Eileen looks pleased with herself

Eileen is scrubbing her nails in the shop flat kitchen

"You were up early"

when Siôn comes in, wishing her good morning and commenting that she was up early.

"I'm a busy woman"

“I’m a busy woman – right, breakfast?” she replies,

"I'd better face Iolo"

but he thinks he had better go home to face Iolo.

"Don't let him bully you, Siôn"

She advises, “Don’t let him bully you,” but he says that his son is worried about Alex.

"He should be worried about his father"

“He should be worried about his father – what he’s asking is completely unfair,” she insists.

"It's only a test"

Siôn points out that it is only a test;  “But if you’re a match, you will have to take it further – and give her your kidney.   “You should be thinking of yourself, not everyone else.”

“But if I can help,” he begins

"You're not as fit as you were"

and Eileen reminds him that he is a man in his late 50s, who is not as fit as he was.

He thanks her for that vote of confidence, but she goes on, “More than that, you have no idea who this woman is.

"You saw how she deceived Iolo"

“You saw yourself how she deceived Iolo – she was more than willing to say goodbye to him, once she knew she couldn’t have his kidney.”

Fflamingo has been fly-posted

Kelly is angrily ripping down anti-drugs posters from all over the Fflamingo van as Rhys approaches.

"They've got memories like elephants!"

“That’s what I love about people in Cwmderi – they’ve got memories like elephants!” she snarls.   He tells her he has a couple of orders to sort out, and then he will help her to clean up.

"Why did Jason have to be such an idiot?"

“Why did Jason have to be such an idiot?” Kelly demands and,

"What's all this, then?"

at that moment, Eileen happens to be coming round the corner, expressing mock surprise at what has happened to the van.

"It's a bit obvious, isn't it?"

“It’s a bit obvious isn’t it?” growls Kelly.

"People feel strongly about drugs"

“Well, people do feel strongly about drugs, don’t they?” is Eileen’s reply.

"Shame they don't feel strongly about vandalism"

Rhys comments, “It’s a shame people don’t feel strongly about vandalism!”   Eileen says that neither the police or the council are interested.

"Are you just here to stir?"

“Do you want something, Eileen, or are you just here to stir?” Kelly enquires

"I want to discuss business"

and is told that Eileen wants to discuss business.

"O don't think we have anything to discuss"

“I don’t think we have any business to discuss,” is Kelly’s acerbic reply.

“I’ve been thinking again about this van,” she continues

"Competition is healthy "

and Rhys interrupts to say that competition is healthy.   Eileen resumes, “I like a little bit more control.”

Kelly is impatient to find out exactly what she wants;

"Buying Fflamingo"

“What I want is to sort out our problems– by buying Fflamingo.”

"It's a bit late to show your face"

Siôn arrives home and is told by Iolo that it is a bit late to show his face;  “I’ve had to take Greta to the Easter Club already.”

"I'm sorry – I forgot"

Siôn had forgotten all about that and is sorry.   “Well, don’t worry – I’ll see you tonight,” Iolo grumbles as he heads off to work.

“Before you go, can we have a chat?   Talk sensibly?” His father requests,

"I have to go to work"

but Iolo stresses that he has to go to work.

"I want to talk about Alex"

“I’ve said I'm sorry – don’t be so stubborn – I want to talk about Alex.”

"Have you decided to take the test?"

Iolo wonders if he has decided to take the test, and Siôn evades answering by saying, “I know how important this is is to you, but, believe it or not, helping someone is indeed important to me as well –

"I have to think about myself here"

“but I have to think of myself here.”

"Sometimes we have to be brave"

Iolo can understand that;  “But sometimes we have to be brave and make those difficult decisions.”

“I have to think about what could happen, if it turns out I am suitable.”   Iolo insists that his father could save Alex’s life and surely he does not want to regret not doing that.

"But, as Eileen said . . ."

“But, as Eileen said . . .”   Iolo is furious that his father has been discussing this with Eileen.   “Just to get an objective opinion, that’s all,” he is told.

"This is a matter for Alex and the family"

“This is a matter for Alex and the family – not everyone else,” protests Iolo and his father reminds him that Eileen is his partner.

“Well, there we are – the whole village will know our business now!”

Iolo storms out

Iolo storms out of the house.

"Tamed Bach . . ."

