Yvonne muses over breakfast

As she spreads jam on her toast, Yvonne remarks, “It’s strange to think how many breakfasts I shared with Gwyneth in this room – and Gwern when he was young – you, too.”

"A lot has happened since then"

Jinx is eating his cereal and says a lot has happened since then;  “I can’t believe what has happened to Gwern,” she adds,

"I hardly knew Gwyneth, from what I hear"

“And I hardly knew Gwyneth, from the stories I hear about her.”

"It's very disappointing"

He agrees that it is very disappointing, realising that you do not know someone as well as you thought you did.

"Do you think what I did had an effect?"

“Do you think what I did had an effect on her?” Yvonne asks, and he considers that it certainly did not help things.   Now he is leaving and asks what are her plans for the day.

"I was half hoping to stay here"

“I was half hoping to stay here – I’m not sure I’m ready to face the village yet,” she groans.

"Work this morning"

He has work this morning, then lunch with Dani and straight to the pizzas.   She had been thinking of making lunch or something to thank him for letting her stay;

"Perhaps tomorrow"

“Perhaps tomorrow.”

Yvonne picks up her phone

As soon as he has gone, she picks up her phone and dials a number.

"Do you want to talk?"

Delyth and Maya having breakfast in the pharmacy flat;  “Do you want to talk?’ asks Maya, but then a text arrives on Delyth’s phone.

"Britt shut the door in Yvonne's face"

“Britt shut the door in Yvonne’s face last night,” Maya continues.

"Perhaps she doesn't want to speak to her"

“Perhaps she doesn’t want to speak to her,” snaps Delyth, “I have only spoken to her at the interview.”

"Where has she been, all these years?"

Maya is eager to learn where she has been all these years, but Delyth is very reluctant to talk about the subject, maintaining that it is confidential.

"We're all ready for the inventory"

At APD, everything is ready for the inventory;  Anita has made a cup of tea for Jason,

"Have you heard about last night?"

while Mathew shares the latest gossip with him;  “Have you heard about last night?”

"Cwmderi is turning into The Walking Dead!"

“Yes, Cwmderi is turning into The Walking Dead!” Jason replies,

"How can we help you, Megan?"

but at that moment Megan arrives in the shop and they ask how they can help.

"You can clear the boxes from the Chapel bins!"

“Well you can clear the boxes from the Chapel’s bins as as soon as possible,” she instructs them.

"I have the number of a clearance company"

Jason has the number of a clearance company, but she insists, “Your boxes are not their problem, are they?   One of the members saw an APD van by the Chapel’s bins last week.”

"No-one from APD would do that"

Jason protests that no-one from APD would dump rubbish at the chapel, so she demands what their van was doing there.   He is sure that there must have been a misunderstanding;

"I'll go and take a look"

Mathew will go and take a look to see what is going on.

Jinx waits patiently . . .

Jinx has actually gone to the first of Gaynor’s counselling sessions;

. . . but Gaynor does not know where to start

she does not know how to start, so he prompts, “Was there something specific you wanted to discuss today?

"There must be a reason why you contacted me"

“There must be a reason why you contacted me.”

"People say that I'm . . . drinking more"

She agrees and says that a few people have remarked recently that she is . . . drinking more.

"Do you think that you are?"

He enquires whether she thinks that she is, and she does not.

"I have done a few silly things recently"

“But I have done a few silly things recently – things I regret.”

"What did you think you would get out of this session?"

He imagines that this may be after she has been drinking;  he invites her to talk about it, but she is very reluctant.   “What did you think you would get out of today’s session?” he wonders.

"It might have been a mistake to ask you to come over"

She is not sure of the answer to that, and says that it might have been a mistake to ask him to come over.   “Well, you’ve paid for an hour, so we might as well discuss something.   When was the last time you had a drink?”

"After that drama with Yvonne"

She admits that it was yesterday, after all the drama with Yvonne, so he asks when was the previous time.   “Well, I almost had a drink before the service, to be honest – I thought it would help with the nerves because I was singing.”

