Jinx is suffering from a cold

Jinx comes downstairs and it is evident that he has acquired a cold;  

He finds that they have a visitor

he is very surprised to see Arwen in a sleeping bag on the floor 

"Good morning"

and an unknown boy asleep on the sofa.   

"What on earth are you doing here?"

“Hey – what on earth are you doing here?” he exclaims, “You’ve been here all night, then – great!   And what’s all this mess?”

"We were peckish"

Arwen simply replies that they were peckish;  Jinx warns her that she cannot do this on a school night and she is already late.   

"Chill, Jinx"

“Chill, Jinx,” she tells him, but he goes on to say that if her mother was there now . . .

“She’s not, though – and you’re late as well!” she argues.   

"You have to ask first"

Jinx points out to her that if she wants someone to stay, she has to ask first.   

"You're jealous!"

“You’re jealous because your girlfriend packed her bags and went to Italy,” says Arwen.

“I know you’re finding it difficult without your mother – I miss her too – but we have to make this work.   Arwen asks her guest if he wants some breakfast;  

"I don't want to see you again!"

“He can have breakfast at home – and he can go now!” shouts Jinx, “I don’t want to see you again – do you understand?”

The boy hurries to put on his shoes 

"And you can tidy the place up"

as Arwen is instructed to tidy up the place, 

Arwen has no intention of doing that

but in response, she snuggles down in the sleeping bag once again.

Sioned manoeuvres out of the deli

Sioned is leaving the deli when Dani comes along the road;  

"I wanted to say that I'm glad Lili's back"

“I just wanted to say that I’m glad Lili’s back,” she tells Sioned, “And I’m sorry I haven’t seen you.”   Sioned is grateful for her support 

Dani has a present for Lili

and is given a little present for Lili – a teddy bear.

"I hear Howard is back"

“I hear Howard is back with you,” Dani continues, revealing that people were talking about the drama in the Deri between him and Mathew.   

"What was that all about, then?"

Sioned wonders what that was all about.

Britt looks in Kylie's bag . . .

When Britt looks in Kylie’s school bag, 

. . . and finds a disreputable banana

she finds a rather ancient banana;  “Why do I bother?” she demands, “This is the second time in two weeks.”

"Five fruit a day keep the doctor healthy"

As Colin drinks his cup of tea, he remarks, “Well, I’ve told her ‘five fruit a day to keep the doctor healthy’ – but she doesn’t listen to me.   No, hold on, ‘five fruit a day, no flu for long’ . . .”

Britt also finds an envelope

Britt also find an envelope addressed to Kylie’s parents and guardians, but Colin is still trying to remember the rhyme, 

"Five fruit and veg, no sign of the vet?"

coming up with ‘Five fruit and veg, no sign of the vet.”

"Look at this, Col!"

Britt becomes very excited about what she reads and shows it to Colin, 

He is surprised

who also looks very surprised.

Jinx seeks a cold remedy

In the pharmacy, Jinx is looking for something to help with his cold;  “I’ll stick with this – it’s worked in the past,” as he puts down a packet on the counter.

"Drink water and plenty of sleep"

Gaynor advises that he should drink water and get plenty of sleep, but he thinks there is a little chance of that;  

"Do you know Ethan Young?"

“Arwen’s friend is always over – do you know Ethan Young?   He had an unofficial sleepover last night, but I might as well talk to this counter than try to get Arwen to listen.”

"She's going through a very difficult time"

Gaynor appreciates that she is going through a very difficult time at the moment;  

"He lost his mother very young . . ."

“And he went through a difficult time at school as well – I remember him.   He lost his mother very young and things weren’t good at home, 

". . . but he's a nice lad"

“but he’s a nice lad.”   

Jinx may have acted rather hastily

This rather changes Jinx’s attitude towards him.

Mathew comes int the Deri

Dani is at work, cleaning in the Deri, when Mathew comes in, looking very ‘hung-over’.   Dani assumes that he had a big night;  he agrees that it was bigger than he had expected.   

"I heard that things got a bit heated"

“Yes, I heard that things got a bit heated,” she tells him.

“I don’t remember anything after town,” he confesses and she imagines that he was drowning his sorrows or something.   