Eileen continues explaining her business plan;  “I’d have to rebrand, of course – ‘Tamed Bach’ –

". . . clever, isn't it?"

“clever, isn’t it?   Even though I do say so myself.”

"Yeah, very clever"

It is obvious that Kelly and Rhys do not share her excitement.

"I'll be going round the place"

She continues, “And I won’t be just parking here – no, I’ll be going around the place, so that people can taste our produce in food festivals and so on.”

"Will you be selling drugs as well?"

“Oh, just like DJ and Jason,” concludes Rhys, “Will you be selling drugs as well, Eileen?”

If looks could kill . . .

After being on the receiving end of a malicious glare from Eileen, he decides to go and sort out his orders.

"There's one little snag here . . ."

Then Kelly points out, “There’s one little snag here, isn’t there?

". . . I haven't agreed to sell yet"

“I haven’t agreed to sell yet, all right?”

"I\d make a fair offer"

Eileen emphasises that she would make a fair offer.   “Oh, aye – and what is a fair offer?”

“I’d have to look at the books but four or five thousand, perhaps – and I could offer you a few shifts in Tamed –while I take Tamed Bach around the place.

"You loved working in thee café years ago"

“You loved working in the café years ago, didn’t you?   So do we have a deal?”

"I'll talk to Diane"

After a few seconds’ consideration, Kelly says that she will talk to Diane;  Eileen offers to talk to her,

"Back off, Eileen!"

but Kelly is insistent that she will do it, “So back off, Eileen!”

"The deal won't be on the table very long"

Eileen hopes that a decision will be made today, emphasising that the deal will not be on the table for very long.

Hywel is out, by a lake

Alongside a lake, where the surrounding trees have not yet gained their leaves, Hywel is standing

"I'd almost forgotten what you looked like"

and Cassie approaches;  “I’d almost forgotten what you looked like,” he remarks, “We’ve hardly seen each other for a fortnight.”

"Mark's out on bail now"

She explains that things have been rather busy;  “Kath is worried about Mark – he’s out on bail now, but has been charged with GBH for attacking Jinx.”

"Is it possible he attacked Ffion as well?"

Hywel immediately wonders whether it is possible he attacked Ffion as well.

Cassie confirms that he did not, but they are waiting for the police to accept that;

"Do you see why I couldn't see you?"

“Do you see why I couldn’t see you?”

"There's always something with Kath"

He mutters that there is always something with Kath.

“But anyway, you know how to spoil me, don’t you?   A free breakfast and some fresh air.”

"Wait for this afternoon"

He tells her to wait until this afternoon;  he has organised a picnic for them in a very special place.   “Slow down – I can’t take the whole day off,” she informs him,

"I've got a pub to run"

“I’ve got a pub to run – right, time for breakfast – I’m starving.”

"I'm still getting the abuse"

Kelly and Rhys are removing the last few of the posters as she comments, “The thing is, this drugs thing is nothing to do with me, but I’m still getting the abuse – perhaps I should tell Diane to take Eileen’s offer.”

"You'd be playing straight into Eileen's hands"

Rhys points out to her that if she does that, she is playing right into Eileen’s hands;  Kelly snaps that he has changed his tune.   “You didn’t want me to take over this business, either.”

"I don't mind having company"

“At the beginning, perhaps but I don’t mind having company.   If that’s really what you want to do, cut your losses and rinse Eileen for as much as possible.”

"What's going on, Kelly?"

He can see that there is something else on Kelly’s mind, and demands what is going on.

"It gives me an excuse not to be in the house"

“Being here gives me an excuse not to be in the house – and that can only be a good thing,” she answers, “Ignore me, Rhys,”

"Talk to me, Kel"

but he urges her to talk to him.

"Pretending everything's OK – because it's not"

“I don’t want to be at home, pretending to Auntie Neet that everything is OK – because it’s not.”

Kelly walks away

Then she turns and walks away.

Iolo has something to say

Eileen is clearing up dishes in the deli when Iolo comes in and wants her to sit down, as he has something to say.   She hopes that this is important.

"Dad needs to make his own decisions"

“It is, as it happens – I’m aware that Dad has been discussing Alex with you,” and she confirms that he is worried.   “But he needs to make his own decisions – so, for all our sakes, let him do that.”

"Are you trying to say I'm interfering?"

