Anita ignores the kettle whistling

Anita is sitting at number 7 and obviously her mind is far away, as the kettle is whistling on the gas hob.   Kelly rushes in, shouting to her, but she does not respond.   

"Can't you hear that?"

“Can’t you hear that , or . . .” Kelly asks and finally Anita realises what is going on, apologising repeatedly.

"It's all right"

It’s all right,” says Kelly 

"What the are you leaving?"

and Anita asks what time she is leaving.   

"I don't think I shall go . . ."

You know, I don’t think I’m going to go, Auntie Neet,” is the reply.   She is reminded that she said she needed the break.

". . . until we have answers"

“But not now – not until you – we – have answers.”   Anita points out that it might be a long time before they get answers, but Kelly is determined.   

"That would hurt me a lot more"

“If you changed your plans, it would hurt me a lot more, knowing that you’re staying here because you’re worried about me,” argues Anita, “I do enough of that.”

Kelly still insists that she wants to be here for her aunt;  “You are here – and you will be – always.   

"You're only at the other end of the phone"

“You’re only at the other end of the phone anyway – and I’ve got Ieuan as well.   What time are you flying?”

"2:15 — if I go!"

Kelly replies that it is at 2:15;  “If I go!” but Anita insists that there is no ‘if’ about it.   Kelly is going and will be the first on that aeroplane.   

They hug

She is invited to give her aunt a hug 

"Off you go – safe journey"

and is wished a safe journey.   

Something is weighing on her mind

Then Anita resumes her worried look.

"How are you, bride-to-be?"

Iolo comes into the deli and congratulates Dani and Jinx on their news;  “How are you, bride to be?” he asks.   

"I have to go and open up"

Jinx hopes that no-one is listening and says that it is time for him to go and open up The Pizza Place, telling the two of them to enjoy their brunch.

"You've got a good egg there, Dani"

You’ve got a good egg there,” Iolo tells Dani, “It’s nice to see you.   Look, I know things haven’t been easy between you, Cai and Dad . . .”

"We've been loads together, Iolo . . ."

Dani points out that their relationship is different;  “We’ve been through loads together 

". . . and I want to keep it that way"

“and I want to keep it that way,” she says.   

Iolo agrees with that

Iolo in favour of that.

"Am I doing the right thing?"

“Am I doing the right thing, marrying Jinx?” she asks Iolo and he enquires whether he makes her happy, pointing out that is exactly what she needs – a little excitement, a little happiness – and Mimosas.

Gwern is doing some of his own brewing . . .

Gwern is at the brewery, checking the specific gravity of a brew;  as he dips his finger into it to check the taste, 

. . . but tries to hide it

he hears the door open and immediately covers the container.

"What have you got there?"

“What have you got there?” demands Lleucu 

"What are you doing here?"

and he in turn asks what she is doing there.   “I just wanted to check that you’re OK.”

When he answers that he is fine, 

"Why were you in hospital?"

 continues, “You’ve been in hospital, haven’t you?   Why?”

"As if you care!"

“As if you care!” he snarls.   

"Sorry I bothered to ask!"

She tells him to grow up and is sorry that she bothered to ask, then walks out again.

"Where did you get the money?"

At APD, Mathew and Jason are looking at some paperwork;  “Where did you get the money?” Mathew asks, but Jason will not answer, simply pointing out that Mathew has been paid.

"Where's Anita?"

Ieuan walks in, asking if they have a spare fleece;  “Where’s Anita?   Caught the travel bug in Scotland, has she?” Mathew asks.   Ieuan is willing to step in if necessary.

Jason explains his business plan

He is invited to listen to Jason’s business plan;  

"We buy a patch of land"

“The plan is to buy a patch of land between here and Llanarthur, no more than half a mile from where they’re building the dam.   Build a small warehouse or a big shed –  whatever – fill it with gravel and sell it to Quantum – 

"Gravel, Ieuan – chippings"

“gravel, Ieuan – chippings.   We can stock up on all kinds of materials – the point is we shall be on right on their doorstep.   

"Wil Blaenclydwn is the man"

“Wil Blaenclydwen is the man we need to track down – I’m sure he’ll sell us land.”

"Can you be involved, Ieuan?"

Mathew would like Ieuan to be involved in the pitch, but Jason objects, 

"I used to play rugby with him"

stressing that he can talk to Wil, as they are friends and used to play rugby together.

Mathew would rather he took a behind-the-scenes rôle at the moment, “Until there has been more water under the bridge – you’re not surprised, are you – after what you did?”   

Jason takes umbrage

Jason walks off in disgust 

"I'll talk to this Wil"

and Ieuan agrees that he will talk to this Wil.

"We are all right, aren't we?"

Cheryl enters the deli, where Tom is sitting at a table;  he asks if she is OK and she replies, “We are all right, aren’t we?   I don’t know what came over me.”

"I can't believe I survived three-quarters of an episode!"

He tells her not to overthink it, adding, “I can’t believe I survived three-quarters of an episode!”   

