Cassie hopes that vitamin C will do the trick

As Cassie drops a Tesco effervescent high-strength vitamin C tablet into a glass of water, Kath comes into the room, looking very much under the weather.   

"I hope I look better than you"

She comments, “I hope I look better than you,” 

"No – worse!"

but is told that she looks worse.   

"What happened last night?"

“What happened last night, Cassie?” she asks.

"Champagne and tequila happened"

“Champagne and tequila happened last night – what came over us?” Cassie replies, and Kath trots out the usual response that she is never drinking again.   “And that karaoke machine is going in the bin,” Cassie instructs her.

'I can't remember going to bed"

Kath cannot remember going to bed and is embarrassed to be informed that Mark took her;  “He said that we were as bad as each other – we need to grow up and stop behaving like children!”   This makes the pair of them laugh, 

They are not keen to do any cleaning

and Kath imagines that they will have to clear up the place now, but neither of them seem particularly enthusiastic to do so.

Gaynor has cooked a special breakfast

At Maes-y-Deri, Gaynor has prepared breakfast for Cheryl, who wonders if her top is smart enough for the job.   

"Should I lose the earrings?"

“Should I lose the earrings?   Kath asked me to be there at 11, but I’m going early to clean – after last night.”

Gaynor invites her to sit down and enjoy the special breakfast, but Cheryl does not know how much she will be able to eat as she is so nervous.

"I think I'll pop over to Llwyncelyn"

She looks rather dubiously at what has been placed before her, as Gaynor realises, “A lot of my stuff is still at Llwyncelyn – I think I’ll pop over there while you’re at work.”

"Sorry – I can't eat this!"

Cheryl finds it impossible to eat;  “I’m not a big fan of fish anyway – and the thought of having it for breakfast . . .”   

"Hywel and I had it every Sunday morning"

She is told that Gaynor and Hywel had it for breakfast every Sunday morning.   

"I can't bear to sit around"

“I have to go – I can’t bear to sit around,” protests Cheryl, “Thanks, though, I really do appreciate it.”

"Greta wants pancakes for breakfast"

Iolo is preparing Greta’s lunchbox at Y Felin when his father comes downstairs;  “Greta wants pancakes for breakfast – do you want some?” he asks.

"Have you decided if you still want us here?"

“It depends – have you decided if you still want us to live here yet?” is Iolo’s reply.   

"I can't choose between you"

Siôn protests that he cannot choose between Iolo and Cai, as it is not fair, 

"Right, we'll move out, then"

so Iolo says that he and Greta will move out.   “We don’t have a lot of choice, Dad.”

Siôn will have a word with Cai and warn him to control his temper, but is told that there is no need;  “I’ll pop over to Tomos ac Ellis.”

His father insists that Cai is vulnerable;  “And my daughter is adjusting to living without her father,” counters Iolo, 

"She's not getting a happy home here"

“She needs a happy home and she’s not getting that here.”

Mathew is on his way to work

Mathew is on his way to APD when he sees Howard, 

Howard is loitering near the door of APD

peering through the door of the shop;  “Are you trying to break in?” he asks, 

"There's nothing of value in there"

and is sneeringly told that he does not have anything of value in there.

He goes on that he was checking if they were open;  

"I heard that you were back after being 'away'"

“Why?   We don’t have anything of value,” is Mathew’s response, “I heard that you were back after being ‘away’.”  

"News travels fast in Cwmderi"

Howard can see that good news obviously travels fast on Cwmderi.

Mathew wants to know if he is at Deri Fawr, 

"You look awful!"

and as he goes into the shop, Howard remarks that he looks awful.

Kath has a shock . . .

When Kath eventually comes down to the bar, she has a considerable shock when she finds 

. . . everything is tidy

that the place has been tidied up after last night’s festivities.   “Did you do this?” she demands, 

Cassie cannot understand it, either

but Cassie is equally astonished, 

Then they are surprised to see . . .

admitting that she could not have done it, even if she wanted to.

. . . Cheryl is already at work

The riddle is solved when Cheryl walks in, commenting, “You’re still alive then.   I thought you might need a lie-in this morning.”   

"I didn't leave the door open, did I?"

Cassie asks how she got in, hoping that she did not leave the door open overnight.   “I got some keys from Kath last night,” is the answer.

"That's never happening again – never!"

Kath makes it clear that last night was special;  “That’s never happening again – never.”   Cassie agrees that it will not happen again while they run the place.

"I need to get more bleach"

Cheryl now needs to go to get more bleach;  “That tequila didn’t agree with someone’s stomach last night,” 

"I'll get a bacon sarnie"

then suggests that as Cassie looks rather pale, that she might as well get a bacon sarnie while she is out.   Cassie would like that.

