"You can't just do that!"

Iolo has obviously been doing some cooking, as he is wearing an apron as he speaks on the phone;  “What?   No, I wanted a big one – you can’t just do that!”  Greta comes in with Siôn and Iolo announces that there is a problem with the ‘doughnut wall’, and warns his father not to go into the kitchen, as it is a disaster.

"Greta didn't want to leave school early"

Siôn reports that Greta did not want to leave school early and her teacher was not happy, but Iolo insists that she has to get ready for her party.   

"I've got a really special dress for you upstairs"

“I’ve got a really special dress for you upstairs.”

"Dad, I don't want a party"

“Dad, I don’t want a party,” she tells him, and when he protests that he has a princess coming to the party, 

"I don't like princesses"

she continues, “I don’t like princesses,” and disappears upstairs, much to Iolo’s surprise.

"She says she likes dinosaurs now"

Siôn informs him, “She says she likes dinosaurs now,” 

"Right – I'm going to cancel everything!"

 Iolo decides he is going to cancel everything, and to tell that princess to go home as there is now no point.   

"Greta, we have to go to the shop!"

When he has gone, Siôn calls upstairs to Greta, “Come down, love, we have to go to the shop!”

"The toilet seat is down"

In the Deri, Kath remarks, “Do you know what, Cassie?   After living with men for years, it’s lovely to go to the bathroom and the toilet seat is down.”   Cassie can see that she has passed the test, and is told that she will have to give Brynmor some tips when he comes back – whenever that will be.

"I will have found somewhere else by then"

Cassie is confident, “I will have found somewhere else by then.”   Kath apologises that Cassie really thought she would have the place to herself.

"I really enjoy your company"

“I really enjoy your company, though,” she adds, but Cassie maintains that this arrangement suits them both, 

"Until we get this place up and running"

until they get the place up and running.

Then Cassie is given a lecture

“Listen, one thing is starting to get on my nerves – please don’t put empty milk bottles back in the fridge,” Kath goes on, 

A delivery arrives

just as a delivery person comes into the Deri with a parcel.   “Oh, look – it’s here!” says Kath and invites Cassie to open it.

Dani unpacks shopping

At number 7, Dani is unloading her shopping bags and appears rather angry with Mark;  

"I didn't see anything, Dani"

“I didn’t see anything,” he assures her, but she does not regard that as the point and he agrees to get a new lock from APD today.

"I like going to the bathroom without an audience!"

“Good, because I like going to the bathroom without an audience!” she snaps, and again he repeats that he did not see anything.   

"Do you think one bathroom is enough?"

Then she wonders, “Do you think that one bathroom is enough for us all?   I think the house is bit small.”

"What's that noise?"

They hear a noise upstairs 

Mark picks up a handy saucepan . . .

and Mark arms himself with a saucepan to ward off the intruder, 

. . . but finds it is only Gwern

until he discovers that it is Gwern.   

"You should be at school!"

“You should be at school!” Dani tells him, but he simply says that he did not want to go.

"I get the house in a couple of weeks"

“What’s the point?   I get the house in a couple of weeks,” he adds, and Dani is speechless.

"I've cancelled everything"

Iolo comes back and advises his father that he has cancelled everything, but in his absence Greta and Siôn have been shopping.   

Siôn has all the arrangements in hand

“We’ve bought plenty of balloons and goodies – she wanted a small party, didn’t she?   And I’ve phoned a few parents, who are bringing their kids after school.”

"I don't have a cake, Dad"

When Iolo complains that he does not have a cake, he is told, “You’ve got plenty of time to make another one – we picked up more flour as well, as half the packet we had was all over the kitchen – and you.”

"The horn looked like a . . ."

“Greta wanted a unicorn cake, like the one I did last time because Tyler was there.   He laughed when he saw the cake – it was terrible, because the horn looked like a . . .   I just wanted a perfect party.”   

"A perfect party is what she will get"

Siôn is quite confident that is what she will get.   “Thanks to you,” Iolo groans.

“I was exactly the same as you after losing your mother,” replies Siôn, “Do you remember Macs’ party at that outdoor place?”   Iolo does remember that they were all too small for every activity and smiles at the memory.