"Things haven't gone as I expected with Sioned"

“You could say that – things haven’t gone as I expected with Sioned.”   

"I hadn't heard about that"

Dani had not heard about him and Sioned, but he informs her that there is nothing to know any more.

"There are a lot more fish in the sea"

She maintains that there are a lot more fish in the sea, and he asks how she is.   

"I'm fine"

She replies that she is fine, then warns him not to do that thing people do when they do not know what to say.   

"Well, I don't know what to say"

He protests that he does not know what to say.

"You could talk about Seren"

She suggests that he could talk about Seren;  “The stories – the happy life she had – there’s more to her, than just the way she died.”

"That was some night, wasn't it?"

He recalls, “That was some night when she came into the world, wasn’t it?” 

"The best Christmas present ever"

and Dani calls her ‘the best Christmas present ever’.

"Seren suited her a lot more than Carol"

“And I have to say, the name Seren suited her a lot more than Carol.”   

"You wanted her to be celled Carol"

Dani reminds him that he was the one who wanted her to be called Carol.

Lleucu is at work in the deli

In the deli, Lleucu is cleaning the counter and Jinx is on the phone by the window.   

"Everyone deserves a treat"

As they come in, Tom is insisting that he will buy Gaynor her lunch;  “Everyone deserves a treat,” he says.

Lleucu greets them and remarks on the sunny weather, then asks if it is busy at the pharmacy.   “Is it true that you used to be the headteacher?   

"It's bit of a downgrade"

“It’s a bit of a downgrade, working in the pharmacy.”

"Cheese on toast, Lleucu!"

Eileen reminds her staff member that she has to make cheese on toast for a customer, so Lleucu hurries into the kitchen.

"They've started to take Ffion off the ventilator"

Jinx warns Gaynor not to get too close to him, adding, “I’ve just been on the phone to the hospital and they have started to take Ffion off the ventilator, 

"That's good news"

“which is good news.”

Tom fears is may have repercussions for him

Tom, on the other hand, does not regard it as good news at all, as Jinx muses, “You don’t know what you’ve got until you almost lose someone.”

"We hope she recovers quickly"

Gaynor hopes that she recovers quickly, “Isn’t that right, Tom?”

Gaynor has not yet decided what she will have and asks Lleucu to tell her about the carrot cake;  

"It's been selling fine since Monday"

“I’m not a fan myself, but it’s been selling fine since Monday.”

"All the cake is fresh each day"

At this, Eileen immediately springs into action, pointing out that Lleucu has misunderstood and that it was fresh this morning, like every other cake there.   Gaynor will simply have a cup of tea and asks Tom what he wants, but he appears engrossed in his phone.   

"No, Lleucu – ham and coleslaw"

Then he says he will have a ham and coleslaw sandwich, which Eileen will go and make, correcting Lleucu when she calls it ham and tomato.

“Concentrate, will you?” Eileen snarls, “I know you’re used to getting your own way, 

"It's time to keep your mouth shut"

“but it’s time to keep your mouth shut and respect the pecking order.   

"I don't pay you to answer back"

“I don’t pay you to answer back and lose customers, do you understand?”

Then the smoke alarm from the kitchen can be heard, 

"Oh – the cheese on toast!"

and Lleucu realises that it is the cheese on toast, rushing to salvage it.

Dani is helping herself again

Dani is back to her habit of helping herself in the Deri, and also giving a pint to Mathew, commenting, “Hair of the dog!”   He asks whether Kath knows that she is drinking on the job, 

"I've finished my shift – the place is sparkling"

but Dani insists, “I’ve finished my shift – the place is sparkling.”

"I'm sorry for not coming to see you, Dan"

“Look, Dan, I’m so sorry for not coming to see you since you lost Seren – I should have been here a long time ago.   

"I haven't even been to see Ffion"

“The same with Ffion – I haven’t even been to see her in hospital.”   Dani realises that this is the hangover talking.

However he continues, “No wonder my love life is in the state it’s in, if this is how I treat women.”   

"Sioned doesn't know what she's missing"

Dani assures him that Sioned does not know what she is missing.   

He is summoned to Penrhewl

His phone sounds and he mutters, “Speak of the devil!   Can you come over, please?   It will be to collect my stuff, probably.”

