Lleucu is at work in the shop

Lleucu is at work in the shop when Jinx comes in, closely followed by Howard;  she repeats what she has obviously been told by Colin, “Grapes at the top and then the apples –

"Or was it the other way round?"

“or was it the other way round?”

"Good news about Ffion"

Howard tells Jinx that it is good news about Ffion;  “We might find out who did it if she remembers.”

"She hasn't remembered anything yet"

Jinx agrees, but adds that she has not remembered anything yet, although she is trying her best.

"Colonel Mustard in the library with a  spade"

Howard jokingly suggests, “I think it was Colonel Mustard in the library with a spade,”

That did not go down very well

but that is not considered to be in very good taste.   “At least, she’s awake!” he says as he leaves.

Jinx has been thinking that it would be nice if some of the family went to see Ffion,

"I can't – I'm working"

but Lleucu says that she is working.   “Not every day – you must get some time off,” Jinx protests;

"You're welcome to go and see Ffion"

Colin stresses that she is welcome to go and see Ffion.

"I've got a lot on at the moment"

Lleucu seems to be grasping for any excuse not to go;  this time she maintains that she has a lot on,

"Right, I'd better go"

so Jinx thinks that he had better go.   Then she suggests to Colin that they should give the shop a makeover;  “It doesn’t have to be expensive – TikTok is full of people giving tips on giving a place a ‘glow-up’ on a small budget.”

Hywel comes in . . .

Hywel has just come in for a carton of milk,

. . . for some milk . . .

but when he places it on the counter, Lleucu continues advising Colin that the shop is ten years out of date;

. . . but Lleucu is too busy talking

“Come on – look at that magazine stand – no-one buys magazines any more!”

"I've had enough of this . . . "

Hywel has had enough of this;

". . . I'd be quicker if I milked the cow myself!"

“Forget it – I’d be quicker if I milked the cow myself!” and he marches out of the shop.

"Ooh – touchy!"

“Ooh – touchy!” exclaims Colin, adding that if Lleucu wants time off to visit Ffion, she only has to ask;  “She’d be happy to see you.”

"I don't, OK?"

Lleucu is becoming rather angry;  “If I wanted to see Ffion, I’d say, but I don’t, OK?”

"What have I done to upset the council bigwigs?"

Hywel has gone to see Eileen, who asks, “Oh, yeah – what have I done to upset the council bigwigs now?”

"I'm not wearing my councillor's hat today"

He assures her that he is not wearing his councillor’s hat today and at that moment,

"Sorry I'm late"

Sioned also arrives, apologising that she is late.

"Quantum Hydro Works are not happy"

Hywel has organised this meeting and is aware that it is a sensitive subject, but says that he is there as a friend.   “Well, Quantum Hydro Works are not happy about the sale of Penrhewl and I’m here to offer advice.”

"You're a lap-dog for Quantum Hydro Works now?"

Sioned remarks, “You’re a lap-dog for Quantum Hydro Works now, are you?”   He argues that he has developed a strong working relationship with them through the council.

"I can see your tail wagging from here"

“I can see your tail wagging from here!” Sioned sneers.

Eileen wants to know what this is about the sale of Penrhewl;

"They're disappointed you rejected their offer"

“Well, Quantum Hydro Works are disappointed that you rejected their offer at the last minute,” he answers.

"It hasn't been rejected!"

Eileen insists that is has not been rejected, so there must have been some misunderstanding.

"Oh yes, it has"

“There hasn’t been,” Sioned announces, “I couldn’t do it”

"We won't get another offer like this!"

Her mother angrily insists that they had agreed – and will not get another offer like this.

"But Penrhewl is my home"

Sioned knows that very well, “But Penrhewl is my home!”

“You could get another very nice home for 1.5 million!” Eileen snarls,

"I think we could reach an agreement"

but Hywel believes that they could reach an agreement that will keep everyone happy.

Lleucu is 'tarting up' the shop

Lleucu is busy, decorating the shop with tinsel and tells Colin that she is sorry for shouting at him earlier;

"You're not going to sack me, are you?"

“You’re not going to sack me, are you?”

"That's not going to happen"

He assures her that is not going to happen and praises her for what she has achieved.   “It will look good when I’ve finished – and I didn’t spend a penny – I stole them!”   He looks concerned, until she reveals that she was joking and actually found them in a box out the back.

