As Eleri is walking from Cysgod y Glyn, she notices a car parked in the back street;

At Penrhewl, Mathew is looking at the laptop, while Sioned is speaking to her mother on the phone; “Yes, you said – no more £20 notes – I’ll phone you if there are any problems.”

Then she complains to Mathew, “If I went off and left Mam high and dry, I wouldn’t hear the end of it!”

| "Do you have any plans for today?" |
Mathew wonders if she has any plans for today and is told that Sioned will just be working, as usual. She asks if he would like a cup of tea before he goes to work,

but he realises that he will have to go now as he is late

| Sioned discovers what he has been looking at |
As soon as he is out of the house, she has a look on the laptop, which he has conveniently left open; she finds that he has been looking at the details of a house, on sale for £230,000.

| "Are there any flowers left in the cemetery?" |
Mark arrives in the Deri flat, carrying a large bunch of flowers; “Are there any flowers left in the cemetery at Bethania?” his mother enquires.
He protests that he is trying to do something nice for her; “Look, Mam, you’ve supported me recently and I just want to say I appreciate everything. What are you doing, then? Keeping your mind busy?”

She wonders why she would want to do that; “Well, after what happened with Brynmor – have you heard from him?

“Kelly is lucky you didn’t scratch her eyes out, from what I heard!”
“Oh, please – she’s not worth it,” Kath replies. He goes on to ask whether it is true that Brynmor still has feelings for her and, when she does not reply,

groans, “Don’t say you feel the same?”

| "Are you here to interrogate me?" |
“Is that why you’re here? To interrogate me?”

| "You can't take him back, Mam" |
Mark insists that she cannot take him back after everything. “I’m not stupid, Mark!” she snarls; he goes on that Brynmor does not deserve her and that she should remember that.

“Listen, I wouldn’t touch him if he was the lottery winner on a rollover week!” she states quite categorically, “Happy now?”
“I should think so, too, after everything he’s done,” Mark goes on, “Can I make a quick cup of tea?”

In the deli, Eleri asks what milks Sioned has got; “Almond, Cashew?” Sioned answers that they have cow and oat. “Oh – I wanted almond for a change, but oats will do,” Eleri sneers.

Then she is informed that they do not take £20 notes, as there are a lot of fake notes going around.

Eleri sounds affronted; “What do you think I am – a hillbilly? I pay with my phone. Bring it over, will you?”

| Ieuan and Anita come in with Siwsi |
She notices that Ieuan and Anita are just coming in, accompanied by Siwsi.
Ieuan thinks that he will go for the BLT and asks what Siwsi would like;

“No, you don’t have to fork out for me,” she protests, but Anita is insistent that she must have something. Siwsi admits that she was in rather a rush this morning.

Eleri is looking pleased to have a chance to put her plan into action.

Mathew is standing outside Tomos ac Ellis, looking at what is on offer, when his phone sounds;

he finds that it is a call from Sioned, but ignores it. Kath is approaching

| "Things are a strain at Penrhewl, are they?" |
and comments, “Things are a strain at Penrhewl, are they?

| "Moving on isn't easy" |
“It must be awkward, living with your ex-girlfriend like that. Good luck, love – moving on isn’t easy.”

| "What if I'm making a huge mistake?" |
she moves away, Mathew asks, “What if I’m making a huge mistake? How do you know, Kath?”

| "You must do what's right for you . . ." |
She replies that he must do what is right for him and no-one else;

“At the end of the day, you’ll have to live with the decision – yeah?”

| They order a veritable feast |
Howard and Mark are at the deli, ordering a rather lavish lunch; “A sausage roll, too,” says Mark, while Howard will have prawn cocktail crisps.

| "As well as the panini and cakes?" |
“As well as the Paninis and cakes?” asks Sioned, so Mark will also have smoky bacon crisps. “Are you starving or what?” she wonders

| "I didn't have a chance to eat this morning" |
and he says that he did not have a chance to eat this morning.
“Neither did I – I was up first thing, feeding the cattle,” adds Howard.

