6 March 2024

Underwear strewn across the street . . .

The camera scans along the street past the shop, where various items of clothing have been scattered.

. . . which Rhys recognises

Rhys looks with horror as he emerges from the alley and begins to pick everything up.

Jason is passing and asks if they are Rhys’ clothes,

"They're your pants, then!|

laughing, “They’re your pants, then!”   Rhys had asked Mathew to give them to Anita to wash at APD

"I deserve compensation!"

and maintains that he deserves compensation.   “What for?” Jason demands.

“Because everyone in Cwmderi has seen my pants now!” rages Rhys

"We'll wash the for free"

and is told by Jason that if he brings them over to APD, they will be washed for free.

"What's going on?"

Jinx comes out of his house and wonders what is going on;  “I thought I heard some boys messing around out here last night.”   He follows Jason towards APD and wishes him good morning.

"It was until you turned up!"

“It was until you turned up!” Jason snarls.

"We should at least be civil"

Jinx regards this as silly, maintaining that they should at least be able to be civil with each other.

"Like you were when you grabbed me?"

“Like you were when you grabbed me in the spa, is it?” Jason growls

"Yes, I'm sorry for that"

and Jinx apologises for that;  he just wants to put all this bad feeling behind them, as they live in the same village and their businesses are right next door to each other.

"I'm willing to forgive you"

“Look, I’m willing to forgive you for that Rohypnol business if you’re willing to make an effort,” Jinx proposes, but Jason appears to be in no mood to agree to this.

"Forgive me?"

“You’re willing to forgive me?”   Jinx says that there is no point in making life difficult for each other.   “So all we have to do is forgive each other, forget everything and move on – after what you did to me?”

"Do it for Kelly's sake"

Jinx urges him to do it for Kelly’s sake.

"Don't you dare tell me what's best for Kelly!"

“Don’t you dare try to tell me what’s best for Kelly!” Jason warns him, “All you’ve done is chase Kelly since you got back here – forgive?

"I don't think so, sunshine!"

“I don’t think so, sunshine!”

Eileen has made fancy cupcakes

At Penrhewl, Eileen is putting the finishing touches to some rather extravagant cupcakes and informs Sioned that this is an order for Delyth and Maya.

"An engagement present"

Sioned wonders what is the occasion and is told, “Gaynor bought them as an engagement present.”

This is a shock to Sioned

Sioned is very surprised to hear that they are engaged, but says that it is lovely news.

"But it's not natural, is it?"

Her mother comments, But it’s not natural, is it?   Still, if that’s what they want.   Can you take them over – I have to go to Carmarthen?   See you later.”

Sioned is in a quandary

Sioned finds herself in a rather an awkward position here.

Jinx has gone home

Jinx arrives back at number 9 and Dani comes downstairs, remarking that he is back early;

"What's wrong, Jinx?"

he has flopped down on the sofa, so she asks what is wrong,

"Jason – he won't talk to me . . ."

“Jason,” is the single word answer, “He won’t talk to me – we can’t avoid each other

". . . I was hoping to put everything behind us"

“and I was hoping to put everything behind us.”

"You have to stop this nonsense, Jinx"

Dani insists that he has to stop this nonsense, or it is going to make him miserable;

"You know what to do"

“If you want to put a stop to it, you know what to do.”

Iolo comes downstairs

Siôn is clearing the breakfast table when Iolo comes downstairs with a basket of laundry;

"Did you ask Greta?"

“Did you ask Greta about Aberystwyth?” his father wants to know.

"Yes – and we're still going"

“Yes – and we’re still going,” is Iolo’s reply.   Siôn is anxious that Greta understood what he was asking and is told, “I know how to talk to my daughter, Dad!   She said that she does not want to go to Aber . . .”

"That means you shouldn't go"

Before he can say anything else, Siôn stresses that should mean they do not go;  “Look, Dad, a five-year-old child can’t decide something like this,” Iolo points out, but it is emphasised that her feelings have to be considered (particularly when they concur with his wishes).

"I don't have to do anything  – all right?"

“I don’t have to do anything – all right?” says Iolo.

Maya arrives at the farm . . .