"We're going to see Kylie's social worker"

Now Colin has to go, as he is giving a lift to Kylie;  he does not want to disclose where they are actually going, so improvises that it is to see her social worker.

"You can tell me"

Then he tells Lleucu, “Listen, if there’s something worrying you, you can tell me – if you know something about the attack on Ffion.

"Why are you avoiding going to see her?"

“Why are you avoiding going to see her then?”

"Ffion is not who I want to see"

“Because Ffion is not the one I want to see – it’s Dad!” she exclaims, “Everyone is hassling me to go and see Ffion –

"Dad doesn't want to see me!"

“and it only reminds me that the one person I want to see more than anyone doesn’t want to see me!   He’s shutting me out!   I’ve had a few texts from him – but that’s not enough.

"I don't know what I've done to upset him"

“I’ve asked and asked to go and see him, but be just replies with, ‘not this week’ – I don’t know what I’ve done to upset him, Colin!”

Mathew comes into the deli

Jinx is sitting glumly in the deli when Mathew taps on the window and comes in;

He is glad that Ffion is awake

“It’s great news that Ffion is awake,” he says, “How is she?”

"She might be allowed home next week"

“Not bad,” Jinx replies, “She might be allowed to come home next week – I shall have to be with her round the clock, as she is so confused and weak – not to mention the fact that whoever tried to kill her is still out there somewhere!”

"Have you considered creating a rota?"

Mathew wonders how this is going to affect Arwen and The Pizza Place;  “What can I do to help?   Have you considered creating a rota?   A timetable to make sure she’s not on her own – to make her lunch and cups of tea – to make sure she’s safe.   But only people you can trust!”

"Ffion still doesn't know that someone attacked her . . ."

This strikes Jinx as a great idea, but he does have another problem;  “Ffion still doesn’t know that someone attacked her –

". . . I don't want to upset her"

“I don’t want to upset her at the moment – she’s too weak.”

"It would be better coming from you"

Mathew recommends that she needs to know what happened;  “Make sure you tell her before she finds out from someone else.   It would be better coming from you.”

Colin has experience with Britt . . .

In the shop, Colin is trying to explain, “Look, I don’t know a lot about this world, but I do know what it’s like to live with someone who’s struggling.

. . . who suffers from Bipolar Disorder

“Britt suffers from Bipolar Disorder.”

"Sorry – I didn't know"

Lleucu was not aware of that, but he continues,

"I spent years blaming myself"

“I spent years blaming myself, thinking that I’d upset her, that I had angered her or said the wrong thing – and perhaps I did a few times – but that wasn’t the reason Britt got angry.

"You're not to blame – and Cai knows that"

“You’re not to blame, OK?   And Cai knows that.”

"Why doesn't he want to see me, then?"

She wonders why her father does not want to see her, then;  Colin answers, “Well, because he’s ill – but he’s your Dad.   That’s all any father wants to do – to protect his little girl.   Give him time – and he’ll be ready to let you in – I promise!”

Lleucu wishes that he would hurry

"Until then, I'm here – if I'll do"

and is told, “Well, until then, I’m here, if I’ll do.   Why don’t you come to the Deri with me and Kylie for dinner?   Britt will be off gallivanting with friends.   A slap-up meal and I’ll foot the bill!”

"I'm not in the mood"

Lleucu maintains that she is not in the mood,

"Well, as your line manager, I insist"

so he informs her, “Well, as your line manager, I insist!”   Call it a ‘team briefing’, if you like.”
Then he looks at his watch and has to go.

Kylie waits for Colin

Kylie is waiting for him, along the back street, by Gwynfor’s workshop,

"Shhhh!"

when Colin creeps out of the alley and calls for her;  he warns her to be quiet

"Why are you whispering?"

and she wonders why he is whispering.

"Are you sure Britt hasn't seen you?"

“Look, I’ve told Lleucu that we’re going to see your social worker – are you perfectly sure that Britt hasn’t seen you?   If she finds out about the acting lessons, she’ll go ballistic.”

Mathew happens to be passing

Then he sees Mathew approaching

"Right, off we go to the dentist's"

and continues, “Right, off we go to the dentist’s.”