Siôn gives him a hug

“It’s difficult, isn’t it?” he sighs, and Siôn gives him a hug.

"He said to just phone him"

As they walk towards the Deri, Gaynor tells Cheryl, “He gave me his number and said if I need anything, just to phone him.”   

The new sign to go over the door

Then they see Kath and Cassie standing outside the door with the new licensee sign for the pub, 

"I don't trust you up a ladder"

and Cheryl volunteers to put up the sign, as she does not trust either of them up a ladder.

She wonders how they are going to celebrate, and Cassie answers, “We shall sell pints and packets of nuts,” 

"How about karaoke?"

but Kath is of the opinion that they should do something to celebrate now that it is official, like karaoke, for instance.

She thinks that Brynmor has a machine somewhere, and says that her favourite song is, ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’.   

"I've heard you murder that a hundred times"

“Yes, I’ve heard you murder that a hundred times,” Cassie comments, adding that her song is Defaid William Morgan [William Morgan’s Sheep], which causes some hilarity.

"I can start tonight, if you need the help"

Cheryl can start work tonight if they need the help, but they think they can manage;  Gaynor proposes that she and her sister can have a night out, and Kath maintains that they must get a move on, as they have vol-au-vents to prepare.

"It's all about 'blinis' now

“Vol-au-vents?   What era are you living in?   It’s all about ‘blinis’ now,” Cassie points out.

"After selling the house, then what?"

Dani is interrogating Gwern;  “And after selling the house, what then?”   

"I'll live off the money"

He replies that he will live off that money and she demands, “How long will that last?   Gwern, it will all be gone in a couple of years, tops, so then what?”

"Without qualifications?"

He proposes that he will find a job;  “Without qualifications?” she snarls, 

"What qualifications do you have?"

but he demands what qualifications she has – or Mark.

"We want you to have a better life than us"

“That’s not the point – we want you to have a better life than us,” Mark argues;  Gwern answers that he will, because he will have plenty of money in the bank.

"Who told you about the house?"

Dani wants to know who told him about the house;  

"I heard you talking to Cassie"

“I heard you talking to Cassie.”   After a moment’s silence, Dani stipulates that he is not playing with his Xbox all day.   “I’m not, OK?   I want some peace,” he growls and goes upstairs.   

"He won't listen to us anyway"

Mark advises her to let him go, as he will not listen to them anyway.

"Do you know what time you go in?"

In the hospital, DJ is very anxious about Sioned’s operation;  “Do you know what time you’re supposed to go in?”   She calmly replies that it should be in about ten minutes.

"You do know what ICD means?"

“You do know what ICD means, don’t you?   It’s Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator.   Online, it says it does three things – pacing, cardioversion and . . .”

"The doctor has already explained"

She says that the doctor has already explained this, 

"It's only as big as a matchbox"

and he points out that it is only slightly bigger than a matchbox.   “If my heart stops again, that small box will save my life,” she says, “I’ll be all right.”   

He is worried

DJ is not as confident, and she continues, “I’m sorry you had to see what you did on the field, 

"I'm not going anywhere"

“but I’m not going anywhere.”

The party guests arrive

The guests arrive for the birthday party, including Esther and Seren.   

"It's so stressful, Dani"

Iolo tells Dani that it is so stressful, and she is quite aware of that;  “Then they change their minds about what they want,” she says.   

"Dinosaurs are then way forward"

He informs her that princesses are out now – dinosaurs are the way forward.

"Who's ready for cake?"

Siôn announces someone has been busy in the kitchen all morning;  “Who’s ready for cake?”   Iolo assures Hywel that this time it does look like a unicorn.

Cai is unexpectedly back

Cai arrives without warning, and asks what is going on;  Siôn tells him that he is home early and Greta rushes across to greet him, 

"Come and dance, Cai"

inviting him to come and dance, but he is definitely not in the mood for that.   

"Cai, Cai, Cai!'

The children all chant his name repeatedly and Iolo tries to persuade him to join in.

"Leave me alone!"

Cai angrily demands to be left alone and Siôn, who has just brought in the unicorn cake, urges him to calm down.   

