Gaynor gets up . . .

Gaynor comes downstairs

. . . and finds a note from Tom

and finds a scribbled note on the table together with a phone;  she looks at the note,

She heads for the kitchen . . .

then walks into the kitchen,

. . . then realises . . .

but returns when she sees the snow globe –

. . . the snow globe is intact again . . .

intact and in its usual position on the sideboard.

. . . which causes her some confusion

She finds this very confusing, as Tom obviously intended.

Siôn studies a photo

At Y Felin, Siôn is looking at a photo of the unborn child;

"Since you dragged us all off to the Louvre"

Iolo comments, “I don’t remember you staring at a photo for so long since you dragged us all to the Louvre.”

"This is better than the Mona Lisa"

His father maintains that the photo is better than the Mona Lisa;  “Do you think it would be a good idea to do something with Liv as a family?

"We could invite her for a meal"

“We could invite her for a meal, perhaps,”

Iolo is dubious

but Iolo is not sure about that.

"She would love a nice meal in the Deri"

“I’m sure she would love a nice meal in the Deri –  a chance to show her that she has a family around her – what do you think?”

Iolo says nothing

Iolo appears to be unable to make up his mind.

"Ffion – are you here?"

Gaynor arrives at Deri Fawr and calls for Ffion,

"Sorry, I overslept"

who is just coming downstairs in her dressing gown;  she apologises for having slept late, as she is making the most of her time off school.

"You don't remember, do you?"

“You don’t remember, do you?” says Gaynor, “We’ve arranged to go to a spa today.”

"I had totally forgotten"

Ffion, presumably with more important things on her mind, had totally forgotten.

"I don't know where my head is at the moment"

Gaynor would have reminded her, “But my head has been . . . well, I don’t know where my head has been recently.”

Ffion suggests that Gaynor should go to the spa;

"I'll join you when I'm ready"

“And I’ll join you when I’m ready, all right?”

When Gaynor has gone . . .

After Gaynor has left,

. . . Tom comes downstairs

Tom creeps downstairs and Ffion sighs, “That was close!”

"Good job I left the car at work"

He is glad that he left the car at work or she would have seen it outside.

"Lucky it wasn't Arwen"

“Lucky it wasn’t Arwen home from her trip early,” Ffion adds,

"I' are you can stay another half hour"

as he encourages her that she must be able to stay for another half an hour.

Ffion tries to resist, arguing that she has promised to go, so sends him upstairs to get dressed.   He demands, “Have I understood this correctly?   You've agreed to spend the whole day in the spa at the Glyndwr with Gaynor?”

"You need to get dressed!"

Ffion replies, “Will it be weird?  Yes – but now you need to get dressed!”

"Enjoying being home, then?"

At Maes-y-Deri, Mark is finishing his breakfast and Howard comments, “Enjoying being home, then?”

"You have no idea"

“You have no idea how it feels – I can look forward again and plan for the future.”

"Can you go back to work?"

Howard asks if he can go back to work now;  Mark hopes that he can, but they are still discussing it.

"We've got plenty of work clearing the lock-up"

“Anyway we’ve got plenty of work clearing that lock-up.”   Howard hopes that they are going to get their money back somehow.

Llinos is just leaving

As Llinos leaves the deli, Eileen asks, “Do we have to, Siôn?”

'It will just be the four of us"

He answers that it will only be the two of them, Iolo and Liv and will be a chance to show their support.

"I have nothing in common with her"

“But I have nothing in common with her,” Eileen moans.   She is reminded that by February, she will be a grandma.

"It would mean the world to Iolo and me"

Siôn begs her, maintaining that it would mean the world to him and Iolo.

"Looking forward to it!" — yeah, right

She says, without much enthusiasm, that she is looking forward to it.

"The Beaujolais Sisters"

Cassie and Britt come in and Siôn remarks, “Oh, here they are, the Beaujolais sisters!   If there’s any wine left over, you can cook with it – Poire a la Beaujolais.”

Britt also suggests that there is ‘coq au vin’, adding that they are there to discuss the wine enterprise, as it happens.

"See you tonight, Eileen"

Siôn wishes them good luck with that and will see Eileen tonight.

"No thanks to you!"

“You’re still together, then?” observes Cassie.   Eileen snarls that it is no thanks to them.

"Why did you tell Siôn I was in Cardiff?"