Sioned has invited Maya to come over to the farm;

. . . and is presented with the cakes

“I just wanted to give you these,” she announces, “From Gaynor – congratulations.”   Maya confesses that she is still in shock,

"There's no champagne here"

and Sioned tries to look sincere as she says she is very happy for them.   “We should celebrate, but there’s no champagne here – a cup of tea’s not quite the same, is it?”

"Do you fancy a cupcake?"

“It sounds fine to me – and do you fancy a cupcake?   They look very tasty,” Maya tells her.   Sioned maintains that they are for her and Delyth.

"She won't notice if one or two go missing"

“She won’t notice if one or two go missing,” Maya replies.

"Come to apologise, have you?"

Rhys has just finished his meal in the Deri when Anita comes in;  “You’ve come to apologise, have you?   For showing everyone my pants?   Mathew gave you my dirty clothes yesterday and they were all over the High Street this morning.”

"I left them on your doorstep last night"

“I left them on your doorstep last night – because no-one was answering and I thought you needed clean pants!” she exclaims.

"And now they're dirtier than ever!"

He points out that thanks to her, they are now dirtier than when they got them yesterday, after some kids had fun throwing them all over the street.

"I texted to tell you"

“Well, I texted you to say I’d left them outside the door,” she insists and he vehemently denies this.   “Are you calling me a liar?” she demands and he makes it clear that is exactly what he is saying.

"I'm not going to stay here and be accused"

“I’m not going to stay here and be accused of more petty crimes!” she rants and immediately walks out,

Cai goes over to see Iolo

just as Cai comes in.

"Then Deri is better than 'Y Cwps'!"

“The Deri is better than ‘Y Cwps’!” he comments to Iolo, who is sitting alone.  [‘Y Cwps’ – The Cooper’s Arms in Aberystwyth, where the Comedy Festival is held]   “I’ve heard that Greta wants to stay.”

"I'm not escaping"

He sits down opposite Iolo and continues, “When are you going to stop trying to escape?”   Iolo explains that he is not escaping,

"That's all you've done since losing Tyler"

but Cai points out, “That’s all you have done since losing Tyler – you can’t do it for ever  – a time comes when you have to face the grief.”

Iolo maintains that he is facing it every day, but Cai disagrees,

"Now you're packing up and moving"

maintaining that Iolo always finds a way to take his mind off his loss.   “At the start you were addicted to social media, then the pills and now youre packing up and moving.

"It doesn't matter where you go, Iols"

“It doesn’t matter where you go, Iols – grief will follow you –

"It's time to stop running"

“and it’s time to stop running.”

"I'm not supposed to see you"

There is a knock at the door of Bryntirion and Kelly finds Jinx there;  “I’m not supposed to see you,” she tells him, but Jinx needs to talk to her.

"Jason's determined to drive me out"

“I’m here because of Jason – right?   He’s determined to drive me out of the village.”

"I'll have a word with him"

Kelly agrees that she will talk to him,

"That won't change anything"

but he insists that will not change anything;  “I just want to move on.”

"How has this come up all of a sudden, Jinx?"

“How has this come up all of a sudden, Jinx?” she demands.

“Because I tried to talk to him again to sort this out, but he just wants to make things more difficult for me –

"Dani wants me to go to the police"

“Dani wants me to go to the police.”

"Oh, come on, Jinx!"

“Oh, come on, Jinx!” Kelly exclaims, “He’s not threatening you that badly,” but he enlightens her that it is about the Rohypnol business, where Jason tried to frame him;  he had no choice but to tell Dani about it.

"If that's what you want – I won't stop you"

“OK – if that’s what you want to do – I won’t stop you,” she agrees.

"Is DJ missing the farm?"

At Penrhewl, Sioned brings Maya her cup of tea;  “Is DJ missing the farm?” Maya asks,

"He enjoys working at 'Tamed"'

and is told that he enjoys working at ‘Tamed’ as well.   “Have you always liked strong farmers like DJ?” is the next question, and Sioned maintains that they are usually a bit of a disappointment.

"Is DJ  the right one for you?"

“And is DJ the right one for you?” Maya enquires.

"Don't rush into getting married"

Sioned does not answer but advises Maya not to rush into getting married, as it is not always the best option.

"Is that why you and DJ aren't married?"

“Is that why you and DJ are not married?”

