"Right, Fflamingo!"

As she opens the door of the food van, Kelly says, “Right, Fflamingo – time to spread your wings!    Exciting, isn’t it?”

Dai passes, with flowers

Diane, who is with her, can see Dai with a bunch of flowers

"Look at him, with his mixed bouquet!"

and sneers, “Look at him with his mixed bouquet!   If he thinks that makes up for not supporting me, he can think again.”

"Men are not on the menu today"

Kelly instructs, “Men are not on the menu today, right, so specials menu up and get chopping!”   She reminds Kelly that she is a silent partner, but is told, “Not today – I need your support!”

"What's this?"

Eileen approaches, demanding what they are doing;

"At a guess, it's a food van"

Kelly looks up at the van and replies, “At a guess, it’s a food van – selling wraps and stuff.”

"You can't sell wraps"

Eileen angrily tells her, “Wraps?   You can’t sell wraps!   Tamed sells wraps.”

Kelly points out firstly that was too many ‘wraps’ in one sentence

"You can't stop me!"

and secondly, “You can’t stop me!”

“We all know what sort of specials you sell, don’t we?” Eileen continues, “To be honest, I don’t know why I’m worried –

"Lunch from a drugs den!"

“no sensible person will want to buy lunch from a drugs den!”

"Ignore her"

Diane advises Kelly to ignore Eileen;  “That’s what I’ve been doing for years.”

"Gobby cow!"

Kelly concisely describes her as a, “Gobby cow!’

A message appears

On her way round the corner Eileen’s phone sounds and she receives a message alert.

"Someone is up early"

As she looks at it, Siôn approaches and remarks that someone is up early,

"Not now, Siôn"

but she simply tells him, “Not now, Siôn  I’ve got something to do,”

Off she goes

and hurries away.

Tom is about to go out

At Llwyncelyn, Tom is putting on his coat when Gaynor returns home, having brought them both a takeaway coffee.

"I'm going to the hospital"

She asks if he is on his way out and he replies that he is going to the hospital, with a basket of fruit on behalf of the company,

"As it happened on our land . . ."

“As it happened on our land.”

She regards that as a nice gesture, although it was not his fault;

". . . one feels responsible, somehow" — and so you might

“No, but one feels responsible, somehow,” he says.   Gaynor decides that she will go with him, but he tries to dissuade her, stressing that he will not be there long.

“I’d like to see her – she’s been through a lot,” Gaynor insists,

"It's part of my job"

so he points out that he is going as part of his job.   “Yes, I know that, but there’s no reason why I can’t some with you,” she goes on,

"I think it's lovely that you're going"

“I think it’s lovely that you’re going.”   He realises that she is not going to take the hint.

"Look who's here to see you"

Jinx enters Ffion’s hospital room, followed by Arwen;  “Ffion, look who’s here to see you,” he says

Ffion reaches out her hand

and Ffion reaches out weakly for her daughter.

"I'm sorry for being horrible"

“I’m sorry for being horrible before you went out running,” says Arwen and Jinx apologises for not being there last night, but was told by the doctor that she needed to rest.

Ffion is not aware of what is going on and mutters, “What are you doing back here, Jinx?

"Is Taid all right?"

“Is Taid [grandfather] all right?”

"Who's got a smelly nappy?"

Sioned addresses the twins, “Right, hands up who’s got a smelly nappy?   It’s one of you – don’t look at me with those innocent eyes.”

"Crikey Moses!"

At that moment Dai walks in, exclaiming, “Crikey Moses!   It stinks in the yard, but it’s even worse in here!”   Sioned asks Mathew what Dai is doing there,

"Look what grandad brought you"

but Dai continues, “Look what grandad has brought you,” as he waves a packet of sweets.   Mathew points out that they are rather young for sweets.

"They don't have a grandad, not after what DJ did!"

Sioned is more forthright;  “They don’t have a grandad, not after what DJ did!”   Dai tries to explain that DJ had his reasons and that he is the children’s father.

"He can take his daughter in holiday"

He maintains that DJ can take his daughter on holiday – he brought her back safely – that must count for something.

"Not one step closer!"

Sioned is outraged and warns him not to come one step closer;

"What do you think I'm going to do?"

Dai protests, “What do you think I’m going to do?   Put them under my arms and run away?”

She insists that she is serious;  “I don’t want you anywhere near them – go away, you and your flowers!”

"You haven't heard the last of this, good girl!"

As he goes, he snarls, “You haven’t heard the last of this, good girl!”   As Mathew escorts him out of the door, Eileen bursts in, carrying a bottle.