"I knew you weren't enjoying it!"

Cheryl knew that he was not enjoying it.   

"That time when I took you to the convention"

“It reminded me of the time I took you to the convention in Sheffield,” he adds.

"Flat white and a cheese roll, please"

Meanwhile, a depressed-looking Jinx has come in and ordered a flat white and a cheese roll;  

Eleri comes in . . .

he looks up to see that Eleri has just arrived.

. . . and then a joyous Dani

She is soon followed by Dani, who appears to be in high spirits, and Iolo;  they have enjoyed their brunch.   Dani tells Jinx, “Iolo has made me realise I deserve to be happy, like, now!   

"Shall we get married on Valentine's Day?"

“There’s no point waiting – shall we get married on Valentine’s Day?”

This attracts Eleri's attention

Eleri looks up from her phone at this 

The 'rabbit caught in the headlights' look

and Jinx himself has the look of a frightened rabbit as Dani asks, “Well?”   

There is a hush of expectation in the deli

All eyes are upon him 

"Why not?   Yes!"

as he hesitates before saying, “Why not?   Yes!” and there is a spontaneous round of applause, 

Eleri is not too impressed

although not particularly heartfelt from Eleri.   Dani maintain that Iolo gave her the idea.

"Congratulations to the happy couple!"

Eleri strolls towards them wishing congratulations to the happy couple.

Cai is at his desk

In the deputy head’s office at the school, 

"What do you want?"

Gwern walks in, demanding, “What do you want?”   Cai suggest that he should go out and try that again.   “Miss Williams said you wanted a word,” Gwern goes on.

"How are things?"

“Thanks for coming – how are things?”   

"You can't be serious"

Gwern cannot believe that he is serious.   Cai continues, “I have a duty to check how you’re doing.”

"You're doing a rubbish job!"

Gwern is unimpressed;  “Well you’re doing a rubbish job of acting as the good guy!”   

"Is there anything the school can do?"

Cai simply wants to know if there is anything they can do to help, as a school.

"You've got my sister's blood on your hands, Mr Rossiter!"

“Can you bring my sister back?   You’ve got Seren’s blood on your hands, Mr Rossiter – and I’ll never forget that!”   

Gwern slams the door

He walks out of the office and slams the door.

"What exactly brought you here today?"

Anita is at her doctor’s appointment;  she is given the good news that her blood pressure is normal and the doctor asks what exactly brought her there today.   

"I don't know where to start"

“I don’t know where to start,” says Anita, “I haven’t been sleeping well for a while now – it’s trouble staying asleep, I think.   I’ve been having these dreams and they’re so real – 

"Nightmares, some of them"

“nightmares, some of them – and when I wake up, it takes a little while to accept that they haven’t really happened.”

"You have had sleeping pills before"

The doctor notes that she has had a prescription for sleeping pills before, but Anita stresses that she has not taken them for quite a while now.   She will be given another course of sleeping pills for a month, see if they help.

"How do you feel during the day?"

“Apart from the sleep, do you feel fine otherwise?   During the day?”   

"I can't concentrate"

Anita replies that she cannot concentrate, which she assumes is caused by the lack of sleep.

"I had an accident a few months ago"

“It happens as you get older, doesn’t it?   And I had an accident a few months ago in the car – no one was injured or anything like that, but I think it was related to the lack of concentration.”   

The doctor is anxious to know whether she hit her head, which Anita denies, but, just to be sure, 

"I'll organise a CT scan"

a CT scan will be organised to make sure there is nothing going on that they are not aware of.   Anita looks rather worried about this.

“Was there anything else?   Any other symptoms that you’re worried about?” the doctor asks, 

"No, there's nothing else"

but Anita refuses to mention anything else, although not looking very convincing.

"I am a lucky woman!"

Eleri is in the Tomos ac Ellis office when Jinx comes in;  “Seeing you twice in one day – I am a lucky woman!” she exclaims and congratulates him again.

"You know I fancy you . . ."

“Hey, you know I fancy you,” he begins, 

". . . but after today, this has to stop, OK?"

“But after today, this has to stop, OK?   Sorry.”   

"That's fair enough"

She appears to regard it as of very little consequence, which comes as somewhat of a surprise to him. 

She casually remarks, as she does to all of her conquests, “You’re not really my type anyway,” 

Jinx laughs

which causes him some amusement.

"Who do you think you are?"

“Who do you think you are?” he demands, as he moves closer to her, then, rather inadvisably, kisses her.   

"Do you really want to do this?"

Eleri asks if he really wants to do this 

It appears that he really does

and, in reply, he does it again.

"What's this big emergency?"

Ieuan is looking very troubled at APD and when Mathew comes in, asks him what the big emergency is.   “A job last week got the wrong tiles and they need the right ones as soon as possible!” Mathew tells him.   Ieuan grumbles that they could have waited for Anita in that case.

"Anita might be ill . . ."