So now we shall never know what the horn looked like

Cai’s response is to roughly push him out of way, which makes Siôn drop the cake upside down on the table, 

Cai is not a very popular person

to the annoyance of all concerned.

Greta runs upstairs and Iolo decides, “You’d better go!” 

"You're not telling me what to do!"

but Cai insists that he is not going to be told what to do.   

The guests all hurriedly leave the house

Dani informs Seren that they had better go, and the rest of the guests follow suit, with Siôn handing out party bags as they leave.   

"I want to play musical bumps"

Esther insists that she wants to play musical bumps, but Hywel tells her that she can do that next time.

Siôn apologises to Hywel, 

"It's not your fault, is it?"

who responds, “It’s not your fault, is it?”   Siôn shakes his head in disbelief at his brother-in-law, 

"Sorry, Siôn"

and when Cai says he is sorry, 

"I don't want to hear it!"

snarls, “I don’t want to hear it!”

Kath does not like giving away free booze

Kath rather reluctantly takes bottles of Prosecco from their case, but Cassie stresses that it is only cheap stuff;  “The real champagne is behind the bar and is reserved for the two of us.”

"Drinking on the job, Cassie Morris?"

“Drinking on job, Cassie Morris?” asks Kath, and is told that they need to celebrate tonight and that one or two will not hurt.   

Mathew and Rhys arrive

Mathew and Rhys arrive, having heard that there was to be a party to celebrate.

“A little something to say good luck to Wales’ prettiest landladies,” says Rhys, handing over a card, 

'Congratulations'

proclaiming ‘congratulations’.   

"A free glass of bubbles"

Cassie will reward them for their loyalty and generosity with a free glass of bubbles, 

"Will you join us in a toast?"

and the ladies are invited to join them in a toast, 

"Iechyd da!"

but Cassie thinks it unwise to drink on the job.

"Do you feel any different?"

The procedure having been carried out, Sioned is now recovering and DJ brings her glass of water;  “Do you feel any different?” he asks.   

"A Bionic Woman"

She describes herself as, “A Bionic Woman.”   He offers to get her some sushi from the place she likes in town; she replies, “I appreciate everything you’re doing for me, 

"I don't want you coming to see me every day"

“but I don’t want you to come and see me every day from now on.   I’m worried about the deli – I’m step closer to coming home, and when I do, I want to come back to a successful business.   

"Forgetting orders"

“It won’t be, if you keep closing all the time – and forget orders.”

"Right – your mother's been telling tales!"

He realises that her mother has been telling tales, and Sioned continues, “I don’t want us to have to worry about money – you know I’m hard to live with when we’re skint.   You have to prioritise Tamed now – OK?   Anyway, if you keep bringing me food, we’ll need a crane to get me home.”   

"Yes, OK"

He reluctantly agrees to her demand.

"What – the whole cake?"

At number 7, Dani relates to Mark what happened at the party;  “What – the whole cake?” he gasps, “Poor Greta!   What’s wrong with that Cai?”

"I've got more important things on my mind"

She does not know, but has more important things on her mind at the moment than Cai Rossiter;  

"Have you seen Gwern since?"

“Have you seen Gwern since?”   

"Talk of the devil"

At that moment the door opens and he comes in, with a treat for everyone.   

"How could you afford that?"

Dani immediately demands how he could afford that, and he says that he used her card;  “That’s for emergencies!” she protests, and he protests he was trying to be nice;  

"I'll pay you back after selling the house"

he will pay her back after selling the house.   “You haven’t had the house yet!” Dani exclaims, but he gives her a chicken wrap with mayo, 

"I don't want it!"

 which she refuses.

“Do you want a chip, Mark?” he asks, and Mark is quite enthusiastic until he encounters the disapproving glare of Dani.

"I won't let this money ruin your life, OK?"

“I won’t let this money ruin your life, OK?” she snarls.

"Your dinner's in the oven"

Eileen is sitting in front of the television at Penrhewl when DJ returns;  “Your dinner’s in the oven,” she says, “I made your favourite to celebrate Sioned being a step closer to coming home.”