"He went off with another woman"

“No, we were supposed to get married – but he went off with another woman,” says Sioned.

"What a 'twpsyn'!"

Maya describes him as an absolute ‘twpsyn[idiot];  “Are you sure you want to start a family with him?   After he did that to you?”

"Everyone makes mistakes"

Sioned replies that everyone makes mistakes.

"How could you take him back?"

“But how could you take him back after he chose someone else?”   Sioned explains that things were complicated, but is told that there is nothing complicated about it;  “He doesn’t know how lucky he is to be with you.”   Sioned says nothing.

Rhys comes for his laundry

Rhys walks into APD and asks if his clothes are ready yet;

"Sorry, they're not ready yet"

Jason is sorry that they are not.   “Anita denies that it was her fault!” complains Rhys and is assured that it will not happen again;  his clothes will be ready at the end of the day.

Kelly creeps quietly in

Then Jason is surprised to see Kelly creeping in, she wants a quiet word with him and he wonders if she is all right.

"Jinx is thinking of going to the cops"

“Jinx is thinking of going to the cops,” she begins, “About the Rohypnol.”

"Right, I'll sort this out"

Jason maintains that he is going to sort this out now, but she stops him,

"That will only make things worse"

warning that it will only make things worse.

"I'll say it's my fault, OK?"

“If he goes to the cops, I’ll say it’s my fault, OK?”

Iolo explains to Cai, “It’s different to when I lost my Mam.”

"You have to help Greta with her grief as well"

Cai appreciates that, as now he is an adult and has to help Greta with her grief as well.

"She's dealing with it better than me"

“She seems to be dealing with it better than me,” Iolo groans, but is assured that things will get better with time.   Cai adds that running away is not the answer;

"It will be easier if you stay here"

it will be easier if he stays there with his father and Cai – and his friends.

"And the memories"

“And the memories,” says Iolo.

“The memories of Tyler don’t have to be painful, do they?   A time will come when you can remember things with a smile – you must smile sometimes when you think of your Mam.

"What would Tyler want?"

“What would Tyler want?   Would he want you to be heartbroken – or for you to create new memories with Greta?”

"We deny everything, Kelly"

Outside the back of APD, Jason advises, “If the police turn up asking questions, we deny everything.”

"I've deceived too many already"

Kelly stresses that she cannot do that because she has already deceived too many people.   “So you’re happy to go to jail, are you?” he demands.

"If that's what I deserve"

“If that’s what I deserve!”

"You've pun shed yourself enough already"

Jason insists that Kelly has punished herself enough already and begs her not to let the police do the same.   As she is about to walk away, he asks where she is going.

“There’s nothing else to say, OK?   Just wait until the cops come,”

Kelly walks away

and she walks off round the corner, leaving Jason standing openmouthed.

"Are you ready to tell your father"

Cai and Iolo return to Y Felin:  “Are you ready to tell your father?” Cai asks.

"We'e not going to Aber"

When Siôn walks in, Iolo informs him, “We’re not going – I’ve changed my mind.”

"I'm sure it's for the best"

His father is very pleased to hear this and is sure that it is for the best.

"We're going to Ecuador!"

However, Iolo continues, “But Greta and I are going away – just not to Aberystwyth – to Ecuador!   To travel – since doing this school project with Greta, she’s been saying she wants to go – and I need the break.”

"Some quality time together"

Cai comments that he is going to create new memories with Greta;  “Yes, spend some quality time together – especially after the last year,” Iolo adds.

"I think it's a good idea"

Cai thinks that it is a good idea, but, by the look on Siôn’s face, he strongly disagrees.   Iolo is anxious to go upstairs to tell Greta.

"Do you really think it's a good idea?"

“Do you really think it’s a good idea?” Siôn demands

"I do"

and when Cai nods his head,

"As long as he doesn't stay there"

he adds, “As long as he doesn’t stay there.”

"If you're here to have another go at Jinx . . ."

There is something of a stand-off at number 9;  “If you’re here to have another go at Jinx, you can just go!” says Dani,

"I just want to talk"

but Jason insists that he just wants to talk.

There is a knock at the door and they are joined by Kelly

"What's going on?"

who tells them, “Jason texted me to come here – what’s going on?”

"I want us to sort this out"

Jason wanted everyone to be in the same place so they can sort this out.

