Britt welcomes Aaron back

Aaron returns from his the referral scheme and is welcomed back by his mother and Colin;  he tells them not to embarrass him.

"Everyone probably thinks I've been on remand"

“Everyone probably thinks I’ve been on remand,” he says, as Aled is approaching along the road, and goes into Chi a’r Ci.

"No, the whole village knows you've been assessed"

“No!” Colin assures him, “Your mother has made sure that the whole village knows that you have been away being assessed.”

"You've been exploited, Aaron"

Britt adds that he was exploited, and has nothing to be ashamed of.

Garry ignores Aaron's shout

Aaron shouts across to Garry, but is ignored;

"Not everyone is pleased to see me"

“Not everyone is pleased to see me,” he groans, but his mother explains that he is worried sick about Dani and the children.

"You need some of Col's home cooking"

Colin proposes to go and put the frying pan on;  “You need some of Col’s home cooking.”

"Have you heard anything, Gar?"

Britt asks Garry if he has heard anything;

"They are Monks, after all"

he is starting to wonder if the police are taking Gwern’s and Seren’s safety seriously;  “They are Monks, after all!   The children are bound to be asking about me.”

"Has that scum father of yours given you any clue?"

Aled puts the sign outside the doggie parlour, and Garry demands, “Has that scum father of yours given you any clue where Dani is?”   Aled replies that he is not in contact with Dylan,

"If you're hiding something . . ."

but Garry snarls, “If you’re hiding something . . .”   Aled angrily stresses that he is not, and Garry walks away.

"Your jeans shrunk in the wash, have they?"

In the shop flat, Izzy is regretting eating those crisps, and Mathew presumes that her jeans must have shrunk in the wash.

"I'm going to start jogging and go on a diet"

“They fitted perfectly a month ago – I’m going to start jogging and go on a diet, starting now!” she declares.   Mathew says that he quite likes curves, and she remarks, “I always put on weight when things are going well –

"Life's great at the moment"

“and life’s great at the moment!   I’ve got a fab boyfriend, we’re buying a house together . . .”

"Not so fast, Izzy"

He tries to stop her there, but she continues, “The first thing we going to do is decorate from top to bottom – what do you think of these colours for the bedroom?”

She has been planning the bedroom

as she displays a large card, covered in pictures.

He will leave it to her to make decisions like that, but she should not expect him to wield a paintbrush;

"You'll be too busy, doing the fitted wardrobes"

“You’ll be too busy, doing the fitted wardrobes,” she replies.

"Come to the Deri with me, if you want"

At number 7, Tyler is toying with his breakfast, as Iolo advises he is going off to do a job at the Deri;  “Come with me, if you want, instead of sitting here, worrying.

"There's no evidence Dani's been kidnapped"

“Look, there’s no evidence that Dani has been kidnapped – you’re getting ahead of yourself.   Spending time with me in the Deri might occupy your mind.”

Tyler sits there, without a word

Tyler just sits there and says nothing, so Iolo leaves.

"Before you ask, I haven't heard anything

Tyler is scared when the back door bursts open, but it is only Garry;  “Before you ask, I haven’t heard anything,” he growls, but Tyler is worried that someone else is going to be kidnapped.

"If it's happened to Dani . . ."

“If it’s happened to Dani . . .” he panics, but is advised by Garry to chill, or he will make himself ill.   “It’s all right for you, Garry – you know how to handle yourself!” Tyler shouts, and it is pointed out to him that Garry is also very worried.

Garry clutches Seren's blanket

Seren’s blanket has been returned to him by the police and he holds it to his nose.

Jason is wolfing down his lunch

Jason is ravenously eating his lunch

"Has your massive headache disappeared?"

as Kelly wonders, “Has your massive headache from this morning and last night – and the night before – disappeared?”

"I haven't been drinking enough water"

He answers that he has not been drinking enough water, and she says that is supposed to be her excuse.

How can any normal male NOT be 'turned on' by Kelly?

“What is it, Jase?   I’m worried that I don’t turn you on any more – you jump out of bed straightaway when the alarm goes.”

"I've got a lot on, Kelly"

He points out he has a lot on, and did not even have a proper lunch hour.   Sitting down, Kelly insists, “I’m trying to have a serious chat, Jason.”

He says that he is not complaining, but having Ifan there all the time is a lot of work.

"Do you remember the last time?   Ten days ago!"