“Why did you tell Siôn that I was in Cardiff?”

"Because that's what you told us"

Britt points out that Eileen told her that herself – and that it was a lie.   She insists that she had her reasons.

"Or needs!"

“Or needs!” Cassie snaps, and Britt confirms that they had a very constructive meeting without her.   “We don’t want you to think we’re looking after ourselves,” Cassie goes on.

"You changed the venue to the Deri"

“By changing the venue from here to the Deri?   Why would I think that?”demands Eileen.  Britt points out that they had to press ahead with the planning or they will all lose out.

"Urgent meeting – tonight!"

Cassie is adamant that they will lose out if they do not pull their fingers out, “So an urgent meeting has been organised in the Deri tonight.   Kath cannot make it, but Cassie protests that she wants everyone else there.

"You're used to combining business and pleasure"

Eileen cannot be there as she is meeting Siôn and the family tonight.   Cassie sneers, “Well, you are used to combining business and pleasure, Eileen –

"See you tonight"

“see you tonight.”

"Why do people keep empty Hoover boxes?"

As they continue to plough through the rubbish in the lock-up, Mark groans, “Do you know what I’ve never understood?   Why people keep empty Hoover boxes?”   Howard cannot understand anyone keeping a bucket with a hole in it.

Then Mark finds something which might be interesting, in the form of a large bag.

"Dust sheet and a towel"

Howard looks inside to find an old dust sheet and a towel,

"Why keep them in a bag?"

but Mark cannot understand why such things would be kept in a bag so delves deeper into the bag,

"There's hole in the lining "

discovering that there is a hole in the lining.

"Look . . . "

He comes up with several bundles of notes,

". . . payday!"

and excitedly exclaims, “Payday!

That was a very quick day

Later, Ffion and Gaynor return to Deri Fawr, with Ffion very complimentary about the masseuse;

"You fell asleep through the massage"

“She must have known what she was doing if you fell asleep through the massage.”

Gaynor admits that she has not been sleeping well, but dismisses it as nothing;

"Can you believe Arwen's turning 16?"

Ffion proposes she will make a cup of tea before Gaynor goes, as she has no other plans today, apart from buying a birthday present for Arwen;  “Can you believe she’s turning 16?”

"How are things at school?"

Gaynor asks how things are going back at school,

"It will take time to find my feet"

and Ffion imagines that it will take a while to find her feet properly.

"I miss the place"

“I never thought I’d say this, but I miss the place,” Gaynor sighs, “The routine, the bustle.”

"The very things Im haven't missed"

Ffion regards them as the very things that she has not missed

"You have the wedding to keep you busy now"

and adds, “You have the wedding to keep you busy now.”

"I need you to be completely honest"

“Oh, don’t!” Gaynor groans, “I don’t want to think about the wedding – things aren’t right, Ffion.   I’ve had something on my mind for a while now – and I don’t know what to do about it.   But I do need you to be completely honest with me.”

"Aargh!   She's found out!"

Ffion is dreading that her affair with Tom has been discovered;  “Look, Gaynor, whatever you’re going to say . . .”

"I think I have a problem with alcohol"

Gaynor goes on, “I need help – I think I have a problem with alcohol!”

"Oh – that's a relief!

This comes as quite a relief to Ffion.

Liv arrives at Y Felin

As Iolo comes downstairs, there is a knock at the door and he welcomes Liv;  he tells her that she looks lovely

"There's no need to be nervous"

and adds, “There’s no need to be nervous, all right.”

"What sort of woman is Eileen?"

“What sort of woman is Eileen?” Liv asks and Iolo tries to think of the right words.

"She's . . . strong . . ."

“Strong, but I’m sure you’ll get on great – Dad is insisting on paying,

". . . at least we'll get a free meal"

so at least we’ll get a free meal.   Right, I’ll go and get my jacket – and don’t worry – it will be fine!”

Liv is apprehensive

It is evident that she is not so sure about that.

The finances are not looking good

Up in the Deri flat, the calculations reveal that even if they sold every ticket, it is unlikely that they will make a profit.   “People have already bought tickets to go to Swansea,” says Cassie.

"We're in danger of making a huge loss"

Eileen arrives;  “I’ve looked at these figures and we’re in danger of making a huge loss – why didn’t you flag this up at the meeting?   The first rule of business – don’t bury your head in the sand!

