Dani has mislaid the thermometer . . .

Dani is frantically searching at number 7;  “Have you seen the thermometer?” she asks Mark, “Seren’s got a temperature.”  

. . . but Mark knows exactly where it is

He goes straight into the kitchen and locates it, 

"I'm going doolally, aren't I?"

so she concludes, “I’m going doolally, aren’t I?”

"Go for a walk to clear your head"

Mark encourages her to go for a walk to clear her head, as she is doing too much, but she protests that Seren has a cold.   “I’ll be here,” Mark tells her.

"So you're a qualified doctor?"

“I’ve known you 15 years, and now you tell me you’re a qualified doctor?” she demands.   

"Go for a walk – doctors orders!"

He laughs and instructs her that doctor’s orders are that she should go for a walk.   He appreciates that she is worried about Gwern, too and stresses that everyone needs a break sometimes.

"I'll just check on Seren first"

They reach a compromise that Dani will check on Seren first and then go for a walk.   “Just remember that you’re not Captain Marvel,” he says.

Delyth is missing . . .

Maya walks around the flat looking for Delyth, but she is not there, 

. . . and she has not taken her keys and phone

apparently having left behind her keys and phone, which Maya finds troubling.   

The gun is no longer in its hiding place

She looks in the space beside the fridge, but the gun is no longer there and she is even more worried.

"Has anyone seen my pamphlet . . ."

At Llwyncelyn, Hywel comes in with the unusual request, “Has anyone seen a pamphlet on the Llanfyllin murder in 1996?”   Apparently he has been working on the kitchen table which is now occupied by Gaynor and Cheryl.

Gaynor explains that he is doing a podcast with Jinx;  

". . . about the Llanfyllin murder"

“About the Llanfyllin murder in 1996, believe it or not,” grumbles Hywel, “Unsolved crimes.”

Then he complains that Gaynor has plonked herself in the middle of his work, 

"This is your office, not a working kitchen"

and she replies, “Sorry – this is your office, not a working kitchen.”   He moans that there has been a double booking at CwmFM, so he and Jinx have to work there, 

"Why don't you go out somewhere?"

suggesting that Gaynor and Cheryl go out somewhere.

"I'm meeting a friend in Cross Hands"

Cheryl is meeting a friend in Cross Hands later, and invites Gaynor to join her;  

"Oh, there's my pamphlet!"

as she moves her breakfast plate, she reveals the pamphlet which Hywel was seeking.   

He would like to see the back of Cheryl

He is angry.

"It's a bit of a delicate matter"

Griffiths comes into the pharmacy and looks awkwardly at Maya;  “It’s a bit of a delicate matter,” he begins, 

Diane comes in for Dai's medicine

but then is interrupted by Diane’s arrival, so he urges her to go in front of him.   “I’m sure Dai is in a hurry to get his medicine,” he says.

Maya finds the prescription and hands it to Diane;  

"How does it feel to be at the helm again?"

“How does it feel to be at the helm again, on the council?” Griffiths asks, “Making key decisions, leading society.”

"Disappointing, actually"

Actually she finds it rather disappointing;  “Why do we have to cut services for the elderly, again?   The budget has been halved.”   He answers that it is due to the austerity from London, 

He puts the blame on Hywel 

and believes that Hywel Llywelyn was in charge of that motion.   Diane is determined to tackle Hywel on the subject.

How did Cwmderi manage without a pharmacy for so long?

Then Griffiths is about to resume talking about his ‘delicate matter’, but again is interrupted, this time by Dani, 

"Seren has a fever"

who insists that Seren has a fever.   

"How is Delyth?"

She asks if Delyth Fielding is OK 

"She has a lot on her mind, work-wise"

and is told that she has a lot on her mind, work-wise.

"The Monks alone are enough to keep her busy"

as Dani is about to pay for the Calpol, Griffiths cannot resist commenting, “The Monks alone are enough to keep her busy – I heard about Gwern and his antics – disappearing again.”

"When was the last time you heard from your children?"

“Oh, you heard, did you?   When was the last time you heard from your children, then?” Dani responds, which causes him to suddenly go silent.

"Right, the delicate matter . . ."

“Right, the delicate matter . . .” he says 

"If it's piles, the cream is over there"

and Maya straightaway informs him that if it is piles, the cream is over there.   He follows her instructions and she smiles.

At the hospital, Eileen tells Sioned that her colour is much better today;  

"I must have looked terrible yesterday, then"

“I must have looked terrible yesterday, then,” she answers, as DJ comes in.

"No strange dreams?"

