| "I always thought she was 'gritty'" |
Jinx comments that he always thought that Kelly was quite ‘gritty’,
![]() |
| "No, more like 'flakey'" |
but Eleri insists that the correct word is ‘flaky’.
![]() |
| "Do you want the job?" |
When he enquires whether she wants the job, she replies, “Probably – I don’t want to look desperate – you’re the desperate one, Huw.
![]() |
| "Let them stew – I'm going for a shower" |
“They have made a huge mistake and they’ve realised it. And now they want to employ the person they should have given the job to in the first place. Let them stew – I’m going for a shower.

| "Perhaps that omelette will be ready" |
“Perhaps that omelette will be ready when I’m out.”
![]() |

![]() |
| "Did the bins go out last night?" |
she asks whether the bins went out last night and he reports that he did that. After having picked up the Western Post,
![]() |
| "You're following me around like a shadow" |
she turns around and finds him right behind her. “You’re following me around like a shadow,” she complains,
![]() |
| "Every time I turn round, you're there!" |
“Every time I turn round, you’re there. You’re making me feel like I’m on pins.

| "I'm going upstairs to get some peace" |
“I’m going upstairs to read for a while, to get five minutes’ peace.”
![]() |
| "I'll pop out for some milk . . ." |
He thinks that it might be a good time to pop out to get some milk from the shop
![]() |
| ". . . and make a cup of tea when I get back" |
and he will make her a cup of tea when he gets back.
![]() |
| Gaynor is about to do some excavation . . . |

![]() |
| . . . but or course Tom is there |
but of course Tom appears and demands what she is doing.
![]() |
| She says nothing |
She does not answer.
![]() |
| "I'm happy to leave it with you" |
When Eleri comes back downstairs, she is speaking, on her phone this time, to Brynawelon; “There we are, then. I’m happy to leave it with you – take your time.”
![]() |
| "Have you accepted the job?" |
Jinx assumes that she has accepted the job; “Not on the terms they’re offering!
![]() |
| "I want a car and £5,000 extra" |
“I told them I’ve been offered another job, but that I would prefer to work at Brynawelon. So if they can give me a company car and increase the pay by £5,000 a year to match the other job . . .”
![]() |
| "Which doesn't exist" |
“Which doesn’t exist,” interrupts Jinx.”
![]() |
| "Hey, you're a fast learner" |
“Hey, you’re a fast learner,” she comments, “Then I would be delighted to accept the job.”
![]() |
| "Do they call that blackmail or bluff?" |
Jinx enquires as to whether they call that blackmail or bluff. She thinks that it involves a bit of both.
![]() |
| "Don't you think it's going a bit far?" |
“Don’t you think that asking for a company car is going a bit far?” he asks and she readily agrees that it is asking too much, which is the point.
![]() |
| 'they will refuse the car, but agree the money" |
“They will refuse the car but agree to the pay rise,” she confidently predicts.
![]() |
| "I didn't want to hang around" |
When Ieuan returns with the milk, Anita is sitting in a chair, reading the paper; he says that he did not want to loiter and will now make a cup of tea.
![]() |
| "Something's burning!" |
However, he finds that something in the oven is burning,
![]() |
| He disposes of it outside |
which he quickly removes and takes out of the back door for disposal.
Anita gets up from her chair to investigate
![]() |
| Anita falls to the floor . . . |
and falls to the floor;
![]() |
| . . . with Ieuan helping her up . . . |
he rushes to help her up
![]() |
| . . . and back to the chair |
and back into the chair.
![]() |
| "Is this where you buried her?" |
Gaynor demands, “Is this where you buried her? Is this where you buried the body?” Tom looks at her incredulously, maintaining that he does not know what she is talking about.
![]() |
| "Cheryl's body" |
“Cheryl’s body,” says Gaynor.
![]() |
| "She's not dead – she ran away" |
“No, Cheryl is not dead – she ran away,” he maintains,
![]() |
| "How long have you been staring here?" |
“Gaynor, you’re freezing – how long have you been standing here? You’re shivering.”
![]() |
| "You said she had and accident and fell" |
“No, no – you said that she had an accident and fell . . . she accidentally fell and died!”
“Can you hear yourself?” he replies, but she continues to insist that he said he had buried the body.
![]() |
| "Don't you hear how crazy you sound?" |
“Don’t you hear how crazy you sound?
![]() |
| "You must have caught hypothermia" |
“You must have caught hypothermia or something, because confusion and rambling is one of the symptoms.
![]() |
| "You're as white as a ghost" |
“Look at you – you’re as white as a ghost – please come to the house to warm up.”
She refuses,
![]() |
| "I'll get you a blanket" |
so he will go and get her a blanket,
![]() |
| "What's going on?" |
while she is becoming very confused.
![]() |
| "I know I'm not supposed to cook" |
“I know I’m not supposed to cook when I’m in the house on my own,” admits Anita, but Ieuan tells her not to worry about that,
![]() |
| "Perhaps we should take you to A&E" |
suggesting that perhaps they should take her to A&E, just to be safe.