"So you did show some self-control?"

He can see that she showed some self-control by not doing so;  Gaynor agrees with this and concludes that she may be worrying too much.   “You said you’ve done things you regret recently – had you been drinking?”   She has to confess that she had been.

"Too often!"

He asks how often that happens and she rather guiltily replies, “Too often.”

"Here, of all places, Yvonne?"

Delyth has gone to see Yvonne at number 9, entering by the back door;  she was not sure if she should come.   “Here of all places, Yvonne?”

"I had nowhere else to go"

“I had nowhere else to go” Yvonne protests.   Delyth says that walking through the back garden was enough –

"I don't know how you can stay here"

she does not know how Yvonne can stay there.

"We need to talk"

“That’s what you and me were like – meeting in secret.   Come and sit down, please – we need to talk,” Yvonne tells her.

Dani is in the deli

In the deli, Dani is brought her breakfast, then Jinx comes in, apologising for being late,

"I've only just finished the session"

but he has only just finished the session.

"Has the session helped?"

Dani has not ordered for him and wonders if the session has helped.

"I sometimes feel out of my depth"

“I don’t know – I sometimes feel out of my depth.   Some cases are complicated – problems that build up over a number of years.”

Dani is interested

Dani is intrigued, so he tries his best to explain, “The client today – she was not very open – just life issues, family, that sort of thing.”

"Er, Gaynor"

Dani reaches the conclusion that he is talking about Gaynor.

“Well, I live with Mark and he’s worried about her relationship with Cheryl, so . . .”

"She's Cynthia Smart"

Jinx points out that he did not name anyone and, to be honest, this woman is called Cynthia Smart.

"Yeah, right – pull the other one"

Dani does not appear to be fooled for a moment, so he goes to order his food.

"I went to see to see Laura's sister"

Back at number 9, Yvonne says, “I went to see her sister – Laura’s – I went there to make sure we’d covered our tracks.”

Delyth is horrified

Delyth is horrified by this revelation, but Yvonne continues,

"I wanted to give her sister some closure"

“I wanted to give her sister, Kate, some closure.”   Delyth is exasperated.

Gaynor comes out of the shop . . .

Gaynor comes out of the shop and walks along the High Street;

. . . and tells Mark she is going for a walk

Mark calls to her and she says that she is just going for a walk to clear her head.

"Have you seen Col?"

“Have you seen Col?” he asks and she answers that she has not since yesterday.   “I texted him earlier, but he hasn’t replied yet,” Mark adds.

Gaynor cannot imagine what is going through Colin’s head

"I remember what Mam and Stacey went through"

and Mark tells her, “I remember what Mam and Stacey went through when they thought I was dead – I haven’t seen Yvonne about, either.”

Gaynor imagines that she is keeping her head down, then enquires about Cheryl;

Madge spends a lot of time in the Deri

“I’m meeting her for lunch now – come and say hello,” he suggests, “She’ll be glad to see you,”

"No, I don't think so"

but she declines the invitation.

"Choose anything – I'm paying!"

He goes into the Deri, where Cheryl is on the opposite side of the bar from usual;  “Choose anything you like from the menu – I’m paying!” he announces.

"It's the lobster, then"

She jokingly suggests that she will have the lobster, then.

"Gaynor has stated therapy with Jinx"

“I saw Dani on the way over – she was saying Gaynor has started therapy sessions with Jinx – I’m sure it wasn’t easy for her, reaching out for help.”

"Have you heard how Yvonne's memorial went?"

Cheryl enquires, “Have you heard how Yvonne’s memorial went?   Was she there?”

Mark enthusiastically relates, “Yes, she walked in!”   It is assumed that he is referring to Gaynor,

"No, Yvonne herself turned up!"

but he corrects her, “No, Yvonne!”

"Hang on – you what?"

“Hang on – you what?” gasps Cheryl and it is emphasised that Yvonne is still alive.