"We've sold Penrhewl!"

“We’ve done it – we’ve sold Penrhewl!” she shouts, “The official offer arrived today – so long, Penrhewl –

"Hello, 1.5 million pounds!"

hello, 1.5 million pounds!”

They are stunned

Sioned and Mathew simply look at each other.

Business has not been brisk

The morning has evidently not been a roaring success for Kelly;  “We can flog more than two breakfast wraps, Diane,” she moans, as they sit gloomily in the Deri.

"Lunchtime will be busier"

Diane maintains that lunchtime will be busier, but Kelly is inclined to think that Eileen was right;  “I mean, come on, Fflamingo’s reputation is in the gutter –

"In fact, the gutter would be an upgrade"

“in fact, the gutter would be an upgrade.”

"Once people find out you're in charge . . ."

“Once people find out that you’re in charge, things will improve,” Diane points out, “Not everyone is as judgmental as her – most people will want you to succeed.”

"Can I ask who criticised you?"

Siôn comes in and listens to some of this conversation;  “Exactly, Diane,” he says, “We need to welcome every local venture– anyone who says otherwise should be ashamed of themselves.   Can I ask who criticised you?   Because some people need to learn to keep their mouth shut!”

"Who was it, Diane?"

Kelly looks across at Diane and says, “Who was it, Diane?

"Oh yeah – Eileen!"

“Oh yeah –   Eileen!”

"Oh – I see"

At this, Siôn’s face falls and Kelly suggests, “Have a word, eh, Siôn?”

"She won't listen to me"

He replies that Eileen will not listen to him, but he will try his best.

Dai still has his flowers . . .

Dai comes into the Deri, still with his flowers, to order a pint of bitter

. . . and Diane glowers at him

and Diane glowers in his direction;

"Have you got a  heart of stone, or what?"

“Have you got a heart of stone or what, Diane?” asks Kelly.

"Arwen's gone to the shop"

In the hospital, Ffion is stirring, while Jinx is still by her bedside;  “Ffion, it’s OK,” he reassures her and she asks where Arwen is.   “She’s just gone to the shop,” he says

"With Colin?"

and she assumes that will be with Colin, so he has to explain that he means the hospital shop.

"Everyone is so worried about you"

At that moment the door opens;  Gaynor and Tom come in, so Ffion immediately demands what she is doing there.   “Everyone is so worried about you,” says Gaynor,

"What's she doing here?"

but again Ffion wants to know what she is doing there.   Jinx points out that Ffion is on strong medication.

Tom produces the basket of fruit

Tom produces the basket of fruit from the company with Gaynor mentioning that he works for Quantum Hydro Works.

“You know Tom, don’t you?   Gaynor’s partner from North Wales,” Jinx tells Ffion.

"Tom – I know"

She says, with considerable difficulty, “Tom – I know,”

This 'puts the wind up' Tom

which causes him rather a fright;  he mutters that she is obviously tired and that they should go.

Ffion continues, “Yes, I know who Tom is – he’s a character!”

"We've only been here a few minutes"

Now Tom is even more keen to go, although Gaynor reminds him that they have only been there a few minutes.

"Gaynor is a real pain!"

Ffion struggles on, “Not everyone could do what you do, Tom – go out with Gaynor – she’s a real pain.”

"Those drugs must be strong"

Gaynor can now understand how strong those drugs are.

"Sorry for her confused state"

Jinx suggests that they should let her rest now and accompanies them out of the room, apologising for Ffion’s confused state;  “She thought that Taid was still alive earlier.”

"Does she remember anything?"

Tom is anxious to know whether she remembers what happened and Jinx does not want to mention it until she is stronger.   “The thing is, the police want to talk to her.”   This does nothing to calm Tom.

Eileen is celebrating

At the farm, Eileen is pouring glasses of fizz, but Sioned considers it rather too early.   “Nonsense – we’re celebrating that years of hard work have finally paid off!” says her mother.

"Not for me, thanks"

Mathew refuses any more as Sioned reminds her mother, “Things could take a while,

"We must make sure the paperwork's done correctly"

“because we have to make sure we’ve done all the paperwork correctly.”

“Malcolm can go through everything with a fine-tooth comb – the company building the dam want to press on, so it’s all systems go.   Right, I’m off – I’ll be back tomorrow to help you pack,” says Eileen.

"I'm too busy tomorrow!"

Sioned protests that she is too busy tomorrow, but Eileen is already out of the door.

"Are you all right, Sioned?"

