"I'll give you some peace" |
“I’ll keep them away for an hour, to give you some peace,” Jinx tells Colin.

"Swanning round as if nothing's happened" |
“Exactly – and what have you been doing? Swanning round as if nothing’s happened?” demands Britt. Yvonne insists that it was not like that; “So where were you, then?” Britt demands, “Our wedding – it was on Zoom!”
![]() |
"Why didn't you come back for your father's funeral" |
“And why didn’t you come back for your fathers funeral?” Gaynor wants to know, “Or Izzy’s?”

In the deli, Kelly asks DJ, “Where does Eileen keep Penrhewl’s hunting dogs?”
![]() |
"At Penrhewl – unless they're hunting" |
When he informs her that they are kept at Penrhewl, she goes on, “All the time? Do they ever go to Deri Fawr?”
![]() |
"I'm just curious, that's all" |
DJ wonders why she is asking, to which she replies that she is just curious,
![]() |
"I've got a doctor's appointment" |
then takes Rhys’ breakfast over to him; he is starving. “I won’t be in the office today – doctor’s appointment,” she says,
![]() |
"Girl problems, that's all" |
“Girl problems, that’s all –
![]() |
Rhys munches on his breakfast |
“see you later.”
![]() |
"Have you spoken to your father today?" |
As she walks out of the door, Diane is coming in and asks Rhys if he has spoken to his father today. “We’re the only two in the leadership race now,” she announces,

"Tell him good luck from me – he'll need it!" |
“Tell him good luck from me – he’ll need it!”

"We'll discuss things when we have time . . ." |
In the Deri Yvonne wants to discuss things properly; “Sit down and explain everything – when we have time
![]() |
". . . and a bit of peace" |
“and a bit of peace.”
![]() |
Then she hugs Gaynor |
Then she goes to have a word with Gaynor, first giving her a hug.
![]() |
"How are you feeling, Col?" |
Jinx comes back in and asks how Colin is feeling;
![]() |
"You're the first person to ask me that" |
“You know what? You’re the first person to ask me that – it hasn’t quite sunk in” he replies,
![]() |
"I'm frightened to ask . . ." |
“She hasn’t said much – not that I’ve asked much, to be honest – I’m frightened to.
![]() |
". . . frightened of finding out the truth" |
“Frightened of finding out the truth – what was so important to keep her away for ten years?”
![]() |
Here comes the DI |
DI Lloyd marches in, wanting to speak to Yvonne Evans
![]() |
"You work fast these days" |
and she comments that they work fast these days.
![]() |
He would like to see her at the station |
“Would you would be willing to come to the station with me, please?” he asks.
![]() |
"You're not arresting her?" |
Colin worries that she is being arrested, but the DI assures him they just have a lot of questions. Yvonne warns her brother that this was bound to happen
![]() |
"We'll catch up properly later" |
and reassures him they will catch up properly later.
![]() |
"It's in the bag, more or less" |
Griffiths arrives at Llwyncelyn, telling Hywel, “I’m here to congratulate you – it’s in the bag, more or less. Only you and Diane are running.”
![]() |
"I don't want to take anything for granted: |
Hywel does not want to take anything for granted; "
![]() |
"That's why I'm here to help you" |
“No, of course – and that’s why I’m here to help you,” says Griffiths.
![]() |
"I don't want any of your 'fixes'!'" |
“Look, Ieuan, I don’t want any of your ‘fixes’,” Hywel insists, “I don’t want to give anyone an excuse to look for another scandal – I want to win honestly!”
He is told that half of the established councillors already support him; “Diane’s only got a few cranks and radicals, but, just to make sure . . .”
![]() |
"Have a look at these" |
He opens his briefcase and produces some papers, which he wants Hywel to look at."Take them to any of the cabinet"
“Your policies,” he says, “Take them to any member you think will fit in your cabinet and you can be sure they will support you,”
![]() |
"Because we're offering them a 35% pay rise!" |
“Yes, because we’re offering them a 35% pay rise,” Hywel immediately notices, “Which leaves 1.7% for the normal members – come on!”