Kath turns to Cassie and instructs her, “Say it then!” 

"OK, I was sick in the toilet"

to which Cassie answers that she was the one who was sick in the toilet.   

"Say I was right to give Cheryl a job"

“No – not that!   Say I was right to give Cheryl a job – come on.”

Cassie concedes that she has been very good so far, but now she needs to lie down as the place is spinning.

"There's a lot of work to do at Deri Fawr"

At APD, Mathew notes down Howard’s order, remarking that there is a lot of work to do at Deri Fawr.   

"I don't know what Sioned and DJ were doing"

“I don’t know what Sioned and DJ were doing, but it wasn’t farming!” is the angry reply, “Can you get all this ready by this afternoon?” 

"Delivery is free if it's over £200"

Mathew agrees and will deliver it as well;  “Delivery is free if it’s over £200.”   Howard is shocked that it is so expensive, and as he turns to leave, 

"Have you heard from Tegwen?"

Mathew asks about Tegwen.

"She'd be much better off with you"

“Still with that idiot from up north – she’d be much better off with you!” Howard tells him.   

"I took a present for Ken"

Mathew relates how he took a present for Ken and left it outside the door;  he regrets that he did not try to talk to her.   

"She's not going to leave Ioan . . ."

Howard is confident that she is not going to leave Ioan – 

". . . we all have to accept that"

they will all have to accept that.

Great has her birthday doll

Greta is playing with a doll when Cai come downstairs;  feeling guilty, he sits down beside her and is told that this doll is a birthday present.   

"I wanted to say sorry for yesterday"

“Listen, I just wanted to say sorry for yesterday.”

"We're moving house"

She announces, “We’re moving house,” but she does not know where they are going;  

"Dad's not happy with me, is he?"

Cai realises that her father is not very happy with him, and she decisively shakes her head.   This makes him think.

"Do you want a sausage roll?"

Mathew is loading Howard’s order into the van when Jason comes out and says that he is going to get some sausage rolls.   

"I have to take this to Deri Fawr"

Mathew turns down the offer as he has loads to do today;  “I have to take this to Deri Fawr – he wants it by this afternoon.

"I can take it for you"

Jason can see an opportunity to confront Howard, so he volunteers to take it to Deri Fawr and the van keys are handed over.   

Jason heads for Deri Fawr

The van drives out of the village.

Siôn is surprised

Siôn comes into Y Felin to find a heap of belongings on the table and Cai coming downstairs with some more of his luggage.   “I had packing to do – 

"I'm moving out"

“I’m moving out,” he says, “Probably a hotel for a start, until I find somewhere more permanent.”

"You don't have to go"

Siôn protests that he does not have to go, 

"I haven't been very fair to you recently"

but he replies, “Yes, I do – I haven’t been very fair to you recently and I can’t live in your spare room for ever.   

"I'll pick up the rest of my stuff later"

“I’ll pick up the rest of my stuff later.   It’s time for me to go – I’m looking forward to it.”

Gaynor finds one of her books

Gaynor is at Llwyncelyn, where she has found a book which she places in her bag, 

She looks around . . . 

looks nostalgically around the place, 

. . . checks the wine rack . . .

then remembers the wine rack 

. . . and selects a bottle . . .

and selects a bottle to take with her.   

. . . then she leaves again

After looking around once more, she leaves the house.

Mathew is at MFC

Mathew is eating his lunch in MFC and looking at his phone when Iolo comes in, commenting, 

"Hangover or a terrible morning?"

“Chips and onion rings – hangover or a terrible morning?”

"I was drinking tequila with Cassie and Kath last night"

Mathew relates that he was drinking tequila with Cassie and Kath last night, so Iolo considers him lucky to be alive.   

"And I didn't drink last night!"

“I’m about to order chips and onion rings – and I didn’t drink last night!” says Iolo, “This week has been pretty . . . it was Greta’s birthday.   She’s all right, but we have some really bad days when she asks and asks where Tyler is.”

"Do you ever wonder 'what if'?"

Mathew wonders, “Do you ever think ‘what if’?” but Iolo can see no point in that.

"You have to look forward and not back"

“Because if you want to be happy, you have to look forward and not back,” he advises.   

"I've got work to do – and so do you"

Mathew asks if he wants a pint in the Deri, reckoning that only a ‘hair of the dog’ will sort him out now.   Iolo says that he has work to do, and assumes that Mathew also has some,

“I can do the accounts from the Deri,” he adds, 

He pauses for a moment . . .

then, after a moment’s thought, 

. . . and deletes Tegwen's details

deletes Tegwen’s name from the list of contacts on his phone.

Jason hurries to Deri Fawr . . .

