Then he loudly announces, for the benefit of those sitting nearby, “Anyway, her partner ran off to Swansea then, with her sister’s cousin!” Diane urges him to be quiet,
![]() |
"Everyone knows Jason has problems" |

“I told you that we should have released that statement!” he complains,
![]() |
"I can't be held to blame" |
but Diane insists that she cannot be held to blame for her son’s actions. “So you’re not denying that he’s guilty, then? I’d stay away from HQ if I were you –
![]() |
"Richard Teifi's after your blood!" |

She protests that a minute ago he was saying no-one would blame her. “No-one will blame you – but you’re always cleaning up after him, so he’s never going to learn, is he?”
![]() |

Now Eileen comes rushing in; “Please tell me you’ve seen DJ!” and Diane wonders what he has done now. “He’s taken Lili!”

![]() |
"Let's get one thing straight!" |
“Oh good, you’re here. Now then – let’s get one thing straight here now, OK? DJ would never do anything that would put Lili in any danger at all – you do understand that, don’t you?”
![]() |
"He was panicking after Jason got arrested" |
Mathew hopes that he will not get the chance; “The police are doing everything they can.” Dai explains DJ’s actions simply as panicking after Jason got arrested. He does not want to get dragged into this mess.

![]() |
"No, Mathew!" |
but Sioned wants him to stop.
![]() |
"It's only right that he knows!" |

“Look, everyone knows that DJ would not have anything to do with drugs,” insists Dai, “Jason, on the other hand – he’s a liability!”

![]() |
"DJ stole the money from the safe!" |
However, he is told that is not the case; “It was DJ who stole the money from the safe!”
![]() |
Dai is lost for words – for once |
which Dai finds incredible.
![]() |
"Large whisky, please" |
Tom comes into the Deri and asks for a large whisky;

![]() |
"Go and pick on someone else!" |
Siôn tells him to go and pick on someone else today, with Iolo explaining that someone has broken into Y Felin this afternoon.

Ieuan continues, “That’s what you get for stirring things up!

![]() |
"Sorry to hear that, Siôn" |
On his way out, Tom sympathises, “Sorry to hear that, Siôn, I hope that no-one was hurt.” Siôn is taken in by his mock sincerity, explaining that although they fell out earlier, Tom is someone who cares about people’s safety.

Howard comes downstairs, after settling Jac, which took some time; “It’s as if he knows something’s wrong.” Eileen comes in, reporting that the police have checked all the sheds and the fields, but Howard insists that DJ would not be there.
![]() |
They all go on and on . . . |
“What’s wrong with them?” he adds, but Mathew maintains that they know best. Dai is sure that DJ simply lost his head in a moment of madness.
![]() |
. . . until Sioned shouts at them to stop it |
Sioned suddenly shouts, “Just stop it! What’s wrong with you? All of you?” Her mother says that she is right and needs some peace.

![]() |
"What does a wrestler have to do with this?" |
Iolo cannot understand what a wrestler has to do with this and it is explained, “Not a wrestler, Iolo – she was a woman who conned wealthy men.”
![]() |
"Alex isn't conning anyone" |
Iolo points out a flaw in this argument – that his father is not that wealthy; “And Alex isn’t conning anyone.”
Siôn wonders how he can be so sure;
![]() |
"She breaks into Y Felin at the first opportunity!" |
“Look at this Alex – if that’s her real name – she turns up in our lives, pretending she’s related to us – and she breaks into Y Felin at the first opportunity!”
![]() |
"I'm not listening to any more of this!" |
Iolo decides that he is not listening to any more of this, but Siôn insists that he is only trying to make sense of things; “Who else would do it?”

![]() |
Tom is back at Llwyncelyn . . . |

as the door is now perfectly clean again.
![]() |
"Where have you been?" |

![]() |
"To tell Maya everything, was it?" |

![]() |
"I tried to phone you several times" |
Now Tom puts on his ‘repentant’ act; “I tried to phone you several times,”

"I don't want you ever to be afraid of me" |
“Please don’t says that,” he groans, “I don’t want you ever to be afraid of me – I don’t know what came over me – I’m sorry. I was wrong to get angry like that – but you did betray me, Gaynor. I thought you were a loyal person.”
![]() |
"You told Siôn, didn't you?" |
She tells him that she is, but he reminds her, “I confided in you when I told you about those machines – and you told Siôn, didn’t you?
![]() |
"Pleasing Siôn was more important" |
“Because pleasing Siôn was more important to you than keeping my secret.”
![]() |