“To sit there for hours?” she sighs, “No, no – I fell over the blinking table, that’s all.” Ieuan asks whether she felt lightheaded or if she lost her balance,
![]() |
| "I tripped – like anyone can trip!" |
so she snarls, “I tripped, Ieuan – like anyone can trip! The table was in the way! How many times do I need to say it?”
![]() |
| "Would you like a ham sandwich?" |
He wonders whether she would like a ham sandwich, or there is plenty of cheese left,
![]() |
| "I don't want anything now" |
but Anita does not want anything now.
![]() |
| Now Tom plies Gaynor with alcohol |
As well as a blanket, Tom has brought a drink for Gaynor,
![]() |
| "It will do you good" |
alleging that it will do her good.
![]() |
| "I haven't imagined this" |
“I haven’t imagined this, or misremembered, because I did find Cheryl’s phone in a box in the shed and you confessed everything to me, didn’t you?”
![]() |
| "I confessed that I found the phone" |
“I confessed that I found the phone, yes – and I confessed that I sent those messages because Mark was making such a fuss.”
![]() |
| "You deceived us all" |
Gaynor mutters that he deceived them all.
![]() |
| "No, Cheryl was the one who deceived us" |
“No, Cheryl was the one who deceived us all – you know that, Gaynor,” he insists, “She saw an opportunity – she left her phone behind so that no-one could contact her.
![]() |
| "I was trying to give you closure" |
“All I’ve done is to try and give you closure.”
![]() |
| Her glass is empty again |
As Gaynor drains her glass,
![]() |
| "I could see how worried you were" |
he continues, “I could see how worried you were and I couldn’t bear to see how she still had a grip on you, even after she left. She’s probably got a completely different life now.”
![]() |
| He gives Gaynor a top-up |
He refills Gaynor’s glass; “She has a new phone, new people to deceive and use.
![]() |
| "If you really think that . . ." |
“Gaynor, if you really think I killed Cheryl and buried her in the garden, then you’ve got to phone the police, haven’t you?
![]() |
| The alcohol is doing its job . . . |
“You don’t have a choice. That's the only way you’ll find out the truth, isn’t it?”
![]() |
| . . . Gaynor does not know what to think |
She looks at him with a mixture of confusion and disbelief,
![]() |
| She heads back to the house |
picks up her glass and the bottle, heading back towards the house,
![]() |
| "That should have done the trick" |
while he hopes that he has persuaded her.
![]() |
| Ieuan has made his salad |
Ieuan has made himself a ham salad when Anita comes in,
![]() |
| "I must have fallen asleep" |
realising that she must have fallen asleep as it is four o’clock.
![]() |
| "Haven't you got a council meeting?" |
“Haven’t you got a council meeting or something?”
![]() |
| "Don't worry about that" |
He tells her not to worry about that as he has sent his apologies.
“I thought we could go for a walk to APD if you fancy; “Siwsi said that Mathew is in and I want to ask him if I can cut my hours.”
![]() |
| "I thought you enjoyed working at APD" |
Anita was under the impression that he enjoyed working at APD, and he agrees that of course he does,
![]() |
| "I'd rather be spending time with you" |
but not half as much as he enjoys spending time with her.
![]() |
| "A bit of fresh air will do you good" |
“Come on – a bit of fresh air will do you good,” he tells her, “But if you don’t want to, it can wait until tomorrow.”
![]() |
| "OK, I'll come, then" |
Anita agrees that she will accompany him.
![]() |
| One last mouthful |
He will go and get her coat.
![]() |
| Gaynor tries to work it out |
Back in the house, Gaynor is trying to make sense of everything
![]() |
| "How could I have imagined it?" |
as she drinks more. “I just can’t understand how I could imagine something so significant – it doesn’t make sense.
![]() |
| "I'm not the kind of person who misunderstands" |
“I’m not the sort of person who misunderstands things, am I?”
![]() |
| "I know what this is . . ." |
first Tom does not say anything, but then says he knows what this is,
![]() |
| He picks up the snow globe |
picking up the snow globe ornament;
![]() |
| ". . . you've fallen for Cai, haven't you? . . ." |
“You’ve fallen for Cai, haven’t you?
![]() |
| ". . . and don't have guts to be honest with me" |
“And you don’t have the guts to be honest with me about it – so you had to turn me into some monster and justify that . . .”
![]() |
| "That's all in the past!" |
She shouts that she has no feelings for Cai; “That’s all in the past!”
“So you did have a relationship?” says Tom,
![]() |
| "It was a long time ago" |
but she protests that it was a long time ago.
![]() |
| "I knew it!" |
“I knew it! I knew it!” he rages,
![]() |
| "Don't start playing games with me, right?" |
“Don’t start playing games with me, right? If you’re getting cold feet, you have to tell me now!”
![]() |
| "I'm not getting cold feet" |
She is adamant that she is not getting cold feet,
![]() |
| He flings the ornament to the floor |
but in his fury he fling the ornament to the ground, smashing it to pieces,
![]() |
| "What are you saying, then?" |
demanding, “What, then? What are you saying? That you’re happy to marry a man you think is a murderer? Someone who buries women in the back garden?
