“Well, that’s fantastic!” exclaims Gaynor, “Why isn’t he coming?” Cheryl realises that her statement has been misconstrued.

She points out, “Sorry, Gaynor – the break is for him and me.” She offers to cancel it;

“I don’t want to leave you here on your own.”

Gaynor maintains that she does not need a babysitter and urges Cheryl to go.

Dani opens the door of number 7 to admit Jinx; “Are you all right?” he asks,

As Kath brings over his breakfast he adds, “She’s been through hell – think about it – she could have been jailed for years for something she didn’t do.”
Kath can appreciate what that is like, after Mark was wrongly accused.

Brynmor could get used to this sort of treatment, but is warned, “Once this jet-lag has passed, you’re down behind that bar, good boy.”

He is looking forward to the idea of the two of them running their own business at last.

She gathers from this that he is not going back to New York

Just then, Eleri comes in, checking her watch and reports that she has completed a quick 10km. She goes straight to the fridge and helps herself to some water

as Kath says that she has difficulty going 10 steps, so is advised that the trick is to start slowly and build up. Eleri is now going for shower.

Kath announces that there are bacon, eggs, sausages and cereal for breakfast,

but Eleri does not want to undo the run and cautions her father against all those refined carbs and fat.

“I made him egg-white omelettes with herbs and spinach.” (but surprisingly she does not use the Welsh word ‘sbigoglys’)

She would like a cup of coffee, but her father points out that there is only instant, so she proposes to go to the nearest deli. Kath is becoming tired of this already and remarks, “There’s ‘Tamed’ across the road –

Brynmor apologises that Eleri can be a straight talker, but does not mean to be sharp.

Mark and Cheryl have reached the Gower, and Cheryl, stretched out on the bed, says that the place is lovely.

“Hey, did you know there’s a spa here?” He informs her that she is not going to book anything

because everything is already sorted. She wonders how much he has spent.

“I know you don’t like me spending money on you, but please, I just want to treat you – and I’ve been saving up for a while,” he answers.

“Right, surprise number one.” He produces a wetsuit and hopes that she can swim.

Kelly has turned up at Deri Fawr and Howard enquires whether she has a gun this time;

“I’m here purely on behalf of Tomos ac Ellis – I tried phoning,” she says

"So there's a buyer?" |
and he imagines that there is a buyer.
“No – I need to take some new photos because the ones we’ve got . . . don’t do the place justice.”

As they look at each other, Kelly suggests, “I think you need to have a tidy up first.”

“Don’t let me stop you,” he remarks, “You want to sell the place, not me. I heard you were the talk of the town.”

Kelly ignores this, suggesting that he could put his dirty clothes in one pile and she will hang up the rest.

She notices the dog again, as Howard mentions what they are calling Kelly,

Kelly is making no promises, but asks what he wants.

“This contract I’ve got with Eileen – would you read it? I have no idea what I’ve agreed to,” admits Howard.

As they return from their swim, Mark says that Cheryl was really good; Are you sure, you haven’t done it before?” She replies that she does not think that falling into the water is ‘really good’,

“It’s lovely here, isn’t it?” she goes on and Mark says that he was going to leave this until tonight, when he has booked a table in the restaurant, which is supposed to be great and the chef is well-known.
He takes out a small box from his pocket and gives it to her;

and here she laughs, “She’s going to take a percentage of your wages because she says she's teaching you new agricultural skills – wow! She did something similar to Colin.”

Howard sighs that he trusted her and,

grabbing the contract, vows that she will not get away with this. Kelly demands where he is going;

“Haven’t you learned anything?” asks Kelly, “You can’t just charge in there, all guns blazing – you’ve got to be much more clever!”

He seems to be puzzled.

As they look at the menu, Kath tells Brynmor, “Cassie thinks we should be offering more vegetarian stuff.”

Eleri comes downstairs and declares, “This place is so . . . gosh, it’s so . . . it really suits Cwmderi.

“Anyway, a little something to say thank you,” and she hands a bag to Kath, which contains a designer handbag.

“Oh, it’s beautiful – look at it!” she tells Brynmor,

Kath's hug is rebuffed |
and she attempts once again to hug Eleri.

“There’s no need for a hug – your face says it all,” she is told, as Eleri backs away. Then she wants to know where they are going for lunch and Kath invites her to eat there

She peruses the menu, then after a few comments, like, “Ooh,” and, “Gosh,”

Brynmor points out that she is rather fussy with her food, something which Kath had already gathered.