“Did you sleep better, with no strange dreams?” Eileen goes on, 

"The nurses say that is normal"

but DJ has been told by the nurses that it is normal to have confusion and wild dreams.

"See – I haven't lost it completely"

Sioned insists that she has not lost it completely.   

"You'll soon be fine"

Her mother is confident that she will be fine before long.

"You like Spiderman, don't you?"

Mark goes to Cysgod y Glyn to see Jinx;  “Hey, you like Spiderman, don’t you?” he says.   Jinx agrees that he does like his superheroes, 

"You want to borrow one of my action figures?"

and wonders if Mark wants to borrow one of his action figures.   

"Dani needs a night out"

“Dani needs a night out,” Mark tells him, “And she’s obsessed with Marvel – Spidey is on in Carmarthen tonight, so as you both enjoy watching adults prancing around in capes and lycra, take her and I’ll babysit.   

"Come over around six"

“Come over around six and I will have sorted everything with Dani.”

Jinx is very grateful

Jinx is very grateful to him, and is reminded not to forget the Maltesers;  

"She likes a big pack to watch films"

“She likes a big pack to watch films.”   Jinx suspect that his luck has changed.

Kelly and Rhys are working in the Deri . . .

As Kelly and Rhys work at a table in the Deri, 

. . . but Griffiths is on the warpath

Griffiths comes in, looking for them;  

"Purpose-built office, or in the pub?"

“Right, where is the best place for estate agents to sell houses?   In the purpose-built office down the road, or in a pub?” he asks.

"But without WiFi . . ."

Kelly is quick to answer, “Well, I mean, our office would be great if it offered the adequate requirements, but without Wi-Fi – it makes life difficult, doesn’t it?”   Rhys agrees that Wi-Fi is pretty vital to the job, really.

"I expected you to do that, Kelly"

Griffiths attempts to shift the blame;  “With responsibility for the office, I expected you to do that, Kelly,” 

"They want to talk to you, Ieuan"

but she replies that they want to talk to him.   “Right, I’ll sort it out, then,” he groans, 

"How many mansions have you sold this morning?"

adding, “How many mansions have you sold this morning, then?”

"As a team we have set up six viewings"

“As a team, we have set up six viewings,” says Rhys, 

"Team?   What team?"

and Griffiths wants to know to which ‘team’ he is referring.   “Kelly and I,” is the answer.

"You're a salesman, she's a PA"

Ieuan disagrees with this, insisting, “No – you’re a salesman, she’s a PA.”

“As we explained in detail in the e-mail you received this morning, Rhys and I have decided to do a job-share,” Kelly advises him, but he maintains that they cannot just decide to do that.

Rhys points out their reasons

“We believe that sharing the responsibilities between us creates a better working environment,” Rhys explains, but is warned that they cannot make a decision like that without the discussion.   

Kelly gives him an ultimatum, “Well, either that, or you find someone else!   What’s your problem, Ieuan?  

"You're getting two for the price of one"

“You’re getting two for the price of one here!”   This seems to alter Griffiths’ attitude.

Hywel and Jinx work on their podcast

At Llwyncelyn, Hywel and Jinx are making their podcast;  “But the man next door heard the murderer’s name being shouted by Betty Roberts and then forgot it?”   Hywel insists that there was enough evidence, 

Cheryl is back

but then they are interrupted by Cheryl.   Unfortunately her friend cancelled, so she and Gaynor have returned home, and she asks if they would like a cup of tea.

Hywel wants to discuss the evidence against him, as it was all rather . . .  

"Circumstantial?"

“Circumstantial?” Cheryl suggests.   

"The white van was on CCTV"

Jinx says that the police saw Bryn Davies’ white van on the local garage’s CCTV.   Hywel adds that Bryn had taken it to the garage on . . .

She seems very knowledgeable

Cheryl interrupts again, “Saturday – but he thought they were referring to the first Saturday in April, rather than May.”   

"What makes you such an authority?"

Hywel wants to know what makes her such an authority on the matter.   “I Googled it, after you mentioned the murder – it’s fascinating, actually,” she continues.

“It almost forced Bryn Davies to admit that he was in the wrong place at the right time,” says Hywel, and Cheryl reminds him that he was almost charged by the police after admitting he was there at the time.

"Who was the murderer, then?"

Jinx asks her who the murderer was, 

"The guy next door heard 'Jonny' or something"

and she answers, “The guy next door heard ‘Jonny’ or something – that sounds nothing like Bryn, does it?   Jinx can see that she has done her homework, but Hywel is definitely unimpressed.

"I was convinced I'd done the right thing, but . . ."

