Baby Jac is at the hospital and Sioned wants to go with him, but Howard points out that the doctors have to look at him and suggests that they sit down and wait.

“But I’m his mother!” she protests,

“I just want my baby back!”
Lleucu and her two mates are coming out of the deli; one of them says, “I’m not going back to school now – it’s only ‘Bac’, [Welsh Baccalaureate] isn’t it?”

"Do you know where your passport is?" |
Cai follows Lleucu out and ask her if she knows where her passport is.
“Put it on the table with mine,” he tells her and she is very excited.

"We'll be going sand surfing" |
She insists that she and Twm will be going sand surfing and skiing. Cai realises that this trip is going to cost him a fortune.
“You don’t go to Dubai and not do them!” Lleucu stresses,

"Huwi can stay with us" |
just as DJ comes hurrying past. Cai informs him that SiƓn can pick up Huwi from school and he can stay with them.

"You should be discussing that with Sioned" |
“You should be discussing that with Sioned,” he replies, but Cai did not want to disturb her; he wonders how Jac is. DJ does not know anything about the latest developments,

"Didn't you know? He's in hospital" |
and is told that the child is in hospital,

DJ heads towards the hospital |
so he turns around and rushes off from whence he came.

"Why didn't they tell him?" |
Lleucu cannot understand why they did not tell him.
Now Cai must go, or he will be late for school; he offers his daughter a lift, but she says that she has a free lesson.

She knocks on the door . . . |
As he drives off in the car, she appears to have another reason and knocks on the door of number 9,

. . . and shouts through the letterbox |
then shouts through the letterbox to Gwern, but there is no reply.
Hywel walks past and encounters Ieuan approaching the door of number 7;

"I was up by your mother's house . . ." |
“I was up by your mother’s house earlier – I was meeting Trevor Elfed to discuss the car park costs up near Tan y Bont –

". . . and the back door was wide open" |
“and I noticed that the back door was wide open.”
Ieuan says that he has not been up there since the weekend and the renters were moving out. Hywel had a quick look and closed the door,

but could see that someone has been there. Ieuan will go straight over there now;

"And tell Trefor to pull his finger out!" |
“And tell Trefor to pull his finger out!” is Hywel’s parting comment.

Gwern is not at the MFC flat either |
Lleucu has gone to the MFC flat to see if Gwern is there, but he is not; she explains that she has already tried Jinx’s house.

Britt maintains that he is probably hiding in his bedroom, “Playing a game with his headphones on.”

"And he's not answering my messages" |
Lleucu is concerned that he did not answer her messages either, but Britt points out, “You know what he’s like with that phone – he sees everything, but never answers.

"He'll come back when he's hungry" |
“He’ll come back when he’s hungry – I’ll tell him you called round.”

"Would you mind not telling him?" |
Lleucu is about to leave when she adds, “Actually, would you mind not telling him?”

"You've argued, have you?" |
and Britt suspect that they have argued. Lleucu admits that he is angry with her,

"He's angry a lot these days . . ." |
but it is stressed that he is angry a lot these days.

". . . with everything that's happened" |
Britt is becoming rather emotional, explaining with everything that has happened with his parents and now Seren, she does not know what the future holds for him. “At least, when he was in school, he had some discipline and routine, but now I’m not sure.”

Lleucu admits that this is all her fault.

Britt is soon on the warpath |
Cai is working at his desk when he hears a familiar voice, shouting, “So he’s in here, is he?” and Britt bursts in, followed by Lleucu.
“There he is – you’d better make sure Gwern comes back today or I’m going to phone the Western Post!”
His instruction that she should calm down is completely ignored,

as she rants on, “I know exactly what you’ve done – you’ve thrown Gwern out rather than let your daughter take the blame!”

"That's a big accusation, Britt" |
He replies that she has made a big accusation; “But it’s true, isn’t it?”

"What's going on?" |
Ffion, the headteacher has been attracted by the noise and wants to know what is going on, so Britt turns on her; "Are you part of this as well?"
“Are you part of this as well? She was responsible for the beer drinking – but Gwern got the kick out!”

