Iolo has obviously been doing some cooking, as he is wearing an apron as he speaks on the phone; “What? No, I wanted a big one – you can’t just do that!” Greta comes in with Siôn and Iolo announces that there is a problem with the ‘doughnut wall’, and warns his father not to go into the kitchen, as it is a disaster.

Siôn reports that Greta did not want to leave school early and her teacher was not happy, but Iolo insists that she has to get ready for her party.

“I’ve got a really special dress for you upstairs.”

“Dad, I don’t want a party,” she tells him, and when he protests that he has a princess coming to the party,

she continues, “I don’t like princesses,” and disappears upstairs, much to Iolo’s surprise.

Siôn informs him, “She says she likes dinosaurs now,”

Iolo decides he is going to cancel everything, and to tell that princess to go home as there is now no point.

When he has gone, Siôn calls upstairs to Greta, “Come down, love, we have to go to the shop!”

In the Deri, Kath remarks, “Do you know what, Cassie? After living with men for years, it’s lovely to go to the bathroom and the toilet seat is down.” Cassie can see that she has passed the test, and is told that she will have to give Brynmor some tips when he comes back – whenever that will be.

Cassie is confident, “I will have found somewhere else by then.” Kath apologises that Cassie really thought she would have the place to herself.

just as a delivery person comes into the Deri with a parcel. “Oh, look – it’s here!” says Kath and invites Cassie to open it.

At number 7, Dani is unloading her shopping bags and appears rather angry with Mark;

"I didn't see anything, Dani" |
“I didn’t see anything,” he assures her, but she does not regard that as the point and he agrees to get a new lock from APD today.

"I like going to the bathroom without an audience!" |
“Good, because I like going to the bathroom without an audience!” she snaps, and again he repeats that he did not see anything.

Then she wonders, “Do you think that one bathroom is enough for us all? I think the house is bit small.”

They hear a noise upstairs

“You should be at school!” Dani tells him, but he simply says that he did not want to go.

“What’s the point? I get the house in a couple of weeks,” he adds, and Dani is speechless.

Iolo comes back and advises his father that he has cancelled everything, but in his absence Greta and Siôn have been shopping.

“We’ve bought plenty of balloons and goodies – she wanted a small party, didn’t she? And I’ve phoned a few parents, who are bringing their kids after school.”

When Iolo complains that he does not have a cake, he is told, “You’ve got plenty of time to make another one – we picked up more flour as well, as half the packet we had was all over the kitchen – and you.”

“Greta wanted a unicorn cake, like the one I did last time because Tyler was there. He laughed when he saw the cake – it was terrible, because the horn looked like a . . . I just wanted a perfect party.”

Siôn is quite confident that is what she will get. “Thanks to you,” Iolo groans.
“I was exactly the same as you after losing your mother,” replies Siôn, “Do you remember Macs’ party at that outdoor place?” Iolo does remember that they were all too small for every activity and smiles at the memory.

“It’s difficult, isn’t it?” he sighs, and Siôn gives him a hug.

As they walk towards the Deri, Gaynor tells Cheryl, “He gave me his number and said if I need anything, just to phone him.”

and Cheryl volunteers to put up the sign, as she does not trust either of them up a ladder.
She wonders how they are going to celebrate, and Cassie answers, “We shall sell pints and packets of nuts,”

but Kath is of the opinion that they should do something to celebrate now that it is official, like karaoke, for instance.
She thinks that Brynmor has a machine somewhere, and says that her favourite song is, ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’.

“Yes, I’ve heard you murder that a hundred times,” Cassie comments, adding that her song is Defaid William Morgan [William Morgan’s Sheep], which causes some hilarity.

Cheryl can start work tonight if they need the help, but they think they can manage; Gaynor proposes that she and her sister can have a night out, and Kath maintains that they must get a move on, as they have vol-au-vents to prepare.

“Vol-au-vents? What era are you living in? It’s all about ‘blinis’ now,” Cassie points out.

He proposes that he will find a job; “Without qualifications?” she snarls,

Dani wants to know who told him about the house;

“I heard you talking to Cassie.” After a moment’s silence, Dani stipulates that he is not playing with his Xbox all day. “I’m not, OK? I want some peace,” he growls and goes upstairs.

Mark advises her to let him go, as he will not listen to them anyway.

In the hospital, DJ is very anxious about Sioned’s operation; “Do you know what time you’re supposed to go in?” She calmly replies that it should be in about ten minutes.

The guests arrive for the birthday party, including Esther and Seren.

Iolo tells Dani that it is so stressful, and she is quite aware of that; “Then they change their minds about what they want,” she says.

Siôn announces someone has been busy in the kitchen all morning; “Who’s ready for cake?” Iolo assures Hywel that this time it does look like a unicorn.

Cai arrives without warning, and asks what is going on; Siôn tells him that he is home early and Greta rushes across to greet him,