Kelly adds, “I’m not complaining either, and I don’t want to put pressure on you – but do you remember the last time . . ?   Ten days ago!”

"It's not easy with Auntie Neet in the next room"

He is amused that she is keeping count, and points out that it is not easy with Auntie Neet in the next room.   “I miss the close contact . . .

"I miss us, Jase"

“I miss us,” she goes on, but at that inopportune moment, Anita comes into the room.   Kelly says that she is going to the Deri for lunch, but Jason is in a hurry to get back to work, as he is expecting a delivery.

"In case I catch you in a clinch – or worse!"

Aware that she has interrupted something, Anita resolves she will knock next time she comes down;  “In case I catch you in a clinch – or worse!”

"I wish!"

Kelly turns and ruefully mutters, “I wish!”

"I want to help Aaron move on"

Britt tells Colin that she wants to help Aaron move on and become a confident young person.   “That’s why you and Garry have made plans for him,” is the reply;  and she hopes that he will agree.

"Agree to what, Mam?"

He comes in and wants to know what it is that he is to agree;  “It’s important that you have something to do in your spare time,” his mother begins,

"And you can earn a penny or two"

and Colin adds that it will be a chance for him to earn a penny or two.   “How would you like to work for the family?”

"No way I'm working in the chip shop"

Aaron draws the line at working in the chip shop, but it is a brand-new job that Britt is suggesting;

"Come with me, Aaron"

she invites Aaron to go with her.

"You threw up over the bar, not me!"

Jinx is reminiscing with Izzy;  “No, you threw up over the bar, not me!” he emphasises, but she disputes this.

He is given some adhesive

He has come for some adhesive to repair shelves in the bookshop.

"It takes a few hours to dry . . ."

She gives him the helpful advice that it will take a few hours to dry, so he should make sure he uses clamps,

". . . so you'll need these clamps"

which she supplies for him.

He thinks that he is settling in well, and she is pleased to see him, hoping that he enjoys his DIY.

Izzy has a crafty biscuit

Mathew has just come in the back and catches Izzy eating a biscuit;

"I thought you were on a diet"

“I thought you were on a diet,” he reprimands her, and her excuse is that she is going for a jog after work.

“Is the true reason you want to lose weight that your ex is back?” he suggests,

"There was no love between me and Jinx"

but she answers that is old news, and there was no love between her and Jinx.   Mathew asks if she is sure of that.

“Doesn’t the fact that we’re buying a house say it all?” she demands,

"Have we had the survey back yet?"

and he enquires if they have had the survey back yet, as the mortgage company needs it as soon as possible.   “I’ll chase it up – but we don’t need to worry, do we?

"You said the place was as solid as a nuclear bunker!"

“You said the place was as solid as a nuclear bunker!”

Jinx meets someone on his way out of APD

Outside APD, Jinx is chatting to a stranger,

Then he sees, across the road . . .

and as he turns towards the bookshop, he is noticed by Kelly,

. . . Kelly, leaving the shop

on the other side of the road;  she cannot believe her eyes.

"Blast from the past!"

“Blast from the past!” she says, and he tells her she looks great;  “My next line is, ‘and so do you’, right?” she laughs.

Jason is watching

Jason is about to go into APD and sees them talking.

"It was a last-minute thing"

“Well, I’ve still got my hair and my teeth, at least,” Jinx jokes, and she wonders why she was not warned he was coming back.   He describes it as a last-minute thing;  “I’m staying with Ffion until I find somewhere to live.”   Kelly seems pleased that it is not just a flying visit, and he will see what sort of welcome he gets.   “I was sorry to hear about the café,” he goes on.

"You've been talking to Cwmderi's Wikipedia"

She realises, You’ve been talking to Cwmderi’s Wikipedia – Siôn White, man!   Anyway, I have to go – catch up soon, OK?”

"Looking forward to it already"

Jinx is looking forward to it already.

Jason is feeling threatened

Jason, still peering around the corner, is feeling suspicious.

"You're making this job up to keep me out of trouble"

Up in the Deri flat, Aaron is less than enthusiastic about the proposal;  “A café in the Deri?” he exclaims, “You’re just making this job up to keep me out of trouble.”

"Somewhere that serves doughnuts and milkshakes"

His mother is adamant that the village needs a café;  “Somewhere that serves doughnuts and milkshakes – the Deri will be perfect.   Garry needs someone to work here while Dani is away.”