"Stop being weird, Colin"

Kylie urges him to stop being weird and cannot understand what all that was about a social worker.   He admits that he panicked and asks if she has the script.

"Follow me and keep your head down"

“Follow me and keep your head down,” he cautions and they head along the street

Eileen is hassling Sioned again . . .

Eileen follows Sioned into the farm kitchen;

. . . and Sioned has had enough

“Mam, please, just stop hassling me!” exclaims Sioned,

"We have to decide as soon as possible!"

as her mother reminds her that Hywel said they have to decide as soon as possible.

"Tough – I want time to think"

“Tough – I want time to think!” says Sioned.

"This is the perfect solution"

Eileen is adamant that this is the perfect solution;  they sell half the farm for half the price.

"And we only get half the income"

Sioned stresses that half the farm means half the income.

“If they were after the best land, I’d agree,” Eileen goes on, “Hywel has spoken to them and they’re happy to buy the bottom fields – we all know that patch of land is more hassle than it’s worth”

"All we'll see from here is the blinkin' welcome centre"

Sioned protests, “But all we’ll see from here is the blinkin’ welcome centre and the carpark will come right up to the fence!”

"What's all this, then?"

Howard walks in on this argument and wants to know what is going on,

"You're up in the village!"

but Sioned shouts at her mother, “It’s all right for you, because you don’t live here any more – you’re up in the village – you’re nothing to do with the farm!”

"I've got a business brain"

Eileen insists that she has a business brain, something which her daughter obviously does not have.

"Right, what do you think, Howard?"

Sioned calls on Howard for his opinion;  “I’ve refused to sell Penrhewl – now the company wants half the farm.”

"Why are you asking him?"

“Why are you asking for his opinion? Eileen demands.

"Well, I would sell"

Howard delivers his verdict, that he would sell, which is not what Sioned had been expecting.

Lleucu comes into the Deri

Lleucu comes into the Deri, where Madge and her husband are having a quiet drink, and gets out her phone;

Kylie is looking for Colin

Kylie also comes in, looking for Colin.   “Wasn’t he going with you to see the social worker?” asks Lleucu.

"There was no sign of him"

Kylie replies that when she came out he was not there;  “I thought he’d be waiting in the car, but there was no sign of him.

"I had to catch the bus home"

“I had to catch the bus home.   (Several months ago, Megan was protesting about all the buses to Cwmderi being cancelled)

Kylie has been trying phone him, but he is not answering and she is fearful that something is wrong,

"There must be a simple explanation"

but Lleucu is sure there must be a simple explanation.   Hywel has just come in and has been listening to their conversation.

"I'm just being honest"

At Penrhewl, Howard tells Sioned, “I’m just being honest – and you did ask!”   Eileen insists that Howard knows his stuff and that they should respect his opinion.

"You're a fan of Howard now?"

“What?   You, of all people, a fan of Howard now? sneers Sioned,

"He's talking more sense than you"

but Eileen maintains that he is talking more sense than she is.   She regrets giving those fields to Sioned.

"Don't jump into anything"

Mathew warns then not to jump into anything;  “The most important thing is that you’re happy.”

"What about the children?"

Howard wonders, “What about the children?” but Mathew reckons that there is nowhere better to raise a family than on a farm – it is the best playing field that you can find.

"Farming isn't what it was . . .`'

Howard then reminds him, “Playing doesn’t last for ever, Math.   I enjoyed farming for years – but it isn’t what it was.

". . . the purse strings get tighter every day"

“The purse strings get tighter every day.”

Eileen pipes up again, “And we’re not talking about selling the job lot – it will be less of a burden.”

"The children can become whatever they want"

Howard continues, “With that money, the children can become whatever they want to be – I’ve never had the opportunity  to do anything else.   I’m not saying I would have been a pilot or a lawyer, but it would have been nice to have the choice.”

"They might want to farm"

Sioned suggests that the children might want to farm;

"But they'll have a few more options"

he replies, “Perhaps - but at least, they’ll have a few more options if you get a good price for half the farm.”

"What's your decision going to be, Sioned?"

Eileen asks what Sioned’s decision is going to be.

Ffion gives up

In the hospital, Jinx and Ffion are playing ‘I-spy’;  “Fan,” guesses Ffion, “File?  Fiddle?   I’ve given up.”