Mathew asks if Sioned is all right;  she replies, unconvincingly, “Yes – this is what we all want, isn’t it?   Right, I’m going to heat some purée for the kids – I’ve got some sweet potato somewhere.”

Things are improving

There appears to be a truce between Dai and Diane, as they have both returned to Bryntirion;  she will put the kettle on.

"I do appreciate this, you know"

“I do appreciate this, you know,” Dai tells her, as he looks at a photo of DJ with the twins on the table.

"I don't know what to do with his stuff"

“I didn’t know what to do with his stuff,” she says Diane, while Dai insists that Sioned had no right to stop him seeing the little ones.

"You're trying to protect your children"

“She’s being a parent - just like you’re trying to be with DJ – you’re both trying to protect your children.”

"She doesn't need to protect them from me"

“She doesn’t need to protect them from me,” he rages.

"You can't still believe DJ's not guilty"

Diane maintains that he cannot possibly still believe that DJ is not guilty,

"I have no choice, Diane – he's my son!"

but he sternly answers, “I have no choice, Diane  – he’s my son!   I wasn’t there for him early on, so the least I can do is support him now.”

"How many chances have I given Jason?"

She wonders who is being too soft now;  “How many chances have I given Jason?   I’ve had my fingers burned so many times, I’m surprised I’ve still got hands!   I’ve had to accept who Jason is.   Open your eyes before you lose everyone else”

"There's one big hole in my life – and that's you!"

“There’s one big hole in my life, Diane – and that’s you.   With you at my side, I could take anything the world throws at me – come home, please!”

Diane does not reply

Diane looks at him, but does not say anything.

Back at Llwyncelyn . . .

Gaynor and Tom return to Llwyncelyn and she tells him to put the kettle on.

. . . Tom is feeling queasy

Seeing the results of what he has done to Ffion is proving too much for Tom and he is feeling very unwell;  he rushes over to the sink and vomits into it.

"What's going on, Tom?"

Gaynor is very concerned and demands what is going on.

Amongst the washing . . .

At Penrhewl, Sioned is sorting the washing

. . . Sioned finds this

and comes across a t-shirt with a picture of a red tractor, which makes her quite tearful.

Mathew comes in

Mathew comes in with the baby monitor as she complains, “Blinkin’ Dai, turning up here and upsetting me!”

"It's not too late, you know – you haven't signed anything"

“Dai?” he asks, “Sioned, I saw the look in your eyes – Eileen was too excited to notice, but I wasn’t.   It’s not too late, you know — you haven’t signed anything yet.”

"I really thought I wanted to sell"

Sioned sighs, “You could see how happy Mam was – I really thought I wanted to sell this place, but since losing Lili – and getting her back – I don’t want to leave.

"This is our home now"

This is where she and Jac were born and this is our home now.”

"You have to do something"

Mathew takes her hand, urging her, “Look, if you’re not sure, you have to do something –

"You're talking about the rest of your life"

“you’re talking about the rest of your life – all right?”

"You don't want to live here on your own"

Dai continues, as he drinks his tea, “You don’t want to live here on your own, do you?

"No-one knows you like I do"

“Goodness, no-one knows you like I do, Diane – no-one comes close.”

"And no-one knows you like I do"

She in return agrees that no-one knows him like she does.

"There we are, then – go and pack!"

“Well, there we are, then – go and pack!” he tells Diane, but she has another idea.

"I'm sorry – bit this is where I belong"

“No, Dai – I’m sorry, but this is where I belong.   It’s important that Ifan comes back to somewhere familiar, now that his father is in jail;  this is his home, not the bungalow.”

"I might as well go, then"

Dai comes to the conclusion that in that case he might as well go;

"I didn't say you're not welcome here"

“Mind you,” Diane adds, “I didn’t say you’re not welcome here – you come home to Bryntirion.”

"I can't walk up and down those stairs!"

He regards that as impossible;  “I can’t walk up and down these stairs with these knees and the arthritis – that’s why we moved to the bungalow in the first place.

“Well, if you don’t want to some back,” she scoffs.

"I'd walk up and down Pen-y-Fan in my socks!"

“I didn’t say that, did I?   I’d walk up and down Pen y Fan in my socks a hundred times, just to have you back, Diane!”

Their tender moment  . . .

Just as they are holding hands,

. . . is shattered by Kelly's arrival

there is a cry from the door, “Yoo-hoo, OK, let’s talk veggie . . .”   When Kelly sees them, she adds the word, “Options – sorry, the door was open – well, look at you two –

"And not before time!"