The APD van arrives at Deri Fawr 

. . . surprising Howard

and Howard is surprised to see Jason, 

"No-one wants you in the village!"

who gets straight to the point;  “No-one wants you in the village!”   

"This is my home"

Howard replies that it is his home.

"I know what you did Kelly!"

“I know what you did to Kelly – and I know what you said to her!” Jason continues.   

"I wasn't going to do anything"

Howard maintains that he was not going to do anything;  

"Just talk, was it?"

“What was it, then?   Just talk?”

"You'll go to jail if . . ."

“I’ve done some stupid things, but you’ll going to jail if . . .” Howard begins.   He is assured that Jason is not going to do anything now, 

"I just want to have a word, Howard"

but all that he wants is to have a word

“I’ve been to prison – what more do you want?” Howard asks.

"What sort of man has been saying these big things"

“I just wanted to see what sort of man has been saying these big things to my wife!”   

"They're a lot more dangerous than you"

Howard demands whether Jason thinks he wanted to work with those thugs, who were a lot more dangerous than Jason.

“Do what you want to me – it will be no worse than what I’ve been through already.”

"He's upstairs, packing"

Siôn is working on the laptop when Iolo comes back and informs him that Cai is upstairs, packing.   “Thanks – I know it wasn’t easy for you,” says Iolo, 

"No – it was Cai who offered"

but he is told that it was Cai who offered.

"Get in touch if you find a pair of pants"

Cai comes downstairs and thinks that he has got everything;  “Get in touch if you find a pair of pants somewhere.”   

He puts his key on the table

He puts down his key on the table and Siôn assures him he is always welcome at Y Felin;  

" Come over for dinner some time"

he can come over for dinner some time.

"I just want some peace"

Cai explains that he just wants some peace and again apologises for what happened yesterday.   

Iolo feels guilty

Iolo is now feeling rather guilty.

The order has been unloaded

All of the stuff has been unloaded from the van and the invoice is handed over;  

"Jinx and Kelly are close, aren't they?"

Howard remarks, “Jinx and Kelly are close, aren’t they?   He was her night in shining armour – is something going on?”

"Jinx and Kelly are old friends"

Jason points out that Jinx and Kelly are old friends, 

 Howard says that he is not proud of what he did, 

"I've been punished"

but he has been punished.   

“Not for what you did to Kelly!” Jason snarls, but is reminded that he did not touch her.   

"You didn't get a chance, Howard!"

“You didn’t get a chance, Howard!”

"I wanted her to stop sticking her nose in!"

“I just wanted her to stop sticking her nose in – I knew how much trouble I’d be in if the police found out about the dog-fighting.   I was afraid of the people above me, not the police.   There’s a lot of money in it, Jason – and do you know why?   Because it’s addictive – the betting – the thrill of the race – the feeling when you win.   

Jason can relate to this

“The buzz of winning a lot of money!”

"Just stay away from Kelly – do you hear?"

Jason simply instructs him to stay away from Kelly and goes back to the van.

Cai is in a hotel . . .

In an anonymous hotel somewhere Cai climbs the stairs 

. . . and enters his rather basic room

and goes into room 202, containing somewhat spartan accommodation.

"Yes, I can do that"

Cassie is working on the staff rota;  “Can you do Saturday night?” she asks and Cheryl is quick to agree.    

"Last night was wild, wasn't it?"

Mathew comes in and comments that they look fresh;  “Last night was wild, wasn’t it?” he remarks, 

"We won the tequila race, remember"

and Cassie reminds him that they won the tequila race.   

"We were hoping for a re-run tonight"

“Rhys and I were hoping we could have a re-run tonight,” he goes on, “I assume last night is going to be repeated – 

"Last orders doesn't have to mean 'last orders'!"

“you know – ‘last orders’ doesn’t have to mean ‘last orders’ – it didn’t last night!   Come on, Kath, nobody else has to know – just us, a couple of boys . . .”

"Like Kath said, last night was different"

Cheryl interrupts to emphasise, “Like Kath said, last night was different – it was a chance to welcome the new owners.   Do you expect a buffet every night as well?   

"Last orders will be at 11:00pm tonight"

“Last orders will be at 11:00pm tonight – do you understand?”

"You've been fantastic today"

Cassie says that she has made her point, and has been fantastic today;  “Kath and I couldn’t have managed without you.”   Cheryl has had enjoyed herself, 

"You've done enough for one day"

and is told that she can go home now, as she has done enough for one day.   She will get her coat.   

"I need a coffee"

Cassie now needs a coffee.

Cai has some alcohol

In the semidarkness of the hotel room, Cai pours himself a drink

He looks as if he is self-harming again

and appear to be summoning up the courage to once again harm himself, although we do not see exactly what he is doing.   

He closes his eyes

He closes his eyes.
