Rhys is acting as porter for Eleri

Eleri has convinced Rhys to help her to carry her purchases upstairs at the Deri;  “Just leave them there,” she instructs him.  

"Is there anything else I can do?"

asks if there is anything else he can do for her 

"Stay to watch me"

and she jokingly suggests, “Do you mind staying to watch me try on my new clothes?”

Rhys is flabbergasted

Rhys is dumbfounded as she starts to remove her jacket in a provocative manner.   “Cute,” she comments, 

"You really thought I was serious!"

“That you really thought I was serious,” then her phone sounds and she has to take the call, 

She dismisses Rhys . . .

so dismisses him.

“Hi – long time no speak – how are you?” she says and motions for Rhys to leave, which he does reluctantly.   

. . . who appears reluctant to go

“Oh, I’m jealous – I miss New York so much,” she goes on.

The radio news is on

When Yvonne comes downstairs at number 21, a news summary is being read on the radio;  

35-year-old — really?

Flashback to 21st February episode — 35-year-old?

“DNA tests have confirmed that the body discovered in Cwmderi recently was that of 35-year-old Laura Thompson.   The police are continuing with their investigations.”

She quickly turns off the radio when she hears the door open;  

"You can start by unpacking this food"

“Oh, you’re up then?” growls Britt.   Yvonne says that she has nothing else to do and is informed that she could help around the house.   “You can start by unpacking this food – I’m late for my shift at MFC.   You can Hoover as well – 

"Could you contribute?"

“do you know what, Yvonne?   As we’re discussing the house, do you think you can contribute towards the bills?   With the price of gas and electricity, you could offer some cash.”

"But I'm family"

Yvonne immediately points out that she is family;  

"Not my family, you're not!"

“Not my family!” Britt snarls in reply.   Yvonne wonders if Colin knows that she is trying to charge rent,

"I'm going to get something to eat . . ."

 picks up her coat and is about to leave the house;  she is going to get something to eat.

". . . I don't expect you to pay for my food"

“I don’t expect you to pay for my food, too!” she stresses.

"Ham and cheese panini, please DJ"

Rhys goes into the deli where he asks for a ham and cheese panini, but is told by DJ that he will have to have the vegetarian one;  

"Eileen hasn't brought the ham"

“Eileen still hasn’t brought the ham.”   Rhys settles for just a coffee in that case and goes to sit down by Mathew.

"I don't understand Eleri"

“I don’t understand Eleri, you know,” Rhys moans, “I took stuff up and down the stairs – and for what?”   

"You didn't get another date, then?"

Mathew deduces that he did not get another date, but Rhys replies that at least she phoned him for help;  “She knew where to  find the muscles.”

"Being single is a lot easier"

Behind the counter, DJ groans, “I don’t know why you’re bothering – being single is a lot easier.”

Mathew enquires whether things are all right between him and Sioned;  

"Come on, DJ"

“Come on, DJ – the hope of a relationship like yours is what keeps us going.”   

"Things are not rosy all the time"

They are told that things are not rosy all the time, which they find puzzling.

The witch, stirring the cauldron

At Penrhewl, Eileen is stirring a large tureen of, presumably, chutney, when she hears the door open and Eleri walks in, 

"Something smells nice"

commenting that something smells nice.   

She has a taste . . .

She sticks her finger into a bowl to taste what is being prepared and declares, “Apple, ginger and . . .”

. . . so Eileen grabs the bowl

Eileen angrily supplies the missing ingredient, “Chilli!”   Eleri insists that it has not got very much of a kick, but is told that the customers like it – in fact it is a best-seller.

"People round here aren't so adventurous"

“I forget people around here aren’t quite as adventurous as in America,” Eleri continues, “They have one called a Carolina . . .”

“Reaper!” snaps Eileen, 

"You're not here to discuss chillies"

“I’m familiar with it, but I assume you’re not here to discuss chillies.   Eleri, is it?   Brynmor’s daughter?”

"I've heard a lot about you"

“Nice to meet you, Eileen – I’ve heard a lot about you, as the most successful business woman in the area.”   