Mark sits alone in the hotel bedroom when there is a knock the door and he discovers that it is Gaynor, who he contacted;

“Thanks for coming – I didn’t know what else do,” he says, “There’s no sign of her – and she’s been missing for hours – she’s not answering her phone.”

Gaynor wants to know exactly what happened, but he does not know; they have not argued.

“So she just stormed off without reason?” asks Gaynor.

“I told her I love her – obviously she doesn’t love me – that’s what this is about. I gave her a present – a necklace with a heart – it cost me a fortune, just like this room – and it’s all gone to waste now!”

Gaynor will now go and look for her.

At Deri Fawr, Howard explains, “Look, I don’t have any more money to pay for vet’s bills.”

Kelly thinks she may know of a dog sanctuary which rescues retired hunting dogs,

but he wonders how they will take the dogs there without Eileen realising it.

“We?” says Kelly, “I’m not helping you.” Howard asks if she will be happy to see those dogs suffer, and was under the impression that fighting for justice was her ‘thing’.

“Come on, Kelly – I thought there was more fire in your belly – this is your chance to do something good, after everything. Look, I want my revenge on Eileen and you want to rescue the dogs.

“If we don’t do anything, Eileen’s got free rein to do whatever she likes – who knows what else she’s got going on? What do you say?”

Mark sits dolefully at the restaurant table and looks at his watch

as Gaynor returns, having not been able to find Cheryl anywhere. She has searched the place from top to bottom.

The waitress arrives with two menus, but Gaynor protests that she is not staying.

Mark tells her that she might as well sit down; “Cheryl obviously isn’t coming – she’s an adult, Gaynor – she doesn’t want to be found.

“I’ve paid for the food, so, please, sit down.”

"I can't do this any longer, Gaynor . . ." |
Mark sighs that he cannot do this any longer; “This is the second time she’s done it – getting upset, not saying why and then ignoring me.

Gaynor is sure that she will come to her senses,

but Mark says it is too late; he has been trying his best and she makes him feel as if he cannot do anything right.

Dani replies that she does and agrees that he is nothing like Garry.

Jinx assures Dani that he would never do anything to hurt her, which she already knows,

“Do you still want me to live with you?” she asks and he replies that he does;

and they hug, emphasising the difference in their heights.

Now a bottle of champagne has arrived |
As they sit at the restaurant, Gaynor and Mark are brought a bottle of champagne; “Do you want some? I’ve paid for it,” he asks.

She says that it would be rude to refuse, adding that the way they have decorated the table is lovely;

Mark hopes that she is hungry because he has ordered the taster menu; Gaynor is sorry that this has happened to him, but is sure that they will patch things up.

Gaynor suggests that they do not mention Cheryl any more and just enjoy the gorgeous food;

In the Deri, Brynmor takes drinks to the table; “Kath was so pleased to meet you at last,” he tells Eleri, who is looking at her iPad, “She’s really enjoying having you here,” he adds.

Her father points out that they are happy together, Kath has a big heart and makes him laugh; he is looking forward to making a go of this place together.
She laughs dismissively and Brynmor says that she is exactly like her mother sometimes.

He urges her to give the place a chance, but she insists, “You’ve thrown your money away!”

Kath is coming over to join them and hands Eleri a packet of crisps; “Before you say anything, they’re baked, half the calories,” she mutters.

Two-faced Eleri says, “I was just telling Dad how much I like this place – there’s a lot of potential.” Kath is pleased to hear this; she and Brynmor are willing to listen to any ideas.

He agrees that his daughter is full of ideas.
The two of them are very pleased to be back together, but Eleri seems to be less so.

Gaynor is now rather full and asks how many courses they have had; Mark thinks that it is eight, and she adds, “The food is amazing!”

At that moment Cheryl reappears and Mark asks where she has been;

“In the pub down the road,” she replies, demanding why her sister is there.
“I came to help Mark look for you,” Gaynor replies;

Cheryl sneers that they are not looking very hard,

and Mark points out that they have been looking all afternoon.

“You say that you love me – and when I turn my back for two minutes, you try it on with my sister! I thought you were a good man, Mark, but you’re just like the rest – treating me like rubbish!

“You don’t want to be with me.”

"This is the thanks I get?" |
Mark tries to argue with her and asks why she ran away; “I’ve organised this for you and this is the thanks I get?”

Gaynor adds that there is nothing going on between them – they have been worried about her.

“Neither of you are worried about me!” she rages as she walks out.

a man with a guitar arrives at the table to serenade them, and Mark groans that he had forgotten he had organised this as well.
