A taxi has arrived outside number 9 and Gwern is greeting Dani; Gabriel does not seem to be very interested. Jinx is coming along the street;

“Hey – I wasn’t expecting to welcome you home yet,” he says and she answers that they caught an early bus as they wanted to give him a surprise; they have a present for him.

He thanks Gabriel for the present and Dani would like Jinx to take her to Swansea later as she has loads of shopping to do.

Gwern interrupts, “Jinx has already bought your present,” and Dani wants to know what it is,

but Jinx is not telling.
“So can you take me? We can talk about the wedding,” she continues and he notices that she has done something to her hair.

At Penrhewl, Howard finds that Sioned has put up the Christmas tree; “Sorry, but I think I’m in the wrong place – I was looking for Scrooge’s home,” he comments.

She answers that it is better late than never and hopes that the turkey defrosts in time. He assumes that the large turkey is for Instagram purposes;

Sioned had been hoping that she might have a bit of company tomorrow,

but as he is calling in tomorrow to feed the stock, he might as well stay for lunch.

“Great – you can cook it, then!” she announces, “Come on – I’ll be busy with the little ones – don’t worry, I’ll find you a lovely recipe.” Howard does not appear very pleased with this prospect.

Danny is showing Jinx some photos on her phone; “Wow – it looks like something out of a magazine,” he says, “So does getting married there cost as much as the ones in the magazine?”
She indicates that it does, recalling that she met Mark there and he said that Dyff would give them mates’ rates.

“So I’ve already paid half with the money we were saving to buy a car, as a deposit.” This is where Jinx calls a halt to this conversation, demanding exactly how much they are talking about.

Gwern interrupts to ask, “Come on, Jinx, don’t you want to make Dani happy?” Dani predicts that the photos and memories will be worth it; she promises that he will not regret it.

In the Deri, both Cassie and Mark are keeping a careful eye on Tom and Cheryl;

“What are you doing, thinking of serving him?” Cassie snarls. Cheryl is quite prepared to leave,

but Mark says Tom is celebrating good news, apparently.

Tom proudly announces, “We won’t be round the place for much longer, because we’re going home, back to Wrexham.”

Cassie and Mark look at each other, stunned, as Tom explains further, “We’ve got a flat there – we’re leaving on Boxing Day – Cher’s got a job lined up.”

Cassie cannot believe that Cheryl honestly wants to go,

but she replies that she does; in fact, she cannot wait to go home. Cassie is by no means convinced by this –

DJ arrives at Penrhewl with some parcels in his hand; “You can open these now if you want,” he tells Sioned, who has been making mince pies.

“I saw the sign above Tamed,” he begins, but she warns him not to start, stressing that she does not need permission. He simply looks upon it as the end of an era and asks if she has any plans for tomorrow;

“To keep tabs on me, is it? In case you have to call Social Services again? Come on – who else would do such a thing?”

DJ imagines that they just popped over after what happened.

Howard walks in and asks if everything is all right;

“She thinks I phoned Social Services,” DJ informs him.

“And you think you’re going to be invited over for Christmas dinner!” Sioned snarls, as DJ insists that it was not him;

he would not do that to her. “Just go, DJ!” she shouts, but he maintains that he has the right to see his own children on Christmas Day.

“That’s exactly why I don’t want you here tomorrow – I don’t want this toxic atmosphere around them on their first Christmas!” Even when DJ begs her, Sioned’s answer is the same; “Thank you for the presents, but you can go now.”

He has no alternative but to leave and Howard looks very worried.

“Lunch is at 4 o’clock tomorrow – we are having it in the Deri, so that everyone can sit round the same table,” Hywel tells Gaynor,

and she wonders who ‘everyone’ includes.

“Well, Ieuan has invited himself – so Kelly and Anita will probably be there.”

Gaynor smiles, “Of course, Christmas with your brother, Ieuan Griffiths! Who would have thought it?” He agrees that it is a strange world. Gaynor is confident that it will be better than last year, with Cheryl and Mark.

This conveniently leads into Hywel enquiring whether she has had the results of the DNA test yet; “No, not yet – are you sure they’re legitimate?

This surprises Hywel, as he received his results fairly quickly; he asks if she has checked her junk mail and thinks that she may have to phone them when everyone’s back at work.

Dani walks towards MFC and we can see in the background that Gwern is helping to unload Iolo’s van. Britt points out that it is a way of keeping him out of trouble after the fiasco at school.

Hywel takes the potato peelings out to the garden and Gaynor receives a text message; when he returns, he asks what the message says.

DJ is looking through some boxes at APD when Howard calls to him and DJ asks whether the twins are all right. “Come to rub it in that you’ll be with the kids over Christmas, have you?”
On the contrary, Howard says that he will be on his own as well tomorrow.

Mark has again gone to Maes-y-Deri with a little gift for Cheryl, but she is afraid that she has nothing to give to him and thinks that he should go now, “Because we’ve got a lot to do before leaving.” He demands whether she really wants to go and she unconvincingly says that she does.

She immediately knows he is speaking of DJ.

Cheryl denies that she is hiding anything – she insists that she got those letters from her mother’s house, the ones Gaynor sent.

Tom is coming downstairs and listens to their argument.

“Do you expect me to believe that?” shrieks Gaynor, “Perhaps you knew Elsie somehow – perhaps you stole the letters and you’re pretending to be her!”

Cheryl tries to convince her that she is wrong, but according to Gaynor, it makes sense; “After you hit him over the head, you were on the run, weren’t you? And I was the mug – desperate for a family . . .”
Cheryl insists that she is in fact Gaynor’s sister;

it appears that Tom is worried about this interruption to his plan. “The result must be wrong!”

Gaynor was so happy to have a sister that she believed the lies. Cheryl insists that Gaynor is the best thing that has ever happened to her;

Tom intervenes to tell Gaynor that she cannot upset Cheryl like this and wants her to leave straightaway.