"So you're looking for a job, then"

Eileen has come to the conclusion that she must be looking for a job now that she is staying with Brynmor and Kath.

"I'm looking to invest in a business"

“Not exactly – I’m looking to invest in a business.”   

Eileen makes it crystal clear that she is not looking for investment.   “You haven’t heard my offer yet,” Eleri reminds her.

“We’re a family business and we like being independent,”says Eileen, 

"I'm out, as they say on Dragon's Den"

“So thanks for the interest, but ‘I’m out’, as they say on Dragon’s Den.”   Eleri regrets that Eileen cannot see further than her nose, because she had hoped to discuss something more global.

"Good luck"

“But there we are – I’m sure you’ll be successful in your local patch – good luck!” and off Eleri goes.

"I've got nothing to do with the tip-off"

Yvonne is being interviewed at the police station;  “I just don’t understand why you’ve asked me to come in now,” she tells DI Lloyd.   I’ve got nothing to do with the tip-off.”

"We just want a word"

The DI answers that they just want a word, 

"Why do you think they shared this information now?"

and she ponders, “Why do you think someone shared this information now?   A guilty conscience, is it?”   

He does not need her to ask questions, but she puts it down to force of habit.

"We tried to find the IP address"

“What really is interesting is that it was an e-mail,” he goes on, “We tried to find the IP address for the e-mail without much luck.   The individual went to a lot of trouble to cover their tracks – we’re dealing with someone who knows what they’re doing.”

"Are you suggesting I'm responsible?"

“Are you suggest I’m responsible?” Yvonne demands, “I’d be very foolish to do that.   I know there are very clever people in the IT department.”

"But you're taught how to do that"

The DI reminds her, “But you’re taught how to do that when you work undercover.”   

"Is that all the evidence you have?"

She is surprised that is all the evidence he has – that she knows the system too well.   

"You'll need more than that!"

She believes that he will need more than that.

"Why aren't you answering my texts?"

DJ returns to the farm, complaining that Eileen is not answering his texts, 

"Have you met this Eleri?"

but she demands, “Have you met Eleri, Brynmor’s daughter?”   

"Rhys and Mathew are besotted with her"

He replies that Rhys and Mathew are besotted with her.   

"She's a real madam!"

“Tell them to stay away – she’s a real madam!” is Eileen’s evaluation. 

"What about customers who want ham sandwiches?"

“And what am I supposed to tell customers who want ham sandwiches?” he wants to know, but she had completely forgotten about it.   “I had to close the deli to come back for it,” he moans, 

"Why didn't you send Sioned to get it?"

and she wonders why he did not send Sioned back to get it.

"She's gone out for a couple of hours"

“She’s gone out for a couple of hours to clear her head,” he answers, as she gets the ham from the fridge.   

"Is Maya involved?"

Eileen wants to know if Maya is involved and he does not believe so.

“What did Sioned have to say about the kiss, then?” she asks.   

"Leave it, Eileen"

He tells her to leave it, but of course she will not;  “You have spoken to her, I hope.”   DJ maintains that there is nothing to say.

"What's wrong with you?"

“What’s wrong with you?” she shouts, “Something is going on right under your nose!”   He maintains that he trusts Sioned and that her mother must have misunderstood.

"I don't want to hear any more about it!"

“Now, you listen to me – I don’t want to hear any more about it, so drop it!” he snarls, “Sioned and I understand each other – just leave it, will you?”   

He storms off with the ham

He walks out of the house with the ham.

Eleri enters MFC

Now Eleri visits MFC, which appears to be devoid of customers 

"The fryers are not working"

and Britt informs her that they are closed;  “The fryers aren’t working!”

“Don’t worry, I don’t like chips,” she is told.   

"You've come to the wrong place if you don't like chips"

Britt laughs that she has come to the wrong place if she does not like chips.   

"I like strong women who run businesses"

“But I do like strong women who run their own businesses,” Eleri adds, “How long have you been open as a business?” 