Lleucu confesses that it is true

"They're blaming Gwern to cover themselves" |
and Britt continues, “Look at them! They’re blaming Gwern to cover themselves –

"I'm going to the authorities!" |
“well, I’m going to the authorities!”

"Dad didn't know anything about it!" |
She is about to storm out of the office when Lleucu stops her; “No – Dad – Mr Rossiter, didn’t know anything about it.”

"Oh yeah!" |
Britt does not believe a word of this, but Lleucu goes on that she lied to him as well.
Ffion urges Britt to leave this to her; “So Gwern can come back to school today and she will be expelled?” is Britt’s demand.

"There will be an internal inquiry" |
“There will be an internal inquiry to check the facts,” Ffion assures her, but Britt knows exactly what that will mean.

"You haven't heard the lest of this!" |
She is adamant that they have not heard the last of this. Lleucu and her father look at each other.

"Miss Rees, can I have a word?" |
At the hospital, a nurse comes in and says, “Miss Rees, can I have a word?”

"What's happened?" |
and then DJ arrives, wanting to know what happened. Howard replies that he is undergoing tests and is sorry for not informing DJ, because they did not have time to think.

"I'm their father!" |
“I’m their father – you should have phoned me!” he snarls,

"Jac has hypothermia!" |
just as Sioned appears, advising that Jac has hypothermia.

"I told you it was too cold" |
“You took them back to the shed, after I told you it was too cold,” DJ reprimands her.

"Stay with Lili" |
She simply turns and goes back to Jac, telling DJ to stay with Lili.

"The boy needs his mother, DJ" |
Howard recommends that DJ should leave her, as the boy needs his mother.

Ieuan arrives at number 7 |
At number 7 Ieuan comes back

"Everything is sorted" |
and reassures Anita that everything is sorted. “I’m so, so sorry, Ieuan,” she wails,

"I should have checked the door" |
“I should have checked the door – I was the last one out.” He appreciates that they were in a hurry and nothing has been stolen so there is no problem.
As he came in through the door, he picked up the post and hands one item to Anita; “It’s from the hospital,”she gasps and he expects that it is a date for the scan. Anita would rather that he opened it.

“It’s next Wednesday,” he announces;

as this is so quick, Anita suspects that there is something seriously wrong, but he points out that the sleeping tablets have helped and she is now feeling more like herself. “Yes, but I did leave the door open in your mother’s house.”

proposes they should go to have some lunch in the Deri,

"I'm not in the mood, Ieuan" |
which does not appeal to her, as she is not in the mood. “Anita, next Wednesday won’t come any sooner if you sit here.”

Ffion comes back to see Cai and declares that she needs time to think;

"You're not going to expect Lleucu?" |
“But you’re not going to expel Lleucu?” demands Cai.

"That's exactly what you wanted for Gwern" |
She reminds him that is exactly what he wanted for Gwern; he supported it 100% then, but Cai maintains that the situation is different, stressing that Gwern had history and was on his final chance.

“This is Lleucu – an A* student,” he adds, but it is pointed out that she has also had a previous offence –
and furthermore, Britt will not let this lie. “Please, don’t be hasty with this, Ffion,” he says.

He is being suspended for a week |
She informs him, “I’m going to ask you to stay away from school this week – I don’t want you here, influencing how we discipline Lleucu. You can come back next week.”

He protests that this makes him look guilty, suggesting he was part of the lies.

Ffion indeed suspects that he may have been; “Did you know?”

"Of course not" |
He denies this, of course, but Ffion has her own ideas.

Anita has been persuaded to come |
Ieuan and Anita have in fact gone to the Deri;

Hywel arrives |
as Hywel comes in, Ieuan decides that he will have the lasagne,

"Did you go up to the house?" |
then Hywel asks him if he went up to the house.

Anita looks guilty |
Anita is looking very guilty, as he is told that everything is still there.

"There was a huge mess there . . ." |
Hywel continues, “I didn’t want to say anything but there was a huge mess there – I can understand why someone would break in to steal – but just to make a mess?”
Now Anita is looking puzzled, as Ieuan says that there was no mess.

