Sioned, on her way to open up the deli . . .

As Sioned is approaching the door of the deli,

. . . is accosted by Diane

Diane asks her, “Have you talked to DJ yet?   Dai said you were going to persuade him to come home.”

"I haven't had a chance to talk to him"

Sioned replies that she has not had a chance to talk to him yet

"Phone him now, before you start work"

and is told, “Phone him now, then, before you start work.”    Sioned appears to have no intention of doing that.

Griffiths is about to go into Tomos ac Ellis

Just along the street, Griffiths is about to unlock the door of Tomos ac Ellis when Anita chases after him;

"You left without your sandwiches"

Ieuan, you left without your sandwiches.”

"You're bankrupt!"

He insists that she did not need to prepare anything for him, but she reminds him, “It will save you buying lunch – you’re bankrupt.”

He urges Anita to keep her voice down and asks where she is going now;

"I've sold a lot of clothes online"

“I’ve sold a lot of clothes online and I’m going to send them now,” she answers, “And I’m going through your clothes tonight!”

"Have you head from Kylie Williams?"

Britt welcomes a police officer, who we have not seen before, into number 21;  he asks if she has heard from Kylie Williams.

"Not since she stayed with us"

“No, I haven’t heard from her at all since she stayed with us,” Britt lies, “To be honest, there are several places she could be.”

"Have you found Yvonne?"

At that moment Colin comes downstairs and imagines that they have found Yvonne;  Britt points out that they are looking for Kylie, who has run away from the children’s home and Colin confirms that they have not heard anything,

"We'll let you know if we see her"

but will inform the police if they do.

Colin switches on the kettle

The police officer leaves the house and Colin switches on the kettle, but maintains that he is not still angry with Britt.   He is going to get changed for work.

"Didn't you have a delivery, Col?"

Worried that he will go upstairs again, Britt reminds him, “Didn’t you have a delivery arriving half an hour ago?”   He looks at his watch and rushes out of the house,

Kylie comes downstairs

just as Kylie cautiously comes downstairs and is told that the police are looking for her.

"Come and sit down, love"

Britt sits Kylie down on the sofa.

Jason moves bags of compost

Out the back of APD, Jason is shifting some bags of compost when Mathew comes out;

"The wanderer returns!"

“Well, well, well,” he says, “The wanderer returns!”

"I've got a lot on, Mathew"

Jason protests that he has a lot on.   “Why didnt you tell me – or answer the phone?” Mathew wants to know,

"Do you know how many jobs I've had to cancel?"

“Do you know how many jobs I’ve had to cancel because you haven’t been in work?”

“Well, I’m here now, so give me a list of jobs, instead of complaining,” snarls Jason.

Then Kelly arrives . . .

Then Kelly comes through the door

. . . and Mathew gets the impression they want some privacy

and indicates to Mathew that they would appreciate a bit of privacy, so he goes back inside.

"Are you free at half twelve?"

“So are you free at half twelve today?” she asks

"I can be"

and he agrees that he can be.   “Good – we need to tell Auntie Neet and Diane – today – half twelve – Deri.   Less chance of Diane trying to murder me in a public place!”

"Couldn't we tell them by text?"

Jason suggests that they could tell them by text,

"Deri at half twelve"

but Kelly repeats the time and expects him to be there.

"Where did you stay last night?"

Where did you stay last night?   I do worry about you, you know,” he continues, “Of course I do.”

She replies that Cheryl and Mark Jones put her up in Maes-y-Deri, for which she is very grateful, as she did not have much choice.

"Sorry about last night"

He adds that they did not have much choice either, but is sorry about last night.   She assures him that she does not hold a grudge against him, as she knew it was going to happen at some point.

"Slightly sooner than expected, like"

“Slightly sooner than expected, like, but we’re cool.”   Jason looks extremely mournful as she walks away.

"What are you doing, Sioned?"

Eileen walks in to find her daughter putting clothing into black bags and asks what she is doing.

"Packing DJ's stuff"

“Packing DJ’s stuff.”

“You still haven’t told him?” her mother demands and Sioned has decided that it is over;  she does not want DJ back.

"It's never going to be over"

Her mother insists, “It’s never going to be over – you’re carrying his baby.   He deserves to know!”

Sioned is determined that she is not going to listen to this and Eileen is equally determined that she will inform DJ, in that case.

"If you do, I'll never talk to you again!"