“Are you trying to say I’m interfering?   It certainly sounds like it to me.”   Iolo maintains that she has misunderstood.

"If there's nothing else . . ."

“No, I don’t think so – so, if there’s nothing else,

". . . you know where the door is!"

“you know where the door is.”

"Thinking `I could have a sensible chat with you!"

“You know, I don’t know what came over me, thinking I could have a sensible chat with you!” he exclaims,

"All right, Iol?"

then meets Rhys in the doorway, but walks out without another word.

"I have to check on Kath"

As Hywel and Cassie walk by the side of the lake, he says, “Do you have to go back now?” and she says that she needs to check on Kath.

"We haven't had a chance to talk"

He protests that they have not had a chance to talk properly yet, but Cassie does not like leaving her for too long, and she is a bit lost at the moment.

"Now this has happened to Mark"

“She’s starting to come to terms with this divorce – and now this has  happened to Mark.”   Hywel enquires whether Kath knows about them yet, but the opportunity has not presented itself.

"Cassie, you've had a fortnight!"

“Cassie, you’ve had a fortnight!” he complains, but she maintains there has never been a right time.   Hywel wonders whether she is serious about this relationship;  “I’m sorry, because as far as I can see, you’re showing more loyalty to Kath than to me.”

"I didn't realise it was a competition"

Cassie did not realise that it was a competition and thought that he understood why she moved back into the Deri;  “But it doesn’t sound like it to me.”

"There is a pattern here"

He says that there is a pattern here;  “You lose interest once a relationship starts properly.”   She wants him to stop putting pressure on her, stressing that Kath is lonely.

“The only thing she does is arrange for us to sit in front of the box every night – she needs a friend – and after everything that she’s been through, it’s the least I can do.

"I don't see any future for us"

“If you can’t understand that, I don’t see any future for us.”

"There are more important things than work"

Then his phone sounds and he can see that it is a call from Eleri;  he refuses to answer, telling Cassie that there are more important things than work.

"How many pots of glue did you use?"

Rhys asks Eileen, “How many pots of glue did you use?   To stick all those posters on Fflamingo?”   She maintains that she does not know what he is talking about,

"Where have all the anti-drugs posters gone?"

so he demands, “Where have all the anti-drugs posters from the counter gone?”

"Don't you dare suggest such a thing again!"

She charges him £6 for the drinks and warns, “Don’t you dare suggest such a thing again!”

"Once I've looked at Ceffyl Du's CCTV . . ."

He smiles as he tells her that once he has looked at Ceffyl Du’s CCTV, he will not have to suggest anything, then walks out without paying.

"Just Rhys talking nonsense"

Siôn has just come in and asks what that was all about;  Eileen dismisses it as Rhys talking nonsense.

"Iolo thinks I'm sticking my nose in"

“Anyway, I've got more important things on my mind – Iolo came in earlier.   I didn’t give him the chance to say much, but he obviously thinks that I’m sticking my nose into the White’s business.”

Siôn is outraged that he would suggest such a thing, but Eileen does not want Iolo to know that she has told him.

"This has gone too far!"

He angrily declares that this has gone too far and walks out of the shop.

Kelly is now washing down the van

Now Kelly is using soap and water to clean the van

Rhys brings over the two coffees

as Rhys brings across the two takeaway coffees;

"Especially when they're free"

“Don’t tell her, but I quite like Eileen’s lattés, especially when they’re for free.”   Kelly is shocked that there is no poison in them.

"That would be bad for business"

He comments that would be bad for business.

"Sometimes things are too much, like"

Kelly apologises for the emotionals earlier;  “Sometimes things are too much, like.”   Rhys does not know how he would even begin to cope in that situation

"I'm not coping"

and she laughs that she is not coping, not really.

He says that she looks pretty strong to him;  “Master of disguise, you know that – always have been – but things are different this time.   Trying to stay calm in front of Auntie Neet – exploding inside!

"I want to tell awe everything is going to be OK"

“And all I want to do is give her a cwtch and tell her everything is going to be OK, but it’s not!   And that’s why I’m here – it’s an excuse to stay busy.”

He agrees that he would avoid being at home as well;

"In the house, I'm on pins, like"

she continues, “And you know, when I’m home, in the house, I’m on pins, like, just looking for the signals that things are getting worse.”

