Mark is eating his breakfast

Mark is eating his breakfast when there is a knock at the door;

The caller is Jinx

he discovers that it is Jinx;

"You need to go to the police"

“Listen, I’ve been thinking – you need to go to the police to say that you attacked me!”

He was not expecting that

Mark does not like the sound of this at all.

"She's asleep at last"

Kelly is about to leave number 7 and informs  Ieuan that Anita is asleep at last;

"Have you been to Brazil?"

“Have you been to Brazil to roast your own coffee beans, or what?” she demands

"Sorry – I forgot"

and he realises that he has forgotten to make her a cup.

“I asked for a cup about, like, half an hour ago,” she continues, but he picks up his keys, intending to go.

"You have to stay here!"

“Excuse me!” she says, “You have to stay here until until Auntie Anita wakes up, to give her the tablets.   I have to go – the wraps won’t sell themselves!”

"The boss might let you start later"

Ieuan suggest that she could have a word with the boss, who might let her start later.

"Tablets at nine o'clock –on the dot!"

“Don’t you dare!” Kelly snarls, “I was up all night with Auntie Anita’s nightmares while you were dead to the world.   I’ve got a business to get up and running – tablets at nine o’clock – on the dot!”

"Kelly!"

She will not listen to any of his entreaties, but leaves the house.

"What if the police think I attacked Ffion?"

“What if the police think I attacked Ffion as well?” enquires Mark;  Jinx replies that he must have an alibi.

"I don't know what I did last week"

“I don’t know what I did last week, let alone two months ago,,” he whines, “Let me talk to Ffion, all right?   I’ll explain to her that I didn’t hurt her.”

"We're putting her life at risk!"

Jinx explains to him that is not the point;  “By keeping this quiet we’re leading the police to think there’s a link between the two attacks – and there isn’t!   We’re putting her life at risk – and the person who did it is still out there.”

Mark protests, “Look, I know I deserve to go to jail for what I did to you – and I’m not trying to avoid that,

"I'm really worried about Dani"

“but I’m really worried about Dani.   She needs me –she’s not coping.”

"Ffion comes first . . ."

Jinx accepts his point and sympathises, but Ffion comes first – Mark has to understand that.

". . . you've got until the end of the day"

“You’ve got until the end of the day to do the right thing,” Jinx tells him as he leaves Maes-y-Deri.

Mark is in a quandary

Mark does not know what to do.

A tense moment at Y Felin

At Y Felin, Alex waits as Iolo opens the envelope containing the test result,

"I'm not suitable"

but then he discovers to his horror, “I’m not suitable – I’m sorry.”

This is a blow to Alex

Alex tries to stop herself from crying.

"I forgot the flippin' feta!"

Ieuan is engaged in a zoom meeting when Kelly returns and he tries to quieten her, but she exclaims, “I forgot the flippin’ feta in the fridge!   What are chicken and feta wraps without feta?”

He is engrossed in his meeting and apologises that he is not able to attend in the flesh.

She throws down her keys

Kelly is not having this;  she throws down her keys,

"I must be on mute

and he realises that he is on mute, so attempts to remedy this.

The tablets are still there

Kelly goes into the kitchen and find that Anita’s tablets are still on the table;

Kelly slams shut the laptop

she marches back into the room, peremptorily slamming shut his laptop.   He loudly protests that he is in the middle of a meeting.

"Why is this tablet on the table?"

“Why is this tablet on the table?” she furiously demands;  he maintains that he was going to wake her after his meeting, but is told, with increasing vehemence,

"If Auntie Anita's nightmares get worse . . ."

“She should have had it before now!   If Auntie Anita’s nightmares get worse because she hasn’t had her tablets, I swear to God . . .

"You're treading on very thin ice!"

“I’m running on two hours sleep and you’re treading on very thin ice!   If you don’t share the load,

"I'm going to deep-fry your little bald head!"

“I am going to take your little bald head, deep fry it, put it in wraps and feed it to my customers – get it?”

Kelly storms out . . .

She picks up her keys once again and leaves the house,

. . . leaving Ieuan in fear of his life

while Ieuan looks very stunned.

Iolo brings Alex a cup of tea

After the bad news, Iolo brings Alex a cup of tea;

"I never considered that"

“I never considered that someone who’s had breast cancer can’t donate a kidney.”

"But you were willing to try"

She stresses that he was willing to try, and she will always be grateful for that, but he insists that this is not the end of the journey –

"This is only a detour"

but only a detour.   “We are going to find you a donor.”

