At Cysgod y Glyn, as Ffion is drinking a cup of tea, Jinx informs her that Arwen is refusing to get up. She replies that she will sort her daughter out, and points out the pile of post for him,

some of which has been there for several days and which he has been ignoring.

She receives a text message on her phone and groans, “Give me patience! Cai says he won’t be in school for the rest of the week and there’s no explanation!”

Jinx has just discovered a letter from Carmarthen hospital addressed to Ffion;

"You are all right, aren't you?" |
“You are all right, aren’t you?” and she assures him that she is. “So why do you have to go to the hospital?” he asks.
“I’ve had a few spells of feeling lightheaded, that’s all,” she explains,

"It's nothing serious" |
“It’s nothing serious,” but he points out that it is serious enough to see a doctor. “I’ve spoken to Maya and she thinks it’s related to my sugar levels.”

"It might be the fact you work too hard" |
Jinx considers that it may be relating to the fact that she works too hard,

"Do stop fussing, Jinx!" |
and she tells him to stop fussing. “What are you doing tonight? I’ll make dinner and then we can catch up properly,” he proposes.

"Not that banana curry, mind" |
She warns him not to make banana curry, but he insists that it is an authentic recipé.

She takes another look at the letter |
Ffion looks again at the letter.

"A week today – right?" |
Huwi-John is eating a sandwich as Eileen is speaking on the phone; “A week today – right? Thank you very much.”

Eileen cleans up Huwi |
Then she turns to her son, notices that he has chocolate jam all over his face, and cleans him up.
“Was that Sioned on the phone?” he asks, and she replies that it was the hospital, explaining that she and Huwi have to go to the hospital next week to have tests to see if they have the same condition as Sioned, but that it is nothing to be worried about.

“And if you are a good boy, we can have some pancakes afterwards,” she promises. He is more interested in seeing Sioned in the hospital, but is told that she is not strong enough to see him,

and when she tells him to go and get ready for school, he refuses, maintaining that he has a stomach-ache; his mother points out, “You’ve eaten your breakfast –

Jason is making coffee when Kelly comes in; “You look nice this morning,” he tells her, and she says that the dress she is wearing is ancient.

She is in the office this morning and then she is going into town to buy Ifan new shoes.

"My treat – because you deserve it" |
Jason suggests that she could get her nails or hair done at the same time, and she wonders why. “My treat,” he answers, “Because you deserve it. I’m feeling generous. All right, then, why don’t we go out for dinner tonight?”

Kelly is irritated; “Jase, I’ve accepted you’re not ready to buy a house with me – there’s no need for you to do this. Now chop-chop – or Ifan will be late – and you know what Miss Lewis is like.”

She grabs his slice of toast and leaves the house.

"Greta asked me to give you this" |
Siôn returns from taking Greta to school and she asked him to give something to Iolo;

reads, “Seren, Esther, Mari, Bethan,” and is informed that she wants to invite them to her birthday party.

It has slipped Iolo's mind |
Iolo looks distraught, and his father realises, “You haven’t organised anything, have you? Her birthday’s tomorrow.”
“I’ve tried, Dad . . .” says Iolo.

"The first year without Tyler" |
Siôn appreciates that it is the first year of doing everything without Tyler and that it is not easy. “But she shouldn’t have to suffer,” Iolo insists. Siôn offers to arrange a tea party for them there.

“No – she deserves more fuss, not less!” says Iolo, “You know what?

"I'm sure I saw an advert on the Internet" |
“I’m sure I saw an advert on the Internet for a party company.” His father thinks that it is rather late for that;

however Iolo is adamant that she is having a party – “A party to remember!”

Kelly is going to call at the deli . . . |
Kelly strides up the street towards Tomos ac Ellis, stopping at the deli and finding it closed, much to her annoyance.

As she peers through the window,

she sees the reflection of a familiar figure walking past MFC

. . . which horrifies her |
and a look of horror comes over her face.

Howard throws down some litter |
It is Howard and as he continues into the alley, he throws down a wrapper on the ground;

"Oi! There's a bin there!" |
Kelly follows him, shouting, “Oi! There’s a bin there!”

"Kelly – lovely to see you again" |
“Kelly – lovely to see you again,” says Howard, and she snarls that she cannot say the same about him. “What are you doing this time? An article on litter bugs, is it?” he asks.

"You don't intimidate me!" |
“You don’t intimidate me!” she growls at him, and he wonders why he would want to do that. “Because dirty little men like you get a kick out of doing it!”

"You have been following me!" |
He comments that he is pretty sure that she is the one who has been following him – so it is possibly her who is getting the ‘kick’.
“Why are you here? People around here aren’t going to forget what you did,” Kelly goes on,

"This obsession has to stop, Kelly" |
so he walks closer to insisting that her obsession has to stop.