"I would never have advised to change the venue"

“Sorry, the Deri’s clientèle isn’t quite the same as Tamed’s – I would never have advised you to change the venue.”

"Perhaps you should have turned up at the meeting"

Cassie reminds her, “Perhaps you should have turned up at the meeting instead of going to see Bedwyr in Cardiff, or wherever he lives.”

"Stop acting so innocent"

Britt tells Eileen to stop acting so innocent.

"I went to Carmarthen to get something"

“Listen to me – I went to Carmarthen to get something!” Eileen growls

Off she flounces

as she picks up her files and walks out.

"Some business partner!"

Cassie remarks, “You’d rather talk to Bedwyr than talk about overheads with us – some business partner!”

"It's affecting my memory"

Gaynor continues, “I’ve been struggling with it for a while now – bingeing and doing silly things, regrets, but it started to reach the point where it’s affecting my memory and how I process things – how I interpret events.”

"Has anything happened"

Ffion asks if anything has happened;  “Well, yes – I’m having trouble remembering things properly –

"Significant things"

“and not small unimportant things, but significant things.”

"That sounds like blackouts to me"

“That sounds like blackouts to me – I’ve had my share of those, Ffion admits.   Gaynor needs advice on how to quit.

"Is there a reason you started?"

“Is there a reason why you started to drink like this?” she is asked, but does not know the answer,

"Probably arranging this wedding"

imagining that it is probably arranging this wedding.

"Is everything all right between you and Tom?"

“And is everything all right between you and Tom?”   Gaynor replies that it is and is sorry for the way she has been behaving lately, describing herself as a bit of a ‘bridezilla’.

"Alcohol turns me into a person I don't like"

She hates it and has no excuse;  “Alcohol turns me into a person I don't like.”

"Can Tom support you through this?"

Ffion assures her, “I’m here for you, all right?   And having the support of family and friends is important, too – and Tom – can he support you through this?”

"I'm scared of letting him down"

“I haven’t told him – I’m scared of letting him down,” Gaynor groans, “Opening a bottle of wine has been a large part of our relationship from the start – pathetic, isn’t it?”

"You shouldn't be afraid"

Ffion advises that she should not be afraid, so Gaynor decides that she will tell him tonight.   “Because I don’t think I’d like it if he kept a big secret from me –

"Thanks, Ffion – you're a good friend"

“Thanks, Ffion – you’re a good friend.

"If she only knew . . ."

“You have no idea how much I need one of those at the moment.”

The money is counted . . .

As they sit, counting the money,

"It was  £5,600 last time"

Mark announces, “£5,600.”   Howard points out that the last time they counted it was £5,200.

"I haven't seen this much cash in my life"

“I haven’t seen this much cash in my life,” gasps Mark;

"Nor me!"

 neither has Howard.

"We're like the Krays"

Mark likens them to the Krays,

"Or Bonnie and Clyde"

“Or Bonnie and Clyde,” Howard adds.   They agree that it is important they keep quiet about this, as they do not want Britt finding out – not to mention Garry –

"We mustn't flash the cash"

so they must not brag about it or flash the cash.

“What are we going to do with it, then?” Howard wonders;  Mark will use his share to try and find a new house, but Howard imagines that he will need help to spend his.   “Do you fancy a point and a pie in the Deri?” he is asked,

"We can do better than that"

but imagines that they can do better than that.

Eileen proves where she went . . .

Eileen is at the bar in the Deri;  she tells Cassie and Britt, “As you wanted to know, this is what I picked up from Carmarthen – I got one for Kath as well – something to say thank you for all your support recently – but I don’t know whether you deserve them now.

. . . to get aprons for Cassie and Britt

Britt puts on her apron with the inscription ‘Chwiorydd Beaujolais[Beaujolais Sisters]

"Sorry for doubting you"

and tells Eileen that they are lovely – they are sorry for doubting her.

Eileen confesses that she is sorry for getting them into this mess in the first place;

"If I hadn't put my hand up at that auction . . ."

“If I hadn’t put my hand up in that blinking auction . . . we’re going to make a huge loss.”

"We have to think of Plan B . . ."

Cassie suggests that they will have to think of a Plan B;  “Yes, plan B – B for Beaujolais,” says Britt.

