that makes her sound selfish, and he agrees:  “You are selfish – you didn’t bother coming to see Taid when he was ill – and now you’re expecting me to forget everything that’s happened, 

"You fancy 'giving things a go'?"

“because you fancy ‘giving things a go’.   It doesn’t work like that, Ffion!   The things you say and do affect people.”

"I'd like you to leave now"

Her expression changes and she would like him to leave now, so he picks up his few belongings and heads for the door.  

"You've changed, Jinx"

 “You’ve changed, Jinx,” she says, sadly.

"Well, at least one of us has"

“Well, at least one of us has,” he replies, as he leaves the flat, 

Ffion is very upset

and Ffion is very upset.

Jason carries in a radiator

Jason carries a radiator into APD, 

"I'm going home now"

and Izzy informs him that she is going home;  he agrees that she has done enough for today.   “I’ve been thinking,” she adds, 

"Thinking?   That's good!"

which Jason regards as a good thing.   

"Pay it back by the end of next week"

“I won’t tell anyone that you’ve borrowed £5,000 – on one condition.   That you pay it all back by the end of next week!”

"How do you expect me to do that?"

He demands how he is expected to do that, 

"That's not my problem"

and she answers, “That’s not my problem – I’m being generous, giving you any time.   The end of next week – and if it’s not all back in the account by then, I’ll tell Math!   

"Do you know what?   I'll tell Kelly as well!"

“And do you know what?   I’ll tell Kelly as well!”