"It's up to me now, Iolo"

She emphasises that he has done what he could and now it is up to her.   However, Iolo is adamant that he is not going to turn his back on her;  “We’re family!”

"Eileen insisted on making me breakfast"

and at that minute, Siôn comes into the house, explaining that Eileen insisted on making him breakfast.

"Dad . . ."

“Dad,” begins Iolo,

"Out – now!"

but Siôn tells Alex to get out now.   She is ready to comply with the instruction,

"Let's find you another donor"

but Iolo pleads with her not to leave;  “Let’s find you another donor, please.”

Siôn realises that his son cannot do it;

"Please, Dad – there's a chance . . ."

“No – but perhaps you could!”   Siôn does not want to start all this again, but Iolo will not give up.   “Please, Dad – as her biological father, there’s a chance you could be a match.”

"This is completely unacceptable"

Siôn maintains that he is not a monster and does wish her well, but this is completely unacceptable;  so saying, he goes upstairs.   Iolo is devastated.

"Are you busy, Mark?"

When Kath comes into Maes-y-Deri, she finds Mark at the table, surrounded by paperwork, and asks if he is busy;  “I want you to change a bulb for me.”

"You could get Cassie to do it"

He suggests that she could get Cassie to do it, as she is taller than him, but is told that she is not there.

"I was hoping you'd be happy to help your mother"

“And she can’t climb on chairs because of her knees.”   His next idea is that she should ask Colin;  he would be happy to do it.   “I was hoping you would be happy to help your mother,” she reprimands him,

"I have to go"

but he picks up some of the papers and tells her that he has to go.

When she asks where,

"The Bull"

he tells her that it is to The Bull

She is perplexed by all the receipts

and she looks confused at all the papers on the table.

"Breakfast wrap, Rhys?"

Rhys comes out of Ceffyl Du and Kelly asks if he would like a breakfast wrap.   “Go on, then – and I’ll have one for Dad as well.”

"You've doubled my entire morning's profits!"

Kelly reports that he has doubled her entire mornings profits, and finds it hard to believe that it is that bad.

"The mud really does stick, like"

“No-one trusts us – the mud really does stick, like.”

"I'll think of a way out of this mud"

Rhys tells her to leave it with him and he will think of a way out of this mud.

"You forgot the Feta"

She charges him £8.60 and they see Ieuan approaching, carrying a tray;  “You forgot the Feta,” he informs her.

"I know I'm not supposed to use a domestic fridge . . ."

“Before you say anything, I know I’m not supposed to use a domestic fridge, but this one was chocker, so . . .” says Kelly.

"As long as my head doesn't end up on the menu"

He agrees that he will not say a word – on one condition – that his head does not end up on the menu.

"Has she had her tablets?"

Kelly smiles and asks if Anita has had her tablets;  he advises that she has done so and is now back in bed.

"I've heard these are the best wraps on the country"

He could do with some breakfast;  “I’ve heard these are the best wraps in the country.”   Kelly would not go quite that far.

A phone order arrives . . .

Suddenly, her phone sounds and she is amazed by what she sees;  “Twenty breakfast wraps!” she squeals, “The new building site on the estate in Cwrtmynach.

. . . ~Kelly's biggest order yet!

“This is my biggest order yet, Ieuan!   “I’ve prepped three wraps, so that means I’ve got . . . loads more to do.”

He wonders if she needs a sous chef, in that case;  “Do you know what?”

Ieuan is roped in to help

she says and throws him a pretty pink tabard.

Mark arrives at the police station . . .

Mark walks through the door of the police station,

. . . but is reluctant

but then hesitates.

The twenty wraps are made . . .

Ieuan comes out of Fflamingo with the box of twenty wraps and Kelly presents him with another one,

"No family discount, sorry"

but warns, “You still have to pay for it – there’s no family discount, sorry.”

"See, I've taught you something already"

He can see that she has a business brain, so he has taught her something already.

But when he bits into it . . .

However, when he takes a bite, he finds his wrap rather spicy

. . . he finds it difficult to speak

and exclaims, “Crikey!   What sauce did you put in this?”   Kelly replies that it was ketchup.   He continues speaking, with difficulty;  “It’s lovely – just a bit spicy.”

"I've put Sriracha in them all!"

Suddenly, it hits Kelly;  “Oh my giddy aunt – I’ve put Sriracha in them all!

"The builders won't want them now!"

“The builders won’t want them now!”