In the back room of the pharmacy, Delyth tells Maya, “Last week I was convinced I’d done the right thing, but after speaking to you and Dani, I didn’t know what to think any more.   

". . . perhaps I made a terrible mistake"

“Suddenly it dawned on me that perhaps I had made a terrible mistake – so I got up, headed out with the sole purpose of handing it in, got as far as the police station . . . 

"I chickened out"

“and then chickened out.   I’m just not sure it’s worth losing my job for it – 

"I was trying to protect a confused little boy"

“I was just trying to protect a confused little boy.”

"Better make sure confused little boy keeps his mouth shut"

“Well, better make sure confused little boy and Dani keep their mouths shut, then,” says Maya.

"We should have her on the podcast permanently"

In the Deri, Jinx points out that Cheryl was just so natural;  “We should have her on the podcast permanently.”   

Hywel obviously does not agree

Hywel does not share this view, but Gaynor is sure that Cheryl would love it.   “She knew her stuff as well – right, do you want a drink?” Jinx adds.   

"Good news about Cheryl, isn't it?"

Of course, Hywel does not, but Gaynor regards it as very good news about Cheryl.

"Are you responsible for this cuts?"

Diane has been looking for Hywel and when she comes across, she demands, “Are you are responsible for cuts to services for the elderly?”   

"The whole council voted for that"

He replies that the whole council voted for that.   “Free swimming sessions and meals on wheels are things people rely on – it’s disgraceful!   What with this and cuts to services for children like Ifan, 

"Targeting the vulnerable in society"

“you seem to be targeting the vulnerable in society.”

Hywel gets up from his seat, and when Diane growls that she has not finished yet, 

"I don't feel very special"

he tells her that he does not feel very special and walks away.

"OK, we'll see you, then"

Kelly is on the phone to another client;  “OK, we’ll see you then.”   

"Lord Sugar can't complain now!"

Then she exclaims, “Nine viewings, Rhys – we’re on fire – Lord Sugar can’t complain now!”   Rhys cannot understand why Griffiths was not happy, but she summarises, “He’s a control freak – I thought he might have mellowed by now – obviously not!”

"Pigeons?   Smoke signals?"

Griffiths walks towards them again, complaining on the phone, “And what are we supposed to do without Wi-Fi for a week?   Use pigeons?   Smoke signals?   Thanks for nothing!”   He sees them both looking at him, 

"Haven't you got work to do?"

and demands, “Haven’t you got work to do?   That’s the trouble with job-sharing – things get muddled.”

"We're happy to set up our own company"

Rhys confronts him;  “If you can’t accept that we work better like this, we’re perfectly happy to set up our own company, aren’t we?”   Kelly nods her approval, as he suggests that ‘Francis Llywelyn’ sounds good.

"Francis Evans Llywelyn"

Kelly prefers, ‘Francis Evans Llywelyn’, 

"One of your needs to stop the dramatics"

but Griffiths tells them to stop the dramatics.   “Share the job if you want to – but one of you needs to sort out the Wi-Fi.”   

They are quite jubilant

They are both very pleased with the result.

Gwern looks at his phone

Gwern is looking at his phone when DS Fielding comes into number 7;  

The DS wants to discuss the gun

“I thought it would be good idea for us and Gwern to discuss the gun,” she tells Dani.

"Losing a parent takes its toll on everyone"

Then she says to Gwern, “It doesn’t matter whether you’re 70 or 7 years old – losing a parent takes its toll on everyone.   I was 13 – thinking I’d never see her again was too much to process – it was like being completely numb – and then I went off the rails.”

"I'm not going off the rails"

Gwern protests that he is not going off the rails, 

"What was that last week, then?"

so Dani asks, “What was that last week, then?”   The DS continues that everyone makes mistakes – 

"It was a one-off"

she knows that better than anyone – but what she did, about the gun, was a one off, and she wants him to understand that.

"We're never going to discuss this again . . ."

“We’re never going to discuss this again – do you understand?   With each other, with me 

". . . certainly not with anyone else"

“and certainly not with anyone else.”   Dani thanks her and apologises for being short with her yesterday.   The DS says that she will see them and leaves the house.   

Is Gwern smirking?

Gwern returns to his phone and is smiling enigmatically.

"They think you'll be here for a while"

DJ comes into Sioned’s hospital room and she manages a weak smile;  he has just had a word with the doctor and they think she will be in hospital for a while.   

"Good – I'm safe in hospital"

“Good – I’m glad.   I’m safe in hospital,” she replies, “I don’t want to leave until I know what’s wrong with me – and that I’m going to be OK.”