![]() |
Griffiths is thinking of number one |
Griffiths points out that it does not matter about them – he will get plenty of support from people he has promised a place in the cabinet; “Like me!”
![]() |
Yvonne is shown the necklace |
In the interview room, the DI is showing Yvonne the necklace; “You say you haven’t seen it since leaving Cwmderi.”
![]() |
Delyth is part of the interview |
We notice that Sgt Fielding is sitting beside the DI.
![]() |
"Gwyneth might have kept it" |
Yvonne puts forward the proposition that Gwyneth might have kept it, and he would like to know more about Gwyneth, her ex-wife. “How were things the last time you saw her?”
![]() |
She looks at Delyth |
“Not very good, to be honest – I broke her heart,” Yvonne replies, looking directly at Delyth.
“And after you separated, were you still in contact?”
![]() |
"My number had been blocked" |
Yvonne did try to contact her a few times, for the sake of Gwern, her son, but her number had been blocked.
After a while, she was offered a new job in a new area; “By that time, I was ready to move on – put the past behind me.” Again she looks at Delyth.
![]() |
Kelly is nervous |
Looking rather frightened, Kelly arrives at Deri Fawr; she can hear a dog panting, and calls, “Hello – Howard?” but there is no answer.
![]() |
She notices a dog on the sofa . . . |
She notices the dog lying on the sofa and whimpering.
![]() |
. . . and goes over to it |
As she pays some attention to the dog, Howard walks in, shotgun in hand,
![]() |
"What the hell are you doing back here?" |
demanding, “What the hell are you doing back here?”
![]() |
Kelly is concerned |
She looks anxiously towards him.
![]() |
"I couldn't let them think I'd been murdered" |
It appears that the formal part of the interview has now ended; left alone, Yvonne tells Delyth, “I couldn’t let them think I’d been murdered – you must understand that.”
![]() |
"Can I remind you there's CCTV in this room" |
She is informed, “Can I remind you there is CCTV in this room, Miss Evans. Although the official interview is over, anyone can still hear what you say.”
![]() |
"That's all we need for today" |
DI Lloyd returns and tells Yvonne that is all they need for today,
![]() |
"Do you mind staying in the area?" |
but then adds, “Look, Yvonne, off the record, we’re going to have to talk some more, so do you mind staying in the area for a while?”
![]() |
"I want to catch up with a few old faces" |
She says that she wants to stay anyway to catch up with her brother, “And a few other old faces,” obviously referring to Delyth.
![]() |
Hywel has made some amendments |
Griffiths is back at Llwyncelyn again; “What’s this nonsense you’ve sent me now?” Hywel had imagined that he would want to discuss that.
![]() |
"We should have discussed it first!" |
“Discuss, yes – we should have discussed it before you made all these changes!” rages Ieuan.
![]() |
"A 10% rise across the board?" |
“I mean, look at this – a 10% rise across the board – 10%?” Hywel replies that it is very popular with younger people,
![]() |
"You should have discussed it with the cabinet" |
Ieuan insists that he should have discussed it with the cabinet first.
“You told me I already had their support – and it would be easier on the taxpayer in the end,” Hywel points out.
![]() |
Griffiths is only thinking of himself |
“Yes, but it would mean thousands of pounds difference for someone like me,” Ieuan growls, revealing his true motivation, which Hywel had already guessed.
![]() |
"Perhaps you've backed the wrong bloke!" |
“Oh, this is your agenda, is it? Listen, perhaps you’ve backed the wrong bloke!”
![]() |
"I was the one who persuaded you" |
Ieuan reminds him that it was he who persuaded Hywel to stand; “I would never have done that if I knew you were going to advocate this egalitarian nonsense!” he snarls, but then thinks that he better soften his stance;
![]() |
"Let's discuss this again, sensibly" |
“Come on, let’s discuss this again, sensibly – or I’ll have no choice – I won’t help you.”