"Must have been a shock to Gaynor"

She realises that this must have been a shock to Gaynor, and Mark goes on that it is good she is looking for help.

"Where's Anita?"

Having done his reconnaissance, Mathew returns to APD carrying some boxes, but Anita is out for lunch.

"A 'Meddal' logo on every one"

“You know the boxes in the bins by the chapel – a ‘Meddal’ logo on every one!”

Jason realises that they are Anita’s, in that case, but Mathew has told Megan that he did not recognise them.

"We don't know that Anita dumped them"

“But she said she’d sold them all – come on, Mathew, we don’t know that Anita dumped them,”

"Where are you going, Math?"
but he has told that there is only one way to find out.

Dani is not eating her lunch . . .

Dani and Jinx are eating in the deli again, with the same stranger behind the counter.   Dani seems to have gone off her food, but is wearing a knowing smile.   “Aren’t you going to eat that?” he asks,

. . . so Jinx consumes it instead

then swaps over the plates, with the comment, “We don’t want to waste it, do we?”

"I'm glad I've seen you . . ."

Gaynor comes in;  “I’m glad I’ve seen you – I just wanted to ask if it’s possible to book another therapy session –

" . . .another session – for my friend"

“for my friend.”

"So I was right, then'

Dani is looking very smug, taking this as confirmation of her suspicion;  “Tell your friend I’ll text her once I’ve checked my diary,” he says.

"She said that the first session was a big help"

“By the way, she said that the first session was a big help,” Gaynor adds before she leaves.

"See- you are helping"

“Well, you see – you are helping,” Dani reassures him;

"I hope Cynthia agrees"

he simply hopes that ‘Cynthia’ agrees with that evaluation.

At APD, Anita is adamant that she sold all the ‘Meddal’ stuff last week.

"I'm not going to be angry if you tell the truth"

“Anita, I’m not going to be angry with you if you tell the truth,” Mathew assures her.

"You don't think I dumped them?"

“You don’t think I dumped them at Bethania?” she exclaims,

"They saw an APD van by the Chapel"

but it is pointed out to her that one of the members said they saw an APD van beside the Chapel last week.

"They saw me, did they . . ."

“They saw me, did they,

". . . dumping the heavy boxes in the bins?"

taking the heavy boxes out of the van and dumping them in the Chapel’s bins on my own?” she shouts, “Mathew,

"I found a buyer, I told you"

“I found a buyer, I told you – she bought the whole lot from me!   Perhaps she dumped them.”

"And why would she do that?"

Mathew demands, “And why would she do that?”   Again Anita rages that she does not know the answer –

"The only thing I know is that it wasn't me!

“the only thing she does know is that it was not her.

Mathew does not believe this

Mathew is understandably not convinced.

"As long as we stick to our stories"

“As long as we stick to our stories, everyone will think that Gwyneth did it – there’s no-one to say otherwise,” Yvonne maintains

"You haven't got anything to lose"

Delyth comments that she makes it sound so easy;  “It is for you, perhaps, because you’ve got nothing to lose,” she objects.   Yvonne asks who is losing anything;  they can simply forget about it and move on at last.

"I was rebuilding my life"

“I’ve moved on already – why are you running away from your problems, I was rebuilding my life,” rages Delyth, “It’s taken ten years and I’m finally happy!”

"That's not going to change"

She is told that will not change.

"I could lose everything!"

“How do you know?   I could lose everything – my job, my home, Maya!

"I can't do this"

I can’t do this,” she snarls, grabs her coat and leaves the house,

"Del, wait!"

despite Yvonne’s protests.

"Ah, this is where you're hiding!"

Once more Megan walks into APD;  “Ah, this is where you’re hiding!” she sneers

"I've had a word with Anita"

and Mathew points out that he has had a word with Anita.

"Has she confessed?"

“Has she confessed?” is all that Megan wants to know.

"I don't know anything about the boxes"

Anita repeats that she has had a word with Mathew and does not know anything about the boxes in the Chapel’s bins.

"How do you explain this, then?"