If you do, I’ll never talk to you again!” exclaims Sioned;  she is told that she is hardly speaking to her mother now and that Eileen does not have a choice.

"What's wrong, Sioned?"

“What’s wrong, Sioned?   Why don’t you want him to know?” Eileen demands.

"There's a crisis in Pwllgwili"

Mathew is on the phone to a customer;  “We’ll get started in no time – we’ll sort it,” he promises, then informs Jason, “There’s a crisis in Pwllgwili – a customer’s bedroom ceiling has collapsed.   I said we’d go over now.”   Jason advises that he has to be back by 12:30, but Mathew is doubtful that they will be finished by then.

"I've got an important meeting"

“I’ve got an important meeting, sorry – it’s none of your business.”

Mathew makes it clear that it is his business during working hours;

"You need to put this company first!"

“You need to put this company first – your head’s all over the place at the moment.   Get a move on!”

"Kelly and I have separated"

Jason is forced to reveal, “Kelly and I have separated.”

Mathew is shocked by this

This stops Mathew in his tracks.

Ieuan is eating in the Deri . . .

Griffiths is eating a meal at the Deri;  his phone rings and he immediately rejects the call.

. . . when he spots Anita . . .

When he notices Anita coming in,

. . . and tried to hide his plate

he attempts to hide his meal under the table.

“Where are the sandwiches I gave you?” she asks and he explains that he cannot eat egg and cress in the office.

"You're bankrupt, Ieuan!"

Once again, she growls, “You’re bankrupt, Ieuan!”   He protests that it is only a small lunch.

"I'm trying hard to keep a roof over our heads"

“I’m trying hard to keep a roof over our heads,” she goes on, “And you’re here, eating like a king!”

"I may have exaggerated a bit"

He says that perhaps he over-exaggerated a bit last week and that it is a cash flow problem at Tomos ac Ellis, that is all.   “You told me you had a huge debts!” she remarks and he agrees that the business was in a bit of a hole,

"Treat yourself to a nice little gin and tonic"

but he has been to the bank and everything is sorted.   He invites her to treat herself to a nice little gin and tonic, as she deserves it.

"Enjoy your lunch"

This comes as a great relief to Anita, who tells him to enjoy his lunch;

Yet another rejected call

then his phone rings again and again he rejects the call.

"Sounds like they've got something important to say"

Anita joins Diane, who asks her, “Do you know why Kelly’s arranged this meeting?” but Anita has no idea.   “It sounds like they’ve got something important to say,” Diane suggests.

"Perhaps Kelly's pregnant!"

“Perhaps Kelly’s pregnant,” Anita replies, without a shred of evidence;  Diane finds this prospect quite exciting.

"A divorce can be messy"

As they sit outside APD, Mathew asks if they have started the legal stuff yet;  “You know, a divorce can be messy, can’t it?”

"Kelly and I are all right"

Jason insists that he and Kelly are all right.   “You say that now, but people change when you start talking about assets and money and stuff,” Mathew goes on,

"She took all his savings, more or less"

“I remember Dad saying that when he and Mam divorced, she took all his savings, more or less.”

"We're talking about Kelly here, remember"

Jason is sure that it will not come to that;  “We’re talking about Kelly here, remember.”

"Do you have enough to cover?"

Mathew enquires if he has enough to cover her side of the settlement – he is just asking, that is all.   By this time Jason is looking worried.

“Look, I’ll go over to Pwllgwili to see how much damage there is and we can both go over there this afternoon,” Mathew proposes and Jason continues to sit there with a concerned look.

"I found it hard in the children's home"

At number 21, Britt tells Kylie, “I found it hard at times in the children’s home, you know – so I’m not going to force you to go back – I promise.   I’ll think of something now.”

Kylie seems happy there

Kylie smiles, but just then the front door opens and Colin can be heard shouting, “I’m useless – I forgot my phone!

"Is there any news about . . .?"

“Is there any news about . . ?”

"Kylie?"

He opens the door and finds Kylie sitting there.

They are rather 'jumping the gun' here

Anita and Diane, jumping to conclusions, as so often happens in Cwmderi, are ordering a bottle of bubbly and four glasses from Geraint.   Anita wonders if they should get an orange juice for Kelly, but is assured that a sip will not do any harm.

"I didn't mean a bottle of champagne!"