"Please, just leave me alone" |
“So, please, just leave me alone, because I don’t think I can go through all that again.”
![]() |
Surely Gaynor realises by now that she is 'being played' |
Gullible Gaynor appears to have been convinced that she is responsible for all this and is looking confused.
![]() |
"Hallelujah!" |
“Hallelujah! I’ll be there now,” says Siôn, telling Dai that the police are on their way to Y Felin at last.
![]() |
"Hope you get some good news soon" |
He hopes that Dai will get some good news soon and,
![]() |
Diane arrives |
as he is going out through the door, meets Diane coming in.
![]() |
"I've been to see Glenys" |
“Where have you been? Arguing with that ‘ionc’ [idiot] Richard Teifi?” Diane says that she has been over to see Glenys. “Glenys Pop be damned!” he snarls, “Do you think gin is going to get us out of this pickle?”
![]() |
"Neither is that whisky!" |
She answers that neither is that whisky in front of him.
![]() |
"I hope that DJ hasn't done anything stupid" |
“I hope DJ hasn’t done anything stupid,” he growls,
![]() |
"He loves Lili to much for that" |
but Diane says he loves Lili too much to do that. Dai goes on, “At least you know where Jason is – he’s not going to run away from where he is, is he?”
![]() |
"Jason might suffer psychological damage in prison" |
Diane is afraid that he might suffer psychological damage in prison;
![]() |
"He had that before he dabbled in drugs!" |
“He had that before he dabbled in drugs!” is Dai’s opinion,
![]() |
"We don't know if he's guilty yet" |
but Diane stresses they do not know that he is guilty yet – and, as Glenys said, they should believe him.
![]() |
"He and DJ stole money from APD" |
“What – after he and DJ stole money from APD?” This comes as news to Diane, who insists that Jason would not do that. “Mathew told me earlier – why didn’t they just go to the police to sort out the mess?”
She cannot understand what he is talking about.
![]() |
"That's why they started dabbling in drugs" |
“That’s why they started dabbling in drugs – to pay back the debt. So I don’t think we're going to see DJ, Jason or Lili for a long time, believe me.” He finishes his whisky and asks Diane if she wants a gin.
![]() |
"Peace – that's what I want!" |
“Peace – that’s what I want,” she answers; he points out that she might as well have a gin while she waits for the taxi home, but she has decided, “I’m not coming home – as I said, I want some peace. I’m going to Bryntirion –
![]() |
And she does not want Dai |
“and, no – I want to be on my own.”
![]() |
"You lost John and I lost . . ." |
“It’s odd how life repeats itself, isn’t it?” says Sioned, “You and I had twins – you lost John and now I’ve . . .”
![]() |
"Lili is with her father" |
Her mother stops her there, maintaining that it is not the same thing at all; “Lili is with her father.”
![]() |
"The thief and drug dealer!" |
Sioned adds the words ‘thief’ and ‘drug dealer’, but Eileen insists, “You will see her again. You’re never going to know how it feels to hold a dead child in your arms, all right?”
![]() |
"Only you, Mam, could make it into a competition" |
Sioned declares, “Only you could make losing a child into a competition – just get out of my sight, Mam! It’s your fault she’s missing in the first place –
![]() |
"If you had been on time to pick her up . . ." |
“if you had been on time to pick her up, she’d be here, safe, with me! But there we are – you’ve always been selfish, haven’t you? Late to pick Lili up – and then you turn up here, more concerned about selling this farm!”
![]() |
"I think I had better go" |
This is too much for Eileen and she thinks that she had better go;
![]() |
"Yes, please!" |
“Yes, please!” is Sioned’s reaction.
![]() |
Gaynor is back on the red wine |
Gaynor pours herself a glass of red wine; as she is drinking it,
![]() |
Tom creeps into the house . . . |
the front door quietly opens and Tom enters.
![]() |
. . . but with what intention? |
He walks silently into the room and creeps up unnoticed.
![]() |
He approaches, completely unnoticed . . . |
We are meant to imagine that he is about to commit some kind of assault upon Gaynor.
![]() |
. . . and touches her shoulder |
In fact, he simply touches her on the shoulder and she is very startled;
![]() |
"I didn't mean to scare you" |
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you,” he lies, “I just make things worse, don’t I? Scaring you again.” She says that he did not do it on purpose.
![]() |
"I don't know what came over me" |
“I’d never do anything like that intentionally – that business with the ‘Lobscouse’ – I don’t know what came over me.”
![]() |
"You've never reacted like that before" |
Gaynor says that he has never reacted like that before (well, not with her, anyway).
![]() |
"I'm truly sorry" |
“I know – and I’m truly sorry, from the bottom of my heart. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it all day. I promise you, it will never happen again, OK? Gaynor, please believe me.”
“OK,” she says, with little conviction, “I do believe you.”
![]() |
"Is there any hope for us?" |
“Is there any hope for us?” he asks,
![]() |
"It's important we can trust each other" |
as she sits, looking dubious. “Because it’s important that we can trust each other, isn’t it?
"You shamelessly lied to my face" |
“And it’s important that you’re honest with me, isn’t it? Because, when I asked you if you told Siôn about the machines, you said no. You shamelessly lied – right to my face – and you know what they call that, don’t you? ‘Gaslighting’ – that’s what they call it.
![]() |
"Just like Cheryl used to" |
“You ‘Gaslighted’ me, exactly like Cheryl used to – it’s true, isnt it?”
![]() |
"I didn't mean it in that way" |
Gaynor is looking confused, and denies that it is true, emphasising that she did not mean it in that way, but promises that it will never happen again.
![]() |
"I'll make a meal for us" |
He then suggests that he will make a meal to go with the wine; then they can relax and watch a film or something.
![]() |
He opens the fridge door |
As he opens the fridge door,
![]() |
Is she finally 'wising up'? |
we see that perhaps Gaynor is getting a glimpse what is being done to her.
![]() |
Sioned locks the door . . . |
Sioned is very upset as she comes into the farmhouse and at that moment, her phone sounds;
![]() |
. . . reads the message from DJ . . . |
she hurries in to look at it and discovers a message from mobile number 07700 900482, with a photograph of Lili. The message reads, ‘Do you want to see Lili again? Not a word to anyone.’
![]() |
. . . and is distraught |
She is distraught.