"You've changed your tune"

“You’ve changed your tune since earlier,” Dani observes

"I'm sorry I put the Rohypnol in your pocket"

and Jason apologises for putting the Rohypnol in Jinx’s pocket;  he hopes that they can sort this out without going to the police.

"How did you know he was going to the police?"

“How did you know he was going to the police?” demands Dani

"I told Kelly"

and it is revealed that Jinx told Kelly.

"I'm willing to be more civil"

“I’m willing to be more civil when we see each other from now on – that’s what you want, isn’t it?” Jason goes on, but Jinx accuses him of saying that simply to prevent him going to the police.   “Yes – but I do mean it, honestly,” vows Jason, “I won’t hassle you every time I see you, all right?”

"Jinx could have been charged with terrible things!"

Dani is not happy with this;  “Hold on – Jinx could have been charged with terrible things!”

"Things went way too far!"

Kelly stops her there;  “Yes, and I’m really sorry – things went way too far!”

"So we'll just forget about it, shall we?"

“OK – so we’ll just forget about it carry on as normal, shall we?” demands Dani.   Kelly insists that she is never going to forget about what she did.   “And what about Rhys and Cheryl?” Dani asks.

"None of your business, Dani!"

“With all due respect, Dani – none of your business!”   Dani is adamant that it is her business if Jinx is dragged into the mess.

"In thought we were beginning to understand each other"

Jason had thought that they were beginning to understand each other.

"I'll never understand why Kelly was stupid enough . . "

“I’ll never understand why Kelly was stupid enough . . .” snarls Dani,

"Leave the past where it belongs, Dani"

but Jinx urges her to stop and leave the past where it belongs.

"I didn't mean to pry"

At Penrhewl, Maya is sorry if she overstepped the mark;  “I didn’t mean to pry into your relationship with DJ.”

"Perhaps both of us deserve better"

Sioned suggests that perhaps both of them deserve better;  “I’ve heard the way Delyth speaks to you sometimes.”

"That's what she's like when she's angry"

Maya appreciates that is what she is usually like when she is angry.

"You sure you want to spend the rest of your life with her?"

“Are you sure you want to spend the rest of your life with her?”

"Why did you kiss me, then?"

Maya thinks so, but is told that she needs to be sure; “Why did you kiss me, then?” Sioned asks.

"I thought you wanted to forget about that"

Maya was under the impression she wanted to forget about that, but they have both tried to do so – and failed.

"Do you still think it was a mistake?"

“Do you still think it was a mistake?” Maya wants to know and Sioned does not know.

"It's bee going round and round in my head"

“It’s been going round and round in my head since it happened,” she says, and the same thing has happened to Maya.   “It’s hard to describe the way I feel when I’m with you,” Sioned continues.

Maya senses that there is something there and that she is not imagining it;  “I like being around you.”

They kiss – .and at that exact moment . . .

They look into each other’s eyes and inevitably kiss,

. . . the door opens

at which point the door opens and Eileen walks in.

Maya flees from the farm

“What are you doing?   What’s going on?” she demands;  Maya grabs her coat and makes a very hurried exit.

"Sioned, I want to talk to you!"

As Eileen shouts, “Sioned, I want to talk to you,” she also rushes out.

This is extremely troubling

Eileen is left dumbfounded.

Anita hurries into the Deri

Anita comes into the Deri, carrying Rhys’ washing which she has collected from APD;  “And I’ve ironed them for you as well.”

"Why would you do that if it wasn't your fault?"

Rhys wonders why she would do that if it was not her fault

"I thought I texted you . . ."

and she reveals that she thought she had texted him;  “It’s easy to make mistakes –

". . . I'm up to here with things"

“I’m up to here with things,” and she hurriedly leaves again.

"At least I've got clean pants now"

“At least I’ve got clean pants now,” Rhys sighs.

"Don't tell me you saw my pants, too"

As he walks towards the door he notices Dani sitting at a table.   “Don’t tell me you saw my pants, too – isn’t that why you look so glum?”

"I know who 'spiked' you"

She jumps up from the table;  “Rhys, I’ve got something to tell you – I’m sorry to be the one to tell you, but I know who ‘spiked’ you.”

Rhys is astounded

He looks at her, stunned.