The cost of that lot is £23, but she points out they are not accepting £20 notes; “Can you pay by card?”

| They have both 'forgotten their wallets'" |
Strangely enough, both of them seem to have forgotten their wallets, so she will set up a tab for them, but warns not to say a word to her mother.

Then she sees Mathew walking past the window

and asks, “Can you keep an eye on this place for five minutes, please? You can forget about the tab.” They like the sound of that.

Ieuan looks at his watch and comes to the realisation, “I’m supposed to be in the council chamber, discussing toilets!”

He hurriedly leaves and Eleri sees her chance.

| "It's a girly afternoon" |
“Just the two of you now, is it?” she asks; Siwsi answers that it is a girly afternoon. “You won’t mind if I join you, then.

“I’ve heard high praise for you,” she tells Siwsi.

| "Siwsi's the best thing that's happened to me" |
Anita confirms that they have a lot of fun together and that the arrangement has just started; “Siwsi is the best thing that’s happened to me.”

“So you’re qualified and everything?” Eleri enquires, “That’s handy.”

Mathew is now at APD, but still looking at house details, when Sioned comes in. “You’re going to take the money, then, to buy a house?”

He says that he is just considering it. “Why didn’t you say? We’re supposed to be friends at least.”
“Because I haven’t decided if I’m going to take it yet – my head is all over the shop,” he explains.

She wonders if he has given any more thought about getting professional help, before buying a house. Listen, Math, I know it’s a big step and I know it’s scary – but you can do this.

“And if you don’t want to talk to a counsellor, you can talk to me.”

| "I have enough on my plate as it is" |
“Right, stop, please – I have enough on my plate as it is,” he snaps

and she points out that applies to her as well, then walks out.

Up in the Deri flat, Kath is deep in thought; she picks up her phone and begins a text message,

but then put down the phone again.

| "We'd be bonkers to risk everything!" |
In the kitchen of the deli, Mark snarls, “No, we’d be bonkers to risk everything again!”

Howard maintains they cannot give up now; “Imagine the difference this money could make to our lives!”

| "It's not real money, Howard!" |
Mark points out that it is not real money – they should have known Garry would hide duds in there.

“There’s no point thinking like that, because we’ve got them,” Howard adds, with Mark convinced that his mother will throttle him if she finds out. The last thing he wants is the police hanging round again.

“There’s only one thing we can do then, but we don’t have much time,” says Howard.

“Come on – we’ll have fun!” Howard urges, but Mark reminds him that he almost ended up in the clink last week

“Listen, you go if you want and enjoy yourself, but just be careful, OK?”

Eleri is bored as Anita, goes on about painting with some thick paint which would not mix, asking if Eleri remembers,

but she points out that she was not there.

She goes to the counter, where Siwsi has already been waiting five minutes, as there is no member of staff there.

“Well, I’ve just had an idea that could sort both our problems out,” announces Eleri, “I can’t believe I haven’t thought of it before now.

Siwsi can see where this is going and points out that there are not enough hours in the day as it is,

“The pay is competitive – very competitive – and you could come and go as you please – work around your shifts at APD, as long as you do your hours.

Eleri walks out, leaving Siwsi in quite a quandary.

Kath walks to the Quantum Hydro Works office and is looking in through the window when Eleri approaches;

she takes a great delight in announcing, “He’s not here – he’s gone to Llan or Loch something-or-other – important research on some dam.”

“Didn’t he tell you – you’re not important enough for him to tell you, then,” Eleri sneers.

Matthew is sitting in the Deri when Kath comes in and sits down opposite him;

“Well, I don’t know about you, but my life isn’t a box of chocolates at the moment,” Mathew groans.

Kath enquires whether he has made his decision yet;

“It’s as if I’m at a crossroads – I have an opportunity to change my life here – for the better, I think – and start afresh.