Then he confesses that the real reason he is worried is that Anita might be ill.   “She can’t remember things – she’s imagining things – and hearing things as well.   

". . . she's at an appointment now"

“We don’t know what it is yet – she is at an appointment.”

"There are more important things in life than work . . ."

Mathew appreciates that there are more important things in life than work 

". . . go home now, Ieuan"

and tells him to go home, 

Ieuan wastes no time in doing so

which he immediately does.

"How did the appointment go?"

Kelly comes downstairs to ask Anita how the appointment went;  

"You're supposed to be in Portugal!"

“You’re supposed to be in Portugal!” gasps Anita, but Kelly announces that she is not going.

"I'm staying for as long as you need me!"

She has spoken to Eleri and cancelled the holiday;  “I’m staying for as long as you need me,” she insists, “What did they say?”

Ieuan arrives to get the news

The door bursts open and Ieuan comes in;  he is also surprised to see Kelly, but is told, “I’m not going without knowing my favourite Auntie is all right.”

"She thinks it's lack of sleep"

Anita tells Ieuan, “She said she thinks the lack of sleep is responsible – and she’s the doctor.   She’s put me on sleeping pills for a month.”

"And you told her all the symptoms?"

“And you told her all of your symptoms?” asks Ieuan, to which she replies that of course she did.   Kelly regards this as a good thing and wonders if she said anything else.

“I’m going for a scan in a couple of weeks – just in case,” Anita adds;  both Ieuan and Kelly think that sounds very positive.   

"Pizzas and a film tonight?"

He suggests that they should celebrate, with pizzas and a film tonight.

"Not as exciting as a night in Lisbon"

“Not as exciting as a night in Lisbon – I’m not going to lie,” groans Kelly, “But I’ll take it.”   

Ieuan hugs Anita . . .

Ieuan hugs Anita 

. . . and Kelly joins in

and Kelly joins in.

"It's important to keep moving"

Tom is fussing over Gaynor, telling her that it is important to keep moving to strengthen the muscles.   

"I'm struggling to keep my eyes open"

Gaynor says that she is struggling to keep her eyes open, which is probably caused by the painkillers, 

"The cake was lovely, Cheryl"

“And the cake – but it was lovely!” she tells Cheryl.

“Can I just tell you both how much I appreciate everything – let me say it.   

"You're putting the past behind you for my sake"

“I am aware that you’re doing something very big here – putting the past behind you for my sake.”

"You're the one who's bringing everyone together, Gaynor"

Tom maintains that she is the one who is bringing everyone together and remarks that he and Cheryl had wine last night;  they are friends again.

Lleucu is quieter this time . . .

Lleucu once again comes into the brewery, but more quietly this time, so that Gwern does not hear her.   

. . . and catches him with his home-brew

She finds him stirring his brew;  “I knew I was right earlier,” she says, “That’s home-made beer – I’m not thick!”

"I'm just helping Rhys out"

He maintains that he is just helping Rhys out, 

"Why are you hiding it, then?"

so she wonders, “Why are you hiding it, then?”   

"It's not ready yet"

He warns her not to tell Rhys, as he will probably get sacked and when she wants to try it, he tells her that there is no chance, as it is not ready yet.

"Why have you got the bottles ready to fill, then?"— 17 of them

“So why have you got these bottles ready to fill, then?” is her next question, “You can trust me, you know.”   Gwern has his doubts about that.   

"You hate my Dad, don't you?"

“You hate my Dad, don’t you?” she goes on 

"I hate everyone these days"

and he replies that he hates everyone these days;  he has lost his little sister and Dani is in bits.

"I can't be myself with anyone in the village . . ."

“I can’t be myself with anyone in the village – except, possibly, you.”   

"We will always be mates"

Lleucu knows that they have argued, but stresses that they will always be mates.   “I don’t know if your Dad would be happy about that,” he remarks, “And you’ll have to leave eventually – go to college and things – 

"Everyone leaves me in the end"

“everybody leaves me in the end.”

"Mates for ever – promise!"

She promises that she will not;  “Mates for ever!”

"Things never change"

Gaynor has gone to bed;  Tom comments, “Things never change – eating a cake you gave to someone else.”   Cheryl demands why Tom mentioned that they had wine, 

"We have nothing to hide"

but he argues that they have nothing to hide, 

"There's some icing"

then removes what he says is some icing from her face.

"Can you call me Tom from now on?"

“Can you call me Tom from now on?   A new start and all that – I am a different person – you must be able to see that – it would mean a lot.”   

"All right, I'll try"

Cheryl agrees that she will try to do so.

"I just can't get you out of my head . . ."

He continues to gaze at her;  “I just can’t get you out of my head – 

". . . you've got this power over me"

you’ve got this power over me, like you’ve always had.”   

"It's up to you, Cheryl"

Once again, she kisses him, but then think better of it.   He points out that Gaynor is fast asleep and that it is up to her, 

She appears to have fallen victim to his wiles

so she kisses him again.