“I had something in the deli while I was sorting out the stock and the orders,” he tells her, 

"Don't worry – I paid for it"

“But don’t worry – I paid for it.   Now I shall have plenty of time, as I won’t be seeing Sioned every day.”

"I had to tell Sioned"

Eileen maintains that she is sorry, but she had to tell Sioned.   He thinks otherwise;  

"The last thing Sioned wants now is stress"

“No, you didn’t – I had everything under control – the last thing Sioned wants now is stress!”

Eileen has different priorities;  

"No – coming home to a failing business!"

“No, the last thing Sioned needs is to come home to a failing business!” she emphasises.

"All yon care about is the money!

“Don’t pretend you’re doing this for her, Eileen – you’re worried about the business – all you care about is the money,” he growls, and angrily walks out of the room.

Kathy is a bit unsteady already

Kath is getting stuck into the Prosecco and tells Cassie that she is going to make a speech.   She is told to wait for Mark to arrive with the microphone, so that everyone can hear.   

"Drinking on the job?"

Rhys approaches and is surprised to see Kath drinking on the job.   Cassie comments, “For someone so pretty, you can be a pain in the backside!”

"Haven't had that since I was in Mexico"

He orders two shots of tequila, and Kath recalls that she has not had that since she was in Mexico last year.   

"I thought the councillor should show his support"

Hywel joins them, as Cadi is babysitting;  he thought that the councillor should show his support.

"I fancy giving Maes-y-Deri a makeover"

Elsewhere in the Deri, Gaynor fancies giving Maes-y-Deri a bit of a makeover;  “Nothing major – just buying a few things to make it more ‘us’.”   

"I can't afford any more expense"

Cheryl cannot afford any more expense at the moment, but perhaps after she has had her first pay packet.

"I don't mind paying"

“I don’t mind paying,” Gaynor insists, 

"It's my home as well"

but Cheryl objects to this, as it is her home as well.   She will have a lemonade now as she needs a clear head before starting work tomorrow.

"You should try online dating"

At the bar, Rhys is making recommendations to his father;  “You should try online dating – Math and I can give you tips.”

Hywel replies, “With respect, boys, I don’t want your help to find a woman,” 

"Not that I'm looking at the moment"

and then he realises that Gaynor is standing next to him, so he adds, “Not that I’m looking at the moment.”

She reminds him that it is nothing to do with her, so she wishes him good luck in his quest.

"Do you realise how much stuff Brynmor has?"

Mark comes in, carrying the karaoke machine;  he complains, “Do you realise how much stuff Brynmor has?”

Kath introduces Cassie's song

Kath announces that they are now going to listen to a so-so version of ‘Defaid William Morgan’;  however we are not permitted to hear this rendering.

Cai is carrying a cake box

Siôn is reading a book when the door of Y Felin opens and Cai comes in, carrying a box;  “There wasn’t much choice at this time of night,” he explains and Siôn says that he did not have to do that.   

"Yes, I did"

“Yes, I did,” he insists.

"What's going on, Cai?"

“What’s going on, Cai?” Siôn asks, “You have talk to me.”

"They didn't want to see me"

“I thought I’d chance going up to see Lleucs and Twm, but they didn’t want to see me.   I’m starting to worry they believe everything that Nesta says about me.   Am I a terrible person?”   When Siôn denies this, he continues, “Why do I always feel like it, then?” and goes upstairs.

"I have nothing to say to Cai"

Iolo comes down and insists that he has nothing to say to Cai.   

"He's bought her a cake"

“He’s bought her a cake,” says Siôn.

"I don't want to live with Cai any more"

Iolo is adamant that he does not want to live with Cai any more;  

"He threatened you in front of Greta"

“It’s not fair on Greta or me – it’s not just today, is it?   He threatened you in front of her.”   

Siôn explains that he he is having a hard time, 

"I have to put Greta first!"

and is told, “So is Greta!   I’m sorry, but I have to put Greta first.”

"I'm not turning my back on Cai"

When Siôn insists that he is not turning his back on Cai, Iolo decides that he and Greta will move out;  

"It's us – or him!"

“You have to choose – it’s us or him!”