She asks whether he has discussed this with Sioned;

“Well, if you want my advice – and you’re going to get it, anyway – take every chance you get, do you understand? Because it’s better to regret doing something than not doing it.” He muses upon her words.

Ieuan returns to number 7, remarking that the chamber was full with lots of fiery debate. Siwsi and Anita are preparing dinner

Anita comments, “Ieuan doesn’t usually like going to Tomos ac Ellis meetings.”

He lets this go without saying anything; however he would go as far as to say that he can smell some tarragon,

which pleases Siwsi, as she is just trying to add some flavour.

“We have to make the most of it, because Siwsi will be eating at Brynawelon from now on,” Anita informs him.

“No, Siwsi works at APD and here,” Ieuan corrects her;

Anita continues that Eleri has offered her a job. Siwsi had been hoping that Anita had not heard that, and Ieuan cannot believe that she is going to work at Brynawelon.

“I couldn’t refuse – I’m gutted that I can’t keep coming here, but I don’t have a choice – the money is too good and I can work around my shifts at APD.”
Ieuan suggests that she could work at number 7 instead of APD,

so she asks, “Is there any chance you can match the pay?” This is not what Ieuan wanted to hear.

and Mark snarls at him, “What are you doing? You might as well stick a Post-it note on your forehead saying you’re flogging the fake cash!” Howard replies that he just got a bit excited.

Kath remarks, “Blimey, Howard – warn me next time, will you? I need shades to look at you.”

He maintains that he got a bonus at work and bought it at a secondhand shop.

Kath immediately smells a rat here; “Fancy flowers and a snazzy shirt for Howard – in the same week that there’s fake cash going about?

“Is this something to do with you, Mark? Do you know what? Two minutes ago, you almost went down for something else.”

He tells his mother to hang on a minute; “I haven’t touched the money since we found it was dodgy – he’s spent the job lot now, so there’s no need to worry. There’s no way they can trace it back to us, OK?”

Kath urges him to be careful.

When Sioned return returns home to Penrhewl, she finds Mathew in the kitchen, although she was expecting him to be in the Deri.

She tells him, “Look, if you want to buy a house with that money, go for it – but I do think you should spend some of it on a good counsellor.”

He nods his head; “Well, it’s time for me to go and see someone, then,” he decides

and Sioned is sure that he will not regret it, as it helped her so much when she lost her father.

He continues that his grandfather ruined his childhood and his life is in pieces;
“But I have an opportunity to change the future and start afresh, so I am going to take every penny, because I’d be stupid to refuse it.”

At Cysgod y Glyn, Eleri is preparing to pour herself a glass of wine when the buzzer sounds;

As the door opens, she says, “Listen, Kath, it’s not my fault that Dad has gone to Scotland,”

then realises that her visitor is, in fact, Ieuan Griffiths.

| "I wondered how you sleep at night . . ." |
Seeing her with the bottle, he remarks, “You have to knock yourself out do you? I was wondering how you sleep at night –

“but I forgot you don’t have a conscience.”

| "Are you here to insult me?" |
“Is there something I can help you with, or are you here to insult me?” she demands, “Whatever it is, can you hurry up? I’ve got a lot to do.”

| "You took advantage of our tragic situation" |
“You took advantage of mine and Anita’s tragic situation – you stole Siwsi from under our noses. Don’t you care about an ill woman who’s facing the end of her life, knowing that her mind is going?”

Eleri does not reply

| "What are we supposed to do now?" |
as he continues, “What are we supposed to do now?”

| "I needed staff" |
Eleri maintains that she needed staff,

| "You don't think of anyone but yourself, do you?" |
so he snarls, “You really don’t think about anyone but yourself, do you?”
She prefers to describe the situation as seeing an opportunity and taking advantage of it;

“That’s business and you, of all people, should know that.”

| "Anita isn't businass, right?" |
“Anita isn’t business, right?” he rages,
“No wonder your own father can’t stand you!”

She orders him to get out, and as he goes,
