Ffion is very worried

Ffion is sitting glumly at the table in Deri Fawr

We find that Lleucu is staying with her

and we learn that Lleucu has found refuge with her Auntie Ffion.   Lleucu asks why she is not dressed and she replies that she does not feel very well.

"What's wrong?"

Her niece asks her what is wrong.

“I don’t know – I haven’t slept much and I’m not going to work.”

Ffion is gripped with panic

Suddenly there is a knock at the door and Ffion is panic-stricken.

"Chill – it's only the door"

Lleucu tells her to chill, as it is only the door;  she also mentions that Arwen is trying to contact her mother.   Ffion promises to phone her in a minute.

"I saw the postbox topper – it's cute!"

Their caller is Mark, who has brought the post;  Lleucu says that she saw the postbox, which she describes as ‘cute’ and asks if he knows who did it,

"Ffion can knit"

adding that Ffion can knit.   Now she is going for a run.

Ffion points out that she will be late for school,

"They'll have to manage without us today"

so she is told, “You’re a fine one to talk – they’ll have to manage without us today!”

"I'm fine, Mark"

Mark sits down at the table with Ffion and tells her that she looks tired, but she insists that she is fine.

"We are friends . . ."

He stresses that it is important to talk – and they are friends;

". . . but that's all – all right?"

“But that’s all – all right?   No more than that.”

She does not know what he means

She is at a loss to know what he means,

"I have to answer this"

but then her phone rings,

"Hiya"

so Mark will go and she answers it.

Dani is working in the Deri . . .

In the Deri, Dani is doing her cleaning,

. . . but is feeling far from well

but definitely does not feel right;  Kath comes in and asks, “Was it raining in Tenerife or what?

"I think I'm ill"

“You look very pale.”   Dani maintains that she thinks she is ill and Kath hopes it is not a bug.

“I wish!” mutters Dani and just then Mark comes in with the Deri’s post;

"You're no better, then, Dan"

he notices that Dani is no better.

"Do you have to go on and on about it?"

“I’m fine – do you have to go on and on about it?” she snaps.

He asks whether she found Cai and when she says she has not,

"You don't want to get caught up in his mess"

he concludes, “It might be for the best – you don’t want to get caught up in his mess.”   Dani would prefer if they talked about something else.

"I had to tell Ffion we're just friends"

“I had to tell Ffion that we’re just friends this morning,” he continues, “That must have been tough for her – I just hope I haven’t upset her too much – although she did look pretty low, to be honest.   Right, I’d better crack on with my shift.”

"Right, I'm off, Mam"

As he leaves, he wishes his mother goodbye.

"I don't know anything about the Moduron Monk sign"

Rhys comes round the corner, talking on the phone;  “I don’t know anything about the Moduron Monk sign, Britt.   I’ve been in Bristol.”

"I want a word with you"

Kath spots him and is anxious to have a word;

"I want to cancel the Deri's order"

“I want to cancel the Deri’s order, please.   You know exactly why.”

"What are you talking about?"

Rhys has no idea what she is talking about,

"Why do you have a bar full of wine and spirits?"{

so she elaborates, “We had an understanding that we wouldn’t step on each other’s toes.   Do you want to tell me why you have a bar full of spirits and wine?”

"I've been serving Gwyneth and tonic since you were in nappies!"

He replies that he has not, but she warns him,  “Don’t throw dust in my eyes, good boy.   I’ve been serving gin and tonic since you were in nappies!   I don’t want a drop of your beer until you’ve sorted this out, do you understand?”

He heads towards Ceffyl Du

He marches resolute towards Ceffyl Du and is dismayed by what he finds there;

"What's happened here?"

“What’s happened here?   You were supposed to keep an eye on the place.”

"They're only minor changes"

His father argues that they are only minor changes – a throw, a lamp, to create some ambience.

"Ambience?"

“Ambience?   I want to run a brewery, not an art exhibition – I guess that this is something to do with Jinx.

"Am I supposed to know what that is?"