"Thanks for the chat, Dani"

He gets up and walks towards the door, thanking Dani for the chat

Arwen is back early from school

Arwen comes into Y Felin unexpectedly and is told by Jinx that she should be at school;  “And you should be at work!” she answers, “I forgot my PE kit.”

"I want to talk to you"

He wants to talk to her, 

"If you're going to go on about Ethan . . ."

but she protests, “If you’re going to go on about Ethan, I don’t want to hear it!”

On the contrary, he wanted to say that he was a bit rash this morning and sorry.   “I didn’t know that he’d had it so tough.”

"It's not nice to judge people!'

She reminds him that it is not nice to judge people, going on to explain, “His father is really low at the moment – so he doesn’t like spending time at home.”

"I haven't been at home much"

Jinx appreciates that Arwen probably wanted some company, as with the hospital and him being at The Pizza Place, he has not been at home much.   “Why don’t we all go to the Deri tonight?   

"My treat – a fresh start?"

“My treat – a fresh start – what do you say?” 

"I'll ask Ethan"

Arwen is not sure, but will ask Ethan.

Colin is trying a spot of juggling

Colin, in the shop, is rather short of customers at the moment, so is practising his juggling skills, with limited success.   

"I don't pay you to juggle!"

When Eileen comes in, accompanied by Lleucu, she is not impressed.   “I don’ t pay you to juggle!” she snarls, 

"I was tidying the stock"

but he maintains that he was tidying the stock as it is very quiet this morning.

"I've brought you an apprentice"

“Well, I’m fed up with you complaining that you haven’t got enough to do, so I’ve brought you an apprentice – 

"Apprentice?"

“and it won’t be quiet any more, I can tell you!   

"Join can start by tidying the place up"

“Right, Lleucu, you can start by tidying this place – I’m going back to Tamed.”

"Aye-aye, Muss–Eileeni!"

“Aye-aye, Muss-Eileeni!” says Lleucu, when she has gone, which Colin regards as very good.   

"I wonder who stole her porridge"

He wonders who stole her porridge 

"I know who stole her cheese yesterday!"

and Lleucu answers, “I know who stole her cheese yesterday!”   

She catches an Easter egg

Colin throws her some Easter eggs to catch.

"You got my text, then?"

Mathew gingerly enters Penrhewl and is greeted by Sioned;  “You got my text, then?” she says, so he wonders where all his belongings are.   

She offers him a cup of tea

“Do you want a cup of tea?” she asks and he agrees.

"I'm sorry for being such an idiot"

“Look, Sioned, I’m sorry for being such an idiot.”   

"Any specific incident?"

Sioned enquires  whether he has a specific incident in mind – or is it just a general observation.

"Yesterday in particular"

“In general – but yesterday in particular.”   She thanks him for his apology and stresses that she is also sorry, explaining that last week was just . . . a lot.   “I don’t like this,” he continues, 

"I think the world of you, Sioned"

“I just want to be honest with you.   I think the world of you, Sioned.   I understand that you don’t want to go down that path – and that’s fine – but I just don’t want to lose you as a friend, either.   

"It wouldn't be a competition"

“I also don’t want you to think that it would ever be a competition between me and the children – because it wouldn’t.   

"I'll go and get my stuff"

“I’d never make you choose between us – never.   I’ll go and get my stuff.”   

"No, Mathew – wait"

Sioned tells him to wait.

"Here she comes – the superstar!"

As Kylie comes upstairs to the MFC flat, Britt shouts, “Here she comes – the superstar!   

"Why didn't you tell us about this?"

“Why didn’t you tell us about this – the Urdd?   Getting through to the National in the theatrical performance is fantastic.”

"It's not a big deal"

Kylie does not regard it as a big deal;  “I thought you’d be too busy.”   she is told that Britt and Colin have been talking 

"We'll organise a big day out"

and they will have to organise a big day out to support her.

Actually, Kylie realises that it is a big deal which will be on television and everything, but is assured that she has nothing to be nervous about and informs Britt that she is doing ‘Butch Cassidy’ by Alan Prys Hughes.   

"If you can do it in front of me . . ."

Britt wants an immediate demonstration;  “If you can do it in front of me, you can do it in front of thousands on the telly.