“and not before time!

"You're like halloumi and chilli jam!"

“You’re like halloumi and chilli jam – meant to be together!”

"They'll need a lot of water"

Diane tells Dai that he can give her the flowers now;  he comments that they are from the garage, so they will need a lot of water – and kisses her,

"Aah!"

as Kelly looks very pleased.

Tom blames the sandwich from the garage

Tom apologises to Gaynor for his behaviour earlier;  “The sandwich from the garage yesterday, probably.”

"What is this all about?"

She does not believe a word of that and asks what it is all about;  “You were on pins at the hospital – you couldn’t wait to leave and we had only just arrived.”

"Just leave it, Gaynor"

He wants her to leave it, but she goes on,

"You're the one who insisted we had to be honest"

“You’re the one who insisted that we had to be honest, so, whatever it is, you can tell me.”

"It brought it all back . . ."

He has to do some quick thinking and comes up with, “Seeing the state Ffion was in brought it all back.”   Gaynor looks cynically at him,

". . . that's how I would have ended up"

so he continues, “It was me – I was lying in the bed – just for a second.   That’s how I would have ended up if Cheryl had her way.   Gaynor, I could feel every blow, every bruise, every slap.”

Yet again, Gaynor falls for his lies

He has once again managed to persuade gullible Gaynor;

'Why didn't you say anything?"

she begs him, “Why didn’t you say anything?

"You don't have anything to worry about"

“Look, you don’t have anything to worry about now, all right?   You’re safe.”

"Can we go now?"

Meanwhile, Arwen is at her mother’s bedside and asks Jinx if they can go now.

"Have you had enough of me already?"

Ffion groans, “Have you had enough of me already?” but Arwen explains that Ethan, her boyfriend, is coming over, for dinner.

"You go"

Ffion tells her to go,

Arwen kisses her

so Arwen kisses her and leaves.

"We'll see you tomorrow"

“We’ll see you tomorrow – OK?” says Jinx,

"Jinx, wait!"

but Ffion wants him to wait and to tell her what happened to her,

"The blackouts have come back"

as she is afraid that the blackouts have come back.

"Is that what you're afraid to say?"

“Is that what you’re afraid to say?” she demands, “It must be, if you won’t tell me.”

"You tripped and hit your head . . ."

Jinx replies that she has not had blackouts, but she tripped and hit her head, as simple as that.

". . . so stop worrying"

He instructs her to stop worrying and to focus on getting better.

"I had a chat with Kelly this morning . . ."

In the Deri, Eileen and Siôn are drinking and he reveals that he had a chat will Kelly this morning;

". . . it seems you had some cross words"

“It seems that you had a few cross words.”

"She can open a flock of Fflamingos!"

Eileen assumes that Kelly has been complaining to him;  “Well, she doesn’t have to worry now – she’s welcome to open a flock of Fflamingos if she wants to.”

"She didn't get that impression this morning"

Siôn remarks that Kelly did not get that impression this morning;

"I hadn't sold Penrhewl this morning"

“I hadn’t sold Penrhewl this morning!” she triumphantly replies, “I wanted it to be official before I told you.”   He points out that it is a big decision and she agrees;  “And 1.5 million is a lot of money!” she adds.

"That farmer must have a fortune!"

He can see that this farmer must have a fortune, but Eileen enlightens him, “It’s not being bought by a farmer –

"Quantum Hydro Works!"

“but Quantum Hydro Works – I don’t expect you to understand, but I’m not looking for your approval either.   It’s my farm and I have every right to do what I want with it.

"Too good an opportunity to miss!"

This is a once-in-a-lifetime offer and it’s too good an opportunity to miss.”

He cannot say that he agrees with her decision, but does respect it;  she says that she cannot ask for more than that.

"Living the high life on dirty money"

He does point out, “It will be difficult to watch you, living the high life on dirty money.”

“Do you know what I’m really buying, Siôn?   Freedom.”

"We've changed our minds"

At the farmhouse, Sioned is speaking on the phone;  “Yes, I know it’s late in the day, but we’ve changed our minds – well, that’s not my problem.

"Yes, I'm perfectly sure!"

“Yes, I’m perfectly sure – and don’t call me again!”

Mathew wonders what that call was about;

"You were right – I had to do something"

she informs him, “You were right – I had to do something.

"The deal's off . . ."

“I’ve just spoken to Malcolm – the deal’s off –

". . . I'm not selling Penrhewl!"

“I’m not selling Penrhewl.