“And am I supposed to know what that is?” he snarls, pointing towards the painting of Llansteffan Castle.

"Kelly supplies the food here!"

Then he picks up one of the leaflets on the bar;  “Pizza and a pint?   Kelly supplies the food here – we have an understanding.”

"People want pizza after a couple of pints"

Hywel maintains that people want pizza after a couple of pints;

"You had no right to do this"

“You’re an expert on what people want now, are you?   You had no right to do this!”

"I was only trying to help"

When his father says that he was only trying to help, he is told, in no uncertain terms, “Helping is serving behind the bar, not changing what I’ve created!”

"This is why Kath was shouting at me in the street"

As he picks up a bottle, he goes on, “And this is why Kath was shouting at me in the street – this is my dream, Dad, not yours!”

Dani is feling queasy . . .

Dani is walking through the alley and obviously feeling very queasy;

. . . and has to throw up"

she suddenly has to throw up,

Mark is approaching

but Mark is approaching along the back street.

She will have some questions to answer

When she sees him, she knows that the game is up.

"Art bars are very popular"

Hywel continues to protest, “They’re not big changes – and I’ve done my research – art bars are very popular.”

"I don't want an art bar"

Rhys regards that as great, but stresses that he does not want an art bar.   “You haven’t given it a chance, his father points out,

"Why should I?"

but Rhys does not see why he should.

"Why are you going overboard about this?"

“Why are you going overboard about this?” Hywel demands.

"You've turned it into a charity shop on acid!"

“You’ve turned my bar into a charity shop on acid – you’re not trying to help, you’re trying to take over!   It was fine as it was.”

"I've been looking at the books"

His father does not agree there, pointing out that he has been looking at the books – adding that he is glad that he did, because they are not pretty.

"That's why I've been going to these beer festivals"

He is told that is the reason Rhys is going to all these beer festivals;  “I actually think the product will make me more money than a throw on a sofa and asking Jinx to bring a pizza over.   You’re trying to prove you’re better than me.

"I'm never going to be good enough for you"

“It doesn’t matter what I do, I’m never going to be good enough for you, am I?”

Ffion looks determined . . .

Ffion is sitting at home, anxiously looking at her phone;

. . . as she removes every trace of Tom

she decisively removes Tom from her contacts list, but when the phone starts to sound,

That door does not appear very secure

she immediately rushes to the back door (which does not seem to be equipped with a lock)

Then she checks the front door

then to the front door.   She looks at the phone,

A voicemail from Arwen . . .

to find that there is a voicemail from Arwen

. . . so Ffion rings her back

and rings her back.

"Have you been to the doctor?"

In the alley, Dani, having been given a bottle of water, is asked by Mark if she has been to the doctor.

"I don't ned to"

“I don’t need to go to the doctor – it’s just a bug.”   He cynically remarks that it was dodgy food yesterday.

"You're drinking again, aren't you?"

“I know what’s going on, Dan – you’re drinking again, aren’t you?   I’ve just seen you vomiting and you’re just like you were when you had the stalker.   Is something worrying you?”

"I'm pregnant!"

“I’m not drinking, Mark – I'm pregnant!” she admits.

 "Oh, Dan!"

This causes Mark some surprise.

Ffion has escaped to the Deri

Now Ffion is sitting in the Deri, and Lleucu finds her there;

"I needed to get out of the house"

“I just needed to get out of the house – I just want some peace.”

"Have you phoned Arwen back?"

Lleucu is checking that she has phoned Arwen back and Ffion confirms that she has;

"Do you all have to hassle me so much?"

“Do you all have to hassle me so much?”

"I was only passing on a message"

Lleucu points out that she was only passing on a message.   Ffion gives the excuse as she is tired.

"Do you know who's staying at Llwyncelyn?"

Lleucu takes off her coat and sits down, asking, “Do you know who’s staying at Llwyncelyn while Gaynor is away?   I saw a light on in there earlier while I was out running.”

"What if its Tom?"

Ffion is immediately frightened that it is Tom;  “Perhaps he’s managed to get out on bail like last time!”