"It's not the end of the world, Kelly"

He urges her to keep a cool head as it is not the end of the world, although she can clearly see that the spiciness has him in tears.

"What am I going to do, Ieuan?"

“I haven’t got enough ingredients to make more!” she wails, “These have gone to waste – what am I going to do, Ieuan?”

"A little bit of Sriracha won't do them any harm"

He maintains that builders are the hardest people that you will find – little bit of Sriracha will not do them any harm.

"What would you prefer?"

Rhys is sitting in the Deri, jotting down some figures and asks Jinx, “What would you prefer – a happy hour, or two for the price of one?”

Jinx has other things on his mind

But Jinx’s mind is elsewhere and he says that both of them are good ideas.

"You don't expect me to give advice to the competition?"

Kath, behind the bar, is engrossed in her phone;  “You don’t expect me to give advice to our competition, do you?”

"You haven't seen Mark, have you?"

She is concerned because Mark is not answering her texts.   Neither of them have seen him and she says that he went to The Bull first thing this morning.

Rhys fears that he will be pouring away his beer

Rhys puts on his jacket, moaning, “I’ll be pouring beer down the plug, thanks to Jason and DJ.”

"What sort of mood was Mark in?"

Now Kath has realised that her texts are not going through at all.  Jinx wonders what sort of mood Mark was in this morning

"He was going through his receipts"

and she answers, “Well, a bit stressed, you know – he was going through his receipts.   I don’t know why, because he doesn’t do his own tax – I don’t know what’s going on.”

"He must want some peace"

Jinx is sure that he will answer;  “He must want some peace if he’s switched off his phone.”   Kath thinks that it is more likely that he is in trouble, as he always answers his phone.   “He must be busy – give him time,” is Jinx’s advice

"Do you know something, Jinx?"

and she gets the impression that he knows something.

Of course he denies that, but Kath is insistent;

"Come on – out with it!"

“Jinx, out with it – if you know something!” she demands.

"You shouldn't have asked him . . ."

Iolo has printed something and tells Alex that it is a health questionnaire for his father.   “You shouldn’t have asked him – and he would need to have a chat with the transplant coordinator first.

". . . you can't put pressure on him"

“You can’t put pressure on him.”

"You're still here, then?"

Siôn walks in through the door and comments, “You’re still here, then?”   Alex says that she did not want to leave without checking that he was OK.

"Did you really have to walk out?"

Iolo asks his father if he really had to walk out;

"It was inappropriate!"

“What you asked was inappropriate!” Siôn snarls.   Iolo contests that, pointing out that his father either wants Alex to live or is happy for her to die.   “Of course I’m not,” says Siôn.

"Well, help her, then!"

“Well, help her, then,” but Siôn regards that as unfair;  he maintains that this should be a private conversation between the two of them.

“Alex doesn’t know how long she has and you’re too selfish to help!” complains Iolo,

This is very embarrassing for Alex

as Alex is becoming very embarrassed.

"That's enough, Iolo!"

She shouts at Iolo that he has said enough and that his father is right;  “I know this is coming from a good place, but you can’t force him to do this.   I don’t want him to feel under pressure.

"That wasn't my intention when I came here today"

“I’m sorry, Siôn – that wasn’t my intention when I came here today.”   She immediately walks out of the house.

Kelly is downhearted

Kelly is sitting gloomily on the bench by the pharmacy when Ieuan comes along;  “Well, I delivered them and I just have to accept that they’re definitely not coming back for seconds, like,” she sighs,

"How could I be so stupid?"

“How could I be so stupid?”

"I remember when Melanie and Lauren were born"

He points out that mistakes happen, especially when she is tired;  “I remember when Melanie and Lauren were born.”

"You're not comparing Auntie Anita to a newborn?"

“Are you seriously comparing Auntie Anita to having a newborn?”enquires Kelly,

"Sleep deprivation is sleep deprivation"

but he maintains that sleep deprivation is sleep deprivation.   He recalls putting orange juice in his tea and the car keys in the fridge, which makes Kelly chuckle.

"Perhaps we should do shifts"

“I’ve been thinking,” he goes on, “Perhaps we should do shifts when Anita is up at night.   You go home – Anita’s awake and she feels more like herself – and I’ll keep an eye on the van this afternoon.”

"I've got a lot to do"

She thanks him for the offer, but adds that she has a lot to do.

Mark is waiting

Mark is sitting in the police station when his mother comes in;  “Have you done it?

"Have you spoken to the pigs?"