"Sioned thought she was talking to her Dad . . ."

In the pharmacy, Eileen is telling Maya, “We had a bit of a scare yesterday – Sioned thought she was talking to her Dad, 

". . . and he's been in his grave ten years"

“and he’s been in his grave ten years.”   As Maya fetches the prescription for Penrhewl, she remarks that it is probably the drugs talking.

"'Pen' means head, doesn't it?"

She remembers that ‘Pen’ means head, 

"In this case it means 'top of'"

but Eileen says that in this case it means ‘top of’;  “Top of the hill, top of the road.   Sioned was a different person today – she was ‘fel y boi’.”   (Something like ‘right as rain’)

Things are busy there today, as Hywel has just come in and says to give Sioned his regards.   

Hywel has a problem with indigestion

He asks (in Welsh) for indigestion tablets and Eileen translates for him.

"The people on the minibus had a bit more than indigestion"

While Maya gets the tablets, Eileen remarks, “The people on the minibus had a bit more than indigestion, the night you were driving with a phone in your hand.   

"Take care, Hywel"

“Take care, Hywel.”

He cannot get out of the shop fast enough

He quickly pays with his card, grabs the tablets and hurries out of the pharmacy, 

Delyth is back

then Delyth arrives again;  

"Are they going to keep shtum, then?"

“Are Dani and Gwern going to keep shtum, then?” Maya asks, 

"I hope so"

and Delyth hopes they will.

“I had to do this my way, Maya – I couldn’t live with myself,” she adds, but is reminded that she did not force his parents to commit those crimes.   “I messed up, though!” the DS insists.

"Gwern isn't Simon"

“Gwern isn’t Simon,” Maya exclaims, a comment that will doubtless be explained in due course, and Delyth leaves the shop again.

"Jinx is going to see the new Spiderman film"

Dani is washing up while Mark prepares jacket potatoes;  “I saw Jinx earlier – he’s going to see the new Spiderman film,” he says and Dani cannot wait to see that, 

"I can babysit"

so he tells her to go with Jinx.   “I can babysit – the kids are fine these days.”

"I'm tired and Seren is ill"

She insists that she is not going anywhere, giving the excuse that she is tired, Seren is ill and she has promised Gwern a game of Mario Kart;  “Not tonight, Mark.”

Did Mark not say "SIX o'clock?

Then he receives a text from Jinx, advising, ‘On my way’, 

"I have to pop out for a minute"

and says that he has to pop out for a minute.   

Jinx is given disappointing news

He meets Jinx approaching the house and gives him the disappointing news;  “Sorry, but I’m no Cilla Black – you know what I mean – 

"She's not coming"

“she’s shattered, she’s not coming.”

"I've already ordered the tickets"

Jinx has already ordered the tickets, and Mark comments that the reviews have been good;  “You’re not interested in men prancing around in lycra,” Jinx reminds him, “Do you want to go, then?”

"Yeah, why not?"

After a bit of thought, Mark says, “Yeah, why not?” 

"Don't tell Dani"

but is warned not to tell Dani that he ordered the tickets.   “You like her, don’t you?” but Jinx simply does not want her to feel awkward.   

She will not miss out on the Maltesers

He posts a large pack of Maltesers through the letterbox 

He has totally forgotten the jacket potatoes

and they head to the cinema.   

Dani is puzzled

Dani is rather confused by the arrival of the Maltesers.

"Thank you very much"

In the Deri, Kelly is looking rather pleased with herself as she is on the phone;  “Thanks very much,” she says, 

"I've sorted Griffiths' WiFi"

“Well, a little courtesy goes a long way.   I’ve sorted Griffiths’ Wi-Fi in a fraction of the time he was raging.”

"It's ashamed you can't sort out his council policies!"

Diane, who is next to her at the bar, caustically remarks, “It’s a shame you can’t sort Hywel Llywelyn’s council policies out!” 

Hywel is not looking himself

He is standing some distance away, obviously extremely angry, 

"You've been on edge all day"

and Gaynor wants to know what is wrong with him, as he has been on edge all day.

"Eileen's been talking about the accident"

“Eileen has been talking about the accident in front of Maya,” he growls, “What if she tells someone about me on the phone?   How will I keep her quiet then?”

However, Diane's tirade is the last straw . . .

Things escalate when Diane approaches, threatening, “Things are going to change on the council – you listen to me – I’m not going to agree to any more of these cuts!”

. . . and Hywel suffers some sort of seizure

Hywel begins gasping for air and doubles up with pain;  Gaynor is extremely worried.