![]() |
| "Is that the sort of woman you are?" |
“Is that the sort of woman you are, Gaynor?”
![]() |
| "I was just about to close" |
Siwsi opens the door of APD for Anita and Ieuan; she says that she was about to close the shop for the day and Ieuan points out that he will not keep her for long;
![]() |
| "Is Mathew around?" |
“Is Mathew around?” She says that they have just missed him, so Ieuan will speak to him another time.
![]() |
| "Perhaps you can help us" |
“Hang on a minute, now,” says Anita, “Perhaps you can help us.”
![]() |
| Siwsi is intrigued |
Siwsi is intrigued.
![]() |
| "Any news from Brynawelon?" |
In the Deri, Jinx and Eleri have their drinks and he asks whether there is any news from Brynawelon.
![]() |
| "Perhaps you've been a bit too cocky" |
As there is not, he suspects that she has been just a little too cocky, asking for an extra £5,000 and a car. “It’s a bit greedy, isn’t it? No wonder they haven’t phoned.”
![]() |
| "It's Brynawelon now" |
At that exact moment, Eleri’s phone sounds;
![]() |
| "I'm glad to hear it" |
“Hello, oh, good. I’m glad to hear it – no problem at all –
![]() |
| "I'm looking forward to being the new manager" |
“I’m looking forward to being the new manager of Brynawelon.”
![]() |
| "Unbelievable!" |
Jinx mutters under his breath, “Unbelievable!”
![]() |
| "No to the car, yes to the money" |
“Just what I was expecting – no to the car, yes to the money,” she brags, “I know how to play the game.”
![]() |
| "I can see how worried Ieuan is" |
“I can look after myself – well, most of the time, but I can see how worried Ieuan is about me,” Anita tells Siwsi. “I don’t want his life to change because of my illness –
![]() |
| "I don't want him to lose his freedom" |
“I don’t want him to lose his freedom.”
![]() |
| "I'm not losing anything" |
He protests that he is not losing anything, but she insists that he will if he stops going out and doing things. “That’s why we have to accept that we need some help.”
![]() |
| "And you need my help" |
Siwsi realises that they need her help;
![]() |
| "You've got the experience" |
“You’ve got the experience, haven’t you? And more importantly, we’re friends, aren’t we?”
![]() |
| "I'd love to help" |
Siwsi would love to help, if they are both sure, but Ieuans maintain that it will only be now and again, if he has to pop out to a council meeting or something.
![]() |
| "A game of golf or a few pints with the boys" |
Anita adds, “And if you want a game of golf – or a few pints with the boys.
![]() |
| "I want you to enjoy yourself" |
“I want you to be able to enjoy yourself rather than worry about me and rush home all the time.”
![]() |
| "She's the one who wants some peace from me" |
Ieuan imagines that Anita is the one who wants some peace from him.
![]() |
| "We'll keep each other company" |
Siwsi proposes that they will keep each other company.
![]() |
| "Is cash in hand all right?" |
Ieuan wonders if cash in hand would be all right, so they would not have to go through the agency.
![]() |
| "That would suit me perfectly" |
Siwsi agrees that would suit her perfectly.
Now Ieuan will treat Anita to dinner in the Deri;
![]() |
| Anita fancies cheese on toast |
Anita thinks that she will have something simple like cheese on toast and winks at Siwsi as she leaves the shop.
![]() |
| Gaynor is about to clear up |
Gaynor is about to sweep up the broken pieces of glass from the ornament
![]() |
| "Leave it" |
when Tom tells her to leave it. She does as he instructs, assuring him that there is no-one else and that there never will be;
![]() |
| "I've chosen you" |
“I’ve chosen you – I don’t know what else to say, apart from sorry. I’m sorry I misunderstood things.
![]() |
| "Do you still love me?" |
“Do you still love me?”
![]() |
| "You thought I'd killed your sister" |
“You thought I’d killed your sister earlier – or at least someone you thought was your sister,” he replies
![]() |
| "I never really thought you could do such a thing" |
“But I never really thought you could do such a thing – how could I? I’m perfectly sure. It’s you I want.”
![]() |
| "I love you more than I've ever loved anyone" — pass the bucket! |
He gives the impression that his attitude towards her is softening; “Gaynor, I love you more than I’ve ever loved anyone,” he (sickeningly} maintains,
![]() |
| "But love means nothing without trust" |
“And you won’t find anyone else who worships you as much as I do – but love means nothing without trust.
![]() |
| "How are we going to survive?" |
“How are we going to survive this if you still doubt me?”
![]() |
| "I don't doubt you" |
She is adamant that she does not doubt him – and promises never to do so again.
![]() |
| "You're just saying that" |
“You’re just saying that,” he sneers, but she insists that she does trust him completely –
![]() |
| "Please forgive me!" |
for better or worse. Gaynor begs him to forgive her
![]() |
| "All right" |
and he, rather unconvincingly, says that he does, giving her a hug,
![]() |
| He has Gaynor just where he wants her |
but the manipulative, controlling look is still evident on his face.