Ieuan comes in, looking very serious and is invited to join them;  “Look, when I said to treat yourself, I didn’t mean a bottle of champagne,” he moans.

"What are we celebrating?"

Mathew is the next to come in and asks if they are celebrating something;  “Are you going to tell me what?”

"Promise not to breathe a word?"

Anita swears him to secrecy,

"I don't think you should tell him, Anita"

but Diane does not think they should tell him.

“Kelly’s pregnant – I can’t believe I’m going to be a grandmother again!” says Anita, forgetting the fact that she is not Kelly’s mother.

"I should think he must do"

When Mathew asks whether Jason knows, Diane imagines that he must do, but Mathew appears very concerned, with Anita wondering why he is not happy for them.

"It complicates things – with the divorce"

“Well, of course I am – but it does complicate things a bit, doesn’t it?” he stresses, “With the divorce.”   They cannot understand what he is talking about, and he thinks that he may have misunderstood,

Kelly and Jason arrive

but then Kelly and Jason come in, surprised by the welcoming committee.

"Is it true, Kelly?"

“Is it true?” asks Anita.

“Are you getting a divorce?” asks Diane

They were not expecting this

Jason and Kelly look bemused at them.

Tempers appear to have cooled a little

Sioned and her mother are sitting on the sofa in a more amicable fashion  than of late;  Sioned explains, “It’s so hard having to tell people you’ve had a miscarriage – and having to do it time after time.

"Most of them say stupid things"

“And then having to listen to people trying to fill the silence – most of them say stupid things, like ‘you can try again’, ‘there must be a reason this has happened’.   It doesn’t help the first time, never mind the second time.   But if it happens a third time . . .”

"I said all those things to you"

Her mother remember saying all those things to her;  Sioned adds that DJ also said them.   “He didnt know what else to say, did he?” says Eileen.

"He should have known what to say"

“He should have known what to say to make me feel safe,” Sioned argues, “Or let me know he understood, at least.”

"I don't think he really wanted a baby"

Eileen is upset that she felt like that;  Sioned doubts that he really wanted a baby.   “I don’t think his heart was in it this time, either.

"I don't want to get my hopes up"

“There’s a chance it will happen again, Mam – so I don’t want to get my hopes up – or anyone else’s.”

"I won't say a word"

Eileen agrees that she will not say a word to DJ, for which Sioned is grateful.

"I really hope things turn out differently this time"

“And I really hope things turn out differently for you this time,” she assures her daughter.

"The police have been looking for her"

Colin is angry;  “The police have been looking for her since yesterday.   Has she told you where she was last night?”   Britt replies that she has not and he growls that Kylie should not have put them in this position.

Kylie hears the argument

Kylie has been listening to all this from the other room

"I'm sorry"

and comes in to apologise.

"There's a lot on my mind at the moment"

Colin begins, “Kylie, I’m not sure how much Britt has told you, but there’s a lot on my mind at the moment.   I don’t think now is the best time for you to come and stay with us.   Perhaps when I’m feeling a bit better . . .”

"Yvonne's still affecting our lives!"

Britt snarls, “Do you know what?   Yvonne might as well still be here, because she’s still affecting our lives!   You’re not thinking about Kylie, or you’d let her stay.”

"Hide her in the spare room?"

“All right, then – what’s your grand plan?   Hide her upstairs in the spare room?” he shouts.

"It worked last night"

“Well, it worked last night – and the police didn’t find out,” comments Kylie.

"You were here?"

Colin is furious that he did not know this and Britt points out that it was only one night.

"You might not ever foster again!"

“You might not ever foster again if they find out,” he warns, but Britt is adamant that they will not find out, because they will sort something out now.

“I’m fed up with my family getting into trouble with the police!” Colin exclaims,

"We're going to do this the right way"

“We’re going to do this the right way,” as he gets out his phone and dials a number,

"Please, Colin!"

while Kylie urges him not to do it.

"You've been her before"

Around the table in the Deri, Diane reminds Kelly and Jason that they had been here before and got through it;  Anita adds that every marriage has its blips.

"This is not just a blip"

Jason insists that this is not a blip,

Ieuan's pestering phone calls continue

as Ieuan’s phone rings yet again and he rejects the call.

"I've already moved out"

Kelly advises that she has moved out and Cheryl is putting her up for a couple of nights.

"She can stay with us, can't she, Ieuan?"