"Ffysio"

He announces that the word is ‘Physio’ [which is spelled Ffysio in Welsh]

"That starts with 'Ph'!"

Ffion protests that the word starts with ‘Ph’;  He replies, “Not in Welsh!”

Then he notices a policeman . . .

Then he notice a police officer coming into the ward and speaking to the staff.

. . . and goes to talk to him

Jinx says that he is going to get a drink, but he goes out of the ward with the officer,

Ffion is suspicious

which makes Ffion suspicious.

Lleucu is still trying to contact Colin;

"Colin, this isn't funny!"

she leaves the message, “Colin, this isn’t funny!   Kylie and I are having kittens here!   Phone me back when you get this, please.”

"Is it worth looking in the flat again?"

Hywel, standing nearby, is also concerned and wonders whether it is worth looking in the flat again;  “Why?   In case he is hiding behind the curtains?” she demands.   He will phone Britt again;

"I'll stay here"

Kylie will go to the flat, and if he is not there, they will call the police.   Lleucu will stay in the Deri.

"Where have you been?"

However, before they can do any of that, Colin rushes in, demanding where Kylie has been;  “I’ve been thinking all kinds of things!   I came to pick you up and you weren’t there!”

"I waited, ut there was no sign of you"

Kylie insists that he was not there, so she waited, but there was no sign of him.

"I'm just glad you're back, Col"

Hywel is just glad that Colin is back and leaves them to it;

"I lost track of time"

Colin explains, unconvincingly, that he went for a walk and lost track of time.   Another problem was that his phone does not have any juice.

"But we're all here now"

“But we’re all here now – that’s what’s important – panic over, thankfully.   Sit down and I’ll get a menu.”

The anticipation is palpable

Mathew and Howard look at Sioned, anticipating a decision, but she tells them to stop staring at her;

"You're stressing me out!"

“You’re stressing me out!   I can’t make a decision today – I must have more time to think.”

"The bosses want an answer"

At that moment Eileen and Hywel come in;  “Listen, I’m sorry – the bosses want an answer,” he tells them.

"I think I'm willing to sell half of Penrhewl"

All eyes are focussed on Sioned, who announces, “I think I’m willing to sell half of Penrhewl.”

"I'm doing this for the children, not you"

A baby’s cry can be heard on the monitor and she adds, “I’m doing this for the children, not for you.”

"Thank you, Sioned"

Her mother thanks her, as she is on her way upstairs.

Howard approves

Howard and Hywel are glad that the matter is settled.

Colin has given Lleucu a lift

Colin gives Lleucu a lift back to Y Felin and she thanks him for the food;

"You were right – it did help"

“You were right – it did help.,” she concedes and he is pleased that he is good for something.   She urges him not to frighten them again like that.

"When I go shopping, time flies"

“No, sorry – that’s what I’m like when I go shopping – time flies!”

"I thought you went for a walk"

but she thought that he went for a walk;  he maintains that he did both.

“Are you all right, Col?” she asks, rather concerned,

"Tip-top, never better!"

and he replies that he is tip-top, never better.   He will see her tomorrow and warns her not to be late.

"Jinx, tell me the truth"

Jinx returns to Ffion’s bedside and she asks him why he was talking to the police;  “Jinx, tell me the truth.”

"Someone attacked you"

He is forced to tell her, “You didn’t trip – someone attacked you.   They hit you over the head and the police want to know if you’re ready to be questioned.”

"Have they caught whoever did it?"

She is frightened by the thought that someone wanted to kill her;  “Have  they caught whoever did it?

"What if they try again?"

“What if they try again?”

"The police are keeping an eye on things"

Jinx tries to tell her not to get worked up, as the police are keeping an eye on things.

"Why didn't you tell me until now?"

“Why didn’t you tell me until now?” Ffion demands, and begins to panic;

"Someone has tried to kill you and me, Jinx!"

“Someone has tried to kill you and me, Jinx!   Why would someone want to do that?”

"There might not be a connection"

He points out that there might not be a connection, but Ffion is sure that there must be.

"Is there anything else you're keeping from me?"

“Is there anything else you’re keeping from me?” she goes on;  he insists that there is not.   “And you’ve told the police everything?”

He cannot avoid looking guilty

“Of course,” is his answer, but he has a guilty look.