"Why don't we go home?"

Lleucu is now sorry that she mentioned it and suggests that they should go home,

"No – I'm going to stay here!"

but Ffion is adamant, “No – I’m going to stay here!”

Lleucu tries to convince her that she does not need to worry about Tom,

"I can't escape from him, Lleucu!"

but now Ffion is in tears;  “I can’t escape from him, Lleucu – it’s like he’s following me everywhere.   I’m not sleeping and I can’t concentrate –

"I'm scared of being int he house on my own!"

“I’m scared of being in the house on my own!”

"And Arwen phones me every minute!"

Her phone sounds;  “And Arwen phones me every minute!” she wails.

"Should you talk to someone about this?"

Kath is watching from the bar as Lleucu wonders whether Ffion ought to talk to someone properly about this, but she will not entertain the idea.

Lleucu will go and get them a coffee and then they can have a chat.

"Two coffees, please"

She goes to the bar and asks for two coffees,

"Hiya, Hywel . . ."

then gets out of her phone and makes a call;  “Hiya, Hywel . . .”

"Is it Cai's baby?"

Mark and Dani are still in the alley, where he assumes that it is Cai’s baby, but she has not seen him;

"I saw him kissing Liv!"

“I went looking for him yesterday, but I saw him kissing Liv.”

"She's half his age!"

Mark gasps in astonishment, as she is half his age.

"Why am I so stupid with men?"

“Why am I so stupid with men?” Dani demands, but he maintains that they are the stupid ones and enquires what she is going to do.   She tells him, “The baby is due at Christmas time – like Seren was.

"I can't do it on my own"

“I can’t do it – I can’t do it on my own – I just . . .”

"I'm here for you, Dan"

Mark reminds her that he is there for her and she sighs, “What would I do without you, eh?”   She needs a lie down now, while Gabriel is in school.

"Phone if you need anything"

Mark tells her to phone if she needs anything and she warns him that he must not tell anyone.

"DS Thomas says he's not out on bail"

Ffion has now phoned the police, where DS Thomas has confirmed that everything is fine – Tom is not out on bail.

"I told you, didn't I?"

“See – I told you, didn’t I?”says Lleucu, “Listen, you’ve had a terrible year, but this Tom business is over.   He’s not going to hurt anyone else, all right?”

"What's going on with Arwen?"

Another phone message arrives from Arwen, so Lleucu wonders what is going on.

"She's all over the shop"

Ffion does not know, saying that she is all over the shop and phoning every two minutes;  “She wants me to go up and see her.”

Lleucu suggests that she should go;  “I can’t, can I?   What about work?”

"Who cares about work?"

“Who cares?” answers Lleucu, “You’re stressed and you’re angry and you’re sad – what use are you in work at the moment?   I’d say you need a break, or you’ll make yourself ill.”

"I need to sort myself out – and Arwen as well"

Ffion realises that she is right, “I need to sort myself out – and sort out whatever is going on with Arwen as well.”

"A bit of time with the Gogs will do you a world of good"

Lleucu maintains that a little bit of time in North Wales will do her the world of good,

"The governors will have a fit!"

but Ffion predicts that the governors will have a fit.   She is concerned whether Lleucu will be OK going back to Y Felin.

"You'll be there before Arwen goes to bed"

“I’ll talk to Dad,” is her reply, “If you go now, you’ll get there before Arwen goes to bed.”

Mark has been watching from the bar and now comes over to them, as Lleucu tells Ffion to give Arwen and Val a big cwtch from her.

"I hope it's not because of what I said"

“Are you leaving?” he asks, hoping that it was not because of what he said this morning, but she cannot remember what he said this morning.

Mark gives her a hug . . .

He gives her a hug and they will talk when she comes back.

. . . much to Lleucu's surprise

Lleucu is puzzled and cannot understand what that was about and Ffion does not know either.

"Why are you hugging Ffion?"

Kath, behind the bar, is concerned about him hugging Ffion.

