Dani has finished the cleaning
Dani has just finished cleaning at the deli and informs Eileen that the toilets are shining; “Oh good, I’ll check them in a minute and transfer you the money, OK?”
Dani goes to sit down opposite Mark and complains, “It’s just hard to impress the Queen of Sheba!”
"Don't overdo it — in your condition"
He warns her not to overdo it in her condition, but she tells him to be quiet,
"I don't want anyone to know"
as she does not want anyone to know. Then he asks if she has told Cai yet; she replies that she has not had a chance yet, but Mark insists that he has a right to know.
"He's been carrying on with my sister"
“Does he? When he’s been carrying on with my sister behind my back?” Mark points out that he is not breaking the law, however,
"I'll tell him when the time is right"
Dani wants to tell him when the time is right – and when Liv is not around.
"Mark, the windows are filthy!"
Eileen wonders when Mark last cleaned the windows, describing them as filthy; he apologises that he has not had a chance to do them for a while and volunteers to do them later –
"I could do the shop at the same time"
he could do the shop at the same time, if Colin will be there. Eileen points out that he will be there all day.
"There you are – you see?"
“There we are – you see? Colin’s out all day and Britt is out with Gabs – invite Cai over to the flat.” Dani agrees that she will tell him.
Cai is infatuated with Gwydion
At Y Felin, Cai is fawning over baby Gwydion;
"You're so good with him"
Liv is sitting nearby and says that he is so good with the baby. “Well, we’re big mates, aren’t we, you and me?”
"We're both so lucky to have you"
She says that they are both so lucky to have him, but when she shows signs that she is going to kiss him again,
"Whoa, now"
he quickly backs away, telling her, “Whoa, now.”
She cannot understand why he is behaving like this;
"You've been like this since the kiss"
“You’ve been like this since the kiss,” she maintains,
"That was a mistake"
which he regards as a mistake and thought that she understood.
She simply decides that it is time for a nap, picks up the baby and takes him upstairs.
Sioned is not happy
At Penrhewl, Sioned is looking decidedly not happy when Mathew walks in, speaking on the phone,
"I'm looking forward to seeing you"
“That would be lovely – OK, I’m looking forward to seeing you.”
He informs Sioned that his mother is thrilled with the good news and is coming down to congratulate them.
"There's no need for that"
She says there is no need for that, but he replies that she is just pleased to be included. They also need to tell Rhys, as he will be the best man, then wonders when Sioned is going to tell her mother.
"We haven't discussed a date yet"
“There’s no rush – we haven’t discussed a date yet,” she tells him,
Mathew is going over the top
but he is becoming over-enthusiastic about this, insisting that they need to rush
"I can't wait to tell the village"
because he cannot wait to tell the village that she is going to be his wife.
Now she feels even worse
As he leaves the farmhouse, she is looking even more concerned
"A customer wants to buy one of Jinx's pictures"
At number 21, Esther is doing some painting as Hywel comes in with good news for Rhys. “A customer in Ceffyl Du wants to buy one of Jinx’s pictures – I told him he could come over this afternoon – we have to prove to Jinx that this partnership is worth it.”
"Without checking with me?"
“You can’t invite them over without checking with me,” Rhys reprimands his father, who wonders whether he really does want the commission.
"I haven't had a chance to tidy up"
“Of course I do, but I haven’t had a chance to tidy the place yet.”
Hywel will help him with that and proposes that Esther can come with them,
"I'm busy"
even though she moans that she is busy. “Listen, you need to do something worthwhile now you’re not going on that school trip,” Hywel instructs,
"If we all pitch in . . ."
“If we all pitch in, we’ll do it in no time, OK?”
"Do you want another one?"
Cai is sitting gloomily at the bar when Mark comes in for a pint, then asks Cai if he wants another one. He replies that he has a lot on his mind;
"I'm questioning a few decisions"
“I’m questioning a few decisions I’ve made recently.”
As so often happens, Mark jumps to conclusions;
![]() |
"Yes, we've all been there"
“Yes, we’ve all been there,”
"I don't know what to do"
while Cai does not know what to do.
"Well, how do you think Dani feels?"
“Well, how do you think Dani feels?” Mark demands, “It’s her decision at the end of the day, isn’t it? You can’t force her to keep it.”
"Dani?"
When Cai has no idea what he is talking about,
"Me and my big mouth!"
Mark realises that he has put his foot in it again.
Cai hurries away
Cai wastes no time in dashing out of the pub, with Mark shouting after him, “I thought you knew.”
"I've promised her some pocket money"
As they approach Ceffyl Du, Hywel says that Esther will come over to wash bottles – as he has promised her some pocket money. Rhys is of the opinion that these parties are more trouble than they are worth,
"It made a tidy profit"
but his father points out that it was a successful party during which he made a tidy profit.
"We could get Dani in to clean"
As the roller shutter door is raised and Hywel predicts that if the number of parties increases, they could get Dani to come to clean.
![]() |
"They receive a shock . . ."
Then they have a very unpleasant surprise.
"Someone has been vandalising"
Someone has managed to get in and to deface the very painting which Jinx wants to sell.