“How do you explain this, then?” Megan demands, producing an invoice with the ‘Meddal’ logo.   “It says in black and white that A Pierce owns the contents.”

"That doesn't prove anything"

Anita insists that it proves nothing, but Megan does not know another A Pierce in the area.

"I did not put them in the Chapel's bins!"

“Look, I’m not denying that I did own the boxes – but I did not put the boxes in the Chapel’s bins!”

Megan insists that Mathew should lay down the law to Anita,

"I don't want any part of this – all right?"

but he does not want any part of this.   Anita declares that neither does she,

"Things will get a lot worse for you, A Pierce!"

but is warned by Megan, “If you move from there, things will get a lot worse for you, A Pierce!”   Anita walks away.

"I've got some lovely brownies from 'Tamed'"

Cheryl visits Gaynor at Llwyncelyn and is offered a cup of tea;  “I’ve got some lovely brownies from ‘Tamed’,” she adds.

Cheryl says that she has heard about Yvonne and describes it as crazy.

"I've only just found out"

“I’ve only just found out, otherwise I would have phoned to check you were OK,”

"It was big shock"

and Gaynor appreciates that, although it was a big shock.   There is a lot to untangle on top of everything else.

"At least you've got somewhere to turn to now . . ."

“Well, at least you’ve got somewhere to turn to, now,” Cheryl goes on,

". . . having therapy sessions with Jinx"

“I heard you’re having therapy sessions with Jinx.”

"Who told you?"

Gaynor wants to know who told her, and when informed that it was Mark, she wonders how he knows.

"Are people talking about me now?"

“Are people talking about me now?   It was supposed to be confidential!   I can’t believe that Jinx is telling people.”

"It doesn't make sense, Math"

In the Deri, Jason tells Mathew that it does not make any sense;  “Who would buy all that stock and then dump it straightaway?”

"Just don't mention it tonight, all right?"

Mathew replies that Anita insisted that it was not her, and begs him not to mention it tonight.  “I’ve had enough talking about boxes, ‘Meddal’ and Megan.”

When Anita brings over the drinks . . .

However, as soon as she brings over their drinks, Jason remarks,

. . . the first thing he does is mention it

“You must need a drink tonight after everything that’s happened with Megan and the boxes and the chapel!”

"I don't want to hear another word about 'Meddal'!"

Anita does not want to talk about that either, hoping that she will never have to hear another word about them.

Here comes trouble

Unfortunately her wish is not likely to come true, as Megan has just walked in, accompanied by PC Lesley Thomas.

"There she is!"

“There she is!” indicates Megan and the constable would like Anita to answer a few questions.

"Is it something about boxes?"

“Is it something about boxes?” demands Anita;

"Boxes dumped illegally in the Chapel's bins!"

Megan makes it clear that it was the boxes she dumped illegally in the Chapel’s bins.   The PC suggests that they should go somewhere quieter,

"Isn't this going over the top?"

but Jason considers this is going rather over the top.

Anita insists that she has nothing to hide and is willing to go with the officer;  as she gets up,

Anita hands Mathew's glass to Megan

she thrusts Mathews glass into Megan’s hand,

"Drink that, because you're a bit dry!"

snarling, “Here you go, Megan – drink that, because you’re a bit dry!”

Megan is affronted

Megan furiously puts down the glass on the bar and walks out.

"Where have you been?"

Maya is thinking when Delyth comes into the flat;  “Where have you been?” she asks, “I’ve been texting and phoning.”

"I've been thinking"

The reply is that Delyth has been out, thinking,

"Dangerous!"

which Maya regards as dangerous.

"I love you, Maya – I don't want to lose you"

“After everything that happened yesterday, I have just realised how fragile life is and how easily things can change.   I love you, Maya – I don’t want to lose you.”

"I love you, too"

Maya confirms that she feels likewise.

"Will you marry me?"

“I want to make sure of that – will you marry me?” asks Delyth;

Maya is speechless

Maya does not make any immediate reply.