"Oh, about a year and a half"

Britt says that it has been a year, or a year and a half;  “Are you making a tidy profit?” is the next question and Britt is suspicious of this interrogation.

"I'm looking for investment opportunities"

“I’m looking for investment opportunities, so I’m doing some homework.   You look like someone who knows a thing or two about business – have you got time to show me a few things?”

Delyth comes into the police station

In the police station, Delyth comes in through the door and approaches DI Lloyd;  he did not think that she was working until tonight, 

"Just filing some expenses"

but she says that she is simply filing some expenses – she does not want to wait a month for the money.

"Get any sense out of Yvonne Evans?"

“Did you get any sense out of Yvonne Evans?” she demands;  

"I can't prove it"

the DI is convinced that she sent the tip off, but cannot prove it.   At least, Laura Thompson’s family have had some closure.

"It's pretty obvious that Gwyneth Jones did it"

“But it’s pretty obvious that Gwyneth Jones killed her, isn’t it?” says Delyth and he agrees that it looks that way.   

"Yvonne Evans is involved in some way"

However he is sure that Yvonne Evans is involved in some way and just needs to prove it.   

"Good luck with that"

Delyth wishes him good luck with that.

Eleri is being shown round the garage

We see the lettering on the wall above the garage, where Britt is showing Eleri around.   

Eleri has done some more homework

“So Garry, my brother, technically owns the place,” she explains, but Eleri already knows that while he is in jail, Britt is in charge.

"This area is screaming out for plush offices"

“What this area is screaming out for is plush offices,” she maintains, although Britt doubts that there is the demand for that in Cwmderi.   

"It wouldn't cost you anything"

“No-one offers that round here,” she is told, “And it wouldn’t cost you anything  – the rent won’t be much higher than what people pay to look at breeze blocks for walls.”

"So what are you getting out of this?"

Britt is anxious to know what Eleri is getting out of this;  “Do you want to know the truth,” she asks, 

"So I can be around while Dad gets older"

“It’s so I can be around while Dad gets older – I haven’t had much time to get to know him until recently, so this is the perfect excuse.   And a little bit of pocket money while I’m at it.”   

She hands Britt her card . . .

She hands her card to Britt, remarking, “I’ve seen enough – I’ll be in touch.”   

. . . and Britt looks optimistic

Britt appears quite pleased with himself, 

Eleri gets out her notebook . . .

while Eleri is about to get out her book and cross off another item on the list 

. . . but then sees Rhys . . .

when she sees Rhys over by the pharmacy, which is closed, 

. . . so hides round the corner

so she hides from the corner.

"Look where you're going"

As he turns to walk away, Rhys collides with Eileen, who tells him to look where he is going;  he cannot get rid of his headache and the pharmacy is closed.   “That’s useless when I need painkillers!” he moans, 

"We've got them in the shop"

so Eileen directs him to the shop instead.

"Is DJ all right ?"

He asks if DJ is all right;  “He didn’t look too happy in the deli earlier – sorry, I shouldn’t stick my nose in.”   

"He just loves to complain"

Eileen replies that he is fine and probably just got up too early;  he loves to complain.

She looks for any signs of Sioned 

Once Rhys has gone, she peers in through the door for any sign of movement, but finds none.

"Sending that e-mail was such a risk"

Delyth visits number 21 and reprimands Yvonne, “Sending that e-mail was such a risk – now DI Lloyd is convinced that you’re involved.   Yvonne insists that if Delyth is worried about herself, she will take the blame, 

"I'm worried about you, too"

but is told, “I’m worried about you as well.”

“You wanted to go to the police and confess,” Yvonne reminds her, 

"I was the one who insisted we bury the body"

“I was the one who insisted we bury the body.   Delyth . . .” but before she can say anything else, the door opens and Britt comes in;  she is obviously in no better humour.

"I'm fed up with you turning up like this!"

Yvonne pretends to be angry with Delyth;  “I’m fed up with you turning up like this!” and Delyth leaves the house.