![]() |
"Perhaps I don't need any help" |
Hywel considers that possibly he does not need any help; “I’ve been talking to a lot of people and I think I can do this without you –
![]() |
"My policies and personality" |
“on the basis of my policies and my personality.”
![]() |
"Who told you that you had a personality?" |
Griffiths laughs at the mention of ‘personality’ – “Who told you that you had a personality?
![]() |
"Fine, if that's the way you feel" |
“Fine, if that’s the way you feel, you carry on,”
![]() |
He leaves through one door . . . |
but before he leaves the house, he pops back into the room to add,
![]() |
. . . and comes back through the other |
“But don’t come running back to me when it all goes wrong!”
![]() |
"Are you going to stand in front of that dog for ever?" |
Howard asks, “What are you going to do – stand in front of that dog for ever?”
![]() |
"Yes, if I have to" |
Kelly agrees that if she has to, she will. “It’s not a fighting dog – I don’t do that any more.”
“So why is it injured, then?” she demands
![]() |
"It's one of Penrhewl's hunting dogs" |
and he replies that it is one of Penrhewl’s hunting dogs – and it is his job to ‘sort out’ the lame ones;
![]() |
He leaves her in no doubt as to his intention |
he looks at his shotgun.
![]() |
"No – no way!" |
She is horrified that he intends to shoot the dog; “No – no way!”
![]() |
She sets about getting some evidence |
She takes out her phone to photograph it,
![]() |
"I'm going to expose you!" |
warning, “If you do anything to any of these dogs, I’m going to expose you!”
![]() |
Howard tries to grab her phone |
He lunges towards her to grab the phone but she evades him,
![]() |
"Don't come anywhere near me!" |
screaming, “Don’t come anywhere near me!”
![]() |
Kelly picks up the shotgun . . . |
Then she manages to pick up the shotgun and points it at him in terror,
![]() |
. . . and the tables are turned |
which has the immediate effect of calming him.
![]() |
"I was just trying to get that phone" |
“Whoa, Kelly,” he says, “I was just trying to get that phone,”
![]() |
"You're not going to touch me!" |
but she is adamant that he is not going to touch her.
“I’ve seen that look in your eyes before,” she continues,
![]() |
"Do you still have a thing for blondes?" |
“Do you still have a thing for blondes? Do you, eh?”
![]() |
Now he is really worried |
Howard is now extremely worried as she continues to taunt him,
![]() |
"Makes you feel like a real man, does it?" |
“You’re enjoying this, aren’t you? Frightening me – frightening this little dog – it makes you feel like a real man, does it?” she shouts.
![]() |
"How does it feel to be on the other side?" |
“How does it feel to be on the other side?” she enquires, as she trains the shotgun on him.
![]() |
There is a knock at the door |
There is a knock at the door of number 21;
![]() |
"He's asleep on the sofa" |
Yvonne has come to see Colin, but is told that he is asleep on the sofa.
![]() |
"How is he taking everything?" |
Yvonne appreciates that it has been a hard day for all of them and asks how he is taking everything.
![]() |
"After what you put him through!" |
“Well, as well as can be expected, after what you put him through!” Britt admonishes her and will not let her into the house to talk to Colin. “I don’t think that’s a good idea at all.”
![]() |
"I've got so much to tell him" |
Yvonne protests that she has so much to tell him, but is told quite emphatically, “Colin doesn’t know whether he is coming or going after your big show today!
![]() |
"You'll have to wait until Colin's ready" |
“So I’m sorry, but this time you’ll have to wait until Colin’s ready, OK?”
![]() |
The door is shut in her face |
Britt closes the door.
![]() |
"You don't know what you're doing, Kelly" |
Howard is still begging Kelly, “Please, put that gun down – you don’t know what you’re doing.”
![]() |
"I know exactly what I'm doing" |
“Oh, I know exactly what I’m doing – like you knew what you were doing that night, grabbing me, pinning me against the wall!” As he slowly inches his way across the room,
![]() |
"I wouldn't have gone any further" |
he maintains that he would not have gone any further – he is not that kind of person.