Cai arrives to see Dani
Dani answers the buzzer at the MFC flat and Cai comes up;
"Is it true you're pregnant?"
“Is it true that you’re pregnant?”
"Thanks, Mark"
She realises that Mark is responsible for this. “It is true, then – we were so careful.”
She makes it very clear that she has not been with anyone else,
"Unlike you!"
“Unlike you! Liv – yeah, I saw you outside The Pizza Place.”
"Liv kissed me, which was a mistake"
He is adamant that Liv kissed him and that it was a mistake – and he has not come there to talk about Liv.
"You should have told me"
He maintains that Dani should have told him.
"I was going to"
“I was going to – I told Mark I would tell you today.” Now Cai wants to know why she told Mark before him. “It was a shock – I wanted to talk about it and he was there for me – like he always is. But if he’s going to start telling everyone my business, perhaps I shouldn’t trust him.”
![]() |
"Don't be angry with Mark"
“Don’t be angry with Mark – he thought that I knew.” Dani confirms that he does know now. “So, what are we going to do about it?”
Mathew wants to rush everything
Mathew’s enthusiasm has not abated as they walk along with the twins past the shop;
"It's a bit expensive"
Sioned tries to calm things by pointing out, “It’s a bit expensive, especially after the lambing season we’ve had.” Mathew maintains that there are ways of saving money, like Jinx, who happens to be passing at that moment.
![]() |
"You're good at taking photos, aren't you?"
“You’re good at taking photos, aren’t you?” Jinx assumes that they want photos of the twins.
Eileen is keeping an eagle eye on proceedings
Eileen is watching from inside the deli as Mathew announces that they are getting married,
"Oh, congratulations!
so Jinx congratulates them, which immediately raises Eileen’s suspicions.
Jinx would be happy to take pictures on the big day and they should just send him the date;
"We shall expect 'mate's rates'!"
Mathew points out that they will expect ‘mate’s rates’.
“Do you think we should tell your mother now?” he continues, “It would be better coming from you.”
"I've got things to do at home"
Sioned disagrees, pointing out that she has things to do at home.
![]() |
Eileen watches . . .
As they part,
. . . and does not appreciate being 'in the dark'
we see the familiar sour look on Eileen’s face in the deli.
"Do you honestly think it's a good idea?"
“Do you honestly think it’s a good idea to bring another child into our lives now?” Dani demands.
"I haven't been the best father to Twm and Lleucu"
Cai confesses that he has not been the best father to Twm and Lleucu,
"How is having another baby going to help?"
so she suggests, “Don’t you think you should sort that out? How is having another baby around going to help with that?”
"How can you be so blasé about it?"
Cai cannot understand how Dani can be so blasé about it, but she answers that she is not;
"I'm being realistic, OK?"
“I’m being realistic, OK? This wasn’t planned, was it?”
"Gwydion wasn't planned, but he has helped Liv so much"
He says that Gwydion was not planned either, but he has helped Liv so much and she has really turned a corner. “I’m proud of her – Gwydion is lucky to have her.”
"You're looking for a second chance"
“Are you sure you’re not just looking for a second chance? A new focus – a new start? You’ve had a taste of it with my sister and now perhaps you want the real thing. If you really want to be a good father, concentrate on the children you already have. That’s what I’m going to do with Gwern and Gabs, because you don’t know what’s going to happen.”
"Do you want me to come with you?"
“Do you want me to come with you?” he asks,
"It's no big deal"
but she regards it as no big deal as it is early days, so she will be perfectly all right on her own. She stresses that they are doing the right thing.
"Mathew wants to see me"
In the brewery, Rhys tells his father that he has to pop out to see Mathew and it sounds urgent.
"Make sure you're back before that buyer comes"
“Well, make sure you’re back before Jinx brings that buyer over,” says Hywel.
"I'm not sure this is a good idea"
Rhys is not sure that it is still a good idea and offers to cancel; “What? And tell Jinx his pictures have been damaged? He’ll force you to pay for them.” Rhys is resigned to the fact that is going to happen, anyway.
His father is confident that it is all under control; “Isn’t it, Esther? How are you getting on with the repainting? Almost finished?”"You can't rush an artist, Dad!"
She disparagingly replies, “You can’t rush an artist, Dad!”
"It's your fault if this doesn't work!"
Rhys growls that it is his father’s fault if this does not work.
"Where have you been?"
When Cai comes back to Y Felin, Liv demands where he has been. “Out thinking – we’ve been through a lot, us two. You’ve helped me a lot and I hope I’ve helped you –
"I think things have gone too far"
“but I think things have gone too far. I was just trying to help you, nothing more, but perhaps moving in with you and being so involved with Gwydion was a mistake.
"Some kind of second chance . . ."
“I just wanted to do the right thing – to look after you, but I’m worried I may have treated this as some kind of a second chance.
![]() |
". . . a chance to try again . . ."
“A chance to try again after making a mess of things with my own children –
". . . and that's not fair on either of you"
“and that’s not fair on him, or you.”
"I thought we could be a family"
Liv had thought that they could be a family, but again he insists that they are just friends;
"I've never had anything like this"
“I’ve never had anything like what I’ve had with you – feeling safe – feeling like a part of something.”