“Have you spoken to the pigs?”

"I can't avoid it any more, Mam"

He answers that they cannot avoid it anymore, but Kath regards him as crazy.

"Come home with me now!"

“Of course you have a choice – come home with me, now!”

Mark argues that this is the right thing to do, but she tells him that if he believes that he will be sent straight to jail.

"I might not be in long"

He says that on the news they say that jails are full, so he might not be in for long.   Kath does not have much confidence in the judicial system;

"You're more stupid than I thought!"

“If you think they’ll show any mercy to someone like you, you’re more stupid than I thought.”

"I couldn't live with myself, Mam"

He explains, “Someone tried to kill Ffion, right?   I couldn’t live with myself if I stopped that person being caught.   I have to do this!”

"What if they think you did that, too?"

“And what if they think you did that, too?”

Mark has an alibi for that

He replies that he has receipts and a copy of the CCTV from The Bull to prove where he was on the day Ffion was attacked.   He adds that he deserves to be punished for what he did to Jinx, anyway.

"I'm sorry, Mam  – it will be OK"

“I’m sorry, Mam – it will be OK.”

"I'll support you,  Mark"

She stresses that she will support him,

"Mark Jones?"

as a police officer comes in and calls his name.

"What happened to service with a smile?"

When Rhys walks up to Fflamingo, he finds Kelly sitting moodily on the doorstep and demands, “What happened to service with a smile?”

"I lost twenty customers in one fell swoop!"

She groans, “I managed to lose twenty customers in one fell swoop today – Eileen will be over the moon that I ‘face-planted’ at the first hurdle with this business.”

"I heard the boys like food with a bit of a kick"

Rhys comments, “I heard that the boys like food with a bit of a kick,”

"What have you done, Rhys?"

and she wonders what he has done.   “I just spread the message to a couple of mates on the housing estate.”

Kelly thinks that he is fibbing,

"I've only heard good things . . ."

but he is adamant that he has only heard good things;

". . . although I wouldn't want to clean those Portaloos!"

“Although I wouldn’t want to clean those Portaloos tomorrow!”

Not a pleasant thought

She finds this image rather off-putting,

"I'm taking you for a milkshake"

but is determined to take Rhys to MFC for a milkshake, which he says is better than listening to his father complaining about his love life.

"Who's the lucky lady, then?"

“Hang on – did you say that Hywel has a love life?   Who’s the lucky lady?”   Rhys is reluctant to answer,

"Or I'm putting double hot sauce on your next wrap!"

so she threatens, “Spill – or I’m putting double hot sauce on your next wrap!”

“Cassie – but not a word to anyone,” he swears her to secrecy.

"That Cassie's a dark horse"

She calls Cassie a ‘dark horse’.

Iolo comes back to Y Felin, where his father is writing;  “Look, Dad, I’m not going to apologise, but I shouldn’t have put you on the spot in front of her.”

Siôn says he should admire his son’s perseverance.

"If you saw a stranger having a  heart attack . . ."

“If you saw a stranger having a heart attack, what would you do?   Step over them and carry on walking?”

"Would you really have given her a kidney?"

Siôn in turn demands, “Would you really have given her a kidney if you could?”

"Yes, I would"

Iolo replies that he would, but is reminded that there is an element of risk in every operation;

"As a family, we understand that"

“As a family, we understand that.”

"I wouldn't have offered if I wasn't confident"

Iolo describes it as a small risk, perhaps, “But I wouldn’t have offered to help if I wasn’t confident that it was safe, Dad.”

"I'm not going to put my health at risk"

Siôn is adamant that he is not going to put his health at risk;  he wants to be there for Iolo and Greta.

“What sort of example is that for Greta?

"I want her to respect you"

“I want her to respect you – do the right thing – show her how important it is to help people.”

Mark comes out

Mark emerges from the interview room and his mother wants to know what is going on;

"They're keeping me in for further questioning"

“They’re keeping me in for further questioning,” he tells her and she wonders why, if he has confessed.

“They think I attacked Ffion as well,” he says.

"You have evidence you weren't there`'

Kath points out that he has evidence he was not there, but he continues that they want to investigate;

"I can't go down for attempted murder, Mam"

“I can’t go down for attempted murder, Mam – I’ve asked for a solicitor . . .” but at that moment, the officer takes him by the arm and leads him away.

"You can't do that!   It wasn't Mark!"

Kath shouts after them, “Hey, you can’t do this!   It wasn’t Mark!”