"I know exactly what you would have done to me" |
“I know exactly what you would have done to me that night if the cops hadn’t arrived,” she adds, but he maintains that she has a vivid imagination.

Fortunately Jinx comes into view at that moment . . . |
When he sees Jinx at the end of the alley, he decides that he is going home now; “You’re welcome to come and check my recycling bin, if you want.”

. . . but Kelly is very shaken |
Jinx is concerned for Kelly’s well-being, and indeed she seems to be very upset by this confrontation.

DJ arrives at the deli and is followed through the door by Eileen; “Is everything all right?” she demands, “I was worried about Sioned – you’re an hour late opening.”

He explains that he took her some breakfast, as she does not like hospital food.

“I’m sure a lot of people in the village would like some breakfast,” Eileen suggests, but he reminds her

that, unlike Sioned, they can cook for themselves.

“Listen, we’ve had a few complaints,” Eileen adds, “Two reviews on the website said the deli wasn’t open after they travelled all the way here.”

“I open when I can – but Sioned has to come first!” he stresses and then his phone sounds;

“I forgot to confirm an order!”
Eileen feigns outrage that they will have nothing to sell, so he points out that there is the Cae Glas stuff.

“You can’t run a deli with that!” she protests, “You need to be more organised,” so he argues that there are scones and chutneys – and if they are not enough,

Out in the back street, Jinx advises that Kelly should never have followed him in the first place; “But you know me – I can’t let things go, can I?

“It was only a matter of time until I saw him face-to-face again, I suppose.”

He asks how she feels after seeing Howard and she replies, “Pathetic.”

He insists that she should not be the one feeling like that.

"Preparing the speech I was going to give him" |
“I’ve spent hours in the shower, preparing the speech I was going to give him if I saw him again – and . . .”

Jinx invites her to do it now, as perhaps she will feel better if she gets it out of her system. There is no harm in trying.

Taking a deep breath, Kelly begins, “Listen, Howard, what you did to me that night . . .”

Then she stops, pointing out that Jinx’s face is way too friendly,

so he attempts a less friendly face, which simply makes her laugh.

“Thanks for cheering me up,” she giggles, and with a smug look he offers to listen any time she wants to practise her speech.

“OK, now you just look like you’re on the toilet! Stop, please!”

Iolo is just ending a phone call when his father comes into the room; “The bouncy castle isn’t available,” he announces,

“Do you think the kids would like this – a doughnut wall? So the kids can just help themselves.”

"Dressed as a princess" |
Siôn is trying to voice his objection to this, but Iolo continues, “I’ve found a company that come to a party dressed as any princess you want – as long as they’re not fully booked.” Then he receives a call from the doughnut company

and his father looks rather sceptical about the whole business.

In the deli Jinx orders the special,

but is told that they have no Parma ham, so he instead decides on the baguette with goats cheese and chorizo, the last item of which is also out of stock.

Eileen comes up with a solution |
Eileen is nearby and cannot help interrupting, “We’ve got plenty of soup and there’s enough goats cheese to make a panini to go with it.” Jinx asks about Sioned and is informed that she is having a procedure done tomorrow.

“She’s having a device fitted to prevent her heart stopping,” and Jinx sends his love.

Eileen tackles DJ; “You’re going to lose customers!” However he does not care and that she understands that he is worried about the treatment tomorrow, emphasising that it is only a small procedure.

“I just want to be with her to make sure she’s safe,” he says, “Not making paninis here!”

Jason comes in and Jinx takes the opportunity to warn him that Kelly is a bit upset;

Jason assumes that this is about the house-buying business.

"No, she saw Howard" |
“No, she saw Howard – he’s back!” Jinx continues, “He didn’t do anything, but talking to him shook her up a bit. I wanted you to know in case she needs company.”
Jason maintains, “It’s about time someone had a word with him!”

but he is warned that is not what Kelly wants, but simply to put him in his place.

He comments, “There’s more than one way to do that,” and heads out of the shop.

Ffion goes to Y Felin, looking for an explanation from Cai; “He left this morning – thanks for giving him the time off,” says Siôn, so she enlightens him that she did not, but has come to see where he is.

“Where is he, then?” she demands, and is told that he has gone to North Wales to see Lleucu and Twm, as he heard that Nesta was taking them away on Friday and he has not seen them for months.

“You know how much the children mean to him,” Siôn points out, “Surely you can understand.” She is not sympathetic and says that he has caused quite a mess today. She can find someone to cover for him this week,

DJ is just locking up the deli when another potential customer arrives, in the form of Geraint; “Sorry, Ger, I have to close early today for personal reasons,” he says, but it is pointed out that it is only 3:30.

Iolo comes downstairs looking for Greta’s reading book and is directed to the coffee table.

Siôn asks if Iolo has heard from Cai today; “I haven’t heard from him since he left this morning – I’m probably just overthinking things – he’s probably busy with Twm and Lleucu. How are the party arrangements coming along?”