"Finding Dani and the children is the priority"

He tells her to get her priorities right;  “Finding Dani and the children is the priority now, not me.”

"You'll have something to do – isn't that right, Garry?"

She points out that it is important he has something to do, apart from his school work.

"If you don't want it, we'll find someone else"

Garry, who has kept silent until now, tells Aaron, “If you don’t want the job, we’ll find someone else.”   Aaron’s reply is that he is grateful, and wants to know if he will be getting paid;  his mother promises that he will get the going rate, so Aaron asks when they want him to start.

Izzy is adamant there has been a mistake

Izzy is on the phone, and is sure there is some mistake;  “Are you sure you’ve sent the survey for number 9 Maes-y-Deri?

"Well, you can stuff your survey!"

“Well, you can stuff your survey!”

Mathew has just come into the flat, and she angrily tells him, “According to this, nothing’s right there!   There’s dry rot, the slates are loose, it needs a new roof and there is subsidence at the back!   You checked, didn’t you?   They must have made a mistake!”

"You can't talk to people like that, Izzy"

He warns that she cannot talk to people like that, but she insists they should not send faulty surveys;  “We’ll take photos to prove that the survey is wrong,” she insists.

"We don't want Aaron being scalded"

As Iolo is working on the hot water tap on the bar, Colin is offering what he regards as helpful tips;  “We don’t want Aaron being scalded.”

"Is it right Aaron will be working in this 'café'?"

Aled calls Colin  across, wanting to know if Aaron will be working in this ‘café’.   “Yes, this is the Monks’ new venture – it will fill the void left by the café.”

"Lucky devil!"

Aled regards Aaron as a lucky devil, and Colin rather scathingly remarks to Iolo, “Turning the place into a bookshop wasn’t one of your father’s wisest decisions!”   Tesni maintains it is a good place for people to meet.

"I'm surprised you're defending Mr White"

“I’m surprised you’re defending Mr White, after he showed you the door,” Colin says, which causes Aled to chuckle.

"Why did he sack Tesni, then?"

Then he goes over to ask Iolo why his father sacked Tesni;  Iolo has no idea, and points out it is none of his business.

Colin wonders what is wrong with him today,

"Do you think I'm still hot?"

and Iolo demands, “Do you think I’m still hot?”

Colin does not know what to say

Colin is rather taken aback by this question, so he is asked again, “Do you think I’m still hot, after the operation?

"I feel like Tyler's been avoiding me"

“I feel like Tyler’s been ignoring me.”

He is reminded that Tyler has been going through a difficult time, and must be very worried about Dani;

"You're quite a dish, I'd say"

“But yes, you’re still quite a dish, I’d say, just about.   Just give Tyler some time.”

"Do you want to escape from this hole?"

Aled enquires if Tesni has any plans today;  “Do you want to go somewhere?   Escape from this hole?”

"I'm in the middle of tidying the house"

Tesni is in the middle of tidying up the house, and it is a lot of work, since her mother cannot do anything.   “Are you saying that I’m a nuisance?” Aled growls,

"Everyone hates me, thanks to Dylan!"

“You’ll probably kick me out – everyone hates me, thanks to Dylan!”

Tesni protests that no-one lets her forget that Dylan is her uncle;

"Not everything's about you, Aled!"

“Not everything’s about you!”   He gets up and storms off.

At Bryntirion, Kelly and Anita are sitting quietly

At Bryntirion, Kelly and Anita are sitting in silence when Jason returns home;

"Is there anything worth watching on the box?"

he asks if there is anything worth watching on the television.   Anita suggests they could watch a box set, if they want,

She receives an icy stare from Kelly

but when Kelly gives her a very disapproving look, she changes her mind and decides to go for a walk.   Ifan is already fast asleep.

"It would be nice for you to have some time alone"

“It would be nice for you to have some time alone,” she says and leaves the house.

"What did she mean?"

“Right, what was that just now?   What did she mean?” enquires Jason.

Kelly has asked her to give them a little bit of space;  “For you and me to  . . .

"Do I have to spell it out for you?"

“do I have to spell it out to you?”

She begins untying her robe . . .

She provocatively unties the robe which she is wearing, and invites Jason to go upstairs with her.

. . . and Jason enthusiastically follows her

He needs no second bidding.