![]() |
"I was terrified!" |
Kelly is not convinced; “In the middle of nowhere – in the darkness – I was terrified,” she sobs, as she ensures that the gun is still pointing towards him. “If the cops hadn’t arrived . . . you’re scum, you know that?
![]() |
"You're going to pay for what you did!" |
“And you’re going to pay for what you did!”
![]() |
"You wouldn't do that" |
He says that she would not do that,
![]() |
"Well, 'spiking' your drink didn't work" |
so she replies, “Well, ‘spiking’ your drink didn’t work, so . . .” He realises that she was the one ‘spiking’ drinks –
![]() |
"Everyone blamed me for that" |
that everyone was blaming him for.
![]() |
"You're the type who would do it!" |
“Because you’re the type who would do it!” she growls, “It shows how pathetic you are!” Again he pleads with her to put the gun down
![]() |
"One good reason why I should?" |
and she demands, “One good reason why I should?”
![]() |
"I'm really sorry!" |
This is all too much for Howard and he bursts into tears, wailing that he is sorry; “I’m really sorry!”
![]() |
He subsides into a sorry heap . . . |
and collapses to the floor,
![]() |
. . . but Kelly keeps him in her sights |
with Kelly still training the gun on him.
![]() |
A new employee at 'Tamed' |
In the Deli, where there is a stranger behind the counter, so the place must be doing well, Griffiths finds Diane studying her laptop.
![]() |
"Many congratulations" |
“Many congratulations to you,” he says. She replies that she has not won – well, not yet anyway.
![]() |
"It's in the bag" |
“There are only two in the race – it’s in the bag,” Griffiths goes on, but she is less sure. “Well, we’ll have to make sure, won’t we?” he chuckles.
![]() |
"What's in it for you?" |
“Why – what’s in it for you?” she asks and he waffles about wanting to do what is best for the council and the village. He thinks that he can help her, but she replies, “Sorry, Ieuan, I don’t want any underhand tricks – a clean slate, that’s what I’m offering and that’s how I want to stand.”
![]() |
"What do you think I am?" |
He protests that it is nothing like that; “What do you think I am? But would you like to take a look at Hywel Llywelyn’s policies? What do you say?
![]() |
"Do you want to see what the competition has to offer?" |
Do you want to see what the competition has to offer?”
![]() |
Kelly talked a seat near Howard |
Howard is still sitting on the floor; Kelly moves a chair and sits on it, resting the butt of the shotgun on the floor.
![]() |
She looks at the pathetic specimen |
She turns to look at the pathetic figure,
![]() |
"Kelly, there's no excuse" |
who begins, “Kelly – look, there’s no excuse for the way I made you feel. But I promise I’d never . . . I mean it, and I understand that you don’t owe me anything.
![]() |
"Please don't do anything about the dogs" |
“But please don’t do anything about the dogs – I’d lose my job.”
![]() |
"Why would you want a job like that?" |
“Why would you want a job like that?” she asks.
He answers that he has nothing else;
![]() |
"You're about to sell my home" |
“You’re about to sell my home and the farming job that comes with it.”
![]() |
"Well, get something else" |
Kelly tells him to get something else. “Look, I don’t enjoy doing Eileen’s dirty work,
![]() |
"We all have to live somehow" |
“but we all have to live somehow – please.”
![]() |
"I won't hurt them" |
She asks if he is going to hurt the dogs, and he says that he will not; “What if Eileen forces you to do it?” He maintains that he will find some excuse, which she regards as, “Good.”
![]() |
"I'll be back" |
She turns to face him, warning, “Because I’ll be back – and I’m keeping the photos on the phone. If you do anything to the dogs,
![]() |
"I swear you'll regret it!" |
“I swear you’ll regret it!”
![]() |
"OK, Kelly" |
Howard nods his agreement.

Kelly replaces the shotgun |
she replaces the shotgun and goes to look again at the dog;