"I sometimes think it's all in  my head"

Rhys asks if things are getting worse and she replies, “I don’t know – sometimes I think it’s all in my head – I don’t know what to do.”

The only advice that Rhys can offer is that if it helps to keep busy, then she should keep busy.

"With the trade here – that's a bit difficult"

“With the trade here – that’s a bit difficult,” she groans.

"Take the van out and see how things go"

He tells her to steal Eileen’s idea;  “Take the van out sometimes to see how things go.   When the work on the dam starts, take the van up there and you’ll make a fortune.”

"And then I'll have to go home"

“And then I’ll have to go home,” she sighs, but he points out that she will have worked her way through everything.

"I know from experience"

“And if you ever feel that you need help – a listening ear – then I’m here,” Rhys adds, “Because I know from experience what difficult times are like – I’m serious.

"You're welcome to help, if you want to keep busy"

“Right, I’d better go and clean those pipes – you’re welcome to help, if you want to keep busy.”

Kelly manages a smile

This makes Kelly smile.

"You had no right, Iolo!"

Siôn angrily tells Iolo in APD, “You had no right!”

"I guess you've been talking to Eileen"

Iolo guesses that he has been talking to Eileen.   “She was upset,” Siôn continues,

"You worry more about her than your family"

but his son accuses him of worrying more about her than his family – he stresses that Alex is dying.

"And you love it, don't you?"

Siôn shouts at him, “And you just love it, don’t you?   Just like you did with Tyler!

"Enjoying the attention, enjoying the grief!"

“Enjoying the attention, enjoying the grief!”

"Get out – now!"

Iolo yells at him to get out.

Eileen is on the look-out

Eileen is keeping an eye on things from the deli;  when she sees Kelly passing,

"I don't need to speak to Diane"

she enquires whether she has had a chance to speak to Diane yet.   “No – because I don’t need to,” is the answer

"I knew it was too good an offer to refuse"

Eileen knew that it was too good an offer to refuse, but is disappointed

"I'm not selling Flamingo!"

when informed by Kelly, “I’m not selling Fflamingo, OK?   Not today – not tomorrow – not ever?”

She is reminded that an offer like this does not come round often

"I'm not interested"

and is told, “Yeah, well, do you know what, Eileen?   I’m not interested.”

"I could invest in other companies"

Eileen says that she could always invest in other companies.

Iolo passes them . . .

Iolo walks past with his head down;

. . .he and Eileen exchange hostile looks

he and Eileen grimace at each other, while Kelly asks if he is all right.   “He simply says, “I’ll see you again,” and continues on his way.

"I can't carry on like this"

Down by the Deri, Hywel tells Cassie that he does not want to put pressure on her, “But I can’t carry on like this.”

"We have to put the brakes on things"

“Well, you know what the answer is then, don’t you?   We’ll have to put the brakes on things.”   He protests that is not what he meant, but she insists that it will not be for ever, but just for now.   “While Kath is going through this difficult time.   I can’t give you both 100% – it’s not fair on either of you.   And before you say anything, I’m not choosing Kath over you –

"She needs me more than you do"

she needs me more than you do at the moment.”

"Can we rekindle things?"

He is forced to accept her decision and remarks that Kath is very lucky to have her as a friend.   “When she does get stronger, can we rekindle things?”

Eileen is nosing again

Eileen is hanging around outside MFC, watching them;

"Of course we can"

Cassie agrees that of course they can rekindle things

They kiss

and they kiss.

"I thought you'd had enough of him twenty years ago!"

Eileen pipes up, “Well, goodness me – I thought you’d had enough of him twenty years ago!”

Iolo gets home . . .

Iolo arrives home and

. . . and finds his father at the foot of the stairs

that his father is lying on the floor at the foot of the stairs.

"Dad!"

“Dad!” he says and tries to rouse him,

Siôn simply groans

but Siôn simply groans.

"Tea coming up, Auntie Neet!"

At number 7, Kelly shouts, “Cup of tea coming up, Auntie Neet,” then notices some items of post on the worktop.

One letter interests her . . .

She picks up one in particular and opens it,

. . . a prison visiting form . . .

finding a prison visiting form.

. . . which she could do very nicely without at the moment

Jason Francis is inviting Kelly Evans to visit him at HMP St Clears on Friday.