"I have to make a payment today"

Britt is glad to see the back of Delyth and informs Yvonne, “About these bills – I have to make a payment today and I’m a bit short.”   

"I don't have any cash at the moment"

Yvonne replies that she does not have any cash at the moment, but will go to the cashpoint later;  “Just leave me alone, all right?”

Now Eleri is at APD

A customer is just leaving APD when Eleri comes in 

"Hello, stranger"

and greets  Mathew, “Hello, stranger.”   He replies that is what happens when she ignores his texts.   “Don’t say you’re sulking,” she sneers, “I’ve been looking at my financial future.”   

"Do I feature in that future?"

Mathew wonders if he features in that future;  “I don’t know yet – what if I took you for a drink?”

"Would that be business or a date?"

He enquires whether that would be for business or a date:  

"I like mixing business with pleasure"

“I happen to like mixing business with pleasure,” she answers.   

"Rhys is a good friend"

Mathew prefers to know where he stands and points out that Rhys is a good friend.

"I'm not interested in him"

“Rhys?   I’m not interested in him – he’s too much of a suit – I prefer a man who gets his hands dirty.   

"I'll see you tomorrow night'

“So, this drink – I’ll see you tomorrow night – 

"You tell Rhys – I'm sure he's old enough"

“you tell Rhys, I’m sure he’s old enough to understand.”

"Did you know Maya closed the pharmacy?"

Eileen is sitting at Penrhewl with a forbidding look on her face when DJ comes in and she immediately launches into, “Did you know that Maya closed the pharmacy this afternoon?”

DJ has no interest

He is not particularly interested 

"Bit of a coincidence, don't you think?"

and she goes on, “It’s a bit of a coincidence, don’t you think?   That she and Sioned are off at the same time.”   

"Don't start that again, Eileen"

He pleads with her not to start again, but she ploughs on, “I’ve phoned Sioned and she’s not answering.”

DJ suspects that she may want some peace, but Eileen has other ideas;  

"The last thing we want is people gossiping!"

“And that’s why Rhys said you were looking a bit unhappy, is it?   Does he know about the kiss?   Because the last thing we need is people gossiping about us.”

"This is nothing to do with you!"

DJ is becoming well and truly tired of this;  “Look, Eileen, this is nothing to do with you, all right?   Sioned and I are trying for this baby – and that’s stressful enough, considering what’s happened – 

"Please just leave us alone!"

without you stirring, so please just leave us alone!”   It is unlikely that she intends to do that.

Rhys has been for a walk

Rhys is passing APD and Mathew asks if he is OK.   He thought that going for a walk would help with his headache.   

"Eleri doesn't want to go on another date with you"

Mathew wants to talk to him about Eleri;  “She’s asked me to tell you that she doesn’t want to go on another date with you.”

"She's asked you to dump me?"

“What?” demands Rhys, “She’s asked you to dump me?”   

"I'm handsome  – and a businessman"

Mathew points out, rather proudly, that he is handsome – and a businessman.   

"And full of yourself!"

Rhys adds that he is also full of himself, 

"I just hope you know what you're doing"

warning, “I just hope you know what you’re doing,” as he walks away.

Britt does a spot of vacuuming 

Britt is doing some vacuuming when she notices Yvonne’s purse lying unattended nearby;  

She picks up Yvonne's purse . . .

she picks it up 

. . . removes £20 . . .

and extracts a couple of £10 notes, stuffing them into her pocket, then makes an interesting discovery.  

. . . and discovers a photo

She looks at the photo of Delyth and Yvonne;  she hears the sound of a flush upstairs, so the photo also goes into her pocket.

"Have you seen my bag?"

“Have you seen my bag?” asks Yvonne 

"Yeah, it's just there"

and Britt points to it.   Yvonne maintains that she was going to do the vacuuming later, 

"Now I don't have to rush back"

but now she does not have to rush back.

Britt wonders what to do . . .

The vacuum cleaner is immediately turned off and Britt agonises about what she will do with the photo;  

. . . looks again at the photo

she takes it out and looks at it again, 

. . . and comes to a conclusion

then has an idea.