Chi a'r Ci is all locked up

Garry finds the doggie parlour is locked up, and demands from Aled, “Why is this place closed?   You’re supposed to be working!”

"There are no bookings"

The reply is that there are no bookings.

"Pull your finger out, then!"

“Pull your finger out, then – phone the customers!” Garry shouts, “Tell them the place is open!”

"Everyone wants Dani"

“Everyone wants Dani – I can’t do it without her!” Aled complains, but is told that a lot of people are missing Dani more than he is.

"Why give Aaron that job?"

Aled’s next whinge is, “Why give Aaron that job?   I could run that café.”

“Your father almost ruined Aaron’s life,” Garry snarls, and is warned not to pick on Aled because of him.

Garry takes delight in sacking him

He is told, “You’re sacked – that’s what happens to people who don’t turn up for work!”

"I feel like a right idiot!"

When they arrive back at the shop flat, Izzy moans, “I feel a right idiot, telling that woman to stuff her survey!   Why didn’t you notice there was so much wrong with the place?”

Mathew has been making assumptions

Mathew wrongly had assumed that the house was solid, like most of the houses on that estate;  “It was my mistake – I admit it – but I wanted to be quick.   I was scared of getting gazumped.   I knew how much you wanted the place.”

"We may as well forget about it"

“We won’t get a mortgage – we may as well forget about it,” she accepts, “You should have checked it properly, instead of letting me make plans.   You’re an idiot, do you know that?”

"But you still love me, don't you?"

He points out that she still loves him,

"I can't understand why!"

but she cannot understand why;  he promises that they will find somewhere else.

Kelly appears somewhat disappointed

After whatever it is they have been doing upstairs, Kelly and Jason come back down;

"Don't be upset, Kelly, I'm sorry"

“Kelly, don’t be upset,” he urges, “I’m sorry.”

“You can’t use the fact that Auntie Anita was in the next room, either,” Kelly sighs,

"It's never happened before – at least with you"

and he assures her that it has never happened before, at least it has never happened with her before.

"I know – you're shattered – you said"

She sneers, “I know – you’re shattered – you said.”

"Other things on my mind – like Jinx"

He reminds her that he has other things on his mind at the moment, like Jinx, perhaps;  “I saw you talking today – what were you talking about?   Me, perhaps?   The fact I can’t keep you happy?   You were laughing about something.”

"Do you seriously think I'd do that?"

“Do you seriously think I’d talk to Jinx about you?” Kelly squeals,

"I don't expect Jinx ever had that trouble"

and he imagines that Jinx never had such trouble.   She admits, “Perhaps I was a bit giggly because it was weird seeing him after all these years – but do you know what it reminded me of?

"At least I had a laugh with him!"

“At least I had a laugh with him!”   She rushes upstairs, and slams the bedroom door.

Tyler hears something outside

Tyler hears a noise outside, and looks anxiously through the window;  then he hears Aled’s voice;

"Everyone hates me round here"

“I want some company – everyone hates me round here,” Aled whines;

"What am I supposed to do about it?"

Tyler demands what he is expected to do about it.   “Be there for me – we’ve been through so much together.”

"Dylan has put everyone in danger!"

Tyler protests that he is worried about Dani, shouting, “Dylan has put everyone in danger – it’s all his fault!   Now go, before Iolo gets back!”

"Everyone has turned their backs on me"

Aled pleads for help, as everyone has turned their backs on him.

"Don't use that to come between me and Iol!"

“No – don’t you use your situation to come between me and Iol!” rages Tyler, “Get out!”   Aled complies with this order.

Tyler puts down his glass of water

As Tyler sits down on the sofa, Garry hurries in and warns him not to touch Seren’s blanket;

"It's just that it smells of her, you know"

“They found it lying at the side of the road – it’s just that it smells of her, you know.”

Tyler protests that he cannot live like this, on edge all the time;  “We have no idea who they are, what they want, where they are.   They want revenge –

"It's obvious – you or I will be next!"

“it’s obvious – you or I will be next!   They’ll go after Dani’s family!”

Garry says that he has been watching too many films;  “If they want to come after us and scare us – great!

"Dani would have to be alive for that to work"

“Dani would have to be alive for that to work.

"If we have to take a beating – great!"

“If we have to get a beating to make sure that Dani and the kids are safe, great – we’ll take a beating!   And we just have to accept that.”