“Cheryl?   No, you can come and live with us, can’t she, Ieuan?” Anita insists.   He agrees that she is welcome, but says that he has to go,

"Very sad news about your marriage"

and is very sorry to hear the sad news about their marriage.

"Does Jinx have anything to do with this?"

Predictably, Diane asks, “Does Jinx have anything to do with this?   Your affair with him is at the root of all the problems you’ve had.”

"It takes two to ruin a marriage!"

Anita maintains that it takes two people to ruin a marriage.

“You would say that,” sneers Diane,

"We've made the decision together"

but Jason insists they have made this decision together and he is asking them to respect that decision.

"Don't expect Jason to give you any money!"

“Well, there we are, then – but don’t expect Jason to give you any money!” Diane snarls at Kelly;

"We'll sort out the assets when we'e ready"

replies that they have agreed to sort out the assets when they are ready.   In answer to Auntie Anita, Kelly says there is no need for a solicitor.

Diane will phone her niece, Elin, but Jason is not in favour of this, pointing out that he has already done it, which comes as an unpleasant surprise to Kelly.

"You've done what?"

“You’ve done what?” she squeals, as Diane regards it as a very sensible move.

“Elin will make sure you don’t get fleeced,” Diane tells her son.

“I thought we agreed to sort this out between you and me!” complains Kelly,

"Well, Mathew thought I should

and he replies that Mathew thought he should . . .

"Don't you trust me?"

“Mathew?   What does Mathew know about divorce?   Don’t you trust me?” Kelly demands.

"You've proved you're good at deceiving"

“Why should he?” snaps Diane, “You’ve proved you’re good at deceiving – and remember this, Kelly – Jason has a son to think about.”

"Do you seriously think I'd stab them in the back?"

“Do you seriously think I’d stab Ifan and Jason in the back?” Kelly rages, “Right, OK, I’d better find a solicitor!”   As she storms out of the Deri, Diane assures Jason that he is doing the right thing.

Griffiths is shredding papers

At Tomos ac Ellis, Griffiths is busily shredding documents when Kelly walks in,

Kelly wants her pay

complaining, “Well, my pay is a day late and I really need it now, because apparently I need a solicitor – and their fees are sky-high!”

"Why are you shredding the accounts?"

Then she looks at what he is doing and demands, “Why are you shredding the accounts?”   He maintains that he is trying to get things in order and that there is to much paperwork.

"This one is last month's"

She picks up one of the documents, which she finds refers to last month, so he grabs it and is about to put it through the shredder

Another phone call

when his phone sounds again.

"This one has your home address . . ."

She picks up something else which looks important and finds that it bears his home address;  he is very eager to get it from her, but she reads what it says.

". . . why are the bailiffs after you?"

“Why are the bailiffs after you?” she demands.

Kylie is escorted from the house

A social worker has come to take Kylie away and as soon as she has left, Colin insists that he had to do this,

"You've ruined it all now!"

Britt does not agree;  “Do you remember how much time it took for Kylie to trust us?   Well, you’ve ruined it all now, because you have sent her back to the exact place she was trying to get away from.

"You haven't been the same since Yvonne left . . ."

“You haven’t been the same since Yvonne left –

". . . you've let her destroy everything"

“you’ve let her destroy everything for us!”

Colin is left in a terrible state

She storms off upstairs.

"Kelly's not getting a penny of your money"

As they walk across the road from the Deri, Diane instructs Jason, “Make sure Elin fights tooth and nail for you with this divorce.   Kelly’s not getting a penny of your money!”

"Kelly doesn't want my money"

He insists that Kelly does not want his money;  “Yeah, well, that’s what she says now, but believe me, the house and your share in APD will be in her name if you’re not careful.”

"Isn't Dai waiting for you?"

Jason points out that Dai will be waiting for her, and she volunteers that she could stay with Jason tonight if he wants company, but he points out that he will be fine with Ifan.

"He'll need more care than ever, Jason"

“He’ll need more care than ever now, Jason,” she laments.

"These are DJ's things"

Sioned comes out of the alley, carrying two black sacks, and spots Diane;  “I’m glad I’ve seen you – these are DJ’s things.   I was going to take them to Apêl Maenan – as you’re here, you can take them home.”

"Have you asked him to come home?"

“Have you asked him to come home?” Diane demands.

Sioned answers that she has not and is not going to, either;

"I don't want him here!"

“Because I don’t want him here – and you can tell him that, too!”