"I think she knitted the postbox topper"

He explains, “Well, I think she knitted that post box topper to welcome me back to work.”

"Yeah, I forgot to tell you about that . . ."

His mother then reveals that she forgot to tell him about that.

". . . the crochet club were having lunch . . ."

“The crochet club was having lunch in here the other day and I saw the sorts of things they were making, so . . . well, it was worth the £20 I paid, I hope.”

"Yes, it was great"

He agrees that it was great and Kath cannot understand why he thought that it was Ffion.

"Britt thought I had an admirer"

“Britt told me that I might have an admirer – I didn’t really think it was Ffion!”

"How would you like it if . . ."

Rhys is angrily reprimanding his father, “How would you like it if your father stood over you, waiting for you to make a mistake?”

"I like the new look"

However their conversation is interrupted by the arrival of Lleucu, while Rhys says that he is going.

“I like the new look,” she comments.

"It was nothing to do with me!"

“Do you?   Well, congratulate Dad – it was nothing to do with me!” Rhys growls,

"Oh dear"

as he storms out.

She is even the keys to Llwyncelyn

Hywel goes to fetch the spare keys for Llwyncelyn to give to Lleucu;

"I want to check that everything's all right"

she says that she just wants to check that everything is all right, as it has been empty for a while.

“Are you going to sort things out with Rhys?” she asks,

Hywel does not know if he will

but Hywel does not know the answer to that.

"I'll never understand you parents"

“I’ll never understand you parents – all you have to do is talk to us before making your big decisions –

Hywel concedes that she is right

“especially when it’s our lives they affect.”

Mark wants another pint

Mark is still at the bar in the Deri

"I should have told you, shouldn't I?"

and his mother realises that she should have told him about that topper.

"I was stupid to think that"

“I was stupid to think I had an admirer – especially Ffion, of all people.   Mind you, I obviously wanted to think that as well – you know, since Cher disappeared, I hadn’t even thought about moving on,

"I got quite excited"

“but when Britt said someone might like me, I got quite excited.”

"Cheryl would want you to move on"

Kath insists that Cheryl would want him to move on, but he is disappointed that his mother was the one who put on the topper.

"I could give you the number of one of the crochet ladies"

“Well, I could give you the phone number of one of the crochet ladies, if you want,” suggests his mother, but he does not think that will be necessary.

Hywel reads the Western Post

Hywel is looking at the Western Post at home when Rhys comes back;

"I went too far"

Hywel confesses that he went too far;

"My father took over as well"

“My father took over as well – he didn’t care how I felt – and I promised that I’d never do that with you.

"You have to believe I was trying to help"

“You have to believe me that I was trying to help you.   And I must admit that I really enjoyed running something again –

"I'd forgotten how much fun it was"

“I’d forgotten how much fun it is to run a business.”

"If you'd just discussed it with me"

“If you’d just discussed it with me,” begins Rhys, but his father points out that they will have to keep the extra stock of wines and spirits

"The three parties that have been booked"

because of the three parties which have been booked.

“There is one christening and two 18th birthday parties.”

"There's no need to be so smug!"

Rhys tells him that there is no need to be so smug;  he agrees to keep a couple of things to see if they work.

Hywel mentions something else;  “The parties will want pizzas as well.”   Rhys grudgingly agrees

"You'll have to tell Kelly"

but points out that his father will have to be the one to tell Kelly.

"I'm always proud of you"

“Listen, Rhys, I want you to know that I’m always proud of you, you know.”

Music is playing upstairs at Llwyncelyn . . .

Lleucu opens the door of Llwyncelyn and can hear music from upstairs;

. . . when Lleucu comes in

she surreptitiously looks around, finding signs that the place is being lived in.

She looks around . . .

There is a bag on the floor which she picks up and looks inside,

. . . its her phone on the arm of the sofa . . .

finding some clothes, putting her phone on the arm of the sofa

. . . but then makes a rapid exit . . .

However, she hears sounds of footsteps, so beats a hasty retreat out of the house,

. . . minus the phone

unfortunately leaving her phone where she put it.