“There was all this stuff everywhere,” Hywel points out

"That's all Eunice's rubbish" |
and Anita says that it was all Eunice’s rubbish. This is a sore point with Ieuan, who does not like it being described as rubbish.

Hywel offers to go up there with him to sort it out; “See what you want to keep, sell or throw away. It would be a fresh start – you’d have a bit of room there, now you don’t have tenants. You won’t be in number 7 for ever.”

Ieuan angrily describes everything in that house as being sentimental; “Mami chose them – if they’re important to Mami, they’re important to me.”

Sioned returns to DJ and tells him that Jac is all right; “He’s getting warm and his sugar levels are rising.” This comes as a great relief to DJ,

but he is informed, “You can go now – I’ll stay with Jac and Lili will be fine with me.”

She seems to be quite active at the moment.

DJ does not agree with this, insisting that Lili can come with him, as the hospital is not the best place for her; “What if she catches something? She can come home with me and you can concentrate on Jac.”

Sioned realises that he is talking a lot of sense and agrees, but only until Jac recovers. DJ asks what happened and she does not know; “It’s not like you, Sioned – you put his life in danger.”

She is all too aware of that; “Lili’s safe with you and the doctors will make sure I won’t harm Jac even more!” she snarls.

He points out that he was not saying that, but appreciates that it is a lot for her – and Huwi-John as well. “You’re without your mother and you won’t let anyone help.”

She sighs that she is doing her best and he knows that is true, but wonders if she is all right in herself.

She was like a top this morning and does not look too good now; “I’m just worried about you and the children – have you considered talking to someone?”

“Just look after Lili for me!” she snaps and returns to Jac.

In the Deri, Howard is at the bar when he receives a phone call; “OK, I’ll be there now, no problem,” he says.

Meanwhile, Ieuan is stressing to Anita, “You said you told the doctor everything and she didn’t have any major concerns.”

She simply replies that she is going home.

Hywel comes across and shows Ieuan something on his phone; “A Christmas jumble sale in Llanarthur Hall;

Ieuan is aware that they are raising money for something.

"Well, I've booked you a space" |
“Well, I’ve booked you a space, so you can sort out your mother’s stuff – I can help you.”

This is too much for Ieuan, who exclaims, “Not now, Hywel – all right? If you see an open door that doesn’t belong to you, just leave it!” He also gets up and, after paying for the meal, leaves the Deri.

Lleucu comes downstairs with her passport and, as instructed, puts it on the table with her father’s. There is a knock at the door and she finds that it is Gwern.

His reason is that he has been busy

He picks up Cai’s passport and is amused by the photograph.

When the front door suddenly opens, he slips the passport into his pocket.

Cai is outraged to see him there; “Out – you’re not welcome here!” he growls, “Do you know how much trouble you’ve caused me today?”

Gwern insists that Lleucu only told the truth, but is again told to get out.

Lleucu protests that he has no right to throw out Gwern,

but she is warned, “If you want to go to Dubai, you’d better listen to me!” Lleucu storms off upstairs in a rage.

“You don’t have to sort that stuff out unless you want to,” Hywel goes on, but is told that is not the problem.

Hywel asks if they have any idea what is causing it and is told that she is having a scan next week.

Ieuan is doing his best to stay positive; “And I’m hassling you about your mother’s stuff?” says Hywel.

That is not why Ieuan is there; “If . . . say that this scan shows . . . well, I don’t see us staying in number 7. So if we can sort out Mami’s house as soon as possible . . .”
Hywel realises that the timing of the jumble sale in Llanarthur was indeed so convenient;

“Sioned!” he scolds her, “You’re already outnumbered. Is there any treatment?” She will be going to talk to the GP and then go from there. “Is there anything you want me to do?” he enquires.

“What – on top of everything you’re already doing on the farm?” He hopes that he will be getting paid for that; she assures him that of course he is.

He takes the passport from his pocket and wields the scissors in a menacing fashion,