". . . B for Bedwyr"

Cassie was thinking more in terms of, “B for Bedwyr – listen, Eileen, I don’t want to ask this, but would you go and see him once more to cancel the order and ask if we can have our money back?”

"It wouldn't be fair on Siôn"

“No, I’m not going to see him again – it wouldn’t be fair on Siôn,” Eileen replies

Liv arrives at the Deri

and at that moment he arrives, together with Liv and Iolo.   Siôn admires the apron.

"There's no need to be so formal"

Eileen introduces herself to Liv;  “There’s no need to be so formal,” says Siôn, “Liv’s carrying your grandson or granddaughter – give her a cwtch!”

Something Iolo thought he would never see

Eileen briefly does so, much to the surprise of Iolo.   “You look very well, considering everything,” Eileen remarks.

Cassie has prepared a table for them in the corner, away from the draught

"If this is going to be too much for you . . ."

and Iolo cautions Liv, “If this is going to be too much for you, just say, right?”

"Dad's obviously very excited"

Then he apologises for his father’s enthusiasm;  “Dad’s obviously very excited about being a grandfather again.”   Eileen remarks that she is lucky she has not had a poem from him.

"Don't worry – you'll get one"

“Oh, you’ll get one once he or she – or they – are born,” Siôn assures her,

"I think we'd better look at the menu"

so Iolo thinks they had better look at the menus.

"Liv should have what she wants"

“There are plenty of healthy options here, Liv – salad . . .”   Eileen interrupts to say that Liv should have what she wants, as nine months is a long time.

"Shall we have an apéritif?"

Mark and Howard come in, considering having an aperitif to start with and Cassie remarks on their good mood;  Mark replies that they are celebrating.

"Celebrating your freedom, is it?"

“Celebrating your freedom, is it?” she asks.   Howard orders two large whiskies and would like to see the menu.   Mark adds that they will have a look at the wine list when she gets a chance.

"How was the spa?"

Gaynor returns home to Llwyncelyn and Tom immediately asks her, “How was the spa?”

"How did you know?"

She wonders how he knew she had been to the spa, so he explains that he saw Ffion in the street

"Ffion said she enjoyed it"

and she said that she enjoyed it.

"I'll have it later"

He will get her a glass of wine, but she thinks that perhaps she will have that later, so he wants to know why not now.

"I'm picking up the takeaway . . ."

He has ordered a takeaway and will be going to pick it up now;  he will not be long.   He hands the glass to her,

". . . if I'm lucky there might be a glass left"

commenting, “You start and, if I’m lucky, there might be a glass left for me.”

As soon as he leaves . . .

As soon as he leaves the house, she gets up

. . . she pours away the wine . . .

and pours the wine down the sink,

. . . and is looking determined

as she wears a determined look.

"Shall we have another one?"

Mark and Howard are enjoying their meal and decide they will have another drink,

"As Garry is paying!"

“As Garry is paying!” Mark laughs.

"I really wanted the burger and chips"

Liv thanks Eileen for tonight;  “I really wanted the burger and chips!”

"Men will never understand what it's like . . ."

Eileen points out that men will never understand what it is like to carry a child.

". . . or what it feels like to give one away"

“Or what it feels like to give one away,” she adds, “I was in a similar position to you once – only a mother knows what’s best for her child.”   As she goes to the bar, Eileen is asked by Cassie how the big show is going.

“I feel like I’m on trial – I don’t know how poor Liv feels,” says Eileen.

"I know you don't want to see that Bedwyr again"

Britt raises the subject again;  “Listen, Eileen, I know you don’t want to see that Bedwyr again, but he might know someone who would want to buy all the bottles.”   Cassie thinks it is worth considering that idea, as it is the only way they will get their money back.

"Get him to agree – then you never have to see him again"

“All you have to do is use your charms, get him to agree – and then you never have to see him again,” Britt continues,

"We might be able to think of a new enterprise . . ."

although Cassie insists that they do not want her to do anything that she does not want to do.   “But if we get our money back, we might be able to think of a new enterprise

"Brighton, Blackpool"

“that will allow us to go to Brighton, Blackpool . . .”

"New York?"

Cassie adds, “New York?”

Eileen may be coming around to their way of thinking

“Come on,Eileen – for the Beaujolais Sisters?”   A hint of a smile crosses Eileen’s face.