"You won't believe what happened in the shop!"

At that moment, Colin appears;  “You won’t believe what happened in the shop this morning,” 

Kylie catches the Easter egg

and tosses an Easter egg to Kylie.   

"We're doing a rehearsal, Col"

Britt tells him to sit down and be quiet, as they are doing a rehearsal.

"Dad was sick on the sofa . . ."

“Dad was sick on the sofa, asleep – I went to him and . . .” Kylie begins;  

"You could point a finger"

Britt maintains that it was very good, but suggests that she ought to make it a bit sadder – and perhaps it might be a good idea to point a finger.

Colin is not quite 'with it'

She demonstrates in front of Colin, who still does not fully understand what is going on.

"What happened between you and Howard?

At the kitchen table in Penrhewl, Sioned wants to know what happened between Mathew and Howard;  “If you’re going to live under the same roof again.”   

"I thought you wanted me to move out"

Mathew was under the impression that Sioned wanted him to move out, 

"I think I overreacted"

but she thinks that she overreacted last week.

She still wants to know what happened, 

"He was rubbing my nose in it"

so he explains, “Look, he was rubbing my nose in the fact that you’d asked him to move back in.”

Sioned laughs and informs him that she was going to ask him first, that is why she came to see him yesterday;  

"But you were determined to act like a . . ."

“But you were determined to act like a . . .”

He takes her point and says he has already apologised for that;  “So would you consider moving back in, then?”   

"Don't read too much into it . . ."

He agrees, if she is sure, but she wants him not to read too much into it.   

". . . housemates, just friends – nothing more"

“Housemates, just friends – nothing more.   Do you think you and Howard can live together again?”   Mathew is sure that they can make it work.

"I don't know much about this acting business"

Colin confides to Kylie, “I don’t know much about this acting business, but I understand what you mean.”   Kylie explains that it is nice to spend time with Britt, but . . . Colin completes her sentence;  

"Her advice is not always tip-top"

“Her advice is not always tiptop, is it?   But we don’t want to upset her.”

Kylie needs more help than the drama club;  “Leave it with me – 

"I think I've got a plan"

“I think I’ve got a plan,” he says, taking out his phone.  

"I wanted to ask a favour"

“Hiya, it’s me – how are you?   I wanted to ask a favour.”

Mathew looks at his phone . . .

Sioned and Mathew come into the Deri, Mathew looking at his phone, 

. . . to see a message from Dani

where a message from Dani has just arrived, telling him ‘Lovely to chat with you today’.

Colin was talking to Gaynor

Just along the bar from them are Gaynor, who is the person that Colin has contacted, and Tom;  she tells him, “Colin wants to know the number of a tutor who used to come to the school.   Kylie wants some help with a monologue.”

"How is everyone at Penrhewl?"

Then she asks how everyone is at Penrhewl;  

"Eileen's keeping an eye on them"

Mathew explains that Eileen is keeping an eye on everyone while they have a drink.   Tom makes a great show of buying drinks for everyone to celebrate Lili being safely back home.

Jinx, Arwen and Ethan are having their meal

Nearby, Arwen and Ethan are having a meal with Jinx, who has something to say to Ethan;  

"I want to apologise, OK?"

“I want to apologise for the way I spoke to you, OK?   With this cold, I got up on the wrong side of the bed – I’m sorry.   

"You can sleep on the sofa . . ."

“You’re welcome to stay any time, if you ask first, but you can sleep on the sofa 

". . . and Arwen can sleep upstairs"

“and Arwen can sleep upstairs.”

Then his phone sounds . . .

Having said that, his phone sounds and he can see that it is the hospital;  

. . . and he hears good news from the hospital

Arwen looks anxiously as he answers it.

As he hurries toward to the door . . .

He hears that Ffion has woken up and as he rapidly heads for the door, 

. . . he tell them that Ffion has woken up

he gives the good news to the four of them at the bar;  three are extremely glad to hear it, while the other, not so much.   

"How is she,  Jinx?"

Tom asks how she is, but Jinx did not get a lot of sense out of the hospital, so he is going there now.

“That’s good news, isn’t it?” says Gaynor, 

Tom is now very worried

but Tom is very concerned as he drinks his pint.