![]() |
Liv goes upstairs
She gets up and goes upstairs.
Mathew wants Rhys as best man
In the Deri, Rhys congratulates Mathew, then is told that Mathew would like him to be best man. “You’ll regret that when you hear my plans for the stag party!”
"Nothing over the top, mind!"
However it is specified that there is to be nothing over the top.
"The buyer is on his way . . ."
Jinx comes across to inform Rhys that he has had a message from the buyer, who has just arrived;
". . . can I bring him to see the picture?"
“Can I bring him to see the picture?” Rhys replies that it should be ready now –
"I mean Ceffyl Du"
then clarifies that he means Ceffyl Du, where his father and Esther have been tidying up.
Mathew asks if everything is OK, with Rhys replying, “Check with me again later.
![]() |
"They're better than last time"
Eileen seems pleased with Mark’s efforts, maintaining that the windows are better than the last time that he cleaned them; “I’ll transfer the money to you now.”
"Hope you an still afford your hat"
“I just hope that you’ll still be able to afford your hat for the wedding,” he comments;
![]() |
"Ooh-er – I've done it again!
from the look on her face, he concludes that he has done it again,
![]() |
"I wasn't aware anyone else knew"
but she pretends that she already knew about that and was not aware that anyone else knew.
Talk about 'face like thunder'
She is not very pleased about being excluded.
They look at Esther's work . . .
Hywel and Esther are peering at the painting, unable to see any difference.
![]() |
. . . then the buyer does the same
“This is the one you were looking at, isn’t it?” Jinx asks the potential buyer, then adds, “The white is brighter than I remember –
"That's how art is sometimes"
“but that’s how art is sometimes, isn’t it? Where you place it and the light you use affect the paint sometimes.”
They shake hands on the deal
The buyer confirms with a handshake that he will take it; they adjourn to the Deri to discuss terms.
"I can't believe we got away with it!"
Rhys cannot believe that they got away with it, and his father is sure that he will get a tidy commission out of the sale.
"Do I get a cut?"
“Do I get a cut?” enquires Esther.
"10%!"
Rhys says she can have 10%, regarding her as a chip off the old block. Hywel has a feeling that this partnership with Jinx will be very successful.
"Just wait until you hear my plans"
“Now that you’ve seen what I can do,” he continues, “Just wait until you hear the plans I have for this place!”
Rhys looks worried
Rhys is left looking rather wary of this ominous forecast.
Where is Cai thinking of going? Dubai?
At Y Felin, Cai is looking at the website of flyforless.com, when Liv comes back downstairs, carrying some bags;
"You don't have to leave"
“You don’t have to leave,” he says.
"My Mam is coming to pick us up"
She appreciates that but needs to go; “Mam is coming to pick us up – we’ve been texting. Her flat’s in Llanelli – she’s got a spare room and wants to help.”
How about Bobby?"
She assures Cai that Bobby the drug dealer does not know anything about it.
“She’ll be here shortly, so you can meet her.
"It's time I stood on my own two feet"
“You might have done me a favour – it’s about time I started to stand on my own two feet, not latching on to you and depending on you.”
"You're clean and a good mother"
He reminds her that she got herself to this position; “You’re clean and a good mother,”
"I couldn't have done it without you"
but she is sure that she could not have done it without him and is determined not to go back to where she was.
Eileen brings a bottle . . .
Eileen arrives at Penrhewl and is carrying a bottle, so Sioned knows that she has heard.
. . . then the interrogation starts
“Everyone in the village is talking about it,” her mother replies, “Why didn’t you tell me? I thought we understood each other now?
"Why keep this from me?"
“Have I done something? Why keep this from me, then? Because I’m very happy for you.”
![]() |
"I didn't want anyone to know"
Sioned, however, is far from happy; “I didn’t want to tell you because I didn’t want anyone to know.
“I love Math – you know I do – but this whole thing, it’s as if it’s just . . .” but before she can finish her sentence,
Mathew arrives
Mathew comes in and sees the bottle.
He tells Eileen that she will have to stay for dinner so that they can open it,
"Rhys was thrilled . . ."
then advises Sioned that Rhys was thrilled
". . . and I've phoned The Glyndwr . . ."
and that he has phoned The Glyndwr for a quote. Sioned protests that they have not discussed dates yet,
![]() |
". . . we'll taken the first date they have!"
but he ploughs on, “We’ll take the first date they have! I’ll get changed and then we’ll open this, shall we?”
"Do you see what I mean?"
“Do you see what I mean?” she asks her mother,
"He's excited"
who simply maintains that he is excited.
![]() |
"I'm glad we have something to look forward to, but . . ."
“I really am glad that we have something to look forward to, especially after the last year, but . . .”
"Why did you agree to Matty him, then?"
“Why did you agree to marry him, then?” Eileen demands.
"I didn't have a chance to think"
“I didn’t have a chance to think about it – and he hasn’t thought about it, not properly.
![]() |
"I don't want to get married!"
“I don’t want to lose him, but I don’t want to get married!”
